I do not own the Percy Jackson or Kane Chronicles series.
Chapter 20:
Annabeth's POV:
I've been practicing the magic I was taught back at Brooklyn house for about half an hour now (all my siblings went to train) and I'm really not too bad at it. The simple stuff anyway. I started to summon penguins, just like Felix taught me. Felix. I missed the little guy so much.
I had summoned about a dozen penguins before I realized that someone was in my room. I whipped around to find Percy, opened mouthed and staring. I didn't know what to do, so I just sat there, and waited for him to say something.
Finally, he closed his mouth and went over to sit beside me, petting a few penguins along the way.
"I didn't know children of Athena can do magic." It was more of a question. I took a deep breath. "They cant." I said quietly. "Yeah," he said. "that's what I thought too." He took my hand in his and squeezed it tight. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, but I'm here if you do."
And so I confessed. Everything.
When I was done, he pulled me into a hug. "I love you Annabeth," he whispered into my ear. "I love you too, Percy Jackson," I replied. "Thank you for telling me," he said. "Don't you ever be afraid to tell me something because you're afraid I'll hate you or something. Because I will always love you."
At about noon, a loud bell rang. Leo's voice came roaring throughout the ship. "Demigods, we'll be landing shortly! Brace yourselves, and please be nice to our friends so they don't kill us!"
"That's my cue," I muttered to no one in particular. Percy had left about half an hour ago and I had been meditating to keep my pulse steady. I took a deep breath and got up from my bed. I changed into a clean camp half-blood t-shirt, a fresh pair of black jeans, combat boots, and my newly polished armor.
I looked myself over in the mirror. I stood up straighter, raised my chin, and clenched my jaw. Good. Now I look like someone worthy of leading an army.
I felt the ship land, and went to meet Chiron at the deck.
It was an island. But it wasn't the regular palm trees and resorts and sand. It wasn't like forest or prairie land or desert either. It was like a city. There were multiple buildings, stores and-training equipment?- strewn all over the island. There was a big clearing in the middle, obviously meant as our meeting place.
The Romans were already there. Not all of them looked happy to see us. In fact, most of them didn't. After everything with Gaia, both camps had decided that it would be best if we both kept our distances. Though we did keep in touch with Hazel and Frank.
They were lined up very nicely, all in armor, with the two praetors- (SPOILER if you haven't read HOH yet!)
Reyna and Frank- in the front.
We piled out. Some of the demigods who had been riding alongside the ship on pegasi, lined up on either side of the ship. Chiron and I headed across the clearing to greet our old allies.
I shook hands with Reyna, and hugged Frank. The Romans behind them seemed to stiffen at our closeness.
Octavian was glaring at me from the back row, and honestly after all I faced in tartarus, he was about as intimidating as a Chihuahua.
I spotted Hazel on the far end, and decided to embrace her later.
Chiron and I returned to our group, and Percy took my hand and gave it a squeeze. I gave him a smile.
Just then, a portal opened at the other end of the clearing.
I took a deep breath and braced myself for the arrival of the Egyptians.
Sadie's POV:
I stepped through the portal and was transported to a strange island city thing. {Great vocabulary Sadie. "strange island city thing" come on!}
I wasn't really paying much attention to the land though, because there were two groups of scary looking warriors, not even a good dozen meters from us.
At first, I saw the the organized assembly of people in purple clothes and armor. The Romans.
They were pretty intimidating if you ask me. Especially the lady in the front line. She reminds me of an evil queen.
Then I saw the Greeks. A cluster of orange clothes and armor. My eyes automatically zoomed in on a small girl who was actually one of my friends. Lacy. Beside her was someone who was actually not one of my friends. Drew Tanaka.
Lacy had spotted me and at first, looked confused, but after a moment, gave a smile. It wasn't her usual preppy, full of life smile, but a small tired one.
Drew had spotted me as well, but did not smile. Nor did she frown. She was simply emotionless.
Then at the front line, I saw her.
Annabeth Chase.
Ahhhh cliffhanger! XD Sorry guys.
