Chapter 16! Yayyy! I hope you guys like the alternating POVs between Jack and Angelica. :D

Angelica picked her head up from the bed and stared around the room. Jack was gone. She had been kneeling against the bed, sobbing, for the past three hours, yet it seemed like seconds ago when she heard the door slam and Jack curse under his breath. She had tried explaining that she hadn't touched the necklace since Barbossa gave it to her. But he didn't listen.

Angelica had no idea where to go from here. She wasn't sure if she should continue the hunt, or just give up. If she gave up, where would she go? Angelica shook her head, focusing on the present. She wiped the corners of her puffy eyes and stood up. She didn't bother packing anything up- they had brought so little to the inn. The only thing she did pick up was the three maps.

After tucking the maps away, she left the room, headed down the stairs, and exited the building. Angelica had no idea what the time was, but judging how busy Tortuga was, she could only assume mid-morning. There were people shoving past each other, drunk men yelling and screaming, and woman carrying crying babies to buy food. Angelica gingerly stepped around, making her way to the docks. If she was going to continue looking for the treasure, she might as well bribe somebody to take her.

When she found her way to the long wooden bridges that led out into the ocean, she looked around for a decently sized ship to join. Finally finding one, she rushed over before it could leave. She saw a young man talking to a scruffy pirate, and Angelica tapped him on the shoulder.

"Excuse me," Angelica said, standing tall, "are you taking sailors right now?" The sailor turned around in annoyance, telling the other man to go away. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.

"Yes, we are. But certainly not to a…woman." He spat the word out in disgust. Angelica's face didn't change expressions at all. She was used to being turned down for being a girl, so this denial was just another small problem. She had other things to worry about.

"Can you explain to me, why, perhaps, you aren't letting women on this ship? I see no reason why you wouldn't." Angelica narrowed her eyes. The man stepped closer.

"Women aren't built to travel the open seas. Besides, they aren't good for anything but cooking and cleaning." The man spoke softly, but in a menacing tone. Angelica decided to fight his nonsense with fact.

"I have been traveling the ocean since I was a child. I was practically born on a pirate ship. Besides," Angelica mocked the man's voice, "my father was a pirate. A very good one at that." The man doubled over in laughter.

"Who?" He cried between chuckles, "Blackbeard?" He put air quotes around the name. Angelica didn't even bother to answer, knowing that he would kill himself from all the strain from laughing. She stepped back and crossed her arms.

"Are you even the captain? Show me the real captain of this ship," Angelica demanded. The man stopped laughing and groaned, waving somebody on the ship over to join them.

"OI! Sherman! Get over here! Somebody wants to complain to you," The man scowled at Angelica as the captain made his way down to port.

"What's the problem n-" He started to talk to the foul man who talked to Angelica, but the captain stopped once he caught sight of her. He grinned and introduced himself. "I'm Captain Sherman. You are?" He offered Angelica his hand. She stared blankly at him and let him gently kiss the back of her hand.

"Angelica." She said tastelessly. She looked over at the man who made fun of her before, who was staring in shock. The captain smiled, and Angelica couldn't help but smile back. He was young, and quite handsome. Angelica could feel herself blushing under his gaze, and she tried to control her emotions. Although she was close to Jack, there wasn't anything set in stone….

"That's a lovely name," Captain Sherman complimented. "What did you need to talk to me about?" He asked delicately.

"I wanted to be a part of your crew. I'm going somewhere, and I obviously need a ship. Or at least to be a part of one. But, he," Angelica jabbed a finger towards the first man, "said that women were a disgrace on board." Sherman looked at the man in disgust.

"Eddie!" The captain yelled at the man, who looked scared. "You can leave now. We do not do that on our ship. That's what makes us who we are." Eddie looked desolate, but angry. He shot a grimace at Angelica and stomped away. Captain Sherman turned to Angelica.

"Would you like a spot on my ship?" He asked politely. Although Angelica found it a bit odd how pirates were acting so friendly, she couldn't help but nod.

"Yes, please." Angelica said.

"Where are you traveling to?" Sherman asked curiously. Angelica handed him the maps and he inspected them. "Ah. I see. If we start now, I can get you there within the next three weeks. Is that a deal?" Angelica nodded her head. "Great. Follow me." Sherman winked and offered a hand to Angelica. She took it warily and let the Captain guide her on the massive ship.

Every single crew member turned their heads when they saw a woman board the ship. The captain calmed down some nasty glares when he said, "This is Angelica. She will be accompanying us for the next few weeks, as she needs to go somewhere. While she is here, nobody is to touch her, nobody is to make her feel uncomfortable, nobody is to sneak into her cabin at night. I'm talking to you, Roy," he stared at a short, fat man who nervously hid behind a slew of men. The captain turned to Angelica and whispered, "Make sure you lock your door at night." She smiled anxiously, heart pounding.

Captain Sherman led her to large cabin at the bottom of the ship. He opened the door for her and led her inside. He closed the door behind them, and backed up against the wall when he saw the worried look on Angelica's face. He laughed. "Don't worry. I follow the rules that I give everybody else. Now, the dining area is down the hall to your right, and the stairs to go up to the deck is to the left. My cabin is across from yours, so if you have any trouble or need anything, just knock. I think that's everything…."

"Thank you very much," Angelica said quietly staring at the floor. Captain Sherman returned the favor.

"My pleasure," he said, stepping out of the room and closing the door behind him.

Ayyyyy this chapter was really boring in my opinion, but it WILL get better I promise you that. xD
