Chapter 28

Bella's POV/Early morning/March 4th

We woke up early this morning to go to the spa, as we usually do before a big event. We got facials, manicures and pedicures, our hair washed, conditioned, and blow dried, and massages. Chala can't stop talking about getting her driver's license today. The schedule is packed for the day so we have to leave the spa as soon as we're done. We have hair appointments in an hour, then we have to go pick up our costumes from the alteration's shop, and our last fitting is after that. Then we have two hours set aside to get ready for the party. By the time we're done, it'll be almost time to start greeting guests.

Chala was looking nervous when we got to the Department of Motor Vehicles. Everyone's here to support her including me, Hannah, Aro, Caius, and Marcus, the wives, Alec, Felix, and Demetri. It's a big deal that Aro, Caius, Marcus and their wives are here. They never leave the castle and come to public places like this. Luckily there were only a few people in here today, although they looked curious and stunned to see all of the pale, perfect, cold beauty around them.

I'm worried for Chala. I've only ever seen her drive too fast and too recklessly, so hopefully she knows what she's doing during the test.

"Chala Volturi," the man behind the counter called. Chala took a deep breath and stood.

"Good luck!" everyone told her. We all chatted amongst ourselves about the party and school to keep ourselves occupied while Chala was gone.

About 30 minutes later, Chala finally came back into the waiting room. She had a glum look on her face. I felt my heart drop in disappointment for her. "You failed, didn't you?" Alec asked, his arms already open.

"Heck no!" Chala exclaimed, whipping her license out of her pocket and beaming. Everyone erupted in relieved sighs and laughs and hugged her. We all took turns examining the shiny card. Chala was beaming and beautiful in her picture.

We all went our separate ways after that and Hannah let Chala drive. For once she drove responsibly. First we went to our hair appointment and then we went to pick up our costumes and get fitted one last time. Chala is going as a vampire princess, ironic I know. Hannah is going as Princess Leia from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and I'm going as a sexy devil. We went home and started showering, doing our makeup, and getting dressed.

We all look hot. Chala has on a short fluffy red skirt, black and red bustier, a black and red mini cape, black high heels, and red tongue and belly rings along with a black choker necklace. There is fake blood running out of the corners of her mouth and foundation a few shades lighter than her normal skin tone to look paler. She also has dramatic cat eye liner with black smudged eyeshadow, fangs, and a gothic tiara atop her elaborately coiffed hair.

Hannah is dressed as Princess Leia when she was enslaved by Jabba the Hutt and forced to wear a skimpy dancing girl's outfit. She showed the most skin in leather boots, two golden bracelets, hair fasteners, burgundy veils that were attached to two skirt plates, and a brass brassiere fastened over the neck and behind the back with a thin string. So basically she had on a bikini top and a bikini bottom with skirts attached on the front and back, with most of her legs revealed. She also has a lightsaber attached to her side and her makeup is minimal but alluring.

I have on a short skin tight dress with red heels, devil horns, a devil's trident, and seductive smudged makeup with deep red lips. I thought back to how much I hated to show skin when I was living in Forks a few years ago. I'd come a long way as far as confidence.

Chala's POV

Tonight was going to be absolutely amazing. We had a red carpet and paparazzi were already waiting to get pictures and gossip, much to my annoyance. Guests were pouring in and everyone was dressed in funny, sexy, or playful costumes. Alec and I took our places behind the curtains at the top of the grand staircase in the ballroom.

"You look beautiful." he smiled, kissing my cheek lightly as to not smudge my makeup.

"Thank you. You look amazing too." I smiled back appreciatively. Alec was dressed as a vampire too, which was funny considering he was one. His pale, perfect skin and strange eyes completed the ensemble of slicked back hair, fangs, black and red tux, flowing black cape with its high color, and shiny black dress shoes.

I heard Demetri's voice over the intercom and grabbed Alec's glass smooth hand in excitement. "Welcome everyone! We're here to celebrate my sister's 15th birthday, so let's have fun and keep it classy. Come on out, Chala!"

Alec and I descended the staircase in our matching outfits and everyone applauded and cheered. I smiled and waved to everyone with my free hand. I went over to the microphone at the base of the stairs. "I would like to thank everyone for coming out and bringing me gifts! Let's party!" I exclaimed. Everyone cheered and began swarming me for hugs and happy birthday wishes. Finally Alec and I were able to make our way over to our family. We started dancing to the upbeat music and the night was flying by. At 10, Aro and Sulpicia made an appearance.

"Happy birthday, daughter." My dad said into the microphone. His melodic and lilting voice made everyone stop and look his way.

"We know you only wanted one thing for your birthday and we're glad we were able to give it to you. But we couldn't help ourselves from getting you two more." Sulpicia said.

Two harmonizing voices came out of nowhere. I recognized the voices and nearly fainted. Justin Beiber and Chris Brown walked out from behind the curtain from the top of the stairs with microphones in their hands. I screamed right along with every other girl in the room. They sang happy birthday with their eyes on me and their smiles felt like they were for me only.

After that, Aro told us to all follow him outside. There was a huge, rectangular box with a tag that said, "Pull Here." I ran up to it, my heart racing, and pulled. The box unfolded and there sat a gold Aston Martin DBS Volante. I screamed hysterically, moisture gathering in the corners of my eyes, and ran to hug my parents while everyone cheered and crowded the car to get a look at it.

"Thank you!" I exclaimed. Aro and Sulpicia laughed and hugged me back. Their skin may have been hard and cold but their hearts were warm and soft although they had laid dead in their chest for a millennia.

We all headed back to the ballroom and Justin Beiber started singing, "Baby." Girls crowded the floor. I went to get some punch, my heart still full of joy. I drank it and went back to dance with Alec, only to find him surrounded by girls. He was smiling and laughing and they were doing the same, clinging to him from all sides. I immediately felt pissed. This wasn't like him. I turned around and went to the adult bar which was set up for some of Aro's adult human guests.

"Pink Lemonade Vodka with Lemonade please." I said.

The bartender looked shocked. "You're only fifteen."

"No shit, Sherlock," I spat. "Give me my drink or lose your job." I threatened. His eyes widened and he turned to make the drink. "Thank you." I said with an overly sweet, sarcastic smile.

Alec's POV

I hadn't seen Chala for over an hour so I went to look for her. I found her sitting at a table with Justin Beiber. I stood back and watched while they talked. They didn't seem to notice me in the dim lighting. Chala looked like she'd been drinking. Her eye makeup was even more smudged than it was supposed to be for her costume and she was smiling that goofy smile I recognized as her intoxicated smile. I noticed with growing anger that they were sitting a little too close, and Justin was staring into Chala's overly bright hazel eyes intensely. Fucking douchebag. He put his hand on her knee and I had to literally take a deep breath. Then, before my very eyes, my girlfriend leaned over and planted a slow kiss on another man.

"Chala!" I exploded. She whipped around and her eyes latched onto mine.

She jumped to her feet as I stormed over to her. "It's not what you think." she said pathetically. I barked a harsh laugh.

"Then what the hell is it!" I shouted. She flinched away from me. Drunk or not, that was no excuse to kiss another guy. "We're done!" I was so angry. If I had been human my heart would have galloped right out of my chest.

"You don't mean that. I didn't mean it." Chala whimpered, tears in her eyes. "I saw you with those other girls, I had a drink, and… I don't know. I'm sorry."

I couldn't even look at her anymore. How dare she try to pin this on me? I wasn't the one that had kissed someone else! She ran off as I turned my back to keep myself from attacking Justin. I couldn't feel anything but rage.
