Genesis Part Two

A/N: This chapter is a bit late, due to problems at home and because I accidently erased this chapter when I was halfway done.

Still stuck in a state of envious disbelief, the teen hero could only say "Um, yeah…"

"Still waiting on your lady friend huh", the suit clad stranger mused, blowing a large cloud of smoke onto Ben's face.

Meanwhile in the bar…

Amidst the cloy smell of smoke and stale beer, sat an exasperated scientist fuming at her 'friend'.

The 'friend' in question is an average middle age man whose shifty eyes and mannerism makes everything he does seem oily and dirty.

"Callan, I've made deals with you before, so what is the problem making a deal now?"

"Babe, that was before the new Boss came to town", Callan laughed. "Large orders and things that involve Midgar security require the Boss' approval."

"I did business with you before because you were an independent contractor, if you are working for someone then there is no need to talk business", Lucrecia said calmly; getting ready to leave.

"Look Lady, I doubt that you will find someone independent in this town; at least, a person that doesn't have a death wish", Callan commented quickly not willing to lose a past customer.

Half raised in the attempt to leave, the scientist made herself comfortable again in the chair and raise an eyebrow for Callan to continue his explanation.

"Look, I don't know where the new Boss came from, but he just showed up in the bar one night saying that he was bored and going to take over everyone's operations for fun. Of course, we all laughed at him, and then he… well, let's just say it wasn't pretty."

"It's either the Boss or no merchandise… Don't worry, I've already sent for the Boss and it will only take a few minutes to get his approval", the shifty counterfeiter said; already picturing the money in his grubby hands.

"Besides he might leave soon, I think he is getting bored again", Callan snorted humorlessly "Freedom at the price of ennui"

Outside the bar…

Ben calmly leaned against a lamppost, "Who's asking", he retorted; the man strangely reminding him of Kevin.

The guy gave off a sly aura like Kevin, only he felt different… darker and more dangerous; like a snake that could strike at any time, already coiled to spring.

The orange haired man ignored the question, using the time to flick off ash and blow more smoke onto Tennyson's face.

Ben coughed, waving the smoke away from his face, "Dude, smoking isn't good for you and stalking isn't healthy either, I'm starting to feel like I need an adult."

"Tch, Business isn't stalking; besides, it seems that the little lady needs help with some supplies", he smirked then headed towards the bar entrance; the teen following behind him warily.

As Lucrecia waited patiently with Callan, she looked around the room aimlessly as the sleaze ball tried to covertly flirt with her.

She didn't noticed at first, but a severe change in atmosphere was becoming very apparent… half of the merry patrons (apparently the locals) who had just been happily drinking a pint now looked solemn and watchful.

The sudden change in persona sent alarm bells ringing in the scientist's mind; her panic increased when she saw who was coming through the door…

The man couldn't have been anything other than a Turk; the way he moved, dressed, and his subtle body language; forcing out vivid memories of Lucrecia's former career.

She felt frozen in the chair, numb by the massive explosion of emotions flooding her body… the unpleasant bitter taste of fear and the even bitter taste of failure…

She was almost to the point of giving up in despair, until Ben entered the bar behind the Turk, the teen giving her a slight reassuring nod, his expression calm.

The sight of the powerful teen gave her more courage; strengthening her resolve and the massive amount of anger towards herself…

"I am so weak; ready to give up without a fight. You have seen what happens when people fight against Hojo… Professor Gast… Vincent… a poisonous voice whispered in the back of her mind. No, I can't give up", she thought with determination. "No longer will I be a coward, this time I'm going to fight"

Lucrecia schooled her expression, ready to fight and armed herself with the best carefully crafted lies that she could come up with.

As the Turk came through the door with the weirdly dressed green eyed teen following close behind, the behavior of the patrons are mixed.

While the more innocent locals and tourists greeted the Casanova with happy laughter and smiles; the shady quickly focus their attention back to their mugs, knowing that having their noses in the Boss's business would only lead to an early death or worst.

With the criminal population cowed and the rest easily pushed aside with vivid doses of charm, the man easily reached the table with Ben in tow.

The bar owner, fully aware of just how dangerous this man is, quickly offer/ushered the group to a more private table in the back.

Determined to succeed, Crescent struck first, her voice calm and steady "Now that you're here, we can finally get to business"

Inwardly, the scientist held her breath, hoping that Tennyson would follow her lead.

The hero eyed her for a second and then promptly agreed, "Yeah, I was sort of getting tired of waiting outside the bar for you"

"Tch, that is no way to talk to a lady", the Turk cheerfully admonished, "Geez, young people these days, no type of rhythm to them"

"That's funny coming from someone who hasn't even introduced himself yet and…

Sensing that the situation is getting out of hand, Crescent interrupts before Ben could give life to the rest of the scathing retort that eagerly wanted to drop from his lips.

"Back to business, are you going to give me the passes or not", Lucrecia demanded sternly.

"Maybe…how much are you willing to pay", he countered.

"20,000 gil", she offered calmly; Callan's eyes lighting up with greed.

The Turk didn't bat an eye, "40,000 gil"

They went back and forth, eventually settling on 30,000 gil.

"Then it's a deal, Ms.…" he fished for her name.

Without hesitation, Lucrecia replied, "Ms. Olivia"

"You can call me Legend", he grinned at her showing off his gleaming white teeth.

Lucrecia stood up from the table hiding the relief she felt, "You will get your payment as soon as I see those passes"

She handed Callan a neatly folded paper, "Here are my specifications, come along Ken", the scientist motioned to Ben.

As Crescent walked away, dread began to pool in her stomach as she thought "This is too easy"

Playing along, Ben followed behind her, saving his questions until they returned to the inn.

As soon as they arrived, Ben began his questions, "What was that all about, for a second you looked completely scared to death.

The scientist took a deep breath, "Ben, Legend is a Turk, the way he moved and acted was a big giveaway. That entire meeting was a blunt attempt at fishing for information."

The teen narrowed his eyes, "Do you think he could recognize you"

"No, I think my fear of Turks is clouding my judgment… it's just that I know the extremes that Turks will go through in order to complete their missions", Lucrecia's eyes narrowed as she thought of Vincent's fellow Turks who carried his body to Hojo's lab without batting an eye.

"We can go to Midgar without the passes", Tennyson suggested.

"That could make Legend suspicious and it is never good for a Turk to sniff in your business"

Ben mused for a second, "How long will the passes take"

"About three days", she replied; wondering what he was thinking

"I can fly us to Midgar tonight, continue the plan, and bring you back to pick up the passes. If the Turks start to investigate us, we can use the passes to set a false trail", he said with a serious expression on his face.

Crescent instantly disagreed, "Someone has to stay here, information travels fast in Costa del Sol and the innkeeper would notice the oddity of two guests staying in their room for three days without coming out for food"

"Then I will go to Midgar by myself", he said; a worried look instantly appearing on Lucrecia's face.

"Do you even know how to get there", she protested.

"Don't worry, I will just fly to the tallest building", he said with a smirk.

"Just in case", Ben fished around in his pocket and then handed her his plumber badge.

"Here, this badge will allow me to locate you no matter where I am", Ben said looking Lucrecia in the eyes.

She nodded and pulled out a well-worn map, "Here is the map to Midgar"

Several hours later…

Ben exited the inn via Ghostfreak and flew out to the beach before changing into Jet Ray for faster flying.

As he soared to Midgar, his face looking towards the black sky ahead; if he had look down he would have notice a flare of light from a match…

"Interesting", Legend muttered; his hand holding a freshly lit cigarette.
