A/N: Yes, I'm finally back from the grave and have brought you a hopefully okay chapter! I am so sorry my job has been working me so much that I have not had any time to work on my fan fictions! Please don't hate me!
Chapter Three:
The Black Gate Opens
Jessica slowly opened her eyes, staring at the stone ceiling above her as the realization hit that she was not home.
She was back in Middle Earth...why did life hate her?
She groaned and rolled over in the very comfortable bed into something solid. Jolting up she looked down at none other than a shirtless Faramir.
"Don't look so horrified," Boromir called from the other side of the room, tying his trousers together before setting to work on his boots.
"How else am I suppose to react?" Jessica snapped.
"You drank a lot and then cried a lot. You ended up passing out on Faramir after vomiting on his tunic," Boromir explained with a grin. "What happened to the woman that could hold her liquor?"
"It's been sixteen years!" Jessica yelled causing Faramir to snort and roll over. Jessica instinctively slid out of bed to look outside of the large open window.
"And two kids later," Boromir teased.
"How?" Jessica questioned as Boromir came up behind her with clothing and boots.
"Ale is a magical thing, dear. Here," Boromir said pushing the clothes into her arms. "Can't have you running around in those clothes."
"What's wrong with my clothes? They are easy to move in," Jessica answered.
"They make you look like a harlot and you will be the first an enemy will attack," Boromir responded.
"Will you both cease your talking!" Faramir groaned, rolling to cover his head.
"Faramir, will stay behind on this adventure. My father and him are to keep and eye on Mordor," Boromir whispered.
"Mordor?" Jessica questioned as she pulled her shirt over her head. She moved to the wardrobe behind Boromir who quickly turned his back to her out of respect. "Boromir I'm sure you have seen women and I have a bra on. Stop acting like a child."
"It's being respectful," Boromir chimed. "Mordor has a dark cloud over head. We believe a new threat as risen and now that you are back it must mean there will be another monumental battle."
"You can turn around now," Jessica said as she finished pressing her chest down and tying her tunic together. Boromir turned and couldn't help the smile that spread across his face. "What?"
"You look just like you did sixteen years ago," Boromir stated. Jessica finished dressing as the two chose to exit silently in favor of the stables outside of the castle.
"You still remember how to ride?" Boromir teased as the stable boy appeared with two horses for them.
"Can you keep up?" Jessica snorted, taking the Gondorian helmet from one of the guards, that stood guard close by. She quickly twisted her hair up and her transformation was complete.
"Just like the warrior we remember," Denethor commented, coming down the stairs.
"I swear I think you prefer me as a man," Jessica answered.
"Ride fast. Ride safe," Denethor stated before Boromir broke his horse out into a fast run. Jessica quickly urging her horse to follow and catch up.
Mordor
The black gates slowly creaked open unleashing three sets of ringwraiths upon their black steeds. As they raced through the maze of the shadow land, a lone rider came last. Body cloaked in black, the rider looked back once before giving a deep bow to the ever watchful eye that now gazed from the pits of Mount Doom.
The ring may have been destroyed but the malice and hatred was still present. This alone was enough to keep the darkness alive, to complete the ritual they just needed one more thing. With this goal in mind, the dark ride ushered their horse on ward to search the forest for the rejected one.
Kristy
"I can't even remember how to ride a horse," Kristy whispered in excitement as she walked next to the beautiful white stead before her.
"Don't worry, Laudi, is one of our more gentle beings," Arwen said with a smile.
"You know you do not have to leave," Elrond uttered under his breath.
"Father is right," Elladan added. "You have only just arrived."
"Yeah, I guess your right. Plus if Jessica is here…" Kristy whispered.
"You know she is tearing the forest apart right now trying to figure out where you are," Elrohir continued. This caused the twins to share a knowing glance before looking to their father who seemed to gather where their thoughts were going.
"On second thought…" Elrond commented. "You might want to leave now. My home has been very quiet without you three running amuck."
"It has been rather boring," Arwen whispered in Kristy's ear.
"Mother…" Eldarion called looking toward the expansive forest surrounding Rivendell with caution, drawing all attention to where his eyes focused.
"What is it my son," Arwen questioned looking toward the skies.
"Those clouds…I've never seen those come toward Rivendell before. Is that new?" Kristy questioned.
"We have a new enemy brewing in the shadows of Mordor," Arwen explained.
"This is why Aragorn left for Mirkwood. We need to stop the war before it has begun," Elladan added.
"Are you guys going to fight?" Kristy asked.
"My sons have fought once. That is all," Elrond stated.
"We can not leave now when they are so close to our lands," Eldarion said.
"What is Jessica is out there," Kristy whispered in concern. "Or worse…Indi."
"I would not worry about Jessica. She has trained under the best of Gondor," Elrohir laughed.
"Really…" Kristy hissed annoyed.
"She wasn't trained but she did learn and fought well in the war over the ring," Elladan said.
"I've heard many stories from father. He speaks highly of your sister," Eldarion said.
"We will leave in the morning for Mirkwood. For now we will wait till the darkness has passed," Elrohir stated, motioning for Kristy to enter the halls of Rivendell.
Indi
"Alright, we have our packs…" Indi commented looking over the four hobbits who seemed very pleased with how quickly they were able to assemble.
"Just in time for brunch," Pippin chimed.
"And tea," Merry added.
"Right!" Indi laughed.
"You are in no real hurry are you?" Frodo questioned.
"Not really…" Indi whispered.
"Why?" Sam asked as they gather around Frodo's house to finish their brunch and tea.
"Well, Jessica is Jessica You know how insane she is. She is probably slaughtering everyone trying to find us and take us back home…" Indi whispered.
"And?" Frodo pushed.
"I don't know if I want to go back home," Indi said.
"It's because you are a hobbit at heart," Pippin stated with a smile.
"This feels like home," Indi confirmed.
"I'm glad," Frodo said with a smile. As the company sat around the table, eating and drinking, they continued to speak about home and their memories they shared together during their adventures. Catching up on times that they missed, but before they knew it was getting close to afternoon.
"Let's go before it gets dark," Indi stated.
"It'll be nice not being chased by ringwraiths for this journey," Sam commented.
"Agreed!" the group chimed in unison as they began the trek out of the Shire.
Shane and Serena
Shane sat in the corner of the lavish room that was to be their captures as Serena passed back and forth in front of them.
"That bastard took Mom's ring!" Serena hissed.
"Serena…" Shane hissed.
"She is going to kill me! After she kills him!" Serena continued.
"Serena," Shane called.
"Oh my god! What if this is the human trafficking part?" Serena rambled.
"Serena!" Shane shouted gathering his sisters attention as she started to rush the window.
"We can't die here!" Serena cried.
"We are not going to die here. We are going to be fine," Shane soothed as he pulled his sister away from the window. The room was three stories up and he was not ready to explain to his mother why his sibling died from jumping out of a window.
"How do you know that?" Serena cried.
The door creaked open to reveal the man who had released them from the jail cell. Shane instantly stepped in front of his sister, ready to do what he could in hopes that she would be smart enough to run out the door and not jump out the window.
"Calm down," Aragorn soothed.
"Who are you?" Shane questioned.
"I'm Aragorn," Aragorn introduced as Gimli entered the room. "I was a very close friend to your mother."
"How do you know our mom?" Shane asked.
"Where is she?" Serena called from behind her brother.
"She is not here," Aragorn answered.
"She fought with us in war," Gimli added.
"There is no way," Shane stated.
"Our mom has never been in war," Serena added.
"She had and she helped out kingdoms rid this world of a terrible evil while fighting to save her sister and Indi from the clutches of evil," Aragorn continued.
"You are lying! She is locked up in here!" Serena cried.
"No she is not," Aragorn stated.
"Has she never spoken of your father truly?" Gimli asked.
"Never," the twins whispered sadly.
"Would you like to hear a story?" Aragorn asked looking to Gimli with a smile. Both motioning to the chairs against the wall as they began their tale from the beginning.
Legolas
"My son what has you in just a fury? "Thranduil questioned.
"This," Legolas hissed throwing the ring on to the table. Thranduil's eyes focused not the ring that Legolas had claimed to have given to his intended.
"How is it here if you gave it to another?" Thranduil asked.
"The prisoners had it," Legolas stated.
"You know what this means…" Thranduil began.
"I know…they stole it," Legolas stated.
"Or…worse my son…" Thranduil continued.
"What are you saying father?" Legolas questioned.
"She may have been a warrior as you claim but all warriors have their weakness…" Thranduil stated.
"Those are her children!" Legolas shouted slamming his hands on to the table.
"A mothers love knows no bounds…" Thranduil said.
"They said she is alive!" Legolas yelled.
"Did they say that or did you have hope?" Thranduil asked with a raised eyebrow. Though he prayed for the worst outcome he hoped this would push his son forward to forget about the girl that he claimed to have stolen his heart. He watched as the realization sink into Legolas as he slowly lowered himself into the chair across from his father.
"I did not ask…" Legolas whispered.
"Then you should ask. It is better for this closure," Thranduil said rising from his chair. Placing a hand on his son's shoulder as he passed. "I'm sorry for your loss."
Jessica
"We are being followed!" Boromir called.
"The forest!" Jessica shouted.
The screamed of the wraiths wrapped around the pair and they urged theirs horses on faster. Jessica was focused only on reaching the forest from the meadow, the trees alone would give them enough cover.
"Fire!" a high voice shouted.
"Jessica!" Boromir yelled as a rain of arrows came down upon them.
