Callie walked into the kitchen, the clean smell always made her always feel welcomed into her home. Walking inside she set her backpack on the chair of the breakfast nook. She went to a cabinet and grabbed a glass, then made her way to the fridge and pulled out a pitcher of water and poured herself a glass of water. As she set down the pitcher, Sophia walked in and greeted Callie. Callie greeted back, "Where's Jude?" She asked her sister.

"In his room," Sophia sat on the bar stool across from Callie, "Can I have a glass?" Callie smirked and gave Sophia the glass, slightly sliding it across the table. She grabbed another glass and poured some water into it.

"How was school?" Callie wondered as she placed the pitcher back into the fridge. She walked over to the other side of the island and sat next to Sophia.

Sophia shrugged nonchalantly staring at the glass in thought. This gave a strange vibe for Callie but she immediately brushed it off. "It was cool. Science is still the most boring subject in the world."

"I can help you. I may not be Albert Einstein but I can try," Callie offered. Sophia smiled wide at her sister, "You mean like study buddies!"

Sophia's excitement made Callie chuckle, "Yes, like study buddies." As the girls were laughing, Robert entered with a briefcase in hand. He greeted the girls with a kiss on the top of their heads to which they greeted back. He set down the case and stepped over to the other side of the island between the two girls. He set his elbows on counter with his chin resting on his intertwined hands. A slight smirk appeared on his lips that was somewhat blocked by his index fingers that were pressed together and pointing up at the ceiling. The sisters looked at each other in suspicion, knowing that their father was hiding something from them

"What is it, dad?" Callie asked.

"I have a little...present for the both of you," he teased knowing that it wasn't a good answer for his daughters. Sophia and Callie asked what the present was, they were taken by surprise. It was past Christmas and the girls birthday's were not anywhere close to receive a gift, not even an early look of anticipation was just what Robert needed to tell his kids the surprise. "You know that room next to the guest room that no one ever uses," the girls nodded in response, "I was going to convert it into a man cave for poker nights and the big games, but then I had another idea that would benefit the majority of the family."

"What is it?" Sophia inquired.

"Follow me," Robert gestured in the direction going to the door of the room which no one used. The girls followed eagerly behind curious to what the room was. Countless thoughts and images swarmed their heads at the possibilities that their father could manage to achieve. He placed his hand on the door knob and when he looked like he was about to reveal the surprise, he turned to the girls. "Now we may not be Ansel Adams, but I found a way we can come close. And I know we've been using digital for a while now, so I think it's time we move to a different medium." He opened the door and a soft red showed through, "Welcome to your very own red room!"

The two squealed and hugged their dad, "Thanks daddy," Sophia chirped and went into the room.

Callie looked at her dad and smiled, "When did you do this?" Robert motioned her inside and they went into the room together. It took Callie a moment for her eyes to adjust the darkness, but she could see all the things the room offered. There was a long counter of trays for chemical baths. Strings stretched from one end of the room to the other. There was a shelf on the side of the room which laid over a dozens of vintage film cameras. Callie was truly amazed by the gift her father had given her. "I have some tricks up my sleeve," his daughter hugged him tight giving a polite thank you.

"Well, just don't stand there, look around," Robert said proudly. He loved making his girls happy, and seeing the joy on their faces. "Callie," Robert added, "I also signed you up for a film photography class at the college."

"Really?" Callie gasped in amazement.

"Hey, that's not fair," Sophia pouted turning away from the trays to face her father.

"I'm sorry, sweetheart," Robert walked over to Sophia, "The class is only for high school and college students can attend, but in a few years you'll be able to take the course."

Sophia nodded understanding, she was excited that she was included in these activities. It was not a moment later that the door opened and Jill's voice was heard, "Hello," Jill called, "Where is everyone?" They left the room as the girls told her the exciting news.

"Dad even got me some photography classes," Callie smiled. It took her a year or so before Callie could call Jill mom. Considering that Jill wasn't her biological mother, but the two became close and soon the title of mother fit perfectly.

Jill congratulated Callie and loved to see her girls happy. She wanted the best for them. "Alright, girls, go get ready for dinner. Tell Jude the same would you Callie," Callie nodded as she made her way up the stairs. She passed Jude's room and looked inside, he was laying on the bed with a book in hand. This was unusual considering he use to always be playing video games until it was bedtime.

She walked in and gave a gentle knock on the door. This caused Jude to look up from his read, "Hey, bud, can I come in?" Callie asked. Jude gave a nod as he set down his book on the nightstand. "How was school?" Callie sat down at the foot of his bed.

Jude sat up and looked at his sister, "It's was good I guess. Nothing too eventful. Just school." Callie nodded then stood up.

"Mom said to get ready for dinner. It should be ready soon," this time it was Jude who nodded.

Callie smiled and walked to the door, "Callie," she turned around at the sound of her name and looked at her baby brother curious.

He appeared as if he had something to say, which he did, "I just…." but he decided against it, "never mind. It's not important." He stretched over to grab his book, he looked so careless but Callie felt something was wrong.

"Jude, are you okay?" She walked back over to him but he didn't respond. She then bent down to look at her brother at eye level and put her hand on top of his. "You know you can tell me anything, right?"

"I'm fine, Callie. It wasn't important anyway," Jude shrugged it off. Callie sigh and gave an okay in response. She knew how stubborn Jude could be and knew any more advance would be unsuccessful. She pat his hand gently and got up again, but before she could leave Jude grabbed her wrist. "Wait," Callie looked down at Jude thinking she would get something out of him, "what was all that screaming downstairs?"

Callie chuckled, she almost forgot to tell Jude about her new present, "Dad gave me and Sophia a red room." Jude nodded, he was happy that Callie got something she enjoyed, but truthfully he didn't care. It sounded terrible, but he was also a bit jealous of his older was unaware of Jude's feelings, but how could she know they were not as close to each other as Jude wished.
