A/N: Hello, it seems like it's been forever since I updated. Anyways, Thank You Phoenix Champion for adding this to your favorites.

Midna was leading the way to Castle Town. The boys decided to have her lead because she knew how to avoid all of Demise army. She padded softly through the forest dreading the moment when the trio would have to walk across open ground. Midna slowed her pace as the trees thinned allowing more moonlight through. The silver light barely showed the path in front of her feet.

She looked back at her traveling companions. They offered a small smile each, but she knew that both were feeling as hopeless as herself. She tried not to think about the future because how bleak it looked. All those who could defeat Demise were gone and now the demon king had the power to destroy whatever remained of the kingdoms of Orea.

Whatever hope for the land rested on the three of them. Midna sighed heavily and looked up to the starfilled sky that peaked through the thinning canopy. "Please, we need a miracle to fix this," she softly whispered to the heavens. The Twili princess lowered her gaze back to the ground as she saw the edge of the forest.

She stopped and Link and Ghirahim stopped beside her. They looked at the vast expanse of silver grassland. Midna looked from left to right. There wasn't a sign of any living thing on the plain. "It looks safe to cross," Ghirahim stated also looking for any danger.

Midna took a deep breath, "I agree. Let's continue." The Twili princess walked slowly. She tiptoed as if she could be overheard. Her eyes kept darting around the moonlit landscape. She didn't realize that she was holding her breath until she gasped at a twig branch.

Ghirahim chuckled when she spun around to face him. Midna frowned at him wondering how he could laugh at a time like this. Instead of speaking, she just rolled her eyes and continued her path toward Castle Town.

"What's that light?" Link asked from behind. Midna looked straight ahead. Along the edge of the horizon, a warm orange light glowed. It was almost like the first rays of sunlight were peaking from the western sky.

"That's not good," Ghirahim breathed. Without a word to each other, the trio ran toward the light. Midna could hear her heartbeat in ears. The light grew brighter and brighter. She could see the outline of Castle Town's walls. Smoke billowed above the glow within the walls.

"No," Link shouted and pushed past Midna.

"Link," Ghirahim and Midna shouted simultaneously. The pair ran after the Hylian. The princeling soon left Midna behind with his longer strides.

"Ghirahim, Link, we need to stay together," Midna shouted as she tried to keep up with the boys who kept running head first to the burning city. Midna watched as Ghirahim closed the distance between himself and the Hylian. The white-haired teen tackled the knight to the ground. Midna ran till she was beside the two.

"Get off of me, Ghirahim," Link shouted pushing the other teen off.

"You can't just run in there," Ghirahim said just as loudly. "They can still be bokoblins in there."

Midna could see that Link wanted to argue and interrupted, "He's right, Link. Do you know any secret entrance?"

Link frowned in thought, "There's an opening in the walls by the cemetery."

LOZ-LOZ-LOZ-

Ghirahim followed the Link as he slipped through a small hole in the stone walls. He slid through easily and landed on his feet. The cemetery was still and quiet. He looked at the white tombstones laying side by side. "Link," he called out, his voice cracking a little.

The Hylian turned around, "Ghirahim?"

"Is she here?" Ghirahim asked feeling a lump form in his throat. Link looked at him and shook his head slowly. He pointed to a far stone under a small flowering bush. "I'll follow later. I need to take care of something."

Link didn't question; he just nodded his understanding and continued out of the cemetery with Midna on his heels. Ghirahim watched the pair disappear into the shadows. He then turned to the tombstone. He walked slowly to it. He paused in front of the cold stone. Ghirahim put a hand on its smooth surface. "Hey, Rahzel," he whispered. Of course he didn't get a response. "I just wanted to say thank you. You saved my life," he continued feeling tears burning his eyes. The prince didn't say anything allowing himself to enjoy the silence.

"You'll be next," a male voice said from behind Ghirahim. The princeling turned around quickly. He gasped as he saw a translucent form looking exactly like his father.

"Father," Ghirahim greeted unsure.

The older ghostly man scoffed. "You heard me. If you keep following the Twili and Hylian, you're going to end up dead."

"But they're my friends," Ghirahim said angry.

"What's the use of friends if you are all going to die horrible deaths? You need to go back to Demise," the specter said sure.

"But if I go back, I'll be his plaything," Ghirahim said.

"But you'll survive this slaughter," the ghost said sharply.

"He'll be surviving. That's not living," a female voice said from behind Ghirahim. The prince turned halfway. Sitting on her tombstone was a ghostly vision of Rahzel. She was frowning at the specter of her former king.

"Rahzel," Ghirahim breathed. The ghost girl gave him a small smile.

"Don't listen to her. She was the one who got you captured in the first place," Ghirahim's father shouted.

"I saved his life," Rahzel's ghost shouted just as fiercely back. "You did nothing for him." The older ghost bristled at her tone, but she didn't speak to him again. "Ghirahim, you can't abandon Link and Midna. Things look bad, but I believe that the three of you can defeat Demise."

Ghirahim looked from one specter to the other. The two seemed to fade slowly. Soon he was left alone in the sea of silent stone. He thought about what the two had said. He didn't know what was coming, but he knew he had to stick with his friends. So with his mind made up he ran where he saw them leave.
