A/N: Hello everyone, It's been ages since I updated. I'm truly sorry, but classes have been very difficult lately. Annd I'm sure you all don't care. Thank you Legendary Facepalm, Arklyx, and tadanomarz for following and favoriting this fic.
Link ran through the smoke, coughing as it entered his nose. It burned his eyes and caused his eyes to water. He looked at the streets that he used to walk as a child. The even stones now were shattered. Bodies that normally danced in the street were now lying still on the ground. Link ran to the center of castle town. He looked up at the statue of the Triforce. The three triangles were shattered and scattered along the ground.
"Link," Midna called out running up to the hero. She stopped her movement to slide in beside him. She panted slightly. "We need to get out of here." She put her arms around his shoulders, trying to comfort him. "Ghirahim is looking for survivors, but he hasn't found any yet." She looked down at her feet. The Twili lowered her arms and grabbed his hand. She cradled it between both of hers, "We'll set things right. We just need to work together."
"That's a nice sediment," another female voice called. The pair turned to the voice to see a Sheikah woman walk up to them. She glared at the two. "The only hope we have of surviving is to get off this land. Sail across the sea and away from Demise."
"Who do you think you are?" Midna asked giving the newcomer a glare.
The blonde Sheikah glared back at the Twili, "The name's Sheik. I was one of the Sheikah Guards."
"You didn't do your job very well," Midna said separating from Link and putting her hands on her hips.
"As I was saying, we all need to leave this land. Now that Demise has the Fused Shadows, nothing can stop him," Sheik said.
"The Triforce could," Ghirahim's voice sounded as he walked into view.
"A fairy tale," Sheik said with a scoff.
Ghirahim hummed to himself, "Perhaps, but this would be the time that the pieces would manifest themselves."
Link looked between his friends and the Sheikah. "Guys, stop. There's no need to fight," he finally shouted at last. "Remember who the enemy is."
"I remember exactly who our enemy is. That is why I'm leaving," Sheik said gruffly. As the Sheikah turned away from the group, a loud hiss filled the air. The four teens looked around at all the intersecting streets trying to find the source of the noise.
Link looked up after he searched over the streets. He drew his sword as he saw a large dragon draped across the remaining roofs. Its head was laying on its crossed paws and its eyes were shut. The four teens looked at each other nervously. Wordlessly, they all tiptoed away from the sleeping dragon.
Once they were sure that they wouldn't be heard, Sheik spoke again, "That is what destroyed everything." The hate in her eyes was obvious. "None of the knights could stop it. I thought it left," Sheik said softly. The woman shook her head, "It doesn't matter because I'm still leaving."
The Sheikah jumped onto a nearby roof. There was a creak and the Sheikah fell through the unstable rooftop. The wood caused a domino effect knocking down nearby planks and bricks. The blonde Sheikah shook her head dazed. Midna looked back to where the dragon laid to see if it woke up.
There was a moment of silence which was broken by a loud roar. Link drew his sword as the dragon landed on the stone street, cracking the stones. It opened its massive jaws and roared spittle flying.
Link gathered his courage and charged the large reptile. His silver blade sliced through the dragon's red scales. "Link," Midna's voice called to him. The young knight didn't listen to her cries even when she screamed to retreat.
Link dodged the dragon's claws. "Leave him. If he wants to be charred to death, let him," Sheik said from afar. Link sliced at the dragon when it extended its wings. Giving the appendages a good beat, the dragon rose in the air. The wind blew him off his feet. Link could feel himself falling until a pair of arms stopped him.
"I got you," Ghirahim said before pulling Link back to his feet. "We're right behind you." Link nodded his thanks before turning to the dragon. The beast dove toward the teams spinning into a fiery spiral. The three teens jumped back as the fiery mass hit the ground. The mass stood up revealing the form of a man in red armor.
The man looked from one to the other, "Children, I do not wish to fight you. On my honor as a Dragon Knight, I swore to never harm the innocent."
Link narrowed his eyes at the 'dragon knight' and took a small step back to see if the man would attack. "Thank you, sir," Link spoke up. "We will take our leave." Link continued to walk backwards and the man remained standing with his arms crossed. Link placed a hand on Ghirahim's and Midna's shoulders indicating that they could move. Both stepped with him slowly.
"Don't believe him, he was the one who destroyed everything," Sheik's voice said. The woman was quick to attack the dragon knight. Link tried to grab her arm as she flew by to strike the older man. Link watched the woman's throwing knives struck the man's red armor with a small clink. The man growled angrily.
"I gave you the choice to retreat and you failed to see my mercy," the dragon knight snarled. He struck the Sheikah with his lance which knocked her back. He didn't pay attention to the trio opting to focus on the Sheikah. Link watched as the dragon knight hit her again; he took a small step forward debating whether to save the Sheikah.
"Let's leave her," Midna said, " She chose to fight him." Link looked at the Twili who was already turning her back on the fight. Link looked to Ghirahim to see if he also didn't want to leave Sheik. The white-haired teen's eyes darted away from him as he also turned away.
Link didn't blame his friends for not aiding the Sheikah woman; she did bring it upon herself, but he couldn't stand by and watch her get killed. Although the dragon knight was obviously very powerful, Link didn't shirk, but instead drew his courage and charged at the dragon knight.
