Hylia used the magic she built up in her hands to attack the mask in Demise's hands. The burst of light magic collided with the relic and sent it flying from Demise's hands. Hylia was grateful that the spell separated Demise from the powerful relic, but concerned that the spell didn't destroy the Fused Shadows. The demon king growled at Hylia and threw a ball of dark magic toward the demi-goddess. Hylia spun around teleporting close to Demise. She sliced through his scaly hide and flinched when the demon's sword caught her upper arm. Hylia looked down on the wound; it was small and wouldn't affect her fighting.
Hylia tossed a fireball at Demise. The demon king chuckled and threw a larger fireball at the spell sending it back much faster to her. Hylia gasped in surprised as the attack burned her skin. The flames burned out quickly; the demi-goddess felt fear as she saw the large spell Demise was preparing. The ball of purple magic pulsated with power. Four diamond daggers struck the king's back and the spell vaporized.
The demon growled and turned his head to see the newcomer. Hylia also looked to the disturbance. A white-haired teen around the same age of Pipit stood with his hands shackled in front of him. The look of absolute hatred shone in his eyes toward the demon king. Hylia thought the teen looked familiar, but couldn't remember where she seen him. It struck her quickly; it was Link's friend, Ghirahim, the one who was taken by Demise. She could see that the teen's time with Demise was very difficult, but still Ghirahim stood proud ready to murder the man who harmed him. "Boy, you dare challenge me?" Demise said with a scoff.
Ghirahim didn't answer or react as Demise turned to fully face the teen. Hylia took this moment of distraction to heal the burns on her body. She watched as the teen flew across the ground, tumbling. Demise chuckled amused watching the teen struggle to stand. Hylia was sickened at the sight of Demise. She formed a light arrow in her hand and shot it toward him. The arrow struck Demise in the back.
Demise turned to face Hylia and charged at her. Hylia teleported behind the charging demon. She swung her sword in his direction when he disappeared in flames. She felt the sting of a blade as it sliced into her side. Hylia teleported away from the demon king and heard the king shout in pain. She saw that three more diamond daggers laid in Demise's back. Hylia looked at Ghirahim and mentally wished him to leave. The teen didn't see her silent plea and stood stubbornly staring down the demon king.
Demise didn't stand for this and threw spell after spell at him. Ghirahim dodged each attack, but failed to noticed that the demon king had teleported by his side. Hylia shouted for him to move. The teen barely got the message. He moved to the side, but Demise's dark blade caught his side and the force behind the blow sent him through the air to fall several meters away.
Hylia charged and sliced at the demon king with her rapier. The weapon barely scratched his scaly hide. He grunted and a magical force pushed Hylia back, her heels making skid marks in the dirt. Demise turned his back to her as she was being pushed back. The demon king turned to face her again, in his hands were the fused shadows.
Hylia didn't have time to react as Demise started to glow red-orange. Waves of dark magic overtook the demon king. The waves coagulated and coated his body with substance that looked almost gummy. Four arm-like projections grew out of his back and jetted toward Hylia. She sliced through two arms before another grabbed her around her waist and tossed her like a rag doll.

Ganondorf had managed to avoid most of the battle. He was unsure whether or not he wanted to out himself as a traitor just yet. He hated to admit it to himself, but he did enjoy the power that Demise gave him. Although he did enjoy the power he had, he couldn't bear to harm his fellow Hylians. This being said, he avoided any confrontation on the battlefield. He searched for Hylia; he partially hoped that she would take him back.
The sorcerer finally caught sight of Hylia. He narrowed his eyes as he saw her being tossed around. Demise finally let go of his grasp on her and the demi-goddess tumbled to the side. She picked herself up shaking. Ganondorf watched as Demise strutted toward her confidently. Hylia looked up at the demon king with hatred. Ganondorf picked up his pace trying to reach her grace's side. He made his decision; he was going to protect Hylia even if she would reject him. He was blocked by a Hylian guard. Ganondorf looked over the man's helmet and tried to point out the demi-goddess's peril.
The guard didn't heed Ganondorf's pleading. The sorcerer reluctantly knocked the man down with his magic and continued his trek to Hylia. Demise had tossed her a further distance from Ganondorf. The sorcerer continued running. He watched as Demise stood over Hylia, his sword pointing down at her. Ganondorf watched helplessly as Demise brought down his blade.

Link stopped his battling when the moblin he faced lowered his weapon. The beast turned away from him and Link followed his gaze confused. Link saw Demise shouting standing on a large hill of upturned dirt. The blonde knight shook his head in disbelief in what the demon king was holding over his head like a prize-the disembodied head of Hylia.
"Link," a voice that Link recognized as Ghirahim's broke through his shock. Link turned his blue eyes to Ghirahim. The other teen looked ragged and tired. "We need to get out of here, now," Ghirahim shouted grabbing Link's arm and dragged him away from the battle.
"Ghirahim, we can't run," Link said looking to where Demise was cheering triumphant.
"If we don't leave now, we die," Ghirahim stated with a serious tone.
Link understood. "Fine, but we get Pipit and Midna first," Link insisted.
Ghirahim looked at Link with sad eyes, "Pipit's already out of harm's way. We'll find Midna."
The pair dodged the bodies that now piled in chaos. Weapons flashed and men shouted as the teens ran through the mass of bodies. "There she is," Link said now pulling Ghirahim to the Twili. Ghirahim snapped his fingers and daggers struck down her enemies. "Midna," Link called out, "We need to leave now." Midna rose an eyebrow, but didn't protest.
The three teens ran not looking back to the slaughter of the Hylians. They didn't stop until the shadows of a nearby forest hid them. They stopped panting trying to catch their breath. Link looked from Ghirahim to Midna. All hope for Orea was lost. The blonde knight lowered himself to the ground. He pulled his knees up to his chest. He could feel himself sinking into despair. How can anyone face Demise? How did this happen? These thoughts and others cluttered his mind and made the dark forest so much darker. He looked to his companions hoping for some insight, some ray of hope, but he didn't find any such thing. Midna was leaning against a tree a dark expression on her face. Ghirahim was turned away from the group, but his shoulders sagged tiredly. "We should keep moving," Link said at last disappointed that he sounded scared.
Ghirahim shook his head, "We should wait for Ganondorf." Link consented after a moment of persuasion.
"Here Ghirahim, let me take off those shackles," Midna said, finally breaking the dark silence. She walked to the white-haired teen and cast a spell on the metal cuffs. They fell off easily landing quietly on the ground. The three teens then fell silent.
"So do you know where Pipit went to?" Link asked Ghirahim wondering what was taking his brother so long. The white-haired teen looked anywhere but Link's direction. "Ghirahim, where is Pipit?"
