So, I am back with Chapter 15 after the major cliffhanger and making you guys hate me :P I love all you guys!
Enjoy!
The sound of knocking on heavy wood echoed throughout the house. A few moments later, Elizabeth came rushing downstairs, panicking at the idea of who might be at the door. She opened I cautiously, then practically threw it open when she saw Jack.
"Jack!" She gasped. "What happened?" She pulled him inside, noticing that he was sullen and quiet. He just shook his head sadly. Elizabeth led him to the kitchen where Frederick was helping prepare dinner. "Frederick," Elizabeth told him softly, "we have a guest. I'll finish cutting the vegetables. Why don't you go upstairs and wash up?"
Frederick turned around, mouth widening, when he saw Jack. He smiled happily and dashed out of the room. Meanwhile, Elizabeth was hurrying to help accommodate Jack. She plopped him down in a kitchen chair, set a plate of hot food in front of him and grabbed a bottle of rum for him to enjoy. After Jack was settled, she sat down across from him. Resting her head on her hands, she looked at Jack curiously.
"What's the matter, Jack? You've barely touched your food. And by now, I expected you to have drunken your rum already. Is everything alright?" She asked softly. Jack took a half-hearted swig of his rum just to amuse her. Elizabeth smiled.
"I've been conflicted with a string of thoughts, love. That's to put it simply." Jack said, staring at the floor. Elizabeth looked around, as if she was coming out of a daze.
"Wait a minute. Where's Angelica? I thought you two were finding the treasure together. Is she hurt?" Elizabeth shot questions at him. Jack looked at her with a mixture of hate and depression. Elizabeth stopped herself from asking anything more and leaned back. "Oh," was all she said. "I'm sorry, Jack. If I knew, then I wouldn't have bothered you." She stood up quickly and walked over to Jack's side.
Jack pushed back his chair to stand next to Elizabeth. She tentatively wrapped her arms around Jack, comforting him. He froze for a moment, then shifted his weight to hug her back. Elizabeth smiled into his shoulder as she felt him shake slightly. Taking this as her cue, Elizabeth stepped away, allowing Jack to do what he wanted.
"I'm going to get some sleep now," he said to Elizabeth, quite awkwardly. She nodded as she carefully came up to him, placing a light kiss on his cheek. Jack stared in shock, but didn't do anything. They stared at each other in silence, before Jack turned around and walked upstairs.
He opened the door to the room that he and Angelica had shared. Not bothering to take his boots off, Jack lay in bed and fell asleep.
The air around Jack smelled musty and salty. Dust floated around everywhere, restricting his breathing abilities. Squinting his eyes, Jack could see a small box in the center of the room that he was in. He couldn't make out the details of the room, all he saw was a single beam of light surrounding the case. The treasure! Jack thought. "But how?" He asked aloud, to no one in particular. Jack started to walk towards the center of the room, but was held back by something. Moving his head wildly, he saw that heavy chains trapped him against a wall, wrapping around his body like snakes. He thrashed around, trying to break the chains, but the only thing that resulted from that was loud clanging of metal against stone. Jack heard footsteps coming towards him from the side. They grew louder and louder, and Jack's heart actually started beating faster.
He noticed that the footsteps were uneven, almost like the person had only one leg. The footsteps entered the room, and Jack shut his eyes, for reasons unknown to him. When he slowly opened them back up, he saw Hector Barbossa standing in front of him, in his filthy, pirate-y, glory. Barbossa smirked devilishly.
"Hello, Jackie," he growled, exposing his yellow teeth.
"Hector," Jack scoffed back, raising his chin in disapproval. He moved his hand down to his sheath to draw his sword, but noticed that it was gone. He groped around frantically, while Barbossa was chuckling.
"Sorry, Jack. All your weapons were taken from you. Courtesy to my…partner." Barbossa said. Jack looked around, trying to find Barbossa's sidekick. His attention was caught by Barbossa's menacing voice.
"Thanks to my assistant, killing you is going to be easier than I intended. Unfortunately, I was persuaded by my partner to let them kill you. I had to agree or I would've probably died right there. Don't worry, though. She'll do a much better job than I ever would. Apparently, she holds five times the hate towards you than I!" Barbossa laughed. Jack squinted his eyes.
"I would just love to know who is going to be doing the dirty work for you," Jack said, taunting Barbossa.
"You know bloody well who it is," Barbossa rolled his eyes. Jack shook his head.
"As a matter of fact, I don't. All I know is that you're too scared to kill me yourself. It would be too hard to get rid of a fantastic pirate such as me. You are a big, fat coward." Jack spat, curling his upper lip in disgust. Barbossa was fuming. He rushed up to Jack and pushed against him so hard, the chains dug into Jack's flesh.
"Listen," Barbossa hissed, "you were the one who got themselves stuck in this mess in the first place. And seeing as you're in chains, you don't have any right to talk, Jackie." Barbossa cocked his head to the side, grinning maliciously. He then turned to an opening in the wall. "You can come out now!" He barked. Hurried footsteps followed his voice, and Jack swore he heard the click of a gun. He turned his head to the side to avoid looking at the person who just emerged. A certain Spanish accent made him whip his head back.
"What?" Angelica grimaced at Barbossa. She hadn't noticed Jack yet. Barbossa stepped back and gestured to Jack.
"Here he is. Have at him." Barbossa smirked. Angelica looked at Jack, her face lacking expression. For a second, Jack saw her eyes widen in shock, but they quickly narrowed. She reached into the leather holster on her belt and grabbed her gun. Her hands were shaking as she loaded it up. Barbossa stared intently, growing frustrated. "Hurry up already!" Barbossa yelled. Angelica cursed at him under her breath and held the gun so it pointed at Jack's heart.
Angelica slowly put her finger to the trigger. Jack saw no emotion in her eyes. She stared numbly at his heart, gathering up the courage the shoot. Then, it all happened at once. She pulled the trigger and a loud bang resounded off the walls. Jack braced himself for death, but time seemed to stop. The bullet was centimeters away from his chest, when he started to shake.
"Jack!" Elizabeth's voice sounded distant as she shook him awake. "Jack!" Jack sat up suddenly, panting. He patted his chest furiously, trying to find out if he was shot. He looked up at Elizabeth, who had great fear in her eyes. "I was coming upstairs to put away some clothes and I heard small shrieks in your sleep. Were you having a nightmare?" She placed a hand on his shoulder, but he brushed it aside, wrapping Elizabeth in a gentle, grateful hug instead.
AHHHHHHHHHH! This chapter was cute. I hope you don't mind that I'm going to switch between POVs. Also, I know I said I can't stand Sparrabeth, but I have a reason for all this fluff:
Jack is in a vulnerable state (if you couldn't already tell). The only person in the world who he thinks understands him is Elizabeth. They have had such a close relationship, it's like two best friends showing each other affection. SO DON'T GET MAD AT ME OKAY THE MAJORITY OF THIS STORY IS SPARRELICA
