The next morning, Morgan woke up at the crack of dawn. Noah was still asleep, but she didn't care. After all, when had she ever needed him for anything? It's not like she could rely on hi anyway. He was always working!
She sighed, walking over to the window, staring out at the dark sky. She felt her daiky urge to explore. She glanced down towards were her parents room was. "I can be back before daddy wakes up!" She reasoned.
After all, if she wasn't going to be caught, what's the harm?
Morgan slipped a coat on and slipped out the door. It was fairly windy outside, so she decided it best if she pulled her hood up.
She ran around the back of the house, towards her adventure-trail. Mommy and daddy didn't know that it even existed. She intended to keep it that way.
Morgan started through the woods, getting through them easily due to her small form. She knew exactly where she was going; she'd been there so many times in her life. She'd first found it when she was two years old.
Back then, she had a tendency to wonder places she shouldn't have been. It had been one of those times. She had stumbled in on the cave.
She remembered thinking that it'd be cool, if there was a bear in the cave. After all, she was her mother's child. She'd been told that hundreds of times in her life. Everybody said it, whether was uncle Owen, or Auntie Gwen. And it wasn't just adults it was kids, too.
Though, she could tell that they didn't mean in a good way. But what was wrong with being like mama she had wondered. She remembered them calling her mother crazy, that she should be locked up. And her father along with her for marrying her and making a child.
But why? Weren't they as innocent as any of their parents?
Morgan had been so deep in thought that she hadn't realized that she had reached the cave. She went inside, running towards the back. The back of the cave was her favorite place- she'd marked it with the knife Duncan had given her. Unfortunately, Duncan was in jail- again. Something about serial arson, whatever that was.
She suddenly halted. There- not three feet away from her- was the bear. Its cold eyes immobilized her with fear. She'd always wished to see one in person, but now that she was mere feet away from one, she decided to reconsider.
The bear roared fiercely. Morgan felt hysterical. There were now to questions. Whether to laugh insanely, and die, or stand and fight.
She didn't get a chance to decided. Her ears were suddenly filled with the sound of wood being banged off something. Was that... rock?
She turned around in time to see her father throw a stick at the bear. It missed by a mere inch, but the sound of it clanging of the rock scared it, "Get down" he hissed at her.
She crouched.
The bear roared at him.
"Morgan, you're gonna do exactly what I say. Got it?"
She nodded, unable to say anything just yet.
"I want you to get up and walk backwards. Slowly. Don't run."
She finally found her voice. "What about you?!"
He shook his head. "Don't worry about me. Now go!"
Morgan moved back as he said. She barely heard the loud music playing from within the cave.
Noah watched as Morgan left, then pulled his cellphone from his pocket, blasted it on full volume, played the first song on his playlist. He threw the phone at the bear's feet, then backed up as the bear freaked out over the loud noise.
The bear ran passed him, desperate to get away from it, not even caring about Noah or Morgan anymore.
Noah scoop up his cellphone, turned it off, and ran after his child.
"Daddy, that was amazing! How'd you do that?!"
Noah looked at the four year old girl, a faraway look in his eyes, "Your mom, actually. She was quite the bear - whisperer when she was sixteen. Did she tell you about the time when she dressed up like a bear, and scared everyone up a tree-?- which you should never do; bears can climb. But she actually ended up attracting a real bear."
There was a smile in his words. And it wasn't hard for Morgan to pick up. "When did you a mommy fall in love?"
She watched as her daddy smiled at the memory. "I knew her from Total drama, but I think I really fell in love with her when we turned eighteen."
"What happened?"
"What time will do to friendship," he said quickly. "Now, back to the matter at hand. Why were you in that cave?" Morgan heard a strange emotion in his tone. Was that... nostalgia?
Great, time to 'fess up! "I found it two years ago," she admitted, quietly.
Noah frowned. "Your mother loved that cave. You were little, and wouldn't remember this, but your mother bought a zoo, when you were three months old."
"Why?"
Noah smiled again. "Because she wanted to free all the animals. You and I both know that, what your mother wants, your mother gets. Anyway, that's where she released the bear, after teaching it how to survive on its own. Did you know that your mother claims to know 'bear - talk as a third language, right after English and Japanese'?"
Morgan giggled, nodding. "I know! What's with that?!"
They talked all the way back home.
