Review of Chapter 2

Ally nodded and ran out the door. She ran all the way to the swings at the end of the road. She sat down on one and sobbed. The pain in her head and ribs was becoming unbearable. She thought to herself, I just want someone to save me from the nothing I am. Then she slipped into darkness.

~~(A&A)~~

Ally felt like she had been run over by a bus. Her head was pounding and her whole body was aching. She opened her eyes and knew exactly where she was.

Why am I at Austin's house? She thought to herself, but couldn't seem to clear her mind enough to figure out the answer. She carefully tried to sit up, but laid back down because of how much pain she was in.

"Ally?" A familiarly caring voice came from beside her. She looked over and saw Austin sitting on a chair placed next to the couch she was laying on. He was looking down at her with this look in his eyes. She looked at him a minute until it clicked. He was worried about her. She was hit by a wave of emotion that made her want to cry. He's worried about me, Ally thought. It had never really occurred to Ally that Austin actually cared about her. He cared more than Ally knew.

Austin sat down on the couch and grabbed Ally's hand. "Ally," he said softly, "are you okay?"

Tears began to stream down Ally's face. She wasn't crying because of her aching ribs or her throbbing headache and stinging leg. She was crying because she couldn't hide it from Austin any longer. Austin was going to know about her messed up life. Austin was definitely not going to be friends with her after figuring out she lived with some freak like Nina.

Ally tried to sit up but became dizzy and immediately fell back down.

"I'm taking you to the hospital," Austin declared. "Mom?" He yelled.

Austin's mom, a thin blonde haired woman came in. She looked beautiful, but disheveled. She worked long shifts at a diner within walking distance of Austin's small, quaint house. She was always so kind to Ally whenever Ally came over. Ally loved her, and was quite jealous that Austin lived with such a nice mom. Austin's mom quickly walked over to Ally and began to feel her forehead.

"Mom," Austin said, "I think we should take her to the hospital.

Ally began to shake her head rapidly, she tried to speak but she couldn't.

"Ally, honey, you're not in any kind of shape to do anything right now," Austin's mom, Mimi, said.

Ally began frantically trying to speak with no luck. This only frustrated her more. Austin handed her a pencil and a pad of paper. Ally wrote down You can take me but you can't tell Nina. She showed the paper to Austin and Mimi.

"Ally, we have to call Nina," Mimi said. Ally began to cry more.

Austin was stricken with realization. "Is she the one who did this to you?"

Ally debated on whether to tell them, but she knew of her dire situation. She slowly nodded, looking down at her socks.

Austin was conflicted. He wanted to go down to Nina and yell at her. But he knew that Ally was more important than his anger towards Nina. The police could take care of Nina.

Austin scooped up Ally and said, "We're going to the hospital."
