Chapter 16
A few hours later they leave the bed and start on some food Payson doing the cooking while Rigo watches her, he loved watching her move, she was so graceful yet purposeful in how she did it, she'd always have the gymnastic look.
"So anything interesting happen?" he asks.
"I had my first experience with too much alcohol" admits Payson.
"You got drunk?" he asks.
"Actually I believe as Kelly said I kind of drank myself into oblivion" mumbles Payson.
"Payson Keeler, what did Kelly Parker do to you in my absence, I take it you didn't have a very nice morning after?" he teases.
"I felt like crap, I'm never doing that again" sighs Payson as she sets the omelette in front of him before taking her seat.
"So what gave you the need to get wasted" he smirks.
"Kelly was having a hard time, her mom sent her a really horrible letter from jail and it Kelly hard, I thought it'd help but I underestimated my tolerance and accidentally downed most of a bottle of vodka" explains Payson.
"Wow you must've hurt in the morning" he winces.
"You have no idea" she agrees.
"Actually I do, I wasn't a sport Nazi like you Payson, and I went to parties and have unfortunately been wasted more times than I would like to admit" he says.
Payson just shakes her head and starts eating.
"So Kelly got into her new place okay?" he asks.
"Yeah she said she wanted out before you got back because she didn't want to hear us" explains Payson.
"Well we can get quite loud" he smirks twinning his fingers through hers and pressing a kiss to her hand.
"That we can" smiles Payson squeezing his hand.
"So how's your coaching going, well done against Denver, and your girls are going to kick butt at Nationals and good news, I'll be there to see it" he smiles.
"You will that's great" says Payson.
"Yeah I figured you might need my support, even if you are a natural" says Rigo.
"I do, it's so much more nerve wracking being the couch than the gymnast" admits Payson.
"I get it, you have to watch the performance but can't change it, and it isn't up to you anymore and suddenly you're aware of everything around you because you're no longer just focusing on your routine" he says.
"You're exactly right, I'm training the girls as best I can but when it comes down to it, its on them not me, I can train them until the cows come home but at the end of the day how they do is up to them" sighs Payson.
"Hey you're a good coach, and you've got this thing that just makes people want to do their best for you" he smiles.
"I'm so glad I found you, I'm so glad you didn't pass on that message" smiles Payson.
"So am I, believe me" he smiles smugly.
"I love you" she says getting up and wrapping her arms around his neck as he pulls her onto his lap.
"I love you too" he replies his arms around her waist.
She leans down and kisses him and soon enough they're back in the bedroom and don't emerge until the following morning.
"So you still coming to the rock?" asks Payson.
"I want to get to know your world a bit better" he smiles.
"Thank you and I love the fact you do, maybe one day you'll be able to say something more accurate than the flippy part looked cool" teases Payson.
"Maybe so, or I can just send Coach Belov over, like I did last time" he smiles.
"And you were so right to do so, thank you for that Rigo, I really don't deserve you" she says.
"Oh Payson believe me that is quite reversed, now come lets get you to work" he says.
"Okay but remember, no kissing, no touching, no pet names, nothing remotely relationship like or Sasha may murder us, and I do mean blood and cops" she warns.
"I swear but before then" he grabs her and pulls her against him his lips crashing down on hers.
The kiss deepens and her hands run through his hair.
"Now I think I can get through the day" he smiles.
"Good, I'll make it up to you tonight" promises Payson.
"Now I can definitely get through the day" he smiles.
They get into the car and drive to the rock.
She pulls into her reserved parking space and they get out.
Kelly walks in the same time.
"Morning you two, what's lover boy doing here?" asks Kelly.
"He wants to understand my world better so he's going to sit in" replies Payson.
"Yeah I'd like to be able to at least follow what she's saying and maybe even understand some of it when she talks about her day" he adds.
"Yeah plus you know he does kind of like to stalk me" says Payson in a stage whisper.
"I don't" he protests.
"Said the boy who showed up at 6am to ask me on a date and you did admit to stalking me a little bit" she reminds.
"Yeah, but all turned out good right" he smiles reaching for her but she pulls her hand away.
"Not here, hands to yourself mister" she chides.
"Yes ma'am" he smiles.
"Because unlike coach Mac did, Sasha will not tolerate one of your insanely sweet and romantic gestures, and Sasha is more likely to murder you than give you five minutes alone with me" she warns.
"Very true, I did not see that coming the fact he gave you five minutes, trust me Sasha is way scarier and he doesn't have a nice calming wife to temper him, he only has Payson and if she's the one in question we're all screwed" says Kelly brightly.
Payson gives Kelly a WTF look.
"It's true, he listens to you way more than he listens to me, probably due to the fact I did march into his gym as the enemy and the fact you know you were actually his gymnast" says Kelly.
"Well I think everyone listens to Payson" smiles Rigo.
"Not all of us" teases Kelly.
They walk inside and Rigo takes a seat in the viewing area.
Sasha does a double take as Rigo waves at him.
"He wanted to understand me when we talk so he's going to sit in, there will be absolutely nothing to challenge the no dating rule, and you won't even know he's there, I mean you heard him at the TC, he called it a double Iranian and told me how cool the flippy part was, please say it's okay" pleads Payson in the way that looked very similar to when she was asking him to let her do her second vault at Worlds.
"Alright but no romance, like I said then no kissing during practice, good thing Summer isn't here or she'd freak" warns Sasha.
"Thank you" squeals Payson as she gives Rigo a thumbs up and he smiles back at her.
"This should be interesting" mutters Kelly.
Sasha shoots her a look that clearly said shut up.
Kelly mimes zipping her lip and heads off to get things ready.
She watches Sasha through out the day, the way his eyes follow Payson around the room, how he always know where she is, and the way his face hardened when ever he saw her looking at Rigo.
He was being so stubborn if he couldn't at least be honest about his feelings he could at least hide them better.
At lunch Payson walks up to Rigo, "so starting to understand a little bit?" she asks.
"I think I'm getting some of it, how do you do that stuff I mean seriously, I thought you looked good at the TC but some of that stuff was just badass" he says.
"Thanks" smiles Payson.
"And you're like a natural with these kids, they seem to love you" he adds.
"They're great and I like doing it" replies Payson.
"Your dedicated and your amazing, I mean Payson you snuck into a resort in order to get a doctor for Lauren, I must say I really enjoyed that trip though" he says.
"Not here mister or Sasha may murder you" warns Payson.
"He doesn't seem that scary" replies Rigo.
"Really, I went to a party a couple of days after he got here and he made me, Lauren, Kaylie and Emily do punishment routines all Sunday which is supposed to be our day off and I didn't even drink, believe me he is scary" says Payson.
"Yeah except I think we now know why you don't drink don't we Payson" he teases.
"You weren't even there you cannot laugh until you've seen it yourself" argues Payson.
"We'll see about that" he smirks.
A/N So I do apologise these next few chapter wills be Payson and Rigo centric, so reigningseven I am afraid your big girl pants will be required, however there are still Payson/Sasha moments as well and Kelly is not yet done, chapter 18 has a huge Payson/Sasha thing so you will be relived for that at least.
