The rest of the night the two women laid in each other's arms, and fell asleep wrapped up with their love binding them together. Callie couldn't help the smile that was stuck on her face all night long. That had to have been the best night they had in quite a long time. They were leaving in the morning to get their daughter, how could she not be happy? Except there was this lingering odd feeling dancing in the pit of her stomach. Arizona accepted the fact that they had a daughter extremely well, and even remembered her name, which definitely didn't go unnoticed. The only thing that bothered her was that Arizona had said that she only thinks she loved Callie. She knew it would take time for the blonde to fully let herself be with Callie again, but couldn't shake the feeling that there might be a possibility that she wouldn't and would just turn and run away in the opposite direction. It scared her, because she was just getting her wife back and couldn't bare the thought of losing Arizona completely. Pushing the thought aside, she tightened her embrace around a slim frame and fell asleep with love pouring out of her.
Arizona laid awake awhile longer than Callie did. She could tell Callie was excited about her new memory and that she could finally bring their daughter home, but to be honest with herself she was nervous. Feeling Callie bring her closer into her body, she figured Callie was ready to finally let her mind be at peace. Arizona's though, kept reeling with bad outcomes. What if when she saw Sofia there was nothing there? What if Sofia hated her for letting her live somewhere else? What if Callie didn't like what she saw and made Sofia stay in Miami longer? It was tearing the blonde in half thinking about all this, not really letting herself think about the good possibilities that could happen. Her heart was pounding having Callie this close to her, even though this is how they usually ended up in the morning anyways. Never once did they start out like this since she came home. It was a big step in their recovery, and she liked it. No, she loved it. She told Callie that she thought she loved her, and that was a huge mistake because she knew with every ounce of her being that she was in love with one Calliope Torres. Calliope. She wondered why no one else called her that, it was such a beautiful name and liked how it rolled off her tongue. Then it hit her, she was in love with Callie, but she didn't really know her. At all. The Latina knew everything about her, but the only things that Arizona knew about Callie was how much she was willing to sacrifice for the blonde, and how she liked her coffee in the mornings. She learned that the hard way.
They were going to get THEIR daughter tomorrow, she thought. Sofia was hers. She had a daughter all this time, while she only thought about herself and the life she thought she had. It hit her hard when she began to picture the little girl getting told by Callie that she couldn't see her mommy anymore. Mommy? Mom? Mama? What did Sofia call her? Did she have a close relationship with her daughter? Obviously Callie was the one who had her, because I mean come on look at the kid. A single tear rolled down the edge of her nose while all these questions burned into her brain. She didn't feel like unlocking her fingers from Callie's to wipe away the tear, so she let it soak into the pillow they were sharing. She felt safe with Callie, and that's a feeling she hadn't felt in a long time. Her dreams were getting better, practically gone because of this woman. Nobody ever made her feel this way, ever. Not even her husband who she thought was the one. The blonde closed her eyes and mentally kicked herself. 'He's not real.' She kept repeating. But she couldn't help it that was what she remembered. That was her life, not the one Callie had told her about during their fight. Suddenly she wanted that comfort back, the one she felt while she was with her husband and in the life she knew was hers. This one, well, it just confused her more than she already was. She bent her knees and arched her back a little, following right behind her Callie molded her legs into Arizona's and nuzzled her face into blonde waves. Arizona let a quiet moan slip out, gripping Callie's hand harder than she already was. Her eyes became heavy, and slowly her mind began shutting down. Finally letting the sleep that was much needed take over her.
Callie woke up to an empty bed, and steam rolling out from under the bathroom door. She rolled over and saw that the clock read 5:07. Groaning as she lifted her tired body off the bed, she smoothed her wild hair down and made her way into the bathroom. Callie chuckled when Arizona, who was oblivious to her walking in, danced and sang quietly into a bar of soap. It had to have been the cutest thing she has ever seen her wife do. If she got to experience this side of Arizona every morning, she would gladly wake up this early every day. The blonde turned around, dropped the soap and flew to the corner of the shower covering her body.
A bright red blush spreading like wild fire across her cheeks, "Callie! God you scared the crap out of me!"
Callie flashed her perfectly white teeth and turned around acting like she didn't see anything. Even though all she really wanted to do was get in the shower with the sexy blonde and make her scream Callie's name. Holding her hands in the air, "I'm sorry, I should've knocked."
Arizona relaxed a bit, "You think?" she said in a mock tone.
"Old habits I guess." Callie could still see Arizona in the mirror, and saw the blonde's face fall. She sighed, "You're nervous aren't you?"
The blonde shot her head back up and quickly answered, "No! No, it's… it's not that." She shut the water off, just as Callie grabbed a towel and held it out for her to grab. Wrapping it around her body, she placed her hands on Callie's shoulders gently turning her so she could see those beautiful dark eyes that she has come to love so much. "I promise you it's not that. I'm ready, I want this."
Callie was surprised at her wife's words and at how sure she was. She reached up and cupped the still bright red face, "Please don't lie to me. Don't do this just to make me happy, Arizona." She ran her thumb across a few droplets that fell down from wet hair.
"I want to make you happy. I want to be happy. And if this is the way it's going to happen… Then that's what I want." The blonde placed her hands over Callie's, and brought one down to cover her heart. "You make me happy Calliope."
That was the last straw for Callie. Her heart damn near leaped straight out of chest at Arizona's words. Biting her bottom lip, she couldn't help what was about to come next. The hand that was still on heated skin moved around to the back of Arizona's neck and pulled her in for a searing kiss, instantly bruising their lips. Plump lips devouring thin ones and without one of them asking for permission they both opened their mouths and caressed each other's tongues. Arizona nipped at Callie's top lip, and swallowed Callie's low moan. The blonde leaned all her body weight onto Callie, pushing the taller woman against the counter. Hands began to roam freely, until Callie pulled away.
"Wha.. What's wrong?" Arizona asked, blood rushing to places that desperately needed Callie's touch.
Callie giggled, seeing how Arizona still had her eyes closed and her hands were still kneading at her hips. "We have to leave in an hour."
Arizona opened her eyes and reality came back into vision. "Oh yeah. Right, duh." She really didn't want to stop, but Callie was right. She gave Callie her best super magic smile and said, "We're getting our daughter back."
The car ride to the airport was filled with dancing music, giggles, and stolen glances. They both were truly excited about going to Miami. It was their chance to have their family back together. Arizona was more excited about maybe seeing Calliope in a bikini, which made her blush and giggle.
"What are you laughing about?" Callie asked playfully.
Arizona shrugged and decided to ask anyways, "Am I going to see you in a bikini?" Raising her eyebrows seductively and winking.
Callie's mouth went dry, and the tingling between her legs that was there earlier came rushing back. "Umm.. There are beaches, and I usually don't wear normal clothes on them…" Her choice of words were lacking, so she shifted and played on. "Only if you're lucky." Better.
Arizona threw her head back in laughter, and placed her hand on Callie's thigh. "Mmm, are you feeling lucky Callie?"
The Latina could not catch a break with this woman. She didn't even know where all of this was even coming from. Sure, she and Arizona were getting closer. Much closer. But Callie didn't know they were on that kind of level yet, clearly she was mistaken. She switched hands on the wheel and laced her fingers with creamy ones, "Extremely."
Once they got into the airport Arizona let go of Callie's hand and didn't walk as close to her anymore. The blonde became overwhelmed with so many eyes on them, and couldn't help but feel insecure with her new found sexuality. Callie took notice of the sudden loss of contact, but didn't let it get to her. It wasn't the time or place to pick a fight about it, and didn't want to upset Arizona right before she meets their daughter.
The wait for the plane wasn't very long, but not having the playful Arizona during their wait made it feel like forever. They took their seats and adjusted themselves so that they were comfortable. Arizona's body tensed a little, but she didn't know why. Callie saw the fear hit Arizona's face, and took her hand into hers. The blonde looked at their hands and then back up at Callie with tears lining the rim of her eyes.
"I'm sorry." She spoke softly.
Callie knew what she was apologizing for, but selfishly wanted Arizona to come out and say it. "For what?" Cocking her eye brow.
Arizona took in a sharp breath and squeezed tighter as the plane started its lift off, talking was helping. "For letting go. I was scared… That people were looking at me different. I'm not used to all this yet. We've been behind closed doors and now…" She waved her arm around the plane, "Now we're in the real world. I want to be ready, but I don't know how to get rid of this feeling of insecurity…" Her voice fell flat, and she took her eyes off Callie.
The Latina bowed her head, that wasn't how she wanted Arizona to feel. She knew what if felt like at first to be openly gay. To have all those eyes on you, and having that feeling like everyone is talking about you. It was hard, but she got over it because of Arizona in the first place. It was Erica who helped her figure it out, but it was really Arizona who helped her be comfortable with who she really was. Now it was her turn to pull Arizona out of it, and help her. "I will be here every step of the way. If you don't want to hold my hand then fine, but don't hide yourself from me."
Arizona moved closer to Callie and placed a light kiss on her cheek. "Thank you," was all she was able to manage. She could see the love shining through Callie's eyes again, and it made her stomach do flips. She didn't really care who was watching them now, because all that mattered was this moment right here. Lifting her head she stared out the window, mesmerized by how small everything looked from her view. Callie watched her closely, she couldn't remember if she told Arizona about how she exactly she lost her leg, and really didn't want to bring it up while they were in the air. The Latina put their hands in her lap, bringing Arizona out of her daze.
"Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?" Callie winked. She knew what she was doing, and was prepared for her sexy, playful blonde to peak back out.
Arizona blushed, "Calliope Torres. Are you flirting with me on a plane?" Leaning in so that she was right next to Callie's ear, "With everyone here to watch?" she whispered and nipped at her ear.
Callie swallowed hard, she wasn't prepared enough for that one. "Watch what?" Callie breathed out, genuinely curious at this point.
The blonde reached out her fingers to play with the stitching on the inside of Callie's pants, "What do you want?" she asked in a low tone. She knew exactly how to turn the Latina on, but knew she wouldn't be able to carry anything out if she really asked her too. Arizona wasn't ready for all that yet, but damn, it was fun trying.
"I want you." Callie's eyes almost went black when Arizona dipped her head to lightly graze her lips across the brunette's jaw line. "Arizona…" she whispered.
Arizona didn't stop, she loved tan skin against her lips. "Calliope."
Callie brought their hands back up on the arm rest and turned her head so that their noses rubbed against each other. Sparkling blue eyes locked with dark ones, then their lips met but only briefly before a short red head cleared her throat.
"Umm, I have to ask if you two would like anything." Her voice was high pitched as her eyes looked everywhere but at the couple.
Callie giggled, "No, I think we're good." Looking over at the blonde who still had passion running wildly in her eyes, she scrunched her nose and smiled. Oh yeah, they'll be okay.
The playfulness and flirting came to an excruciating halt when the pilot came over the intercom and said they will be landing soon. Arizona's palms became sweaty and Callie could see her heart beating like crazy in her neck. The blonde stayed quiet as they grabbed their luggage and headed off the plane. Keeping her eyes on the multi-color tile, she felt Callie's hand brush against hers. Arizona still didn't look up, but took a deep breath and intertwined their fingers and pulled Callie closer to her body. This was her safe zone.
A black Bentley pulled up right next to them as a young man hurried out and gave Callie the keys. She tipped him, and opened the passenger door for Arizona. The blonde raised an eye brow in question while Callie rolled her eyes and quickly kissed Arizona, and smiled against her lips. "Get in and I'll tell you."
Arizona willingly obliged and waited for the brunette to get in the car. Her eyes went wide when she realized that not only will she be meeting their daughter, she would also be meeting Callie's parents. She knew she was great when it came to parents, but this was different. They already knew her, the old her. What was she supposed to do, re-introduce herself to them? To their daughter? What if they didn't like her? The questions that were intruding her mind last night made their way right back in. Suddenly feeling a warm hand on her thigh she snapped her head up and saw worry written all over Callie's face. She smiled reassuring Callie that she was alright and raised her eyebrows again, eliciting a laugh from that perfect mouth.
Callie settled herself into the seat and began driving. "My parents, umm, they are incredibly wealthy." She looked over to see Arizona's reaction but didn't really get one, so she continued. "I have trust fund. Well no, we do. It's ours. So technically we're wealthy as well, but we never use it unless something really bad happens."
Arizona looked at Callie intently, "Like my accident?"
The brunette propped her elbow up by the window and ran her fingers through her hair. "Like your accident." She could feel Arizona's eyes burning holes into her face. "They have an amazing house, so don't make a big deal out of it. And they uhh, they have a maid I think? I don't really know I hate talking about it, so I don't ask about who they've recently hired."
"Did I know all this when we first started dating?" Arizona asked with a nervous tone.
"No I don't think so. But you aren't the type of person who would use me because I have money Arizona, so throw that thought out the window." She glanced over and gave her a weak smile, hoping to lighten the mood just a little.
Arizona stared at the road, a million questions filling her tired head. She could tell they were almost at her parent's house, as Callie turned into a very nice neighborhood. Every house was basically a mansion surrounded by palm trees and guarded by gates. Her stomach was completely filled with butterflies when they pulled into a long drive way, Callie punched in a code and drove past the gates. She was pretty positive she was going to throw up when Callie put the car in park, and took off her seatbelt.
Arizona grabbed Callie's hand in a panic, "I don't know if I can do this."
Callie took a deep breath and shifted her body towards her wife, "Sofia needs you. She misses you. Do you remember the phone call I got before we went home from the hospital?" Arizona nodded her head, "That was her. Telling me how excited she was to be going to Miami with grandpa. And you know what she told me?" The blonde's eyes sparkled with life again. "She told me to tell you that she loved you too."
Arizona let out a breath she didn't even know she was holding and nodded. Getting out of the car she could see someone standing in the doorway, but quickly disappeared. Next thing she knew an older man opened the ginormous door with his arms spread out wide. That must be her father, she thought. He and Callie embraced each other, and stood back at arm's length just staring. It warmed Arizona's heart and made her think about her own father, how they did that when he would get back from one of his missions. Shaking her head she put on a brave face and walked into the palace.
Carlos looked at Callie over his shoulder silently asking if it was okay to get his granddaughter. Callie put herself directly in front of Arizona and put her hands on tense shoulders, "You can do this." That was she could get out before a little monster attacked her legs.
"Mommy!"
"Hi baby girl!" Callie bent down, picked the little girl up and twirled her around. "Have you been good, did you do as I told you?"
The little girl kicked her legs and giggled, "Yes mommy." She wrapped her little arms around Callie's neck and breathed her in.
Arizona stood there dumbstruck. Her heart thumping, but her mind was silent. Tears started to burn her eyes when she saw the little girls face sitting on Callie's shoulder, cuddling into her mother's neck. She wanted to fall to her knees and break down, because she hated the fact that she couldn't remember anything about her daughter. The first time she saw her, her first birthday, when she started walking and talking. Nothing, but she knew she loved that tiny human more than she loved herself even if she couldn't remember those things.
Sofia opened her eyes and almost leapt over Callie's shoulder, "Mama!" Callie put her down and she went sprinting over to Arizona. Instantly met with bright sapphire eyes and open arms. It knocked the breath right out of the little girl when she came crashing into Arizona's arms.
Arizona did end up falling to her knees, but instead of breaking down she was met with the most transcendent hug. Little hands flew to blonde hair pulling her closer. Arizona wrapped one arm around the tiny body and the other hand was stroking black hair. She closed her eyes and put her face against her daughter's neck, breathing in her scent. This was her daughter, and she was her Mama. This was what it felt like to be in love. Arizona heard Sofia sniffle and she could no longer hold in her own tears. Not wanting to let go but reluctantly pulled herself away just so she was able to look at her daughters face. "Hi Sofia."
Sofia's eyes were puffy and her cute little nose was all red, "You came back for me."
Arizona about died right then, hearing those words tumble out. "I will always come back for you." She whispered and pulled the little girl back tightly against her chest.
Callie stood back in awe, holding her chest with one hand. She never realized how much Arizona really needed Sofia, just as much as they both needed Arizona. Callie couldn't take it anymore, so she fell to her knees as well and wrapped her arms around the both of them. She leaned her forehead against Arizona's, as they both closed their eyes and smiled in complete bliss. This was their new beginning.
Sorry for the late update! The Family is back together again! But there are still more obstacles to jump through first. Hope you all enjoyed reading, I know this was a log chapter but I needed to get everything in. Goodnight Lovelies (:
