Cody: Hey, everyone! Glad we finally got a new chapter and we'll be honest, it didn't turn out like we planned, but we realized that plan wouldn't work right, so we just free wheeled it. Still think it came out decent, though! Dakota and Crystal wanted to have their own part, so we let them have the ending. Gotta say, we were kinda surprised where they went with it...
Lilly: *giggling* Yeah, quite a surprise! Then again, it could be something worse, I suppose. We're not gonna say anything bad, just let you all enjoy the chapter! Bye, everybody!
Sounds of metal clanking, power tools running and the occasional swear words escaped the garage, meaning only one thing; Cody and Thomas were in working on his Jeep. They'd been in there for a couple hours so far, disassembling the front end to remove the old, broken down engine in order to make room for the diesel Thomas gave him. They were almost done removing parts by now and almost all of the shelves in the garage were full of said parts, surprising them a little by how much there was!
With a final loud clang of the exhaust pipe underneath the Jeep, Cody came out and sighed, saying "Alright, that's all! Nothing else should be in the way other than wiring." Thomas nodded and they went to the engine bay, starting to reach all around the engine and disconnect everything they could reach, which thankfully wasn't a lot. "Gonna keep all this intact?" Thomas asked as he pulled some wiring bundles to the side.
"Depends on what I'll need. Might trim everything I don't need out." Cody said as he did the same on the other side. Within a couple minutes, the only thing still holding the engine in place were the mounts and being bolted to the transmission still. "Ready to pull it out?" Cody asked with a chuckle. Thomas smiled and nodded, saying "Let's do it! Should be simple!" Cody walked over and wheeled an engine lift out of the corner and to the Jeep, positioning it front of the engine.
They bolted some lifting hooks onto the sides of the engine and attached the chains to them before starting to unbolt the mounts and transmission. It only took about fifteen minutes to get those undone. "Alright, here we go! Watch the wiring, okay?" Cody asked and Thomas nodded, so he started jacking the lift up and the engine slowly came off it's mounts and into the air. A few more pumps later on the lift and it was soon clear of the vehicle, so they rolled the lift backwards and the engine came out without any issue.
"Wow, look at all this grease and oil! Looks like the seal back here was leaking." Thomas said, running his finger over the backside of the engine. Cody chuckled and said "No wonder they ran it dry….How about later sometime we open it up and look at the damage?" Thomas laughed and said "Yeah, definitely! What do we do now that we've got it out?" Cody looked at the engine bay and smiled, saying "Clean it….This thing is filthy from all the shit."
"And how do you propose we do that?" Thomas asked, leaning against the front fender. Cody motioned the the corner of the garage and said "I've got a pressure washer, just need to roll it outside. Think some good dish soap'll work on all this?" Thomas chuckled again and said "Maybe if you use the entire bottle…."
"Hey, we've got plenty. Come on, let's park it in the driveway." Cody said, going around the side and sitting in the driver seat. They pushed it backward out of the garage and into the driveway and he set the parking brake so it wouldn't roll since the driveway's sloped. Right about then, his parents pulled up and parked in front of the yard, getting out and walking up to see what was going on.
"Hey, son. Finally getting something done on this thing?" His Dad asked with a chuckle. They nodded and Cody said "Finally got the engine out. Easier than we expected! Oh, this is Thomas, guys. He's a real good friend and he's the one that gave me that diesel." Thomas smiled and shook hands with them, saying "It was just laying in a shed….Couldn't figure out anything to do with it." His Mom smiled and said "Well, it was very nice of you to just give it to him!"
"So, how come it's outside now? Washing it down?" His Dad asked as they walked around the front of it. "Yep, gotta get all this old grease and crap off. You guys wanna come in?" They nodded, so they all went inside the house. Eve and Kevin were asleep on the floor, Naomi and Todd asleep at one end of the couch with their pups and Lilly asleep at the other end with Serenity, who was awake. Cody quietly closed the door and said "Looks like they're all asleep except Serenity…." She looked over at him and held her paw out, making whimpering sounds as she did.
"Sounds like she wants her Daddy…." His Mom giggled, nudging his arm. He chuckled and went over to her, gently picking her up and she snuggled against his chest. "How come you're awake, baby girl? At least you didn't wake Momma up…." He said, going into the kitchen with her where his Mom went. "You guys want anything to drink?" He asked, getting a few glasses from the cupboard.
"That sounds great after working on that thing for so long." Thomas chuckled, leaning against a chair in the living room. Cody filled the glasses with water and handed them out, still holding Serenity as he did before sitting on the couch beside Lilly. Serenity saw her there and decided she wanted back down, so he set her down beside Lilly's stomach, which caused her to stir awake.
Her eyes slowly opened and she yawned before lifting her head, looking around to see them all there. She smiled and sleepily said "Hey, everyone….God, how long was I asleep?" Cody chuckled and rubbed her back, saying "Only a couple hours. Sleep good?" She nodded and yawned again, saying "Yeah, pretty well. Still out working on your Jeep?" He nodded and said "Just taking a short break."
"Okay. What time is it?" She asked, stretching out. He looked up at the clock and said "It's only just after two. Feeling hungry at all? I know you didn't have lunch." She smiled again and said "No, I'm still okay." Right about then, Serenity began nursing, causing Lilly to softly purr. "Seems someone else is, though…." She giggled, nuzzling their daughter. Cody chuckled and looked up at Thomas, asking "After we get it washed down, how about we use the lift and see how the new engine fits? At least get an idea on what needs done."
"That's what I was thinking, actually. Almost looked like when we measured it before that you might be able to use the original motor mounts." Thomas said. Cody nodded and said "I hope so. I'd rather not have to make some." They all heard a door down the hall open and close, followed by Lyla coming out into the living room with a smile on her face. Thomas smiled too and said "Well, hello, you beautiful girl…." She giggled and said "Hey, you! Whatcha doin'?" He shrugged and said "We're just taking a short break. You?" She shrugged as well and said "Heard you all out here, so I figured I'd say hi. Nice to see you guys again!" Cody's parents smiled and his Mom said "You too, honey! Taking a nap down there?" She nodded and said "Yeah, a little bit of one."
"Ready to get back to work?" Cody asked Thomas, who nodded and said "Yeah, let's get back on it." Lilly smiled and said "Well, just don't hurt yourselves….Oh, and don't forget Donna's coming up this evening." Cody smiled and said "I know, don't worry. We'll be done in an hour or two." She nodded and then he and Thomas headed back out to the garage, along with his Dad.
"So, how's the rest of the car look? Seem pretty solid?" His Dad asked. Cody nodded and said "Seems so. Haven't found anything that looks bad." He pulled the pressure washer outside and hooked the hose up to it, starting it up before emptying a bottle of dish soap into the soap tank. "This should help cut through some of the built up crap on there." Cody said, starting to spray down the engine bay with the high pressure water.
Clumps of dirt, oil and grease fell off, slowly revealing more and more of the body underneath. He kept at it for about ten minutes until no more would come off, finally shutting off the pressure washer and laying the hose down. The three of them looked closer at the sheet metal for any signs of rust, but were surprised not to see anything!
"Yeah, looks pretty good for all the crud that was on there! Still has the original paint, so that's good. Not flaky, either..." His Dad said, feeling the metal. Thomas nodded and then Cody said "Well, let's get the old engine off the lift and hang the new one in here. I think after we do that, take some pictures and measure a few things, we'll be done for the day."
Meanwhile back inside, Lilly had gone down to she and Cody's bedroom to rest a little longer since the bed was more comfortable. His Mom offered to take care of Serenity while she get some rest, which she happily accepted. She could hear her little playful laughs and cries from the living room, making her smile as she lay on the bed. The door was partly closed so she could still hear her, just in case, but she knew she was fine.
She was starting to doze off when the door opened slightly more and Lyla stuck her head in, asking "Lilly, are you asleep?" She opened her eyes and smiled at her, saying "No, just resting. Everything okay?" Lyla nodded and glanced around before asking "Would it be okay if I came in?" Lilly giggled a bit and said "Of course. Come on." Lyla smiled and stepped in the room, pushing the door back to where it was.
"Something on your mind?" Lilly asked, turning onto her stomach. Lyla shrugged and said "I suppose so….I just didn't know who to ask. I feel like either yours or Cody's Mom would be able to help more, but I figured I'd ask you first." Lilly slowly nodded and said "Well, come on up here." Lyla smiled again and jumped up onto the bed, laying down beside Lilly. "So, what's wrong?" Lilly asked.
"Well, I wouldn't say it's something wrong….I just wanna know what it was like being pregnant? I never have been before and to be honest, I'm pretty scared! Even more so since it was Tommy that made me pregnant…." Lyla said, visibly shaking a little.
Lilly shifted closer and put her paw on her shoulder, saying "There's nothing to be scared about, honest. I'll admit, I was too when I was first pregnant….But, looking back, there wasn't anything to be scared about. When I was pregnant with Serenity, there were some times that made me worry, but nothing ever happened. The only thing that actually SCARED me was when Donna told me I needed a C-Section when I went into labor."
Lyla looked more worried and asked "What happened with that?" Lilly smiled and said "Cody took me to a bigger hospital type place, they gave me some kind of gas to make me fall asleep and when I woke up, I was laying on the couch next to Cody. His Mom brought Serenity over and that was the first time I saw her. Believe me, there was a state of shock at first…."
Lyla giggled and said "Yeah, I can imagine….Did it hurt at any time?" Lilly nodded and said "The worst was when I went into labor with Serenity, but it was over fairly quick. Other than that, not horribly…." Lyla nodded and said "Okay. Can I ask you one more thing?' Lilly nodded and Lyla looked down at her paws, softly asking "Do you think we'll be good parents?"
Lilly smiled at her and nodded, saying "Yes, I think you'll both be great parents! There's going to be times you'll both second guess yourselves, but just trust me. You will be." Lyla smiled again and her tail started wagging as she said "Thank you, Lilly! I really believe Tommy will be a GREAT father!" Lilly giggled and said "I'm sure he will be, too. Do you guys live with his parents?"
Lyla nodded and then Lilly said "Okay, then you'll be able to ask them at anytime if you need to know something, I'm sure. We did a couple times with Dakota and Lupa when they were just pups." Right then, they both heard a loud crash followed by Thomas scream something. Lyla's eyes went wide and she said "Oh, shit….That didn't sound good!" They both jumped up off the bed and ran out to the garage, both of them worried, but more so Lyla.
They ran outside and into the garage to see Cody and his Dad moving the diesel engine off Thomas's foot, making Lyla gasp. "Tommy! What happened!?" Lyla screamed, running in to him. He quickly took off his shoe and sock, occasionally cursing as he did. When he got them off, they all saw a big purple spot on the top of his foot, causing Lyla to gasp again. "OH MY GOD! Are you alright!?" She asked, nearly on the verge of crying.
"Yeah, I'm okay….It's not broken…." He said, moving his toes and ankle. Cody's Dad kneeled down to look at it and said "Just bruised pretty good. Told you to keep your feet out from under it…." Thomas chuckled and said "Yeah….I was trying to get it straight….." He chuckled as well and then Cody said "How about you sit down for a little while? We can take care of the rest of this." Thomas nodded and sat down on a tire next to the wall with Lyla right beside him. "What happened, babe?" She asked, a worried look on her face.
"We were lifting the new engine up to see how it would fit when one of the chain links broke. Should've known it would….It was all rusty and corroded….That, and I was trying to push the lift to the side to get it all straight. Link snapped and the engine dropped onto my foot. Wasn't that bad since it was only a few inches in the air." Thomas said, rubbing his foot. Lyla sighed and shook her head, nuzzling his arm and said "Lilly said don't hurt yourself….And you went and did it….You're such a dummy!"
A couple hours later, they finished up for the evening after getting everything they needed to find out. Surprisingly, it didn't seem like it would take a lot to get the new engine in! Probably the biggest thing to worry about would be the fuel system, but even that wouldn't be hard to figure out. After putting all the tools away and closing up the garage, Thomas and Lyla had left. He needed to ice his foot and she was getting hungry, so they decided to take off.
Speaking of getting hungry, Cody was getting dinner ready since it was getting close to dinner. Donna sent him a message and said she'd be up within an hour, so he made a little extra for when she got here. Despite being hungry, Alexis was saying she wasn't feeling too good and didn't want to eat. She was down in her and Chase's room in the bed, feeling like she'd throw up at any moment and her stomach wouldn't stop twisting.
Crystal was a little concerned by how she just all the sudden seemed to get sick, but knew she wasn't pregnant. She was out of her heat cycle already, so it would be impossible for that to happen. After talking to her a little while, Crystal figured it was something she ate for lunch not agreeing with her. Alexis told her she ate the same thing everyone else did, only she did have part of a banana that Cody gave to her.
"Looks like you can't eat that….Doesn't like you." Crystal said, nuzzling her daughter. Alexis couldn't help but smile even though her stomach was killing her and said "Yeah, yeah….I just want it to go away…." Crystal smiled a little as well and said "It will, I promise. You just rest….Try and sleep a little." Alexis nodded and Crystal kissed her forehead before getting up and going back out to the living room, pulling the door almost closed as she went out.
"Seems like she ate something she can't. Probably the banana for lunch." Crystal said as she walked into the living room where everyone else was. Cody weakly smiled and said "Sorry about that….Didn't know…." Crystal smiled at him and said "It's alright, don't worry. It'll pass." He nodded and then she looked around the room, asking "Hey, where'd Dakota go?" Lilly motioned down the hall and said "To you guys' room."
"Ah, okay. Well, guess I'll go join him." She giggled, going back down the hall to their room. The door was pushed closed, so the opened it and walked in, stopping in her tracks when she was Dakota. He was laying in their bed on his back, his eyes closed and his paw rubbing his wolfhood, making her blush profusely.
"Um, Dakota, babe? Whatcha doin'?" She asked with a giggle, closing the door again. He turned to look at her and smiled, saying "I was just thinking about things….And my mind started to wander." She giggled more and nodded, saying "I can see that! Looks like you're enjoying yourself….Want a little privacy there?"
"Actually, I'd really like if you stayed…." He said, moving over a little in the bed. She smiled and let out an amused sigh, walking over to the bed and laying down beside him. He kissed her cheek as she did and she asked "So, why'd you want me to stay? Need my help with something?" He chuckled and said "No, I've got this handled….I'll be honest, it just feels better when you're here."
She giggled again and said "Ah, okay….Well, you just enjoy yourself, then." He nodded and she turned onto her side, cuddling against his and laying her head down beside his. He nuzzled her as he continued and she was watching, a smile on her face the entire time. "Does it feel good?" She whispered and he nodded, saying "Yeah, it does….Not as good as you do it, though…." She giggled and licked his neck, causing him to groan a little.
Over the course of the next ten minutes or so, he was slowly starting to pant harder and harder, a detail that was not lost on Crystal. She knew he was getting close and got an idea, turning onto her back as well. He noticed and asked "What're you doing, baby? Need some more room?" She smiled and shook her head, saying "Nope….Giving you a target…."
He curiously smiled at her, asking "What do you mean?" She giggled and put her paw on his, stopping him and saying "Stand over me, babe…." He immediately knew what she meant and wanted, so he happily obliged, getting up and standing over her. She leaned up and licked his neck again, saying "Now keep going….And don't miss…."
