Hermione wrapped her arms around herself in a pathetic attempt of comfort. She sniffled as she watched Harry lower Dobby's body into the ground. Warm arms wrapped around her, pulling her against them.
"He's in a better place. You know that, right?" Fred asked from behind her.
She nodded and leaned back against him. "When did you get in?"
He shrugged, stepping away from her to help Harry throw the dirt in the grave. "Not too long ago." He glanced at Ron, who was looking at them in suspicion.
Hermione bit the inside of her mouth to hold back a frustrated comment, directed at both Weasleys. Now wasn't the time for fighting. She turned away from them and walked back into the cottage.
She pushed passed the curious eyes in kitchen, and continued up the stairs to the guest room. She curled into a ball on the bed, and let out a choking sob.
It just isn't fair! She thought uselessly. Dobby had only been trying to help.
The door behind her opened and shut. She felt the bed dip as whoever it was sat down next to her. A cautious hand rest gently on her shoulder, and rubbed slow circles up and down her arm.
"Not now, Ron." The hand stilled, but remained there.
"Its not Ron." Fred said flatly.
She rolled over to face him, not bothering to wipe her tears away.
"I just-" He started, shaking his head. "We've went this long without telling anyone... I didn't want to give Ron another reason not to trust you, after he's already ran once..."
"Are we ever going to be more than a secret?" She asked quietly.
He smiled softly. "Bill floo'd over to Grimmauld Place, said you were here." He said, ignoring her question. "I would have been here sooner, but I had to run to London. Not an easy task, mind you, what with all the Death Eaters running around."
Hermione wiped her eyes and sat up. "FRED! You shouldn't have taken the risk!" She exclaimed.
He shook his head. "I had to, love." He moved in front of her, crossing his legs, and reaching into his robes. "How else was I suppose to get this?" He asked, holding up a small purple box.
Hermione looked from the box, up to his face in confusion. His eyes were gleaming in excitement. "Well?" She asked. "What is it?"
He grinned and opened the box. "I don't want to be a secret, Hermione. I want to be yours. I want the world to know I'm yours." Hermione's eyes widened as she took in the ring in Fred's shaking hands. "And I want the world to know your mine." He swallowed nervously. "Hermione Jean Granger, will you marry me?"
Hermione sat in front of him, stunned. She took in a deep breath. "Oh Fred!" She said, suddenly throwing herself at him, knocking him back onto the bed. "Of course I will!" He wrapped his arms around her waist, and pulled her closer to him. Hermione laced her fingers into his hair and pulled his face up to meet hers. She slid her tongue past his lips, and Fred groaned into her mouth. He ran his hands down her side, and held onto her waist before flipping her underneath him. Hermione gasped in surprise, but wrapped her legs around his waist.
He slid his hand up, breaking their kiss only to remove her shirt. Hermione pushed his robes back frantically, before continuing her assault on his mouth. He pulled back to remove his own shirt, and reached down to unbutton her pants. Hermione bit her lip and watched Fred through heavy eyes.
"Are you sure?" He asked quietly, taking in her beautiful body underneath him as he tugged her muggle jeans off. They had never gone this far before. His hands paused on her knees when she still hadn't answered. "Hermione?"
She smiled, and ran her hand down the side of his face. "In a few hours I'm leaving with Harry and Ron again. We're going to break into Gringotts." His eyes widened, and he began shaking his head.
"No. No, Hermione you can't. There's no way to-"
"Make it out alive?" She finished softly. "I know... But we have to." She shrugged helplessly. "But before I leave, I want to give myself to you. Completely." She blushed, but didn't break eye contact with him. "In case I don't-" Her voice broke. "In case I don't make it back, I just want you to have this moment, right now, to remember how much I love you."
Fred nodded slowly. "You're going to make it, Hermione. I know you will." But he didn't sound even slightly confident.
She smiled sadly, but kicked her jeans off anyway. He nodded, and moved back over her. "I love you so much," He whispered in her ear.
"I love you, too, Fred." She whimpered as he pulled her closer.
