Just a random idea I'm throwing out there.

Edit on 4-19-2021: Going through and revamping this fanfic. Not really planning to change the plot, just work on the grammar and detail involved because I was much younger and much less talented when I wrote this... So hopefully I can revamp this into something I'm actually proud of again...and hopefully stay proud of.

"Fulcrum, it's great to hear from you again!" Hera sighed in relief as Fulcrum's hologram flickered to life. "We're low on fuel, food, and credits. I was hoping you might have a job to fill us up and put another dent in the Empire?"

Fulcrum's hooded figure nodded in that manner that seemed to suggest he or she knew this long before this meeting. "I just received some information from one of my intellects that may be of use to you. There's a shipment of upgraded Imperial blasters for security on a mine on an ice moon near the Lothal system. They use slaves in that mine so stealing their security would help set the groundwork for an escape or rescue. I'll send you the details and the coordinates. If you can clear out their weapons, then I will do all I can to find someone to help the slaves out of there."

Hera nodded thankfully. "Thank you, Fulcrum! I don't know where the rebellion would be without you. Once we're full on fuel we could help as well. My ship is always willing to help those who need help."

Fulcrum chuckled lightly. "I know it is, but realistically there may not be enough time for you to refuel and make it back to help. Don't worry about it. Just focus on taking care of yourself and your crew and let me handle the rest." Fulcrum paused for a moment, considering his or her words before adding, "If I were not Fulcrum, someone else would be. In my absence, I am sure that someone else would rebel and fill my shoes." On that reassuring note Fulcrum ended the transmission. Hera waited for Fulcrum's intel to come through so that she could review it before leaving her room.

Hera noticed Ezra standing just outside her door, pretending like he hadn't just been trying to eavesdrop on the conversation. "Oh, hey, Hera!" He acted surprised. "We got another mission yet?"

Hera shook her head in amusement, the street kid never ceased to amaze her. If she didn't know his history, she probably would have believed him. Ezra did make a pretty convincing liar. "I think you'd already know since you were eavesdropping." Even though she'd never had children, Hera's voice had the knowing of a wise and experienced mother. Lying to her was like lying to a Jedi master.

"I wasn't eavesdropping!" Ezra insisted and his voice cracked, his act faltering. He searched for an excuse, "I was, uh, I was waiting for Sabine! Yeah, I was waiting for Sabine."

While Ezra stuttered through his weak excuse, Chopper wheeled past and beeped a snide comment to Hera about knowing of Ezra eavesdropping. Hera shook her head in annoyance. "Thanks Chop, I definitely needed your scanners to tell me that Ezra was eavesdropping." Chop beeped a sassy reply before continuing on down the hall.

Ezra glared at Chopper as he passed. "Chopper! You little piece of - " Ezra took off down the hall, banging into near every wall as he tackled the egocentric droid.

"What was all that about?" Kanan asked from behind. It both unnerved and fascinated Hera how he could seemingly appear out of thin air. She always assumed it was from years of hiding from both the Empire and the force, perhaps hiding was why it was hard to sense him like she could others coming up from behind her.

Hera glanced over at Kanan with a mildly loving gaze, he looked like he'd just been meditating - calm, relaxed, and ready to go. "We have another op." She explained, trying her best not to get distracted by his charm. "Stealing upgraded blasters so another team can rescue some people in a mine. It should get us plenty of credits for food and fuel."

"We can review the details during the jump. I'll get the team ready." Kanan nodded, landing a light kiss on Hera's cheek before following after Ezra and Chop. It made her wonder if he had been reading her thoughts. She placed a hand on her cheek as she moved to the cockpit and prepared the coordinates for the jump to the ice moon. Wondering the whole time why her Jedi had to be so cunningly innocent and sexy.

Sabine, Ezra, and Zeb waited for the Ghost to come out of hyperspace in the hold. They'd finished reviewing the details with Kanan and Hera a few minutes ago and would come out of hyperspace at any second. They felt the Ghost slow as it exited hyperspace and lurched to the side unexpectedly.

"Karabast!" Zeb shouted, doing his best to maintain his balance. "What's going on out there?"

"I think we have company!" Sabine replied as she held onto the ladder for support. Her theory was backed up from several jolts, presumably from a round of blasts hitting the Ghost.

Ezra wasn't so lucky. He had neither Zeb's weight to keep him planted down or Sabine's agility to grab onto something before being thrown across the hold. He let out a yelp of pain as he was sent flying across the room and into the control panel for the hatch. Ezra sat slightly dazed, having the wind knocked out of him from his landing into the control panel. He did his best to shake it off and get back to his feet, he needed to close the hatch and find something secure to hold onto before the Ghost was hit or swerved again. It was too late though, the Ghost jerked another direction again and Ezra found himself sliding out of the now open hatch and rapidly descending toward the fast approaching ice moon. He braced himself for what he feared would be a very painful impact.

When the Ghost left hyperspace, Hera had expected to have to transmit some fake codes to slip through, but what she didn't expect was the Empire to have a whole starship guarding the shipment...and they did not seem to like their fast-approaching company. This put the situation from okay to really bad fast. The Empire already had TIEs approaching with their weapons hot. They were not expecting and did not want company!

"Kanan, Chop! Get ready on the main canon and the rear blasters!" Hera shouted over the comms. We've got incoming!" She'd just barely managed to get the words out of her mouth when the TIEs began shooting. She managed to dodge most of the shots, but felt a few hit their target. "Lucky shot." She growled.

TIEs began to disappear as Kanan went on the offensive and started gunning them down. Chop helping where he could from the tail gun. However, it wasn't enough as more TIEs kept coming. Hera steered toward the ice moon hoping she could maybe use it to her advantage. Larger ships could handle the cold better, smaller crafts often had their systems freeze in colder temperatures. Perhaps she could bring a few of them down without Kanan or Chop even having to fire a shot!

Another round of shots found their mark as Hera twisted the Ghost in her best maneuver to avoid them. Stormtroopers had terrible aim but TIE fighter pilots were actually capable of hitting a target. Alarms began flashing and whining without warning. The shields were still good, the hull hadn't been compromised, the turret and aft guns were still working...then she spotted it, the hatch to the hull was open.

"Sabine, Zeb, Ezra? What's going on down there?" Hera questioned over the com. "Get that hatch closed!"

"Working on it, Hera!" Sabine replied quickly. "But we need to circle back! The kid fell through!"

"What?!" Hera screamed, immediately pulling the Ghost into a hard spin back the way they came. It usually would have been a risky maneuver to pull especially with TIEs on her tail, but it just so happened to shock the fighters pursuing them. Kanan shot them down in the confusion. She zipped back the way they'd came, flying lower than she had dared to earlier searching for any sign of Ezra. "I'm not seeing him!" Hera panicked. "The scanners aren't picking him up either."

"Hera, we've got more incoming!" Kanan warned. "We need to get out of here, we can circle back for the kid later."

Hera sighed in frustration, knowing Kanan was right. She didn't want to leave Ezra stranded on an ice planet but she trusted the jedi to know that Ezra was alright and could wait till they could come back without an audience. She changed their course and vanished before the next wave of TIEs could catch up to them.

When they safely made the jump back into hyperspace, Kanan retreated to his quarters to meditate. He could still feel Ezra, so he knew he was alive, but reaching out could possibly tell him how Ezra was faring. It was difficult, at first, Kanan wasn't used to concentrating like this. One of the repercussions of turning his back on the force for so long. After some time, he thought he could pick up on Ezra's connection to the force. It felt pained, scared, and cold...which made sense considering the circumstances. Still, Kanan couldn't determine if that was what Ezra was actually feeling or what he believed Ezra to be feeling.

So the definition of an Intellect is someone who knows a lot more-less so that's why I titled it Fulcrum's Intellect. He knows a lot of the Empire's secrets and he gives them to Fulcrum. That's all you need to know about him for now. :p

Possibly edit this some more in the future, it's kind of short for my liking. I mean, it's longer than the chapter was originally but not by much. Generally I think a fanfic should be similar to a novel, maybe a bit shorter. So a chapter should take about a single sitting to read, and the full fanfic should probably take a handful of hours total.
