Merry Christmas everyone, here's my present to you guys and girls, please return the gift in the form of a review.
As you've probably noticed by now I've stopped to write replies to your reviews here, that's because there's been a few complains about it spoiling the story, but hopefully everyone has gotten replies through PM's instead, but for me to reply you've got to write a review which there's a point in replying to.
Hyperspace between Earth and P3X-666. Milky Way.
Ten years had passed since the fateful day when Dr. Janet Fraiser had been shoot by a Jaffa wielding a staff weapon, now however Daniel was returning to the scene of the crime to raise a monument to the dead doctor and if possible recover the remains of any SGC personnel so that they might be buried on Earth.
After the attack on P3X-666 the planet had been blacklisted in the SGC database, which was why there had been no attempt at reclaiming the bodies nor sending an SG team to scout the planet, even after they had found Atlantia, but now Daniel thought that it was about time that they did both, so accompanying him on his 305 where two squads of the best soldiers which could be found within the SGC, as had become the standard for all council members to avoid a repetition of the attack on General O'Neill at the premier of the SGC documentary.
As they sat on the bridge they could see a representation of their ship on it's course on the forward view port, also on that screen was the area in space which their sensors could reach, at the moment the sensors didn't show anything, but a few minutes later as the ship approached P3X-666 two small dots showed up, then three more, then four more then all of a sudden hundreds of dots showed up as the scanners got better and better readings of what was ahead of them.
"Sir we're detecting a large number of unidentified ships ahead." The man sitting at the sensor console reported.
"Thank you. I can see that." Was Daniel's response. "Prepare for battle."
As Daniel issued the order not a whole lot happened and the following seconds after was the same because everyone on the ship where already on the bridge, but when they dropped out of hyperspace a minute later things got much more exiting as the ships around the planet all opened fire on them the moment they did so, resulting in sever damage before they could raise the shield, thankfully the 305 had been built so that it could withstand large amounts of damage before going down.
"Sir we've got oxygen leaks on ten levels in the aft section." The man in charge of internal defences reported.
"Seal them of."
"Yes sir.
"Anyone recognising the ships?"
"They're not in our database sir, but sensors reveal that they lack shields." The sensor officer reported.
"How are our shields holding up?"
"Good sir, two of the emitters have been destroyed, but secondary emitters have taken over."
"Then we should make it out of this alive." Daniel said before opening a channel to the other ships. "This is Daniel Jackson of the SGC, I demand that you size fire and fall back from this planet before we begin to pick you out of the sky, one by one."
Five seconds later a reply came in the form of a hard growling sound mixed with a few Ancient words.
"Sir, what was that?" One of the soldiers who was guarding the bridge asked.
"I'm not sure, but it didn't sound to good, the few words I could translate included hot iron bars, intestines, skinning, destruction and death. But I can't be sure, it sounded like a mix of Unas and Ancient, it could be a very old dialect of Goa'uld, probably from the time of Atok or Apep, but definitely before 10 000 BC." Daniel answered before turning back to the channel, this time speaking in Goa'uld. "You're words are old and have no meaning to me. But I will repeat my own words, flee before we destroy you."
Once again the reply came in the form of growls and Ancients words, but they where followed by a wave of plasma bolts.
"Well there's their answer. Fire at will. Send a message to the SGC requesting backup" Daniel said as he opened up with drones.
Upon hearing the order the people at the gunner stations at the back of the bridge took aim and begun to fire Asgard plasma beams, which cut through several ships at a time, and the nuke rail guns, which took out large groups of ships.
At first things where going fine as the beams cut through rows of ships and the nukes destroyed swarms of attacking ships and fighters, but then out of nowhere an enemy ship jumped in just above the 305 on a collision course and before Daniel could move the 305 it cleaved straight through the neck of the ship.
"I hope you managed to send that message." Daniel said as he got out of the control chair.
"Yes sir, the SGC have dispatched ships, they will arrive within the hour." The communications officer reported.
"Good, cause we're abandoning ship." Daniel said as he reached the back of the bridge.
For a second the crew hesitated before they realized that he was serious, when they realized that they quickly got up from their seats and fell in behind Daniel. When he saw that everyone was following him Daniel increased his speed from a slow walk to a fast run, enhanced by the Atlas armour he wore, in less than a minute they reached the drop-pods located along the underside of the neck, thankfully the neck had been broken of far enough down the neck that there where pods for everyone, so they all climbed inside a pod and after a brief countdown they all found themselves travelling towards the planet bellow at a terrifying pace.
As they hit the planet they found themselves pinned down by several orange energy blasts coming from behind a wall of dust they had created upon impact, but trusting their armour they simply stood up and returned the weapon fire, with devastating result as hundreds of Unas came rushing out of the nearby forest with angry growls as the dust settled but was cut down by the soldiers who sprayed into the mass.
As he was shooting into the mass of Unas Daniel saw the eyes light up on one of them as he killed it, as did several more he noticed as the massacre continued, then as sudden as they had begun the assaulting Unas stopped rushing out of the forest and instead a single large Unas, easily measuring over three meters, approached them, slowly at first but after only a few meters it pressed of against the ground and gained an amassing speed in the few seconds it took it to cross the distance to Daniel, but the moment it pressed of the barrels of the PP-90's opened up on full auto, placing a hundred bullets into the torso, but despite that the beast still managed to reach Daniel's feet before stopping.
Looking down at the Unas laying on the ground bellow his feet Daniel ordered the men to roll it over, when it was on its back a Goa'uld leaped from the mouth and impacted Daniel's shield on his throat, the moment he registered the movement Daniel pressed down the trigger and blew of the entire face of the Unas.
"Status report." Daniel ordered as he turned away from the Unas.
"Squad one is ready." Squad leader one said.
"Same goes for squad two." Squad leader two said.
"Good, then we move out."
"Sir, there must be an enemy base on the planet, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to be that precise in their first volley, those ships where far to primitive to have sensors capable of detecting ships in hyperspace." Squad leader one said.
"I've come to the same conclusion, which is why we're going to incapacitate that base before the reinforcements arrive." Daniel said as he begun to move in the direction which the large Unas had come from.
Thirty minutes later, after evading and killing several patrols, they arrived on top of a large hill which overlooked a large plane doted with forests and the stargate sitting to their right, to their left was the ruins of what had once been a great city of the Ancients and all over the plain groups of Unas where walking around on patrols.
While they had technology many times more powerfully than that of their enemies Daniel didn't want to kill more of the Unas than necessary nor did he feel like making the mistake the Ancients had done against the Wraith, so instead of performing a head on assault squad two would perform an old fashioned diversion by dialling out, hopefully drawing some of the Unas in the area away from the ruins, while squad two did that Daniel and squad one was to infiltrate the ruins and capture whatever equipment had allowed the enemy to detect them in hyperspace.
So with a plan ready the group split up and Daniel's group quietly made their towards the ruins while the other group moved towards the stargate, about twenty minutes later, while hiding inside a couple of bushes, Daniel's group heard several gunshots coming from the direction of the gate, taking it as the signal that the distraction was happening they waited two more minutes before moving out of the bushes with their PP-90s holstered and their stunner's drawn, of course loaded with live rounds and with the silencers attached.
Weaving in and out of the pillars of the ruins and the remains of the houses the group bumped into a few dozen Unas who all received several bullets into either the head or the neck, granting them a fast dead, it wasn't long before they reached a building close to the centre of the ruins which was in a remarkable good state considering the decay to the surrounding buildings, so they approached the building carefully, but as they failed to spot any guards they moved into the building only to find it to contain a hole straight into the ground with stairs going along the walls downwards into the dark.
Looking down into the dark the entire group felt that they had found the right spot and so they descended down the stairs into the darkness, for several minutes they followed the stairs down in complete darkness, lead only by the overlay created on their HUD by the sensors installed in their armours.
Then after a long time of walking they saw a faint light further down into the hole and so they slowed down to a crawl, when they finally reached the bottom of the stairs they found the light to be coming from four passages each guarded by two Jaffa, the first they'd seen on the planet, clearly being a sign that they where closing in on their objective or at least something important, so they took up position with two soldiers outside two of the passages, out of sight from all the Jaffa, then on Daniel's count the soldiers stepped inside the passages and but two bullets in each Jaffa, one in the pouch in their stomach, to kill any none matured symbiots, and one through the neck, to kill both the Jaffa and any Goa'uld which might be present.
The only sound which could be heard from the execution was the bodies of the Jaffa hitting the ground, which of course alerted the remaining four Jaffa, but by the time they arrived in the junction the soldiers had already repositioned themselves so that their swords cleaved the Jaffa, in the same places their friends had been shoot, the moment they stepped out of the passages and into the darkness of the junction.
After the threat had been cleared the bodies where moved into the corners of the junction before they moved on, of course the blood on the floor was still there, but at least the bodies wouldn't reveal who'd committed it, after that they continued forward into one of the passages to see what they could find, after about fifty meters the passage took a right and then a left, what they found at the end of the passage was not really what they had come for, it was a room about two hundred meter long and wide with three-story beds filling up almost the entire room, in each of the bottom beds a sleeping Jaffa could be seen, seeing as it was probably a few hundred Jaffa inside the room they turned around and slowly left the passage, but not before booby-trapping the passage so they could blow it up if they needed to.
The second passage gave them almost the same view, but instead of sleeping the Jaffa in this room where training melee combat with staffs, so they did the same here and booby-trapped it before walking back to the junction. The passage they chose this time lead to an entirely different kind of room, instead of being several hundred meters in both directions this room was only ten meters across and eighty meters long, standing behind the covers which had been placed along the room to the next corridor where thirty Jaffa, a number which was soon reduced as the group turned around the corner and took them down one at a time before the Jaffa even had time to react, that was true for all but one Jaffa who managed to dodge the bullet meant for him, so while the soldiers made sure to kill all of the symbiots Daniel chased after him, of course Daniel caught up with him thanks to the armour, but not before the Jaffa threw himself at the feet of a short and fat man sitting in a large hall on a throne which looked like two pregnant women standing back to back, this lead to a rather messy scene at the feet of the man as Daniel put two bullets through the Jaffa.
"Do you know who I am maggot?" The man sitting on the throne said in a very old Goa'uld dialect as two servants came out from behind the throne and begun to clean of his legs and feats.
"No idea at all. But if I had to guess I'd say you're a Goa'uld." Daniel answered in Goa'uld as his squad came running up behind him.
"You're correct, I'm Bes, one of the few surviving Goa'uld."
"Well thanks, now I know that there's more of you worms left. I guess we'll have to increase our searches for your kind."
"You think that you're going to make it out of here alive? I do not think so, since Ra took power I've been allowing my brothers and sisters to fight between themselves while I've been building up my forces, I was planing to wait another hundred years before beginning my conquest of the galaxy, but I guess I'll just have to start now." He said as he stood up and raised a bronze coloured ribbon device worn of his right hand, in response Daniel pressed down on his trigger and placed a single well aimed bullet through the front of the man's head, sending brain matter splattering against the throne.
Walking past the throne Daniel saw the Goa'uld's hand slide away from a small button on the front of the throne's left armrest, but as nothing happened and there was no sound they assumed that it had not been pressed, so they continued into the next chamber where they found a hologram showing the planet and a lot of surrounding space, including the approaching fleet and the defending one, as well as a console of Goa'uld origin.
It was this console that Daniel went to first, there he could see what appeared to be an order sent to the fleet in orbit which told them where they should aim, before that order several corrections had been made, so he made another correction, this time setting the coordinates slightly wrong so that the defending ships would miss the Tau'ri fleet by a few kilometres, then Daniel begun to look through the rest of the console for anything of value, which included a few planets which where marked as conquered, the addresses to these planets he saved in his armour, inventory lists and army numbers, but then Daniel found something which he found to be more important than anything else.
"Secure a live feed from that scanner to the fleet, then look through the rest of the database the console is linked to." Daniel ordered before turning around and moving in the direction they had come from.
"Sir we can't leave you alone, you know the rules."
"I'll have squad two meet me on the way." Daniel lied as he ran of.
"Yes sir." Was the last thing Daniel heard.
Once back in the junction Daniel took the last of the tunnels which took him up to a heavily guarded checkpoints where ten Jaffa where standing safely behind cover, as he approached the checkpoint the Jaffa standing there noticed him and levelled their weapons, pointing them straight at him, in reply Daniel levelled his own weapons and pulled of four fast shoots which killed just as many Jaffa before sidestepping a volley of staff blasts and answering in kind with another six shoots.
After the checkpoint had been cleared out he carefully went around and put and extra bullet in each of the Jaffa to make sure that the symbiots wouldn't survive, when he was done with that he continued down the passage to another checkpoint, this one had the same equipment plus a staff cannon, but he took out it just as easy despite that.
The room just beyond the checkpoint was what he was after, the jail of the facility, or at least that was what the Goa'uld had converted it into, inside the third cell to the right he found what he was looking for. Inside the cell where two women with auburn hair, onemuch older but only slightly taller than the girl next to her, both where sitting on a bed, but when they saw Daniel the older woman put herself between him and the girl with a grim face.
"What do you want with us?" The older woman asked in a very demanding tone.
"Janet is that really you?" Daniel said as he begun to bend the bars aside.
"Yes, that is my name." Janet said as her expression turned into one of confusion. "That voice, it's been so long ago since I heard it, but that must be you Daniel, after all this time you've come to save us?"
"Yes, it's me and yes I'm here to save you. Now lets get you out of here." He said as he took a firm grip of the bars and bent them a little bit further so that the two woman could walk through the bars.
As the two women got out of the jail cell the older one gave Daniel a hug before walking over to the cell across the room.
"Daniel, there's a woman here who's in much pain, we need to take her with us." Janet said.
"We'll break free everyone here as soon as the fleet arrives, until then we're only rescuing SGC personnel."
"Daniel I think she's SGC too, she knows you and the rest of SG-1."
"Then I guess she's coming with us." Daniel said as he walked over to the cell and bent away the bars.
As he stepped inside the cell Daniel could see a woman with black hair lying crawled up against the wall in the back of the cell, approaching slowly he could see scars running across the length of her arms and legs as well other now healed injuries, when he was but a few decimetres away he reached out a hand and swept the hair out of the way.
"Vala?" He said in surprise at the sight of his former team-mate.
"Daniel, is that you?" The woman asked as her eyes fell upon his helmet.
"Yes it's me, now get up. I'm breaking you out of here."
"I can't walk, my legs have been broken over and over again." Vala answered as she stretched out her legs, revealing them to be bent in odd angles in at least ten places each.
"Squad one, how is the fleet doing?" Daniel asked over the coms.
"They'll arrive in a few minutes." Was the reply.
"Good, fall back to the last of the passages, squad two has not yet arrived and I'm in need of assistance."
"This is squad two, we're making our way down the stairs as we speak." A voice replied over the coms.
"Then I want both squads to my location ASAP." Daniel said before cutting the transmission and returning his attention to Vala. "My squads will soon arrive to help you."
After reassuring Vala of the aid that was one the way he walked out of the cell and helped Janet and the girl into the cell, out of the exposed passage, he then waited a few seconds until squad one arrived.
"I need someone to carry the woman with the black hair in the back of the cell, the rest of you will escort the other two women and the one being carried." Daniel said and motioned for the cell.
As soon as the order had been issued one of the men went inside the cell while the other three combined their strength to rip away all of the bars to allow the forth to exit the cell with ease, once everyone was in the passage Daniel lead the way back to the throne room, on their way there squad two meet up with them and complemented the escort formation, once back in the throne room Janet and the girl begun to threat Vala's injuries with the help of the servants which had come to understand that they where their best hope of getting of this planet.
Only a few minutes after returning to the throne room they could hear the sound of bombardment from above and after a quick look at the hologram in the next room Daniel could confirm that it was the Tau'ri fleet which where bombarding the enemy ships as well as surface targets, seeing this Daniel took up a detonator and pressed it, sending a strong shock wave through the facility, but most importantly it caused both of the other passages to collapse, it wouldn't kill the Jaffa but it would make sure that they couldn't participate in the coming battle.
"What are those dots coming from some of the ships?" Janet asked from the doorway.
"That's the SGC troops." Daniel answered.
"But their being slaughtered!" She exclaimed.
"No, they're making an orbital drop, our armours have been designed to take us down from orbit safely if needed. Now I think we should get topside to make sure that they don't accidentally bombard the building we're in." As he said that he walked past Janet and into the throne room. "Listen up people we're moving out, same set-up as before, on carries and the rest will act as escort."
Half a minute later the group was gathered and was making their way to the junction, after getting there the servants each grabbed a soldier as instructed and Janet and the girl took a firm grip of Daniel, then the soldiers and Daniel activated their drive pods and the entire group found themselves flying up out of the hole at a fast pace, when they arrived on the top of the hole a few seconds later the soldiers and Daniel dropped of their cargo before running out of the house with their PP-90s raised and the rest of the group following closely behind, then all of a sudden a single Unas threw himself against the group of slaves, thankfully Janet reacted much faster, ripping the holstered PP-90 of the soldier carrying Vala and unleashing an entire clip into the attacker.
She then hung onto that weapon for the rest of the walk out of the ruins, just outside they where faced with a cloud of dust as hundreds of objects impacted the group in front of them, as the dust settled down it revealed the objects to be soldiers who quickly rushed away to secure the ruins, once they reached the outskirts of the ruins they begun to scan the newcomers for anything before handling all of them a beacon, as the slaves pressed them they where beamed away until only Daniel and the squads remained, then the soldiers made a ring around Daniel and then they where all beamed away.
Bridge. Marks Command class ship. P3X-666's orbit.
Upon materializing on the bridge Daniel could see the rest of the group being escorted away.
"Guards, have the women with the auburn hair and Vala taken to separate quarters from the rest of the group." Daniel ordered the escorting soldiers who nodded and separated them from the rest of the group.
"Quite the mess you've gotten yourself into Councillor." Marks said to Daniel from the captains chair.
"Yes, things never seems to work the way it's meant to when we travel the universe does it, but it was a rewarding trip none the less." Daniel replied.
"No it dosen't, but I'd say we should be happy to have found the base of a Goa'uld."
"We should. But I want the problem to disappear now, but you have to spare the ruins, there appears to still be working Ancient equipment there which we'll recover when you've cleaned the planet."
"Yes sir." Marks answered before turning to his communications officer. "Order the fleet to deploy all jumpers, combat jumpers and tanks, the F-302s are to search the remainder of the enemy fleet while the F-55 join the ground attack. All forces are to avoid damaging the ruins as ordered by Councillor Jackson."
"Yes sir." The communications officer said before relaying the new orders to the entire fleet.
Outside the bridge the F-55s could be seen breaking of from their search of the debris, instead pointing their noses towards the planet they had been ordered to attack, adding to that where several jumpers flying out of the ships of the fleet, some carrying tanks and some flying in formation with other jumpers and combat jumpers.
After ordering the assault on the planet Daniel had made his way out of the bridge, which was a bit small for their habit of transporting people to the bridge, and had found which room the women had been placed in, upon entering the room he saw Janet and the girl sitting around a table which was been packed with food.
"Am I disturbing?" Daniel said as he entered the room.
"Not at all, but please take of the armour." Janet answered.
"Sorry, we're in a combat zone and according to the rules set by the SGC all personnel are to have their armour equipped at all time in such a zone or during active duty, but I guess I could remove the helmet." Daniel said and removed it.
"I take it you don't see all to much now without the helmet or your glasses?"
"I actually do, there's been several improvements in the medical department, but Dr Beckett and Dr Keller can bring you up to speed on that when we return to Earth."
"You know, after all this time I can't really believe that you finally came to our rescue."
"You know that I would have come for you sooner if we knew that you where alive, in truth I came to this planet to raise a monument in your honour as well as to recover your remains if possible."
"Daniel, I don't care if you came here with the intention of rescuing us or not, you did it either way." Janet said as she got up and hugged Daniel.
"So what happened to you and who's this girl?" Daniel asked as he hugged her back.
"Well it begun when my life ended, the last thing I remembered was pain and then I awoke in a sarcophagus with a Goa'uld looking down at me, for some reason he'd ordered his Jaffa to revive me, eight months later I gave birth to her." Janet said before turning around and pointing at the girl. "For the first years we where held with several other mothers and their children in what I'd say was a nursery, then about one and a half years later we found ourself close to a stargate which where unguarded, so we made a run for it, but the gate was guarded by hidden Jaffa, they captured us and since then we've been moved between several jails.
About three months ago that woman joined us in our imprisonment, but she must have been captured years ago judging from the injuries she's suffered, I've tried to do what I could to heal her wounds since the Jaffa or the Goa'uld refused to help her."
"I believe I know why he did that, the throne the Goa'uld sat on deciphered two women who where pregnant, there's a minor Egyptian god called Bes who's said to be the protector of women and children, especially pregnant women, it could explain why he saved you."
"Honestly I don't care about that Daniel, I'm only happy that he did and that you rescued us." Janet said before giving Daniel a kiss, she then got back to the table to continue the meal.
"So do you know who the father is then?" Daniel asked, slightly embarrassed at the kiss.
"Daniel, has it really been that long since I disappeared so that you've forgotten all the nights we spent in the medical bay?" Janet said with a teasing smile.
"No I guess not, I still have dreams about those nights every time in close my eyes and fall asleep. But I thought we made sure this could never happen?"
"Not the last time in the shower." Janet said before turning to her daughter. "Claire, this is your father, Daniel Jackson."
In response to her mother's statement Claire looked up from her food and then at the man standing there, the man she'd been waiting her entire life to meet, the man she'd heard so much about, so when the man was now standing here she threw herself at him, sending the chair flying, screaming "Daddy!".
THE END
Well this was a chapter I personally thought was really fun to write and it contains a few things I hope you didn't expect, this was actually a request made by reviewer so if you don't like it there's no idea in complaining now, you should have said something earlier.
We'll see when the next one comes out.
