Chapter 11 Wayne Thank you party and Operation Sucker Punch launch

A/N: Hi all my deepest apologies for the lengthy hiatus since the last chapter. I have not forgotten about this story as so many people want me to continue. I have been so very very busy with helping everyone else leaves no time for me to do what I want to do. It's Easter so here is a special Easter surprise from me to you all. Anyways finally finished this chapter, it took a while as I wanted to make it worth the wait. It took a little while to come together. I also realised that to set the scene for Operation Sucker Punch the performances required songs to be believable. The lyrics as well as the characters are not mine, I have listed who the lyrics are from in the hope that this is acceptable in this domain. If not I will remove and go back to the drawing board to be really creative in painting the picture for you all.

I would appreciate any and all ideas on how to do this as using the songs from various artists that we are all familiar with helps makie you feel as if you are there with them. If I must refrain from using these, then so be it. As always thank you all for the wonderful reviews, followers and readers. Wally and Bea were laughing as they entered the Watchtower Cafeteria as they recalled when they first started practicing for Operation Sucker Punch and the many mistakes they had made. As the doors slid open and they both turned, their eyes widened in absolute awe at what they saw. The room was lit up like a star filled sky and there were projections of all the planets in the solar system as well as those that some of their team mates had heralded from.

There were also the planets that they had come to know about in their capacity as Justice League members. It was a sight to behold and was stunning in its splendour. They slowly walked in marvelling at how wondrous it all looked, while party guests already there were shocked at how stunning Bea looked and how Wally scrubbed up, also what a nice couple they made.

The doors slid open and in walked Greg, Justin, Ollie and John talking about the latest pro football game and who would win the Super bowl. They took a step in and their jaws dropped as one as they looked to the front of the room on a makeshift stage set up there. On the stage was life size cut outs of what appeared to be each and every member of the Justice League past and present. There were already people standing beside various ones posing and taking photos.

The joy and excitement of posing with one's childhood hero or idol was too much to resist and they were no exception, they made their way towards the front of the room playfully shoving each other out of the way to vie for the first photo opportunity.

Dinah and Helena walked in next and couldn't stop admiring the skyline of the room whilst all the men there looked at them admiringly in their attire, quite a few wolf whistles could be heard. Then they looked towards the front of the room where they could see the men posing in front of various Justice League female member cut outs and moving them so they could have group shots together. They smiled and continued to look around the room until they saw the bar area that had been setup, they looked at each other smiling and then high-fived one another as they hurried across. What they found when they got there was absolute heaven to their eyes.

The bar had an array of signature cocktails to honour certain League members. Each one had a small place card in front of it advising the cocktail name, the ingredients and the honourary Superhero or heroine. They had catchy names too from what they could see, among them there was the Green Lantern Slammer, Flash Flood (Mudslide), Thanagarian Tempter, Themyiscarian Island Iced Tea, Kryptonian Krush, Jungle Juice (Mari), Aviation (Hal), Dark and Stormy (Bruce), Godmother (Helena) and many more.

Dinah and Helena shook hands making a pact to sample every single one before the night was over, after Operation Sucker Punch was done. They rubbed their hands together eagerly to have their warm up one before their performance. They each made their way over to their chosen drink.

Mari and Shayera arrived next as the door slid closed behind them people nearby turned to stare at both women. Shayera suddenly got nervous thinking back to when people stared at her after the Thanagarian invasion with pure hatred in their eyes. She suddenly turned to Mari, "I can't do this, they are staring at me as if they hate me" she began to panic and took a step back towards the door.

"Honey, they are staring at you not because they hate you but because you are absolutely gorgeous, look at them…." Shayera slowly turned to look at people and realised Mari was right, "look at John" Mari whispered "you got this Shay, work it baby work it!"

Shay looked at John whose mouth hung open and they were bright green with hunger. She gathered her courage and smiled at him. Both women did not move as they watched their men make their way towards them. Greg had to shake his head vigorously and then look at Mari again, she was a vision that he would forever hold dear to his heart, and she smiled encouragingly at him as he walked over to her. John couldn't take his eyes of Shayera.

"Hey…" Greg and John said together.

"Hey yourself…" Mari and Shay replied.

"Aahhh.." Greg and John said again scratching their heads in unison.

Mari and Shay giggled. Mari looped her arm through Greg's and said, "C'mon Cowboy how about I let you buy me a drink?"

"Yes Ma'am" Greg replied as they walked away, "Mari honey?"

"Yes Greg?"

"You take my breath away"

"You're off to a good start Cowboy, let's see if I can improve on that….maybe make you faint?"

"I'd like to see that" he rolled his eyes at her. Mari just smiled serenely at him. He began to chew his lower lip nervously. Mari laughed as they made their way to the bar.

John and Shayera continued to look at each other silently "Shay you look beautiful"

"Thank you John" she said awkwardly, they both went silent again.

"I think I need a drink" John muttered.

"I'll second that"

John lifted his arm and Shayera looked at him a little shocked and then smiled as she looped her arm through his like Mari had with Greg. They smiled at each other again and walked over to the bar.

J'onn, Vic and Hal walked in next as they had caught the lift together up from the teleportation bay. Vic searched for Helena and upon finding her excused himself and walked towards her. J'onn was impressed with the way Hal had seemed to be a lot calmer in his approach these days, more mature and he had a feeling he knew why. When they entered the room he say Hal's eyes immediately start to search the room and then suddenly light up when it seemed he found what he was looking for, J'onn turned to see he was staring at Dinah who was standing with Ollie, Helena, Vic and Donna which confirmed his suspicions.

He saw Dinah smile at Hal and beckon him over to join their group, as Hal made his way over to them he saw Ollie frown and take a step closer to Dinah and put a hand possessively around her waist. Dinah turned to glare at him and Ollie quickly withdrew his hand just as Hal arrived. Dinah turned to smile at Hal and the rest of the group greeted him and they all continued to talk excitedly.

J'onn liked Hal a lot, for all his gung-ho over confident mannerisms he had a good heart, J'onn hoped things worked out for him. He looked at Dinah and then searched and found Ollie….for all of them.

The door slid open to reveal Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent engaging in friendly banter. When Clark turned to look at the room he gave a low appreciative whistle, "Bruce you sure do know how to throw a party!"

Bruce smiled "They all deserve it….WE all deserve it"

"That's the spirit Bruce!" he turned to see the colourful array of cocktails on the bar,"…speaking of which.."

"Careful Clark, don't have too many" Bruce warned.

"As if I could get drunk on any of those" Clark scoffed.

"Not all of them are normal human alcoholic drinks, my friend, there are quite a lot of off planet ingredients in them"

Clark paused, then shrugged his shoulders, "You only live once Bruce, c'mon let's at least have a few and enjoy things for a change"

Bruce lifted an eye skeptically, Clark rolled his eyes, "I didn't mean get blind roaring drunk, just a few to warm the insides so to speak" then wiggled his eyebrows comically at him.

It was Bruce's turn to roll his eyes, "If anything bad comes out of this Kent, I am coming for you"

"Uh huh" Clark grinned as they walked towards the bar both men's eyes eagerly searching for the woman they wanted to see. They looked at each other knowing they weren't there yet, both silently acknowledging the step they would take tonight. They continued towards the bar greeting everyone they passed as everyone couldn't seem to stop thanking Bruce for the wonderful party.

The party was in full swing now and the music was playing in the background as people were having too much fun yet to hit the dance floor. The laughter and excited conversations added to the relaxed atmosphere even though everyone was dressed to the nines. It seemed like it was a moment in time they all appreciated especially in the lives they lead as the Justice League.

The door slid open again to allow an animated Diana and Zatanna in as they looked up at the ceiling, all conversation ceased as everyone stopped and stared at the two beauties pointing up at the beautiful skyline. People were staring not only because of their stunning appearance but also due to the childlike air of excitement they displayed, their cheeks were flushed and they both seemed to be full of energy.

Clark and Bruce along with most of the men and a few women stood there with mouths hung open. Bruce had to pull at his collar slightly feeling a little overheated at how Zatanna looked. Clark's eyes glowed red slightly with hunger taking in every inch of Diana from her dainty feet, all the way up her gorgeous legs to the stunning curves in her equally stunning dress to the beautiful face he loved with all his heart.

Both ladies then turned to the crowd and were shocked to see them all staring, Zee smiled widely and walked towards Dinah and Helena. She was intercepted by Bruce who bowed slightly and extending his arm towards her said, "You look beautiful Zee, would you join me for a drink?"

She looked at him silently.

He smiled warmly at her, "My shout?"

This made her lips turn up and she placed her hand on his arm, "Why not? If Bruce Wayne is buying, I'm drinking!"

Diana stood rooted to the spot as people continued to stare at her, she bit her lip nervously.

"Di, don't bite your lip you'll ruin your lipstick and make them bleed"

She blinked and turned to find Clark had used his super speed to be at her side, she smiled tentatively at him.

"You look amazing Di" her smile grew wider, "would you do me the honour of allowing me to be your escort for tonight beautiful lady?", he breathed.

She grinned and nodded as Clark reached for her hand and tucked it underneath his arm. They turned to the room to see the party had returned to normal and those still staring at them grinned appreciatively and nodded knowingly towards them. Clark proudly guided Diana towards the bar to get them both a drink.

Everyone was enjoying themselves immensely as they all took in the wonderful sights around them, sampling the wonderful food on display from the splendid buffet of meats and dishes to the fantastic candy and dessert table beside it. What made them even more spectacular was that the candy and dessert table had desserts dedicated to each and every hero there, with a picture of them in front of each one. Many were having as many cocktails as they could and were starting to relax enough to ask some of their idols to dance. Diana, Shayera, Mari, Dinah, Clark, J'onn, Bruce and even Vic had been asked several times to dance. Seeing the eagerness in their eyes none of them could refuse and were happy to oblige them all.

As the latest song playing ended a tapping on a microphone drew everyone's attention to the DJ area where they saw Wally standing there.

"Ladies and Gentlemen of the Justice League tonight we have a very special surprise for you all. Could I please ask everyone to clear the dance floor", everyone moved to do as he requested. Once the floor was clear Wally continued.

"Tonight the Justice Divas present to you Oooperatioooon SUCKER PUNCH!"

Everyone in the room clapped as they looked at each other a little puzzled wondering what was going on.

Suddenly Mari walked out to the middle of the dance floor, everyone could see she was wearing a headset microphone. Greg smiled and moved towards the front of the crowd for a better view. She turned around to face everyone and winking mischievously to him she began their routine.

Dinah stepped out of the line (Ollie and Hal smiled and clapped enthusiastically and then turned to glare at one another) and began to sing whilst the other ladies danced with her

Or eighteen karat gold They ran their hand from wrist to shoulder on the left and then repeated it on the right as if they were dripping in gold
Fancy cars that go very fast Using their hands in front of them they mimicked driving a car and then placing their right hand over their eyes they swung to the right quickly as if watching something speed quickly by
You know they never last, no, no Finishing off watching the speeding object they winced as if watching it crash then shook their heads

Dinah stepped back into line as Diana (Clark clapped loudly and shouted "Go Diana" to which she beamed at him) took her place and began to sing
What you need is a big strong hand All the ladies took their left hand and stretching it out in front of them lowered it slowly towards the ground
To lift you to your higher ground Then slowly lifted it towards the ceiling
Make you feel like a queen on a throne Using their hands over their heads they mimicked placing a crown on their heads
Make him love you till you can't come down Linking arms again and crossing their hands across their chest they all slowly floated towards the ceiling. The crowd went wild. Wally sped in front of the ladies and sang in a deep voice
(You'll never come down) then sped out again. The crowd's appreciation and laughter was loud as they continued to clap in time to the music.

The ladies repeated the chorus and their dance steps as they did earlier. Zatanna stepped out of the line this time, Bruce cupped his hands in front of his mouth and yelled, "Woo hoo" as Zee blushed and began to sing
Long stem roses are the way to your heart All the ladies suddenly held long stemmed roses which they took and biting on the stem wiggled their eyebrows. The crowd laughed and clapped loudly.
But he needs to start with your head Suddenly the roses disappeared and the ladies pointed to their brains
Satin sheets are very romantic Each woman was suddenly wrapped in a satin sheet rubbing their hands all over their bodies. (All the men gulped)
What happens when you're not in bed The sheets disappeared as the ladies rolled their eyes. (All the women laughed)

Zee stepped back into line as Helena stepped out, Vic yelled out, "Give em hell, Hel". The crowd laughed as Helena blew a kiss to him and began to sing
You deserve the best in life The ladies made a thumbs up sign with the right and then the left and all nodded as one
So if the time isn't right then move on Looking down at their wrists they shook their heads and then all turned to face the right and marched as if leaving
Second best is never enough They then turned back to face the crowd and stretched their right arm in front of them with the forefinger and middle finger in a V like sign whilst shaking their heads
You'll do much better baby on your own They then dusted their left shoulder off twice and then dusted their right shoulder off twice and then crossed their arms in front of their chests and leaned to the left slightly.

Wally sped in front of them again and sang in a deep voice
(Baby on your own) he sped out again as the crowd roared with laughter and applause.

Shayera stepped out of the line, whilst John whooped loudly and rolled his left forearm in front of him wildly. Shay smiled at him and began to sing

Try to carry on, but he just won't get it They stretched their arms out in front of them and with their hands in fists put one on top of the other twice and then pulled them apart whilst shaking their heads
He'll be back on his knees They bent over slightly placing their hands on knees they wiggled their shoulders back and forth. Shayera stepped back into line as all ladies sang.

Bea stepped out as Wally sped in pretended to swoon and sped back out, the crowd erupted cheering him loudly as Bea wiggled her fingers at him and began to sing

Dinah and Helena knelt down side by side in front of her and stretched out their opposite legs and stretched out their opposite arms outright. Shayera and Diana floated on each side of Mari with their legs crossed and arms stretched out in a big V. Whilst Bea and Zatanna leaned against them with their arms crossed and heads facing the crowd.

Express yourself Mari sang to end and then raised her left arm and then right arm in a big V to finish.

The crowd whooped and cheered loudly, and many a wolf whistle could be heard amongst them as they applauded the ladies. Their respective men along with Hal, J'onn and Donna clapping and yelling the loudest at such a wonderful unexpected surprise. The ladies all formed one line again to bow respectively to the crowd. They all made their way back to their crowd except Mari.

Wally sped in and handed Mari a microphone as she handed him her headset and kissed him on the cheek in gratitude. A blushing Wally sped out again as the crowd laughed.

The music began and the crowd fell silent. Mari then began to sing. Greg closed his eyes to listen to her sweet voice.

Greg stood with his heart in his eyes for his Mari. He was thinking back to the first moment they met remembering how he had felt and now knowing she had felt the same though she had not known it herself.

They were the best of friends and he knew from this moment on they would spend the rest of their lives together, if his Mari would let them. He had been a stubborn ass for so long he had to stop fooling himself that he didn't deserve her, because he did. They both deserved happiness, and he was damn sure from now on he was going to ensure they got it.

Mari could see that Greg had a change of heart by the love shining in his eyes for her. She knew that Operation Sucker Punch had finally made her dream come true. Her Greg had finally gotten it into his big stubborn bonehead they were meant to be together. She would always be eternally grateful to Diana and Zee for allowing her to be a part of Operation Sucker Punch. She looked at them in turn, nodding with gratitude in her eyes.

Thunderous applause erupted when Mari finished. She curtsied deeply to the crowd in appreciation and as she rose was suddenly wrapped up in a big bear hug.

"My Mari you were right all along, I have been a stubborn ass, please forgive me and give me a chance to make you happy. I love you and want to be with you, until we are old and grey in rocking chairs together"

Mari laughed loudly with tears in her eyes, "You crazy nut cowboy you finally got my message"

"Loud and clear pardner, loud and clear", he turned to the crowd and yelled, "I love Mari McCabe!"

The crowd cheered and clapped wildly at this unexpected development happy for them both.

"I love you Greg Saunders", Mari whispered into his ear then laid her head on his chest in contentment.

Greg puffed his chest out with pride and tipping his hat to the crowd led Mari off the dance floor. As the crowd continued to clap and cheer.
