Hey, look what I finally got around to doing! Enjoy~
"You realize how much bullshit this is, right?" Jeff asked, raising a brow at Slender, who merely growled in irritation. "I can't carry two knives in my pocket! I'll cut myself trying to pull them out. Aren't you supposed to be the smart one or something?" Slender's growling got louder and the boy let out a huff. "Just saying."
"If you're done whining," Slender hissed at him, throwing something at the boy. Jeff stumbled to catch it but once he had it in his arms he looked down to see a belt with two sheaths for knives on it. Neither spoke as Jeff put it on silently, threading the sheaths through on either hip. He took the knives out of his sweatshirt pocket carefully and sheathed them, hiding them beneath his sweatshirt. "What was that you were saying about me being the smart one?" Jeff glared at him, crossing his arms.
"Oh shut up," Jeff grumbled. Slender merely chuckled and turned to walk away, the boy following silently behind him through the forest. It had been this way for almost a week now. Unless Slender said otherwise, Jeff was to follow him everywhere and do whatever he was told, not matter how ridiculous. And it got pretty weird sometimes. Yesterday he had spent over three hours trying to climb up a tree without making a sound. Every time he did, Slender made him come back down and start again. It was irritating, but by the end he was able to climb up the tree silently.
A few days before that Slender had brought Jeff to an abandoned warehouse, where he had broken every single window beforehand and spread the glass all over the floor, with mere patches here and there where you could see the floor. He then told Jeff to navigate it without too much noise and get to the other side. He had flinched every time he had stepped on glass and it had cracked, even a little. Most times Slender let it slide, but if it was really bad he would scold Jeff and made him start back over again. Cracking glass was now one of Jeff's least favorite sounds. The purpose of al this, he wasn't sure. But he had promised not to question, so he hadn't.
What crazy task would Slender have Jeff do today?
Jeff grunted as he rammed into Slender's back, getting an irritated growl in response. Jeff took a step back and looked up at Slender, who was holding a finger to where his lips would be if he had any. He pointed in a direction and Jeff leaned to his left to get a good look, raising a brow curiously. There he saw a girl walking along the path, hands in her jean pockets as she kicked a rock along the path.
"Let's see how you do," Slender hissed lightly. Jeff nodded and walked towards her, focusing on the lightness of his feet, the crunching of the first leaves of fall crunching under his feet like glass. As he heard it he made himself step slower, lighter, as he made his way over towards the girl. He resisted the urge to place his hands on his knives, Slender had told him not to take a threatening stance unless it was necessary, they tended to sense that really fast.
The girl hadn't reacted to his presence and Slender hadn't caused him to lose his prey yet, which he usually did when Jeff was doing a terrible job, so that was a good sign. He stopped himself from taking pride and moving faster, he didn't need to doom himself because he was excited. His feet hit the dirt path and the sound of grovel under his shoes was added to the sound of leaves. He was so close and he just wanted to spring her, his hand moving towards his knife.
Don't attack because you can't hold back, attack only when you can smell the moment. Slender's words caused Jeff to simply wiggle his fingers in the air above his sheaths. He took a quiet, deep breath and started forward again. The girl's pace was slow so that made his job of catching up a little easier, but he could sense her getting tenser. Humans can sense danger. You have a very small window of attack, once they start tensing, the smaller that window is.
He picked his pace up slightly, glancing down at his feet to make sure there weren't any branches in his way as he approached. Closer, closer, so close he could smell the type of shampoo she had used this morning. She stopped walking, her shoulders up near her neck. Window closed. Jeff yanked his left knife out of its sheath and he wrapped an arm around her torso and chest, causing a sharp scream to escape before he thrust his knife through her throat to silence her. He held here there a moment until he heard her breathe her final breath, then let her fall to the ground. He went to sheath his knife but felt a tentacle on it.
"You always clean your weapons after a kill," Slender told him, then removed his tentacle. Jeff looked at his knife a moment before wiping it off on the girl's hoodie. "Killing is an art, we respect our weapons and our prey." Jeff looked at Slender like his was crazy, holding a now cleaned knife in his hand. "Like so." Slender reached down and closed the girl's terror filled eyes.
"Don't you eat yours?" Jeff asked with a raised brow. Slender growled in an irritated manner, probably would have rolled his eyes if he had any, and turned towards Jeff.
"I'm different. You will follow the more...traditional, rule set." Jeff huffed in irritation. Slender growled but said nothing. "We're done for today." Without another word the beast disappeared from sight, Jeff glaring at where he had once been standing. With a huff Jeff sheathed his knife on his left hip and walked down the path. Wondering why he had even wanted to learn how to kill in the first place. He had been doing just fine on his own. Jeff rolled his eyes at himself.
"Yeah, sure you were," he mumbled to himself. He sucked and he had admitted it on a regular basis. Besides, he had improved in the last week. He learned how to move silently, not breathe as loud. But he was still slow. Jeff huffed in irritation and looked at his feet, noting that he had been quietly stepping the entire time. Perhaps it was becoming a normal habit. Good, he needed it to be. Jeff sighed. This was all so fucking stupid.
Crack
Jeff whirled around, knives out, when he heard the sound behind him. There was nothing there, but he still felt uneasy. Just like the girl did when he had been sneaking up on her. The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end and Jeff whirled around again, slashing at nothing but air. No, something had been there, he knew it had! Jeff growled and felt something brush up against the back of his shoulder, causing him to whirl around again, but there was still nothing.
"Show yourself you cur!" he shouted. Jeff resisted the urge to facepalm, he was starting to sound like Slender. There was no response and Jeff took a half step back, freezing in place as a hand rested on his shoulder, making him go completely still and very cold. He shivered at the feeling and broke from their grasp, turning around to face them with knives at the ready. His grip loosened, he felt his knees shake. "No. Liu?" The blonde before him sneered with a growl, the thin marks on his cheeks looking horrendous in the light of the sunset.
"You," he breathed out angrily, taking a threatening step towards Jeff, who stepped back in turn with him. "You did this!" He threw a knife, getting Jeff in the shoulder and causing him to drop the knife in his right hand, letting out a gasp of pain. "You killed our parents! You almost killed me!" Another knife, this one to the stomach. Jeff felt his knees buckle and he fell to the ground, looking up at Liu in fear.
"I-I didn't mean to-"
"Didn't mean to what, exactly? Loose your sanity? Kill our parents in cold blood? Leave me alone to die? Go on a murderous rampage? Didn't mean to do what, Jeff?!" Liu grabbed Jeff by the front of his sweatshirt, shaking him with a furious look in his eyes that made Jeff feel like his soul was burning. "You left me to die you fucking son of a bitch!" Liu threw Jeff at a tree, knocking the wind out of him and leaving him to gasp for air. "I don't even care that you killed our parents, Jeff, they had it coming. But why would you just leave me there?!"
"L-Liu, I'm sorry. I-I wasn't thinking, I didn't mean to-"
"Stop saying that!" Jeff let out a gasp of surprise and pain as a third knife hit him in the chest, right between his lungs. He looked up at Liu, who's green eyes were filled with tears and anger, and lots of pain. "I hate you, you sick bastard." He removed his hands from the knife and stood up, turning and walking away, leaving Jeff leaning against the tree weakly. Jeff reached a hand out towards Liu, trying to stop him but his fogged up brain not seeing how far away he was.
"I'm, sorry," he breathed out. Liu didn't stop, but his pace slowed. "Liu...please." His brother stopped a ways off and looked at him, but said nothing as he turned back around and walked away. Jeff fell onto his side and watched his brother go into the forest, the three knives digging into his skin painfully. So, this is what death felt like. It was warmer than he expected. No, wait, that was someone picking him up. Wait, what? Jeff turned his head to see who it was, but all he saw was white and then everything faded away.
And that's a wrap!
