Hey, guys. I cant do italics idk why but paragraph two is a flashback. Abbie helped me.
So much had changed yet nothing felt different at all at the same time. Spencer hated that feeling. It was uncertain and uncertainty had never sat well with the intelligent brunette. Aria still looked at Ezra the same way she had that day so many years ago; her ever-changing hazel eyes always needing the love and comfort of his blue ones. Emily still looked lost. It hurt for Spencer to see her like that but Emily had never been the same after the girls grew apart from Alison. Alison might have been toxic for her but she loved her nonetheless, maybe even more so because of it, the whole situation was undoubtably the most difficult for her. Caleb and Hanna were ironically in the exact same position: Hanna with her left leg crossed over her right sitting on the chair with Caleb placing his hand firmly on her shoulder. Spencer could remember every small detail about that day and she didn't doubt she would remember everything about this day. But for two entirely different reasons

"We wanted to tell you guys sooner but we honestly didn't know how," Spencer trailed off nervously looking to Toby's bright blue orbs for support. She had always been an excellent speaker, she definitely had the confidence for it, but when it was regarding her personal life she could never quite put it into words. "Me and Spencer are expecting," Toby stated calmly sensing his wife's discomfort, "a beautiful baby girl in 6 months." Hanna was of course the first to react. "I'M GOING TO BE AN AUNTY! " She exclaimed causing Aria to giggle slightly. "Spencer Hastings why didn't you tell me sooner? How am I supposed to buy a full baby wardrobe in only 6 months?" She mocked anger, getting up from her seat and rushing to pull her slim friend into a tight hug. Caleb was never far from Hanna's side and he was soon congratulating Toby on the great news. Aria and Ezra were next to give their congratulations. "I call dibs on baby sitting duty!" Aria yelled raising her hand in the air. "No way, I want dibs on baby sitting duty!" Hanna argued. The pair went back and forth for a good ten minutes while Emily, with grace and care as always, approached the happy couple bearing a genuine smile. She hugged them both before placing her gently on Spencer's shoulder. "You are going to be the best parents ever. And I'm not just saying that because you are my best friends. You both love so much and so deeply as well, and if a child is loved where can you really go wrong?" Emily said with such honesty and gentleness Spencer couldn't help but shed a small tear.
They had loved her so much. Both Spencer and Toby had loved Ariana with everything they had yet it wasn't enough. Even with love it still went wrong. She couldn't help but feel like she had failed everyone, not only her own daughter but everyone who had believed she was a good mother. Because she certainly didn't feel like one right now. She had let Toby fill them all in: she couldn't bear to do it herself. It was silent. No one had commented yet. They were still processing. Tears ran down Hanna's face, taking some of her foundation of with it, as she looked helplessly at Caleb, not even thinking about the way Alex will take the news. Aria had buried her head into Ezra's chest seeking comfort. "No." Emily stood up breaking the silence. "NO!" She screamed tossing her head back in frustration tears rapidly falling down her cheeks. "We can't let A get away with this, not this time. This is too much," she panted almost in hysterics. She ran straight into Spencer's arms. "This isn't fair," she shot out in between breaths. She looked from Aria and Ezra to Hanna and Caleb then back to Spencer and Toby. "I'm tired of standing back and letting bad things happen, we have to do something!" She pleaded with everyone. Hanna stood up immediately making her way towards Spencer and Emily grabbing them both by the hand. Aria soon followed taking a hold of Spencer's free hand and squeezing it tightly. Caleb and Ezra stood on either side of Toby looking at the four girls, the four best friends who grew up more like sisters, waiting for them to steer them in the right direction. "We have to do it for Ariana. That bitch is going down if it's the last thing we do." Spencer spoke for the first time the whole night. She was broken, she had lost a piece of herself in Ariana but she was a survivor. Spencer Cavanaugh had never been a victim and she wasn't about to become one now. She was going to deal with it how she always did, with her loved ones by her side.
Alex didn't leave his room for about a week or so. His best friend was dead, his Ariana was dead. How could someone be here and then the next minute they are gone? Losing her was unbearable, it was like drowning continuously, he couldn't get back up nor he couldn't die. Ariana was his best friend, the only person that always listened and gave him perfect advice, the only person that understood him fully was now gone forever.
"Sweetie, come downstairs. We will watch a movie or something. How about your favourite? Spider man?" His mother knocked on his locked door. Spider man was Ariana's favourite movie, she was the one that made him watch it. "No." Was all he said. "You can't lock yourself up, Alex." He was about to reply something cheeky like he usually would but his phone beeped. He groaned. Probably a text saying how sorry someone was about Ariana. He opened the text.
I'm fine. Don't tell. Please. -Ari xoxo
