Bella's POV
The week flew by quickly. Zoey, Tori, and I were all excited for try-outs. We were all trying out for the same sports, besides Zoey who was also trying out for basketball. It was the last day of try-outs on a Friday afternoon and all the athletes were taking advantage of the fields, courts, and the gym.
The Royal Four were watching. They were somewhat intimidating and I felt myself blush every time I detected a Royal pair of eyes on me. Hustle. Improve your form, Bella. I would remind myself. I wanted to make a good impression. They all have killer looks, great bodies, and were excellent at all of their respective sports. They were also the planners of all school functions and activities. Even though they were popular and respected and in positions of power, I wouldn't want their job. I bet they were tired all the time because from what I saw they ran everything around here.
On Saturday there was a pep rally to be held at two p.m. Zoey, Tori, and I were there twenty minutes early so we could get good seats. They gym is huge because it has to accommodate over 1,000 students. We found seats a few rows back from the front so we could be close but not too close. At exactly two p.m. sharp, the lights went out and everything was dark. Gosh, this school is so punctual. I thought. Forks High was very sloppy compared to LDV. Murmurs spread like wildfire throughout the gym. "What's going on?" and "I'm so excited!" were a few common phrases I heard.
A few minutes of anticipation later, the lights came back on. Everyone started cheering at the sight of the Royal Four standing in the middle of the gym in their team uniforms. The school mascot, the Jaguar, was also there in his blue and gold. (Outfits on bio page) Alec looked cute in his football uniform, complete with pads, helmet, and cleats. Chala was spunky in her blue and gold hair ribbons which held her hair in a swingy high ponytail. She had on body glitter and lip gloss. Hannah looked a little boyish but sexy at the same time. She had on her basketball uniform which consisted of a tighter than average blue jersey, looser basketball shorts, and fresh gold and blue Nike's. She had a basketball in her hands and was smiling from ear to ear. You could tell having a basketball in her hands was like oxygen to her.
Felix also looked great in his basketball uniform. His was in the same colors as Hannah's but of course was more loosely fitted and it showed off his biceps and calf muscles great. He was cradling a basketball. Alec, Chala, and Felix and Hannah were such cute couples.
Alec stepped up to the microphone and the cheering quickly died down. With a big white smile he said, "Hello, fellow students! I'm Alec Volturi and it is an honor to once again serve you as school president. Thanks for all the support." The cheering began again and he blew a kiss to the crowd. Lots of girls giggled, including me. He then stepped back into his former place.
Chala walked forward and a lot of guys let out whoops, and most of the girls were silent. At the sound of all the male whooping and whistling, Felix and Alec got gruesome looks on their faces. I laughed. After the cheering died down, Elizabeth began to speak. "Hey there, Jaguars. I would like to welcome you to another thrilling year here at Leonardo da Vinci Academy. I'm Chala Fletcher-Volturi and I'm proud to serve as your Vice-President." she turned and walked back into place. Alec kissed her on the cheek and wrapped an arm around her waist from behind. He towered over her.
Hannah stepped forward. Both guys and girls erupted in cheers. She waited for the cheers to subdue and then yelled, "Are you ready for another awesome year?" The crowd cheered enthusiastically in response. "I'm Hannah McKnight-Volturi," she continued, "And it is a pleasure to be this year's secretary. Thank you all for your votes." She returned to her place with a small smile.
Felix bounded forward with his basketball high in the air and shouted, "Jaguars!" in his deep, smooth voice. "Jaguars!" the crowd repeated with fervor. Felix smiles, his deep dimples popping out.
"Welcome! I'm Felix Volturi and it is an honor to serve as your treasurer. Go Jaguars!" He returned beside Sophia as the crowd went nuts. The Royal Four waved in unison to the student body, Chala's pom-poms bursts of color and glitter.
After everyone quieted down once more, Alec stepped forward again. "Today you will get a taste of all sports. Who do you want to see perform first?" he asked mischievously. The guys were either cheering the names of Hannah or Chala. The girls screamed, "Alec!" and "Felix!" The Royal Four were all laughing and smiling and I was once again struck by their beauty. What I wouldn't give to be noticed by them. I thought longingly. "Okay, I see most of you want the girls to go first. Since Hannah has seniority we will let her go first. Then Chala will follow." Alec explained. Hannah smiled as Chala, Alec and Felix cleared the court. Hannah jogged up to the half-court line and hit a flawless jump shot. We all cheered as the ball sailed cleanly through the net.
She then hit a three pointer from the left and followed that up with another from the right. The icing on the cake was when she ran forward and performed a perfect windmill dunk, smashing the ball through the basket. I had never seen a female dunk like that before. She was amazing and the crowd was on their feet screaming her name. She wiped imaginary sweat off her brow and waved with a big smile.
The lights went out suddenly and when they come on again Sophia had vanished and there was a huge banner being held up in the middle of the gym floor and music started playing. Chala came running under the banner and did a Liberty with a big smile. Then a moment later, amid the cheers of the crowd, the Junior Varsity cheer squad came bursting through the banner. The crowd went wild.
"Jaguars, are you ready?" Chala screamed. We all screamed, "Yes!" in response. The intro music died down and she called, "One, two, and three." Then the team began their cheer with cheerful smiles.
"LDV's the best in the nation! Stand up and cheer for that Jaguar sensation! Watch out for the Jaguars, you're in our habitat. You better step back, we're here to attack! Attack! Attack! Jaguar's, attack!" with that, the cheer ended. Chala was in a cupie, being held up by a handsome and muscular male cheerleader. Much better than the ones back home. I though appreciatively. Chala and her team finished with waves and smiles and jogged off the floor.
The football team came running through the door onto the floor in their uniforms, cleats, and pads. Alec was at the head and they began to perform a quick skit. "What team?" Alec shouted. "Jaguars!" his teammates responded. They repeated this a few times and the rest of the team joined in. Then Hannah and Chala reappeared in different clothes. Hannah came out in a volleyball uniform with the average small, tight shorts and fitted jersey. Of course the boys lost their minds. She was holding a white volleyball in her hands. Chala had on a different blue and gold uniform that showed a little more skin. The guys in the crowd were screaming. The girls were murmuring and muttering among themselves. Even I felt a twinge of jealousy at how hot and athletic they looked. Felix came running out in his original basketball uniform and made a jump shot from the half court line. Nothing but net. We all cheered. It looked as though Felix was just as talented as Hannah. He dunked the ball viciously and a few of his teammates came running onto the floor and crowded him, yelling and laughing proudly. The volleyball team did a few plays after that and the cheer squad did some cheers. All the sports were represented except swimming, naturally. The pep rally lasted an enthralling two hours. We all retired to our dorms pumped and with sore throats from cheering so much.
