Chapter 30

Alec's POV/Saturday morning/Kitchen

Today is our last day full day in the castle until we go back to the dorm at LDV. I know everyone is mad at me including Dem, Chala, Bella, and maybe even Hannah, my sister. Felix seems mutual ever since the fight, like he's decided not to let it get to him. I was cooking the girl's breakfast as a peace offering; pancakes, bacon, and eggs. I don't like cooking because the smell of human food is unpleasant to me, but it was for the greater good. When I was done I pressed the intercom button to the music room where Chala had fallen asleep and to the girl's rooms and said, "Breakfast."

A few moments later they all responded with groggy voices. I heard them all rustling around in their blankets. Bella and Dem showed up first, followed by Hannah and Felix. Dem and Felix had warm bear blood which made Bellla and Hannah noticeably blanch. I smiled. Ten minutes later, Chala showed up in cowboy boots, jean shorts, and a cowboy hat. I wanted to tell her she looked nice, but didn't. Her eyes were bloodshot and puffy from crying.

She sat down, picked up her fork, and said a soft, "Good morning."

"Good morning, Chala." everyone responded quickly.

"Who made this?" she asked suspiciously, pointing at the food.

"I did." I smiled.

She scowled. "Um, no thanks. Suddenly I'm not very hungry anymore." she snapped, grabbing an apple and leaving the kitchen.

"Dad, I'm going out!" we heard her yell.

"Where?" Caius yelled back.

"To ride Snowball." she replied.

"Alright, be safe!" he called back.

"Bye Daddy!" and then we heard the kitchen wing door to the outside slam. I looked at my family. Demetri was staring at me with a gruesome look in his eyes.

"Enjoy your breakfast." I said, departing the kitchen. I ran out to the track to hide in the bushes and watch Chala ride her horse. Creepy, yeah. But I missed her. I still loved her, that was never going to change. But I was also still angry. Her phone rang just as she was about to mount the horse.

She answered the phone and I heard Justin Beiber's voice on the other line. I growled. They made small talk and Justin reassured Chala that everything was going to be fine. Chala complained to him. They made plans to meet up at the mall which infuriated me. All those tears over me and she's still going to go out with him? She was a fast one, wasn't she?

She rode her horse for a little while and then she took Snowball back to the stables. I followed her to the garage where she jumped in her car and took off. I followed a few minutes later in my car, doing my best to stay inconspicuous by staying a few cars back. She arrived at the mall and Justin was waiting for her in a disguise of big sunglasses, a baseball hat, and a ridiculous fake mustache. Chala giggled when she saw him. They hugged and laughed and exchanged greetings and then went inside. To say I was jealous would be an understatement. I decided not to torture myself any further and went home. I waited in her room for her for hours before she finally showed. She walked in, turned on the lights, and froze in her tracks when she saw me sitting on the edge of her bed.

Her head dropped and she said, "What are you doing in here?" I studied her uneasy posture.

"Are you really going to date Justin Beiber after all that crying you did over me? Because the crying made me believe you cared, then all of that canceled out when you bounced right into a day with him." I accused stonily.

Chala looked surprised. "H-how did you know I hung out with Justin?" she stammered.

"I followed you." I admitted without remorse.

She looked instantly angry. "So, you've been spying on me? For what? I'm not yours anymore! Leave me alone, you psycho ass vampire! Get the hell out of my room!" she screeched, her voice raising ten octaves. Then she lurched forward and slapped me with all her force. I saw on her face that it had hurt her quite a bit to hit my cold, hard skin with such force. And though it didn't hurt me a bit psychically, it stung emotionally like a whip.

"DEMETRI!" Chala called in a shout. Demetri came hurtling through the door only moments later.

"Get out, Alec." he demanded.

"Make me." I smiled coldly.

"She doesn't want your sorry ass. Get the hell out of here and leave her alone." Demetri shouted. I lost it and punched him which immediately resulted in a grappling brawl. Chala starting screaming for us to stop and soon Aro, Caius, and Marcus burst into the room and pulled us apart.

"Conference room, now!" Marcus growled. We all followed them to the conference room, all of us grumbling the whole time under our breath.

"This foolishness will take place no longer." Aro said seriously, "You will all be staying here, no more LDV dorms for you all. We obviously cannot trust you with that freedom anymore. Alec, I want you to stay away from Chala and Demetri until you can reign in your emotions. Now all of you, go do something constructive and stop all of this childish quarreling!" Aro said, raising his voice, something that he never did.
