Little Moments

"I take it that ice-skating wasn't part of Division training," Sean came to a stop next to Michael with a bemused smile, his words accompanied by white puffs of air in the cold winter weather.

As an answer, Michael only raised an eyebrow while he kept his eyes on Nikita, Alex and Birkhoff as the trio stood on wobbly legs on the ice, not venturing far from the edge of the frozen lake. It seemed that Nikita at least found her balance but her tense posture told Michael that that was all she'd managed and even she didn't dare to do any sudden movements. Alex and Birkhoff, on the other hand, had a difficult time handling the situation. While Alex stood with her feet forming a V, only jolting a couple of times when she was disturbed in her concentration, Birkhoff made the prefect impression of a butterfly on drugs with his arms and legs constantly moving in four different directions. The man actually managed to fall standing in one place. "Maybe skating wasn't such a good idea after all," Sean winced as Alex lost her balance as a group of boys sped past her. The men watched as, instinctively, she grabbed for some support, only finding Nikita, who automatically reached for her falling friend, realizing it only too late that she herself wasn't able to maintain her balance to keep her friend up. With a squeal from Alex and a surprised yelp from Nikita, the duo landed in a heap on the ice and was promptly joined by Birkhoff, who, by just watching them, lost his not exactly maintained equilibrium and landed on the girls face first.

"Oh, it was a great idea," Michael countered, apparently thoroughly enjoying the show. They exchanged a humorous snort, then started towards their friends with expert movements, the blade of their skates gliding on the ice effortlessly.
