Hey guys here's another chapter for ya! Just figured I get it done now while I still had the chance before something pops up like it usually does with me so here you go and enjoy!

Envy V

Alright that was the scariest thing I had ever seen in my life and believe me when I say I've seen a lot of scary shit. Greed was angrier than I had ever seen him but I want to know why he held back. Last time he was even close to being this angry I saw him punch a mountain to rubble so if he wanted to he could have punched a hole through his fathers head with the first punch.

So why did he hold back? And more importantly what did his mother do that spared her a beating?

These questions ran through my head faster than Dash could fly as I tried to figure this out and judging by the looks on the others faces they were having the same thought process. Well Pinkie and Vinyl were more worried than anything.

I saw Spike was walking beside me and decided to see if he knew anything about what happened in there. The guy was practically another brother to me and the fighting skill he showed against Slate was almost on par with an actual Sin so he had more than earned my respect.

"Hey Spike do you have any idea about what went on in there?"

Spike took a quick glance ahead at Greed before slowing his stride to get some distance from the others. I followed his pace knowing that what he was probably going to say wasn't meant for the others to hear.

"Well I do know. Bro told me about it while we were training and I wanted to know about our parents. It was not a pretty picture. I'll tell you cause your practically family but you CAN NOT tell Greed. Deal?"

"Yeah deal. So what the hell happened?"

"Well back when Greed was still a hatchling he was treated very well. He was loved by his parents very much but father always seemed a little... disappointed. The reason was because Greed's strength leaned more to his intelligence than to physical strength. And then came Slate and then that's where everything changed. Slate was the exact opposite of Greed. He was strong but stupid and as they got older the more noticeable it became to father. So over the years Slate was favored more and more to the point that Greed was all but ignored by everyone in the castle save for his mother who spent occasional time with him though not very much. Then IT happened."

Spike went silent at this point. I saw how his fist were clenched so tightly that his knuckled were turning white and a small amount of blood seeped from between his fingers. His teeth were clenched so hard I thought they would break. But his eyes, they were filled with so much emotion. Anger, hatred, and sorrow were clearly visible. What had happened? I needed to know now!

"What happened Spike? What was IT?"

He took a few calming breaths before speaking up once again. Only this time his tone was devoid of any emotion.

"It was when Greed was just coming into his adolescence. He went to father to ask about royal matters since he was to take the throne soon. What he found was his father talking with a group of griffons. What he heard was father hiring the griffons to kill him. This was because the bastard wanted Slate to be king but as long as Greed was still around Slate would not be able to take the throne legally. Greed knew he had to get out of there so he decided to run. This was where our mother came in. She gave him a means of escape by getting him passage to Equestria but nothing else. She gave my egg to him because I would have been killed as well since I would have had a claim to the throne as well and could be a potential threat in the future. Now you know why Greed hate father so much and why he didn't attack mother."

I couldn't believe what I had just heard. Greed's own father wanted to have him killed just so that idiot of a brother could get the crown? My father may have been a total ass for making me the way I am out of sheer jealousy for his friends but at least he never wanted to kill me so someone else could take my place. Now that I think about it Greed's father got off lucky with what he got.

"Wow. How could Greed have kept himself from destroying this place for so long? I would have figured he had come back and turned this place to ash the first chance he got?"

Shrugging Spike responded with, "guess bro does have some self-restraint after all."

"Yeah I guess I do."

Me and Spike froze in our tracks. It was only now we realize that everyone in front of us were stopped and staring at us nervously. Except for Greed.

Slowly we turned our heads around to look behind us. Greed stood about a foot away staring down at us with unreadable eyes. Pinkie and Vinyl were sitting on his shoulders smirking at us clearly saying with there eyes 'busted'. Well more Pinkie since Vinyl had her glasses on but you could still tell.

"Envy."

I flinched when he said my name so coldly. Then he raised one of his claws and I closed my eyes in preparation for the punch I was sure would come. Imagine my surprise when I feel said claw land on my shoulder in a comforting manner.

Opening my eyes again I see Greed only now he has a small smile on his face. Okay now I was confused. One minute he looked ready to mutilate me the next he's acting like a father talking to a child... what the fuck am I missing here?

"Envy if you wanted to know about why I acted the way I did back there you should of just asked me. Your as much a brother to me as Spike is so never be afraid to ask me anything. Okay?"

The sheer care in his voice left me speechless but I managed to nod. The smile on his face was one I had never seen before. Usually it would be full of malice, bloodlust or even a little cocky but the smile he had now was something altogether different. That smile was full of happiness that I thought he only got when he killed someone but with the lack of blood it was really surprising.

Turning back to the others Greed continues to walk as me and the others fall in line behind him.

"Does anyone know what just happened back there," asked Lust.

Everyone shook there heads no.

"Good cause neither do I."
