AN: Oh my word it's been forever! I am SO sorry! Been focusing on life and other stories. Hopefully this appeases you all!
After Harry's fall, Sirius and Remus were extra careful with him. And while it was fun in the beginning, Harry was getting sick of being coddled. So he started acting out. He would race down the hill their little house was on that led to the town below, nearly giving Sirius and Remus both heart attacks when they saw what he was doing. Finally they had to have a "family discussion" in the living room.
"Cub, what's wrong? Why are you acting like this?" Remus had Harry on his lap and was petting his hair back from his face.
Harry was quiet, staring down at the hands he had folded in his lap. Finally, he mumbled something, but Sirius and Remus didn't catch it.
"We can't hear you, Sweetheart. Speak just a little louder," Remus instructed gently.
"You know you can tell us anything, don't you, Pup? You're safe here. This is a safe space," Sirius also encouraged.
Harry sighed heavily and then turned huge green eyes on his guardians, "I don't want to be coddled anymore. I want to do things for myself."
"Oh, Cub!" Remus let a big grin and a relieved laugh escape him, "Of course you can do things on your own! I guess we have been babying you a little too much. But nothing reckless. You nearly killed me with the race down the hill."
"Yeah... Sorry..." Harry murmured.
"It's okay, Pup," Sirius leaned forward in his seat to put a hand on Harry's knee, "Thank you for telling us."
Harry kicked his feet shyly, "Can I go play now?"
"Of course you can, Cub. You know we love you, right?"
"I know," Harry smiled up at them both, "I love you too."
Finally he was released, and as he went off to play, his two guardians watched him go, all the while knowing that their little boy was growing up.
