A/N: Hi everyone, I don't have much to say except R&R.
-EquinoxWolf- You're welcome.
Link walked slowly along the walls. Even though it was in the middle of the night he had to keep his guard up. After the destruction of both Eberene and Mirunar, Hylia increased the patrols seven fold. Link stomped his feet to keep himself awake. He looked out to the moonlit field. His thoughts wandered to Ganondorf. The sorcerer was like a second father to him. The knight hoped that the older man was safe and out of Demise's hands. This reminded Link of his friend Ghirahim who was captured by Demise. The knight worried greatly for the other teen. And what of Midna? She hadn't been heard from in weeks.
"Hey Link," a voice called evidently upset. Link looked up from the brick he had been staring at during his brooding. He gave his brother a small smile. The two brothers have grown distant since Ganondorf's banishment; Pipit absolutely refused to hear Ganondorf's story and was backed by many of the other knights while Link wasn't willing to forgive, but wanted to hear Ganondorf's reasoning.
"What's wrong?" Link asked knowing the tone in his older brother's tone.
"Did you hear, Ganondorf was seen with Demise?" Pipit asked his voice even angrier. "Some of the older knights even said that they knew this would happen. "
Link sighed. He never knew what to say when Pipit went on his rants. The blonde leaned on the edge of the garret. He looked out back to the forest. A pair of horses broke out of the trees at a full gallop. A large group of Bokoblins charged after them. Link ran to the stairs; Pipit in front of him led the way. The other knights were charging to protect their comrades. The pounding of the dozens of feet sent Link's blood pumping wildly through his veins.
The blonde knight struck out against the enemy and all the bokoblins fell quickly. The Hylian knights cheered at the small victory and soon the entire group headed back to the castle. Link watched as Pipit left speaking with the other knights. Link stayed behind and looked into the star filled sky. He heard a snap of a twig and withdrew his blade.
The frantic noise of more twigs snapping and being brushed aside. Link hurried after the noise, crashing through the underbrush. He could see a shadow shifting through the woods. He leaped and tackled the figure to the ground. Red and gold eyes looked up at him in shock. "Midna?" Link questioned.
The girl with the orange hair nodded her head. Link removed himself, blushing softly. Midna stood up and took a couple of nervous steps back. "Midna, I'm your friend I won't hurt you," Link said holding up his hands.
"I know that," the girl said forcefully, "But I can't linger. He is looking for me." She looked as though she would run away when Link grabbed her arm. He wasn't rough and she could easily release herself from him.
"Stay here. It's safe here. Hylia will protect her people," Link begged holding tight to her.
Midna looked into his blue eyes and sighed. "I can't do that Link," she said before breaking contact and running back to the brush. Link looked at the empty spot she left.
"You're welcome to come at anytime," Link called out, hoping she could hear him.
LOZ-LOZ-LOZ-LOZ-
Ghirahim fingered the metal ring around his neck angrily. The collar irritated his skin and had left an angry red mark against his pale flesh. But that wasn't the worst of it; the restraint had a spell carved in ruins on it to restrict his access to his magic. He tugged on it with a sigh. He leaned his head against the cold moist stone wall of his prison. He looked up at the mold pattern on the ceiling. Silent tears slipped down his face. "Ghirahim," a deep voice called.
The princeling lowered his gaze and gave a cocky smile. Seeing Ganondorf, he nodded his greeting. "What need do you have of me?" Ghirahim asked.
"Demise wishes to see you in his room," Ganondorf stated.
Ghirahim's eyes widened, "Please, no. Not again." He wrapped his arms around his body. The prince didn't look at the older man knowing that the older man was giving him an odd look. Ghirahim shook slightly remembering the last time he had heed the same request.
"Did he," a pregnant pause, "touch you?"
Ghirahim flinched slightly and nodded quickly not trusting his voice. Ganondorf growled angrily and Ghirahim shrank back into his cell. The door of the cell swung open. Ghirahim looked up at the red-head as the taller knelt down. "Ghirahim," the older man said softly almost kindly, almost. "I will not let him harm you."
"You can't do anything about it. I'm his plaything. He has the power, not I," Ghirahim said sadly, not looking into his eyes.
"Get up," Ganondorf said pulling Ghirahim to his feet. The teen followed the older man's guidance through out of the dungeon and into the hallways. The pair traveled silently.
"Ganondorf, I was wondering where you had run off to," Demise's voice stopped the two. Ganondorf forced the two to turn and face the demon king. Ghirahim tried not to show his nervousness.
"My lord," Ganondorf greeted with a bow. Ghirahim didn't understand how the other man could show such devotion to the monstrosity in front of him. The white-haired teen wanted nothing more than to rip the king apart; not just for his fallen guard and country, but all that he had done to him.
"Where are you taking it?" Demise asked as if speaking about an object. Ghirahim narrowed his eyes; no matter how much he feared the fiery-headed man, he would never show it to him.
"I'm taking Ghirahim for a walk," Ganondorf answered and without pause explained, "He will not be of any use if he becomes lame."
Demise frowned slightly, "That is a good point." He clapped his hands and ten Bokoblins came to his side. "Take these with you. Stay within the walls," Demise commanded. Ganondorf nodded and walked toward the entrance.
The pair and their guards walked around the perimeter of the courtyard. "Ganondorf," Ghirahim started. The sorcerer looked down at the younger man. "Thank you."
"Don't mention it. And I'm serious about that. Can't have people thinking I'm going soft," Ganondorf said gruffly.
Ghirahim chuckled, "Your secret is safe with me." The prince smiled, a rusty half smile, but a smile.
