Bella's POV

Try-out week flew by. It was a pretty fun but stressful week. I think I did well in both cheerleading and volleyball. The assembly program where the new teams will be announced is today. I can't wait to find out if Zoey, Tori, and I made the teams. We worked so hard. I thought to myself. The intercom came on in our dorm room and Hannah's voice said, "Hello Jaguars. Please make your way to the auditorium at this time for team announcements. Thank you." Zoey, Tori, and I jumped up and ran out the door to join the stampede headed for the auditorium.

Once seated, we saw that The Royal Four were standing on the stage. We all were relatively quiet, the whole student group of us brimming with anticipation. Then Alec came forward to the podium and began speaking. "Welcome Jaguars. Today you will find out who this year's student athletes are. Names will be called in alphabetical order. If your name is called please come and stand on the stage. Thank you to everyone who tried out. If you didn't make the team this year, please try again next year. Everyone did amazing. Chala will start the announcements. Please give us your undivided attention. Thank you."

Chala stepped up to the podium and smiled. "Hello student body of LDV. I am here to give you this year's cheerleaders, dancers, gymnasts, and girl's swimmers." We cheered and she smiled. Chala called out the 13 girls who made the JV Cheer team but we waited in anticipation for the sports we had tried out for. All the girls received a pin that said 'LDV Cheerleader.' Zoey, Tori, and I looped arms and crossed our fingers. We listened for our names as Chala began announcing the Varsity Cheerleaders. Zoey Field, Tori Vago, and Isabella Swan. I chanted in my mind. Chala called out a few names and then announced, "Zoey Field." Tori and I jumped up and cheered as Zoey made her way up to the stage with sparkling eyes. Chala continued to announce athletes until there were only two spots left. Tori and I began to sulk. Then Chala said, "Tori Vago and Isabella Swan." We squealed with excitement as we made our way to the stage and received our pins. Chala continued and announced Competition and we were the first names called. My heart was racing with joy. We received our Competition pin.

Hannah took Chala's place to announce volleyball and we were the only 3 15 years olds called. We did it! We made all the teams we tried out for! I thought rapturously. We returned to our seats with our pins and I tuned out the rest of the ceremony. I had made the teams I tried out for along with my friends and that's all that mattered to me.

Alec Volturi came up and announced names for his respective sports. Then Felix took his place at the podium and gave a mischievous smile. "Ladies and gentlemen," his booming voice rang out, "Alec and I have a surprise for all of you and you two as well." He said, turning to Chala and Hannah. Their eyes widened. "Our brother Demetri Volturi is going to be captain of some of the boy's athletics this year. This is his first year as a Jaguar and transfer student."

Murmurs and exclamations flew around the room and echoed off the high ceiling and walls

"Settle down please. Demetri, will you please come out and join us." Felix beckoned to the shadows behind the heavy stage curtains.

A young man walked out onto the stage. My heart literally skipped a beat and my mouth grew dry. He was gorgeous. Alec was cute in a boyish way and Felix was handsome and manly. But this was different. He had pale skin and refined features like his brothers. His eyes were murky golden brown. He was muscular but lean, not just brawny like Felix. He had a serious, almost melancholy look to his face. You could tell he was very toned even through his clothes. He was perfect and I felt myself yearning for him. My eyes never left his face and body. The whole room was quiet. The others looked very excited to see him. Chala was bouncing in her seat and Hannah had light in her usually cold eyes and a flush in her cheeks. Felix and Alec were grinning broadly. Chala jumped up and launched herself at Demetri. Demetri chuckled and hugged her. His face lost some of its solemnity.

"I missed you so much, big bro." she said with emotion in her voice. Hannah came up and gave Demetri a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Felix and Alec came up to join the reunion and exchanged a rather elaborate handshake and laughed. Then Demetri took to the podium and his brothers stood on either side. He announced the new team members for his delegated sports and then gave us an address.

"Hello to the student body, faculty, and staff of LDV. It is an honor to stand before you as a new addition to The Royal Four. Well, I guess I should say The Royal Five now. Some of you may have seen me hanging around the school these past few weeks. I sure didn't. I thought sarcastically. I still couldn't keep my eyes off of Demetri. "I enjoyed observing the school, but I did see some things I didn't like so I'm going to address them now. To all of you, I care about these two ladies up here. If anyone hurts them, and that's physically or emotionally, or harasses them in any way, you will have to answer to me. That is, if my brothers don't get to you first." He smirked. Most of the males in the room, including the teachers, tensed up at his words. Demetri seemed to pause a moment to let his words sink in and then smiled. "It really is a pleasure to be here and I plan on working hard to make the teams the best they can be. Thank you."

The principal came up and made some announcements and the whole time she was doing this there was a building racket outside. It sounded like a lot of people were outside the doors. After the principal finished addressing us the doors burst open and a huge crowd of reporters and cameramen came stampeding through, headed towards The Royal Five. All of their eyes grew wide and they shot up out of their chairs and hit a U-turn, running as fast as they could to escape the crowded room. The principal blocked their exit and told them something with a stern and unwavering look on her face. They turned around reluctantly with irritated looks on their faces. They came back on stage and sat in their previous arrangement. Then the principal returned to the podium and announced, "The Royal Five will hold a press conference now." A press conference?! I thought, astonished. Maybe 'The Royal Five' is more than just a name.
