Draco's POV
Waking up was hard. Draco rolled over and promptly fell on the floor. As he hit the carpet, he came to the realisation that he hadn't been in a bed. He had been on a couch. Not in his apartment, not in his lovely four poster bed at the manor, on a couch. And looking around, Blaises' couch of all places. Groaning Draco got to his feet and headed towards the bedroom. Face-planting on the unmade bed, Draco took a deep breath. A soft, feminine fragrance drifted off the sheets and suddenly Draco remembered. His stupid wager with Granger. What had possessed him to do such a thing, especially when he had wanted to kiss her senseless when he was sober, not to mention how alluring she got the more they both had gotten drunk. He didn't even remember passing out. Merlin, what was his life coming too? He just needed to get laid, then maybe he could stop fantasizing about the Gryffindor bookworm and get on with his life. The front door slammed and Draco listened to the footsteps heading towards him.
"Draco you gotta get up. Your mum expects us to spend some time with the kids today."
"Yes Blaise. In the meantime, find me a woman that satisfies my needs, agrees with my mother's expectations of a perfect wife and doesn't complain and attempt to spend all my money." Draco drawled from the pillows. Masculine chuckles vibrated through the air.
"Sorry mate, I know only one and she's currently working off a hangover and still married." Blaise ducked as a thick pillow was thrown his way.
"Not Granger, you idiot! Anyone but her."
"Well, your shit out of luck then. C'mon get up and get dressed. We have to be at saint Hectors in half an hour." Blaise said as he left the room. Draco sighed. Looks like his day was planned whether he liked it or not.
"I don't know why you even bothered getting dressed Draco, you look as if you just rolled out of bed." Astoria laughed as Draco flopped on the couch as soon as he walked in the door of the orphanage. Draco shot her a glare.
"I look fabulous at any time of the day, Astoria Greengrass, and don't you know it." Feminine laughter floated through the air as Astoria left the room for refreshments and Blaise rolled his eyes.
"You know mate, you do look like shit."
"Blaise, I'm not in the mood."
"Not in the mood for what Draco?" Blaise asked innocently. Growling Draco flipped Blaise the finger and turned to face the back of the couch for some more sleep. Shaking his head, Blaise stood and headed for the kitchen where Astoria was.
"Do you ever think that Draco will settle down, Astoria?"
The question floated on the air and made Blaise pause.
"Look Cissa, I don't know. He and I weren't suited and he likes having fun too much." Astoria answered. There was a long pause before Narcissa spoke again.
"What if it was for Hermione Granger? Do you think he would?"
With these words, Blaise strut into the kitchen and answered.
"Yes. And you're both lucky he is asleep on the couch and didn't hear this conversation." The two ladies jumped and grinned.
"Good. I plan on making him settle down. They are suited together, no offense Astoria, and I want grandchildren of my own. As much as I love all my little cherubs here, I want some of my own flesh and blood." Narcissa stated calmly. Astoria nodded,
"He needs a wakeup call and I believe Hermione may just be what he needs Cissa." The young witch held a trace of doubt in her eyes. "Though getting him to see that will be hard." Blaise smirked.
"Not as hard as what you might think 'Stori. The way he was leaning towards her last night, drowning their sorrows, the fool is possibly already into her and just doesn't want to accept it yet." Narcissa clapped her hands in glee.
"Perfect."
Something was snuggling into his side. Or rather someone. Draco opened his eyes a fraction and saw the dirty blond hair of Andrew snuggled into his chest as he lay on the couch. Closing his eyes once more he reached for his wand and enlarged the couch a little to make more room for the boy.
"Can I sleep here with you Uncle Draco? I don't want to play outside any more. I'm sleepy." The words were mumbled and slurred and Draco grinned softly.
"Yes Andrew you can, now shhh." Wrapping an arm around him, Draco drifted back to sleep. Dreaming of pale and curly haired children.
"Do you think we should wake them? 'Stori wanted them to have lunch."
"We have to. We should wake Andrew first though then get Dray back for all the times he gets us up with cold water."
The hushed conversation reached his ears and a growl slid from Draco's lips.
"Ivy if you even think about trying to "get me back" I will put worms in your bed next time you don't get up straight away."
"Shit! He's awake." Opening one eye Draco glared at the twins.
"Indigo, if you don't want to listen to your sister complaining about worms then you better take her back to the kitchen for lunch. Tell Astoria I will be there in a minute." The two girls scampered out the door and Draco grinned. At least he knew with the girls he still held the power. Older women however proved to be his downfall. Especially when they were petite, had porcelain skin that blushed delicately and could apparently take stupid bets that got him drunk. Damn it. Granger had gotten under his skin. Merlin, he hoped he could just wine and dine her and be done with her. Because women like her were trouble. They wanted more of him than he was willing to give.
Shaking his head, he nudged Andrew awake and led the young boy out to the dining room where everyone was waiting to start eating. The twins were looking sheepishly at him and he aimed a frown at them.
"Draco darling, were you really going to put worms in Ivy's bed if she woke you up?" Narcissa asked with a smirk as she sipped her wine. Glaring, Draco answered.
"Only if she woke me up by pouring cold water on me." Laughter erupted from the other end of the table from Blaise.
"Girls, you really didn't think that one through. Draco would have probably accidently hexed you on purpose and you would have green hair or warts on your faces." At his words, the twins shrunk into their seats a little as everyone else laughed.
"Right, everyone can help themselves to sandwiches. There's plenty for everyone so no niggling over the food." Astoria called.
Draco looked around the table and was comforted by the love that was shown here. This was his family.
READ AND REVIEW PLEASE
Hey guys!
I am so sorry it is taking me so long to get this out.
I'm currently doing my final year of schooling before uni and its eating at my time majorly.
I do try to find time but lately when I try to sit down and bust some out, I sit and I have nowhere to go with it.
I did enjoy writing this chapter, especially the part with the orphans but like I said it took me a long time to get here.
I may put this on hiatus for the time being just to try and get back on my feet a little.
Tah for now, Tay x
