Fixing Mistakes

Chapter 22 - Catching Up

2014

Caroline cradled Klaus's face in her hands as she kissed him passionately. Her body pressed against every inch of him as she reassured herself that she was back in his arms for forever.

Klaus hungrily swallowed Caroline's moans as his hands frantically caressed her body, his fingers never staying in one place, always moving, needing to feel her beneath his hands to make sure she was real. That it was finally his Caroline in his arms and not the girl who'd been wearing her face for the last few years, the girl that he had still fallen in love with only to be hurt, time and again, by her rejections and harsh words. He now knew how Caroline must have felt, to have fallen for one version and then to fall again for another, only difference being that the other version of Caroline didn't like him when they met. She had warned him of that but it still didn't make it hurt any less.

Caroline was lost in a haze of blissful arousal, Klaus's fleeting touches setting her whole body on fire and making every nerve ending spark to life. She tenderly ran her hands down to his to chest, she slipped her hands under his jacket and slowly slid it off his arms until it dropped to the ground. Then she reached for his shirt, pulling it out of his pants, dragging it up his body, and finally separating their mouths so that she could pull it over his head and throw it, not caring where it landed. She looked down at his chest and a beautiful smile curled her lips as she ran her hand over the birds and feather tattoo on his arm and chest, "You still got your tattoos." She danced her fingers across his shoulder to the triangle on his back, following the lines with the tip of her finger.

Klaus let out a shuddering breath as Caroline traced his tattoo, the touch was sensual and intimate, adding to the raging inferno inside of him. His body came alive under her touch, craving her caresses and the brush of her lips against his skin, he had been without her for centuries and he was starving for her. He needed Caroline. Her touch, her kiss, her body, her soul, her love, he needed everything from her. He spun around and claimed her lips again. His hands on her shoulders, slowly sliding the straps of her dress down her arms, then he reached behind her to unlace the ties of her dress, pushing the material over her hips to pool at her feet.

Caroline kicked the dress away from her feet, uncaring of where it landed as she was not planning on wearing clothes for a long time, she had a lot of lost time with her husband to catch up on. With that in mind she broke their kiss and stepped back, giggling as Klaus growled. Smirking she teasingly ran her fingers under the waistband of his pants, "I think someone is over dressed."

"So it appears." Klaus returned Caroline's smirk and reached out to cup her perfect breasts in his hands, "How do you suppose we change that?"

Caroline grinned, quickly popping the button of Klaus's pants open then sliding his zipper down, pushing them down and letting out a delighted moan as his cock sprung free, "Commando? Mmm, I like it."

Klaus smirked, twisting Caroline's nipples in his fingers, "Naked... the only way for you to be."

Caroline giggled, her eyes shining playfully, "How about on my knees?" She dropped to her knees, eyeing Klaus's erection with lust full eyes, her hand wrapping around him and stroking him firmly. Leaning forward she swirled her tongue around the head, moaning quietly at his taste - tangy, rich and just Klaus - she began sucking the head into her mouth, her tongue still circling catching his pre cum, her hand continued to stroke his length.

Klaus groaned, his hands buried in Caroline's curls, watching her with hooded eyes, subtly moving his hips to tell her to take more of him, "Stop teasing, sweetheart, and swallow all of my cock."

Caroline's eye grew darker with desire at Klaus's husky demand. She released him to whisper, "As you wish, Niklaus." She moved her hands to his hips, opened her mouth and slowly took in his length, her lips stretching tight around him as he slipped down her throat. She swallowed around him and repressed a giggle at the strangled moan of her name that escaped his throat. Keeping her eyes on him she pulled back until only the head remained, swirled her tongue around it, and took him back in. She repeated this, swallowing and sucking, going slow one moment and then faster the next, no set patterns to her movements, keeping Klaus in a haze of desire as her head bobbed up and down, loving the sounds escaping him.

Klaus's mouth hung open as he panted, groaning almost constantly, his eyes almost black with desire as he watched his hard length disappear in and out of Caroline's hot mouth. The sight so utterly arousing that it took all he had to not just grab her head and fuck her mouth until he came. Unconsciously his hips thrust forward. Her eyes sparkled back at him, permission and want clear in her lust full gaze. Who was he to deny his wife her desire? He moved his hands from her hair to cup her cheeks, eyes never straying away from her lips, he pulled his hips back and then back in, groaning at the sight, again and again he thrust himself deep in her mouth. Feeling the tingle at the base of his spine he curled his hands in her hair, thrust once more down her throat and held her against him as he spilled his seed down her throat growling, "Caroline! Jesus... you feel so good."

Caroline swallowed all of Klaus's orgasm, moaning at his tangy taste, her pussy practically dripping with how turned on she was. When Klaus finally released her she let his dick slip from her mouth. She stood up and curled her arms around his shoulders, holding him tight against her, her body humming with desire for him.

Klaus bent his head and took Caroline's lips in his own, moaning as he tasted himself on her lips. He cupped her ass in his hands and pulled her up, her legs wrapping around his waist. He whooshed them over to a nearby tree and ravished her mouth, his cock twitching as it rubbed against her soaked pussy. Pulling back he smirked, his fingers tightening around the cheeks of her ass, "I am going to eat you, my love." He ran his nose along her neck, "I am going to taste every bit of your pussy and gorge myself on your juices."

Caroline's breath became ragged, her eyes wide with desire, her pussy becoming even wetter at Klaus's words. God, she wanted him, so bad that it ached. Those devilish lips of his could make her scream, his mouth, teeth and tongue could drive her wild until she fell apart. Unable to properly express her desire all she could do was moan, "Klaus... Please..."

Klaus smirked at Caroline's plea, her eyes dark with desire for him. Oh, how he would make her scream for him. He lifted her body up until her pussy was directly in front of him, he pushed her legs over his shoulders and held her by her hips, "Much better. You're all mine now, Caroline."

Caroline dug her fingers into the bark of the tree and tightened her thighs around Klaus. Her heart racing in exhilaration at the tantalising position they were in. Klaus's mouth a hairs breath from her pussy, her legs over his shoulders sandwiching his head between her thighs. God, she was so unbelievably turned on that she wouldn't be surprised if she came just from feeling his lips on her.

Klaus licked a path from Caroline's pussy to her clit which he circled before sucking gently. He groaned at her taste, like apples just before they ripened, still sweet but with a hint of bitterness. He continued to suck and nibble her bud, her hips thrusting against his face as her thighs trembled and tightened around him. He made his way down to her slit and licked her with short strokes, teasing her, delighting in the cries that escaped her.

"Ah!" Caroline cried out, her fingers leaving holes in the tree as she desperately rocked her hips against him, needing him to stop teasing her and just devour her pussy until she came on his face, "Oh! Klaus... I need... God I need you to eat my pussy... Please... Make me come..."

Klaus groaned against Caroline's flesh, his cock jumping back to life at her plea, her words were so fucking hot that he answered her immediately. He circled her opening before pushing his tongue inside, searching for her spot and once he found it he relentlessly worked it. He moaned delighted as Caroline became incoherent, just moans and sighs and random screams of his name, her hips jerking against his mouth. He knew she was close. He pulled back, grinning at her moan of displeasure, licked along her slit once more before seductively whispering, "Come for me, Caroline, fuck my face." He dived back in and took her clit in his mouth and furiously sucked and circled the little nub. The sounds escaping Caroline were the sexiest thing he had ever heard. His cock was rock hard again and aching to be buried deep in her tight heat.

Caroline was reduced to cries, whimpers, and screams as Klaus tormented her clit with his wickedly talented tongue. She grabbed onto a tree branch and held his head with her other hand as she bucked her hips. Her eyes rolling into the back of her head as her body tightened and she let out a scream of, "KLAUS!" And ripped off the branch of the tree she was holding.

Klaus groaned as Caroline came, moving from her clit to her lips he ate her desperately, moaning wildly as he licked up all of her juices, her muscles contracting around his tongue. Not able to wait any longer he sank to his knees, ripped his mouth away from her delicious pussy and slid her wet cunt down his chest to slam her down on his cock, her trembling legs against his chest. He held her hips and moved her against him, slamming her down as he thrust up, hitting so deep inside her, the spasms of her walls squeezing his dick, making him growl every time.

Caroline held onto the tree as Klaus fucked her, moaning continuously as he hit her spot, another orgasm building from what felt like every inch of her body. Arching her back she screamed wordlessly as her orgasm ripped through her with the force of a tornado, leaving her breathless and her pussy aching.

Klaus groaned as Caroline's walls pulsated around him. He stopped to allow her to recover from her second orgasm, when the fluttering of her walls died down he reached up and moved her legs off his shoulders to wrap them around his waist, he curled one arm around her back to pull her up so that she was sitting on his lap, with his other he cupped the back of her neck and pulled her mouth to his, passionately kissing her as he began moving her against him again, this time slower and full of love.

Caroline wrapped one arm around Klaus's shoulder and buried her other hand in his hair. Her mouth moved against his lips, moans escaping her as her hips bucked against him. He was so hard inside, scorching her as he thrust deep within her. She was so hot for him that it thrilled her. They must have made love thousands of times since they got together and yet she could never get enough of him, addicted to the way he felt inside her and the pleasure he made her feel. She smirked against his lips before pushing him down so that he laid against the ground, she sank back down on his length and cried out as she bucked wildly above him.

Klaus held Caroline's hips and just watched her as she rode him. God she was gorgeous, her plentiful breasts bouncing delightfully in front of him, her curls swinging wildly around her, her fingers clutching his chest as her pussy clenched around his dick, her face screwed up in pleasure, moans falling from her lips. He could feel the tingling at the base of his spine and his balls begin to tighten as his orgasm built, "I'm so close, my love." He scratched his nails across her belly until he reached her clit which he rubbed with his thumb, "Come for me, Caroline."

Caroline thrust against Klaus's thumb and cock with wild abandon, cries escaping her as her clit began to ache and little nub inside started to throb, she threw her head back, buried her hands in her hair, circled her hips a couple more times before screaming, "Ah! Ah! Ooh! God... Oh god, Klaus!..." Her pussy clenched around him.

Klaus groaned as Caroline tightened around him, he thrust into her a few more times before growling, "Caroline!" And he finally came inside her, "God! You feel so good... So fucking tight..." Her clenching walls drawing out his orgasm, milking every last drop of his come.

Caroline collapsed onto Klaus's chest, her breathing laboured, and her body aching deliciously, "Well, that was definitely the best welcome home I've ever received."

Klaus's chest rumbled with his deep laugh, he curled his arms around Caroline's back and lazily drew patterns onto her skin, "It was indeed." He brushed a kiss against her head and whispered meaningfully, "I love you so much, Caroline Mikaelson." He tightened his arms around her, "Being without you was torture. I craved you everyday with an ache that never left. Not until you were back in my arms for good." He smiled at her lovingly, raising his hand to cup her cheek and stroke her skin, "Now I am happy, now I feel complete."

Caroline smiled, tears clinging to her lashes, heart beating wildly at being in Klaus's arms, "I love you, Klaus Mikaelson, and I promise you that I will never ever leave you again."

Klaus pulled Caroline towards him and whispered against her lips, "I'm holding you to that, my love." He covered her mouth with his and kissed her so sweetly, so gently, just reaffirming their love for one another. He had waited centuries for this moment.

Caroline lovingly caressed Klaus's lips with her own, sighing in contentment as she felt his stubble rub against her skin. She would happily spend all day in the arms of her hybrid but she needed to see her family and her friends. She pulled back and winked at him, "We'll continue this later, Klaus."

Klaus pouted as Caroline removed her tempting body from his though his eyes feasted shamelessly on her glorious nakedness. She was truly the most beautiful creature to ever grace this earth and he was smugly proud that she was his and always would be his.

Caroline could feel Klaus's wanton gaze on her body and it made her insides clench with need. It took all she had to ignore his beautifully hard and naked body when all she wanted was to jump on him and grind on him again, and again, and again, until they both collapsed in exhausted pleasure. She had to take a breath to calm her raging libido as her nipples hardened and her core began to throb again. She quickly put her dress on to give herself time to get her passion in check.

Caroline stumbled, her hand on a nearby tree to keep her upright.

Klaus had just finished pulling on his pants when he noticed Caroline's stumble, his eyes were heavy with concern, "Caroline?"

"That was strange." Caroline laughed it off, she must have just lost her balance though that had never happened to her since she became a vampire. She removed her hand from the branch and took a step forward. Her eyes rolled into the back of her head and she began to fall.

"Caroline!" Klaus whooshed over and caught Caroline before she hit the ground. He held her tight against him and stroked her cheek as his voice grew frantic at her non responsiveness, "Open your eyes, Caroline! Wake up, sweetheart!" His breath became laboured as he felt fear grip him, "I've only just got you back."

Caroline suddenly opened her eyes wide, grabbed fistfuls of her hair and let out an ear piercing scream.

Klaus desperately tried to reach Caroline and stop her terrible screaming, "What's wrong? Please tell me what's wrong, sweetheart."

Caroline was unable to express anything other than screams as her head felt like it was being torn apart as visions of the new past assaulted her mind.

Time was finally catching up with Caroline.

1543

Klaus sat in the spot where he had last seen Caroline, his eyes filling up with tears, unable to look away from her ring and daylight bracelet. The only items of hers that he had left. He would have to wait another five centuries to see her beautiful face again, the only small comfort he had was that this time he knew that she was alive, he was not grieving her death but the length of time he would be parted from her. How would he find the strength to give her ring to Stefan Salvatore when the time came? He would have had it in his possession for almost nine centuries, and it was Caroline's. It ached him deeply just thinking about it.

Rebekah and Kol came running into the room, Henrik behind them. They had heard Caroline's voice and not long after a loud cracking sound.

"Nik! What was that sound?" Rebekah noticed that there was only Klaus in the room, "And where is Caroline? I heard her voice I am sure of it."

Kol nodded his head, agreeing with Rebekah. He had heard Caroline's voice, and had hoped that by now they would be wrapped up in one another as they were prone to do. Something must have happened, swallowing he asked, "What has happened, Nik?"

Henrik hid between Rebekah and Kol, he could sense the tension in the room and it made his hair stand on end. He had not heard Caroline's voice but then he did not have super hearing like his siblings.

Klaus was grateful in a way that his siblings had come into the room at the same time, that meant he would only have to tell them once and once was more than enough. He motioned for them to take a seat.

Rebekah, Kol and Henrik took a seat on the chairs spread throughout the room and waited, with expectant looks on their faces, for Klaus to tell them about what happened.

Klaus looked at the floor as he began, trying to hide his wet eyes from his siblings, "You did hear Caroline's voice, she came back to say goodbye and to remind me of a promise I made her."

"Goodbye?" Rebekah's voice was harsh, "Why on earth would she leave you? Or any of us for that matter." She didn't understand why her best friend would leave them, "She loves us! She wouldn't just leave us, not again."

Hearing Rebekah's questions made Kol see the answer clearly for it was plain for all to see. Caroline would never leave them if she had a choice, which meant that she did not have a say and therefore she was no longer here. She must have travelled through time again. Kol took comfort from the thought that Caroline was not dead only waiting to reunite with them in some distant future.

Klaus watched as Kol realized the truth, a truth that Rebekah and Henrik had yet to discover for themselves. He sighed, ran his hands over his face and explained, "Caroline wouldn't leave us by her own choice, but it was not her decision to make. The ones that sent her to us in the first place took her back."

"And you just let them take her?" Rebekah asked incredulously.

"If they had not intervened when they did then Caroline would be dead!" Klaus hissed back, infuriated at what Rebekah had implied. He was so close to losing Caroline for good that his emotions were on edge, the nearness of grief to his soul; a fate he had suffered for over five hundred years, would cripple him if he indulged in the thought of his almost loss.

"What?!" Rebekah's voice was hushed, not knowing what Klaus was talking about as she had only just returned after being out for the night and only returning this afternoon.

"Mikael found us and he almost killed Caroline." Klaus swallowed at the painful memory that would haunt his dreams for centuries to come, "He was moments from pulling out her heart when they both disappeared."

Rebekah's hands covered her mouth as she gasped in horror, "How does she still live?"

"They saved her and then told her that it was time to go back. She convinced them to let her return to say goodbye." Klaus replied, already feeling the pit in his stomach at the loss of Caroline. He knew that it would never leave him until they were reunited.

"Are we to do nothing?" Rebekah asked.

"There is nothing that can be done." Klaus sighed, "A higher power than witches took her away. There is nothing in this world that can bring her back." He clenched his fist, loneliness beginning to creep in at the thought of even more centuries without his wife, "We must wait until she returns, even if we see her before that time she won't be my Caroline yet, she will be a stranger wearing her face." Klaus took Rebekah's hand in his and squeezed them gently, "We must wait for our Caroline to return to us, Bekah."

Rebekah bowed her head, she understood what Klaus was saying and although it surprised her that he wouldn't take action she would have to support him or else she could find herself locked in her coffin for decades. Klaus without Caroline was cruel, controlling, angry, paranoid and possessive, and would only become harsher in her absence. She would stand by him as she always would but she prayed the time went quickly.

Kol would miss his partner in crime but he would wait for the day she would reunite with the family, for good this time he hoped.

A thought occurred to Henrik, I will never see Caroline again unless I become what my family has. It was too soon in his mind to have an answer to that, he was only young and would have many years to decide if he would change.

"Henrik has an interest in a girl." Rebekah grinned as she sat next to Kol.

Kol smirked, "Whom has caught his eye?"

"The merchants daughter Isabella." Rebekah giggled as she recalled Henrik's lovesick expression, "He is following her about and his eyes show stars as he gazes at her."

"Young love." Kol snickered, he would never be fool enough to give himself to just one woman, "Let's hope he has his fun and moves on to the next. He will have thousand of years to fall in love, again and again."

"Henrik is not like that and you know it." Rebekah shook her head at Kol's refusal to grow up and find himself someone forever and not just a night or a few days at most, "He will give himself wholly to whomever he chooses."

"He is but sixteen, Bekah, and human. He knows not what love truly means." Kol snorted as he thought about what Henrik had seen of love, "What does he have to compare it to? Esther and Mikael whom never really loved one another. Or Nik and Caroline? Whom are so unrealistic to emulate as they are soulmates and meant to be."

Rebekah felt a pang at Caroline's name, it was spoken so rarely as not to throw Klaus into a depression. He misses her so much, and the time moves slowly for him. She could never truly know what it is he feels as she is still looking for someone to love her as well, she has had a fling or two but no one whom she feels she would want to spend her very long life with.

Kol saw that the happiness Rebekah wore as she entered the room had waned as she retreated into her thoughts. Not wanting to deal with yet another sad sibling he quickly thought of an idea, "How about we invite the young maiden to dinner and see if she is deserving of our beloved brother?"

Rebekah's faced brightened instantly. She jumped up and giggled, "I must invite her at once. Luckily for us she is with Henrik riding the horses." She practically ran from the room in her haste to reach Henrik and his girl.

Rebekah stilled at the door of the stable and looked out with a smile on her face as she watched Henrik and Isabella throw one another shy smiles as they rode side by side on their horses. It warmed her heart to see her brother in the beginning stages of love. She strolled over to the two to give them just that bit longer together. When she was just behind them she called out, "Henrik! Isabella! Saddle your horses as I wish to speak to you."

Henrik quickly saddled his horse so that he could help Isabella off hers. He held his hand out and suppressed a shiver at the feel of her skin on his. She smiled at him and he felt as if his heart was going to beat out of his chest it was moving so fast.

Rebekah bit her grin at how adorable they were. All shy smiles, blushes, and innocent touches. It was nice to have something to smile about these days, what with the permanent dark cloud over Klaus's head, Kol not staying for very long, and Elijah's continued absence with the tramp who should have died. Home was a very depressing place at the moment and all she had to look forward to was watching Henrik's young love story unfold. God's I am pathetic!

Isabella smiled gently, "Miss Rebekah, it is lovely to see you again."

"For me as well, Isabella." Rebekah smiled back, "Have Henrik and yourself enjoyed the day?"

"Oh yes." Isabella looked over at Henrik and her eyes shone bright, "Horses are wonderful creatures and I feel blessed whenever I am with them." Her eyes reluctantly returned to Rebekah, "It is a joy."

The horses or my brother? Rebekah laughed silently at the thought. They were so obvious with their love for one another, after this dinner she would have to invite Isabella's mother and father over to make them aware of the courtship. If they had any problems with the couple courting Rebekah would just compel them into liking it. Smiling at them she asked, "Would you stay for dinner, Isabella? It would be wonderful to get to know you better and I'm sure my brother would take you home."

Isabella smiled widely, "I would love to." Her eyes glanced at Henrik shyly, "Do you want to walk me home afterward?"

Henrik briefly glanced at the ground before gazing into Isabella's, a brilliant grin covering his face, "It would be my honor, Isabella."

"Then it's settled." Rebekah laughed happy that Isabella had readily agreed, "I will have someone send word to your family that you will be back later."

"Thank you, Miss Rebekah." Isabella smiled at Rebekah, very happy that she was getting a chance to know Henrik's family.

"It is my pleasure." Rebekah smiled at them before taking her leave. She quickly hid behind the door of the stables and shamelessly listened in on their conversation.

Henrik caressed Isabella's cheek with the back of his hand, "I knew this day would come, my Bella, as my love for you is too obvious to ignore, that it was inevitable that my family would soon wish to meet you. I fear I am not ready to let you go yet."

"Why would you have to?" Concern entered Isabella's eyes, "Do you think they will not like me?"

"Do not be silly." Henrik cupped Isabella's cheek and pulled her head to rest against his, "They will love you, as I have loved you since we met."

Isabella smiled, "I have loved you just as long, Henrik." She raised her hand to tenderly caress the side of Henrik's face, "From the moment our eyes met, I knew I was lost and found in the same moment. My heart was yours."

Henrik tilted his head and took Isabella's lips in a loving and gentle kiss. His heart so full of love for her that he felt as if he was about to explode.

Rebekah felt the tears fall down her face. The moment she had witnessed between Henrik and Isabella filled her with happiness for the love her brother had found and sadness that she had still to find her own love.

He's going to marry that girl.

"We are gathered here to witness the union between Henrik Mikaelson and Isabella Torelli in holy matrimony." The priest began, his eyes warm at the clear love he could see between the pair before him, "God has chosen to bestow his mercy and bring this young couple together to enjoy the joy of love."

Isabella was dressed in a white dress, her bodice embellished with diamonds which sparkled every time she moved, the dress was ruffled and fanned out around her making her look like a princess, her black hair was pinned back and lightly curled, a diamond tiara in her hair. Henrik wore a black formal tunic, black pants, and the same sword that Klaus had worn at his own wedding. Once their gazes had locked they only had eyes for each other throughout the ceremony, the priests words nothing but a buzz in their ears until it was time to speak their sacred vows.

"I have known that I loved you from the day we met." Henrik started, his voice trembled with all the emotion filling him as he stared into his soon to be wife's eyes, "As our eyes met through the crowded market I felt a jolt deep within me. Your beauty left me speechless and my heart racing. From that moment on I was yours as I always will be." He took the ring; a slender band of gold with the infinity symbol carved on it, out from his pocket and slid it onto Isabella's finger, "Forever."

Isabella's tears slipped down her cheeks after hearing Henrik's vows, they made her heart burst with the love she had for him, "I was lost the moment our gazes met, my heart knowing instantly that you were whom I had been waiting for. I was lost the first time you smiled, my lips turned up against their will to share in your happiness. The first time we held hands I was lost forever. I was lost only to be found by you. I will always be found by you." She smiled bright, her lips trembling as she whispered, "Ti amerĂ² per sempre, il mio unico amore. (I will love you forever, my only love.)" She took the ring from a small pouch; a thick band of gold with the infinity symbol carved into it, and slipped it onto his finger, "Forever."

"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride." The priest declared, sanctifying their union and making it official.

Henrik cupped Isabella's face in his hands and lowered his mouth to cover hers. A happy sigh left his lips as he tasted her, his thumbs brushing against her cheeks. He was so unbelievably happy now that she was officially his.

Isabella's smile never left her lips as Henrik pulled back, his eyes were glowing with happiness and she was sure that hers were as well. She had known he was the one from the moment they met and she couldn't wait to spend her life with him.

Smiles never leaving their faces Henrik and Isabella walked down the aisle hand in hand. Husband and wife.

The party was being held at the Mikaelson's home in their ballroom. It was decorated beautifully with Isabella's favourite flowers; tulips and yellow roses, a band played on the stage, and a table was full of food.

Rebekah walked over to her brother and her new sister-in-law whom were lost completely in each other. She tapped her brother on the shoulder to get his attention.

Henrik reluctantly pulled his eyes away from his wife's to meet Rebekah's, "Yes, Rebekah?"

"It is time for our family to have a few words with you and our new sister." Rebekah replied, her eyes serious though the smile stayed on her lips.

"We're ready." Henrik slid his fingers between Isabella's and followed Rebekah as she left the ballroom to lead them to the library. All of his family was there seated about the room, Klaus, Kol and Elijah whom had come back for Henrik's wedding; Katerina was thankfully nowhere in sight.

Rebekah sat next to Klaus and began, "Congratulations, little butterfly."

Henrik rolled his eyes playfully, "I am not a little boy anymore, Bekah."

Rebekah grinned wide, Henrik would always be her little brother even though he was technically older than her now, bodily at least, as she was seventeen when she died and Henrik was now eighteen.

Klaus was not going to beat around the bush, "Have you shared the secret of our family with your bride?"

Henrik nodded, "I told her when I asked for her hand as I didn't want to start our life with a lie."

"Do you know if you'll join us? Have you discussed it yet?" Elijah asked. He did not know Henrik's wife at all as he had spend the last seven years with Katerina.

Henrik and Isabella shared a look, communicating with their eyes until they reached an understanding. Turning his head to face his siblings he answered the question, "We have talked about this at length, and we have both chosen," he gazed at his wife and they shared a loving smile, "to be together forever."

Rebekah gasped, "Does that mean?"

Henrik nodded, "Isabella and myself wish to become vampires."

Kol released a relieved breath. It had always been a fear in the back of his mind that Henrik would choose a human life over being an immortal. Klaus still stubbornly following Caroline's wish and giving Henrik a choice in the matter. He was happy that his brother chose to remain a part of their family forever.

Elijah smiled at Henrik, happy that he had found his happiness while he was human and had chosen to continue that joy into a vampire life. He was proud of his brother. He would have chosen the same if he had been human when he met Katerina.

"When do you plan to do it?" Rebekah asked, so happy that she would not have to watch her brother grow old and die while she and her siblings remained the same and would have to mourn his passing again.

"Tonight, after we seal our marriage we wish to become vampires together and wake together in our new life." Henrik replied, tangling his hand with Isabella's. They had planned for it to be this way ever since they decided they didn't want a lifetime together they wanted for it to be never ending, centuries and millenniums of them together and in love.

"Which one of us do you want to do it?" Rebekah asked.

"Nik." Henrik answered without hesitation, "You allowed me the choice to live and die as I wished without influence." He smiled fondly as he remembered his dearest sister whom was lost to time but he would one day see her again, "Caroline gave me the gift of freedom, to set my own path and now I can look forward to one day seeing her again and thanking her for her love."

Klaus smiled, "It would be my honor. Caroline would love you, Isabella." For once he did not feel a stab of loss at Caroline's name only his unending love for her at the joy she had given Henrik by making sure he gave his brother a choice, "Now you will be able to one day meet her." Klaus picked up a nearby glass, bit into his wrist and let the blood flow into the glass. He passed it to his brother, "Do you wish me to snap your necks?"

"No." Henrik shook his head, snorting at his brothers rather blunt offer.

Isabella pulled out a vial from the pouch where she had kept Henrik's ring, "We have a plan. This is Nightshade, a deadly plant, and it will ensure our deaths are quick and together."

Henrik picked up the glass and took a mouthful, grimacing at the rusty taste of the blood. He gave the glass to Isabella and watched as she drunk the rest.

"Soon you will not make that face when you drink blood." Kol commentated, a smirk on his face at their disgust at drinking the substance that they would soon crave above all.

Henrik smiled at his family, "Let's celebrate the last day of mine and Isabella's mortal life."

With that statement Klaus, Kol, Elijah, Rebekah, Henrik and Isabella rejoined the party and enjoyed their last night as humans to the full.

After making love for the first time Henrik and Isabella drank the deadly Nightshade. Soon falling into sleep, their hands joined, as they both released their last breaths and slipped gently into death.

By morning Henrik and Isabella had woken. A glass of blood on their dresser for each of them. They each drank the blood and completed their transitions.

Not once did they let go of each others hands. Forever had just begun for them.

Elijah watched Katerina frolic through the waves of the ocean with affection. Her curly brown hair was wet and plastered to her face, her naked body was hidden from his eyes beneath the waves. It was the last year of the century Klaus had given him with Katerina. It had been glorious and blissful, his heart growing even more in love with her the more time they spent together. Knowing that it would soon come to an end left him feeling hollow, he was so deeply in love that he didn't know how he would have the strength to leave her without any hope of them ever becoming one again.

"Elijah!" Katerina called out, seductive giggles falling from her lips, "I'm lonely by myself. Come and play with me." She winked at Elijah, a smirk curling her lips. She knew their time was drawing to a close, and it hurt so much to think of being without Elijah after spending almost everyday of the last hundred years together. She only hoped that one day they would find their way back together and this time make it last forever.

Elijah smirked, Katerina always brought out his playful side, a side of himself that he didn't even know existed and yet his lover was always able to tease that side out of him. He slipped off his jacket and allowed it to fall into the sand. He began to unbutton his shirt, his eyes locked on Katerina's rapidly darkening orbs, his fingers making quick work of the buttons before he threw the shirt to the side. Next was his pants which he dropped down his legs and stepped out of them. Now naked he made his way into the water.

Katerina tracked Elijah with her eyes, her breath quickening in anticipation as he neared her. Her arms automatically curled around his neck as his arms circled her waist. She pulled his head down and kissed him with all the passion and hunger she felt for him.

Elijah kissed Katerina back with a sudden hunger that was uncontrollable. Her naked body against his made his pulse race and desire sing in his veins. He pulled away to declare, as he had everyday for the last hundred years, "I love you with all my heart, Katerina. Never forget that."

"I won't." Katerina cradled Elijah's cheek, "I love you, Elijah, and no matter how long it takes we will spend our eternity together."

"We will." Elijah surged forward to cover Katerina's mouth, his kiss hard and desperate as he tried to convince himself of their words, that this was just a temporary goodbye and not a permanent one.

Even if it took him centuries to convince Klaus, Elijah was determined that he would spend forever with Katerina. After all, Caroline had given him love advice when he was human tailored to his future history with Katerina, she wouldn't have done that if she didn't think they would end up together in the end.

He just had to have hope.

1702

Cadiz, Spain

Mikael had finally tracked them down again, after almost a century and a half on the run. Henrik and Isabella were off travelling on their own for a while so they were not here. Rebekah was already at the ship waiting for her brothers to join her so that they could flee. Klaus, Rebekah, Kol and Elijah were travelling together when he caught up to them.

Klaus stared at the severed remains of his favourite horse Theo that was left on the grounds of his home. A tear fell down his cheek at the sad end to what was at times his only friend. Half of the city was in ruins, burnt to the ground by Mikael, the head of his felled horse stuck on a pile in the middle of the town square for all to see.

Elijah placed his hand on the shoulder of his grieving brother, "We must find Kol, Niklaus, and leave this city behind us."

Klaus swallowed down his pain, "I know, Elijah."

Elijah led his brother over to two horses he had stolen so that they could make their escape. They raced through the burning city to a tavern on the outskirts that Kol frequented. Jumping off their horses they ran inside and quickly spotted Kol surrounded by the taverns wenches.

"Kol!" Elijah called out to his brother, wanting to leave as quickly as possible to avoid running into their father.

"Excuse me ladies." Kol sauntered away from the women to speak to his brothers, "What are you two doing here?"

Klaus took Kol by his arm and dragged him outside away from prying eyes, "Mikael has found us and has burnt half the city to the ground. Father left the head of my horse on a pike in the town square. We must leave at once."

"I am tired of running, Nik!" Kol growled in frustration, the constant threat of his father ruining their happiness when they settled finally made him snap, "With you gone he will chase after you and leave me be."

Elijah glared at Kol's petulant refusal to leave, "Rebekah and Finn are already on the ship. It is imperative that we remain together."

Kol snorted, "Finn hardly has a say on his whereabouts seeing as he is daggered in a box. And darling Rebekah follows Nik wherever he goes. I'll take my chances."

Kol turned to walk away and found his path blocked by Elijah. He then turns back around to find Klaus blocking the other way. His eyes widen in alarm as he realizes what they're intending, "No! I will not allow you to do this to me again."

"I find it amusing that you think you have a choice." Klaus pulls out the dagger and holds it to Kol's chest as Elijah holds his arms to keep him still.

"I will hate you forever if you do this to me again, Niklaus." Kol glared angrily at Klaus, meaning it with all of his being.

Klaus slackened his hand against Kol's chest, and looked apologetically into his eyes, "You can hate me for all time, Kol, but at least you'll be alive." He pushed the dagger into Kol's chest.

Kol screamed as he began to dessicate, his veins becoming blackened and his colour turning grey as he fell back into Elijah's arms.

Elijah clutched Kol to him, he hated that they had to do this to him but he would not come quietly and he would not abandon any member of his family. He cradled his daggered brother in his arms and reminded Klaus, "We must get to Rebekah and the ship before father finds us."

"Let's go, brother." Klaus hurried to mount his horse and race with Elijah to the dock. His gaze fell to Kol's corpse thrown across the horse and he felt a twinge in his heart.

I am sorry, little brother.

New Orleans

The men that had boarded the seemingly abandoned ship were killed in seconds, only leaving one terrified man.

"Hello." Rebekah wipes the blood off her mouth with her handkerchief, "Lovely to see such a handsome face after a long journey. Can I eat him, brother?"

"I'd rather you didn't." Elijah answered Rebekah before quickly compelling the man, "Do not be afraid. Tell us where we are?"

"The French colony of Louisiana, off the shores of the town they have named New Orleans."

"This is all very interesting." Rebekah rolled her eyes and compelled the man herself, "Now be a dear and carry our things." She walked off the ship and took a look around at her new surroundings.

Soon Rebekah was joined by Elijah and Niklaus either side of her. She took a deep breath before releasing a sigh, "I do hope we can stay here for longer than we have managed anywhere else thus far."

"It is not our own fault that we could not stay, Rebekah." Elijah reminded Rebekah of the reason they always had to flee, "Our father is the cause of it."

"Do not start our new life by uttering that vile creatures name." Klaus hissed, his anger at Mikael a constant buzz in his soul, "This is a new start and we will not defile it by speaking of that man."

"I couldn't agree more." Rebekah agreed with Klaus as she stepped off the ship and made her way to the land that would become their home. Klaus followed behind her.

Elijah sighed as he watched over his brother and sister as they looked over their surroundings, "I hope that we never have to deal with him again, I truly do." He stepped off the ship and joined his family.

He hoped they finally had a home that offered some sort of permanency.

1820

New Orleans

For over a century Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah, and a still daggered Kol and Finn had called New Orleans their home, helping to build the city and watch it thrive. They lived at the Governor of Louisiana's mansion, whom overlooked their feeding as long as they paid him in large amounts of gold. They were content and happy.

Rebekah was in love with the Governors son Emil and hoped to turn him so that she could spend forever with a man whom loved her and have a fraction of the happiness that Henrik had found with his wife and that Klaus had once shared with Caroline. Even Elijah had fallen for a local witch, Celeste, and had seemed to have moved on from Katerina, at least from what she could tell. She had just asked her brothers for permission to turn Emil and was anxiously awaiting their response.

Elijah shook his head, "Rebekah, the Governor has graciously agreed to hide a lot of our... indiscretions. It would not do to turn his son into one of us."

"Please, for me." Rebekah begged, desperate to have some form of happiness for herself.

"It's not going to happen, sister." Klaus snorted, stating unkindly with a hint of malice, "If we turned every man you dropped your knickers for, then human beings would cease to exist and we'd have no bloody food!"

Emil was deeply offended on Rebekah's behalf at what her brother said, "How dare you sir! You would do well to treat..."

What happened next was almost a blur to Rebekah as she just knew, she knew, what Klaus would do and it broke her heart. Why couldn't he just let her be happy?

"Brother..." Elijah tried to intervene after Klaus grabbed Emil's collar and walked him backwards towards the balcony.

"Niklaus!" Rebekah voice was full of terror as she watched her brother manhandle the man she loved.

"Niklaus wait!" Elijah tried to stop Klaus once more.

"NO!" Rebekah screamed in desperation.

Klaus ignored them both and casually threw Emil off the balcony to his death before walking away, not sparing the heartbroken Rebekah a glance.

Elijah held his sister as she sobbed in his arms. He knew without Caroline to calm him Klaus would become his cruellest self again but to kill the son of their host and the man Rebekah claimed to love was low even for him. It seemed to him that if Klaus could not know the pure happiness that love brings than neither could any of them. He was extremely grateful that Henrik chose to explore the world with his wife rather than be subjected to Klaus's cruelties.

It was a few days later and Klaus, Rebekah and Elijah were at the funeral procession for Emil. Along the road Klaus noticed a man whipping a young black boy whom screamed with each lash. Stepping out of the procession he watched intently.

The boy, having fallen to his knees in pain, grabbed an apple off the ground, turned and threw it at the man with the whip, a fierce look of hatred in his eyes.

The man with the whip was infuriated at the slave that dared to hit him. He prepared to give the boy another lashing.

Klaus picked up a rock from the ground and threw it with full strength at the man with the whip. It hits him in the forehead and he fell to the ground, dead. He smiled in satisfaction and approached the boy, "What is your name?"

"Don't got one. Mama wouldn't name me till I turned ten, 'case the fever took me... then it took her."

Klaus crouched down before the boy, "You're a survivor, and survivors need names. How about Marcellus?"

The boy cocked his head to the side testing the name, "Marcellus?"

"It comes from Mars, the god of war, and it means 'little warrior'." Klaus explained to the boy before standing and holding his hand out.

The boy hesitated for a moment before smiling, then he took Klaus's hand in his and rose to his feet.

Rebekah and Elijah had watched the entire exchange.

"Perhaps there is hope for our brother after all." Elijah commentated, a small hopeful smile on his lips.

In the year since Marcellus had been with them, he had become an adopted son to Klaus, and Elijah and Rebekah had grown to care for the boy as well.

Elijah had taken Marcellus under his wing and schooled him in literature, music, and art. He enjoyed his time with him, and felt peace at how Marcellus brought Klaus a sense of companionship that he had been sorely missing since Caroline.

Klaus grew jealous at the admiration Marcellus had for Elijah, and the growing friendship between them. So with jealous anger he undaggered Kol, and they went on a feeding frenzy throughout the city.

A few days later, Kol tried to turn an eleven year old Marcellus into a vampire after he fed him his blood. He was preparing to snap his neck when Klaus interrupted them. Realizing that Kol was a bad influence and uncontrollable he once again daggered him.

Months later, after Klaus had grown bored and cocky, he began killing whenever he felt like it, leaving bodies all over with not a care who would find them. Elijah warned him to be careful and he told him that he blamed it on the witches and that they were being hunted as they spoke.

Elijah got to Celeste as quick as he could but it was too late, her dead eyes stared up at him from under the water in the bath that she had been drowned in. He sobbed for the loss of a woman he had loved, not as completely as he had Katerina, but enough to break him.

New Orleans

Marcellus had grown into a man under the tutelage of Klaus. He and Rebekah had grown to love one another, Klaus was disproving. After catching them kissing he daggered Rebekah and gave Marcellus a choice, live out the rest of his human days with Rebekah or leave her daggered and turn into a vampire as he'd been wanting to.

Marcellus chose vampirism.

Rebekah would stay daggered for 52 years. Once she learned the choice Marcellus had made it broke her heart.

1864

Mystic Falls

Katherine had been running from Klaus for over 360 years, a century of that was spent with Elijah that Klaus had granted them. She still loved Elijah and she always would. Over the years she had enjoyed using men for her own pleasure, she could never really settle for long as she had to be able to pick up and leave at a moments notice.

Katherine was travelling into Mystic Falls with Emily Bennett when their carriage stopped. Annoyed, she huffed, "What is it now?"

"It looks like a gentleman in having problems with his carriage." Emily answered.

"At this rate, we won't arrive until sundown. What does it matter if..." Katherine trailed off as she saw the young man, Stefan, for the first time. Her eyes were filled with interest as she gazed lustfully at him, "Who is that? He's so handsome. What do you say, Emily? Think that gentleman's family would take in a poor orphan girl from Atlanta?"

Katherine lived on the Salvatore estate. She seduced Stefan and when Damon returned from the war she seduced him too. Enjoying playing with the brothers feelings, and how they both adored her.

Katherine went to the Founders Ball with Stefan, dancing with him and loving his company. When he returned her to her room Stefan confessed his love for her and she found herself overwhelmed by his declaration but happy. Damon overheard Stefan, and once he left he tried to seduce Katherine into bed but she compelled him away still feeling her heart flutter at Stefan's beautiful words to her.

Eventually the founding families turned on the vampires and hunted them, rounding them up to put them in the church where they planned to burn them all. Katherine had a plan to ensure her survival, she would let herself be captured so that she could escape with the help of George Lockwood.

Stefan and Damon tried to free Katherine, ambushing the carriage she was in and almost succeeding until they were shot, by their father, and died, Stefan looking at his Damon in horror as he saw the light leave his brothers eyes. Their actions had almost jeopardized Katherine's plan but it luckily continued as planned and George released her and she gave him the moonstone in return.

Katherine returned to where Stefan and Damon were killed, still laying on the ground. She had been feeding them vampire blood for weeks in case something happened to them and she had already made arrangements with Emily to provide them with daylight rings when they woke and completed their transitions. She kissed Stefan softly and promised, "We will meet again one day."

Katherine left the Salvatore's behind her and ran, once again leaving everything behind her so that she remained free from Klaus.

Stefan and Damon awoke at Steven's Quarry where Emily gave them daylight rings and explained that Katherine had been feeding them her blood and that they had a choice to make.

Damon decided that he did not want to complete his transition as he did not want to spend an eternity without Katherine. Stefan chose the same as Damon, not wanting to live without him.

Stefan went to his father to say goodbye, but Giuseppe believed he must already be a vampire because he was the one that killed them, so he attempted to stake Stefan. In the struggle he stabbed himself and his blood evoked Stefan's blood lust, and unable to resist the blood calling to him he fed on his father, thus completing his transition.

Stefan returned to his brother, tempting him with a bleeding female to force him to turn, as he did not want to live forever without his brother. And just as Stefan had been unable to resist his father's blood, Damon was powerless to resist the hunger in his veins so he fed and completed his transition.

Damon was so upset at what Stefan had forced him to become that he promised his brother that he would bring him an eternity of misery.

Emily confessed to Damon that she had placed a spell on the tomb that would protect Katherine and the other vampires from being consumed by the fire. His obsession with saving Katherine was born.

Lexi arrived in Mystic Falls and met Stefan after he tried to eat her. When he took her to his home, and she saw the bodies littered around she knew what he was and she told him that he was a ripper. She stayed to help him, and in the process they became friends.

Damon could not stay and watch his brother turn into a monster any longer so he left. He told Stefan and ignored his pleas that he would do better and just left him behind. Before he left for good he couldn't help but tell Lexi to help him. He may hate him for what he forced him to become but he was still Stefan, his little brother, and another part of him would always love him.

1919

New Orleans

Elijah and Klaus ran New Orleans from behind the scenes as they did not want Mikael to get wind of what they had built here. The city was thriving, and after defeating Papa Tunde all the supernatural species of New Orleans united and lived in harmony with one another.

Rebekah and Marcel, as Marcellus was now known, were together in secret as she feared what Klaus would do to them if he found out they disobeyed his wishes. Sick of having to hide their love from everyone Rebekah made an impulsive decision. She tricked a witch into sending a message to Mikael so that he would come and chase Klaus off so that she and Marcel could stay and be together.

While Rebekah waited for Mikael's arrival she grew doubtful of what she was about to bring to this city. They only increased when out of the blue Klaus granted her and Marcel permission to be together. She needed a way to stop Mikael from coming, Marcel told her that as it had almost been six months it was likely the spell hadn't worked and Mikael wasn't coming. Rebekah breathed a sigh of relief and put away her worries and chose to enjoy the newfound freedom that she and Marcel had.

Elijah was getting ready for the opera. He stood in front of his mirror as he got dressed, but he turned toward the door when he heard footsteps approaching. When he looked to the doorway, he is dumbfounded to see his father Mikael before him.

Mikael stared at his son, "Le Grand Guignol. Saw it in Venice. Marvelous production.

Elijah glared at the man he hated most in the world, "You-"

Mikael reassured Elijah, "It's all right, son. I just want to talk."

Elijah was not convinced, "You mercilessly hunt us for centuries. You laid waste to half of Europe. Now you simply wish to talk?"

Mikael sneered, "It was your bastard brother I hunted, not you, never you. You're my blood, one that I'd be proud to call son. So, I came here to give you a chance to help me put down that whelp for good."

Elijah attacked his father in a rage slamming him against the wall. Mikael threw Elijah across the room where he slammed into the opposite wall, wood splinters come crashing down around him as he fell to the floor.

"Do you really not know me?" Elijah got to his feet, "Do you think I could or would believe in anything that you say? If you honestly believe that I would betray my own brother for you, you're a fool without equal."

Mikael curled his lip in disgust as his true son defended the beast, "I'll forgive you your sentimental affections for the thing you call brother, but you need to realize - as I did when I learned his mother had lain with a beast to beget him - that Niklaus is an abomination. You do not talk to abominations. You do not reason with them or try to change them. You erase them. So, yes, I am asking you to help me kill your brother."

Mikael took out the white oak stake, and Elijah attacked his father again. Mikael slammed Elijah up against the wall and pushed the stake toward Elijah, who desperately used all of his strength to fight him off.

Mikael held the stake against Elijah's chest as he hissed, "Stand with me or fall with him. Choose, son."

Elijah threw Mikael off of him, and stated with confidence, "I will always choose him!"

"Fine." At vampire speed, Mikael grabbed a regular wooden splinter and stabbed Elijah in the heart with it.

It was a full house at the theatre as Rebekah and Klaus sat in a private box. Klaus, looking bored and impatient, read the program while Rebekah looked around anxiously for Marcel to arrive.

Klaus couldn't help but comment, "Well, this is off to a bad start. Your first big date together in public after I gave you my blessing, and he stood you up."

Rebekah rolled her eyes at Klaus, but a sliver of worry remained, "Something must have delayed him."

Klaus smirked, "Or, now that your elicit affair is out in the open, he finds the whole relationship a tad lackluster and has run off to Havana with a showgirl."

"Don't be such a toerag. I'm going to check the lobby." Rebekah stood up in a huff and left their box to search for Marcel.

Klaus called out as Rebekah left, "See if you can't find our brother while you're there. The curtain is about to go up."

Rebekah left their box, and Klaus set the program down. Someone entered the box and sat down behind him. It's Mikael. He pokes his white oak stake against Klaus' back.

Mikael leant forward and hissed into Klaus's ear, "I would advise against trying to flee, boy. I can drive this into your heart before you can even think of getting to your feet, and I don't want you to die yet."

"Mikael..." Klaus whispered in shock. How had Mikael found them? He and Elijah had been so careful to keep their dealings within the city behind the scenes.

Mikael sneered, "What? No 'Father'? Have you finally grown out of your desperate need for a daddy?" Mikael laughed, "You are nothing but a bastard, Niklaus. I wonder if your real father would be as embarrassed as I was of you before I discovered you were not mine. Most likely." Angry, Klaus was about to turn around but Mikael stopped him, "Oh, oh. Uh-uh. Easy now, boy. Don't worry. Death will come, but we need to have a little chat before you shuffle off your immortal coil."

Klaus continued to look ahead and thought of his Caroline as he gained the courage to speak the truth to Mikael, "Any words we have for each other have been spoken long ago. But, know this - I am no longer the animal begging for scraps of your affection. I will die knowing my hatred for you was just. I will fall proud of all I have achieved here. So, Mikael, if you're going to kill me, then get on with it."

Mikael shook his head, "Au contraire, Niklaus. Some things remain unsaid. For instance, you were right to be proud of your achievement here. As I walked the streets, your name was spoken of in reverent tones by the city's finest. So, after I kill you, I will remain here in New Orleans until every last person who remembers you is dead. The deeds of the mighty Klaus will be remembered by no one And you, boy, will simply never have existed." Mikael noticed that the orchestra had began to warm up in front of the stage, "Ah. The grand show." He relaxed, and pulled the stake away from Klaus as the lights went down. He leant forward and tapped Klaus on the shoulder, "Oh, I made some alterations in your honor. You'll love it. How is Caroline by the way?" He laughed as Klaus tensed to attack him but he only pushed the stake against his back again, only deeper this time.

The conductor tapped his baton against the stand and the show begun. The curtain went up to reveal Marcel staked in the hands on a wooden cross. He is barely conscious. A blonde woman whom had similar looks to Caroline was dead and propped up on a swing, her mouth taped shut, and a stake impaled through her chest. The audience laughed and applauded, Mikael having compelled the audience to watch it all, and to applaud as if it were the drollest of comedies, and then to leave celebrating a terrific night at the opera.

What happened next was a blur to Klaus, he took Mikael by surprise and leapt out of the box as he sped to the stage. He tried to pull the stakes from Marcel's hands but Mikael stopped him.

Rebekah ran on to the stage and attempted to intervene. The crowd applauded as Mikael pushed Rebekah to the ground and staked her with a normal stake through her stomach.

Klaus tried to attack again but Mikael threw him across the stage. The audience continued to applaud.

Elijah appeared and turned to Klaus as he tried to rescue Marcel. He shook his head, there was no helping Marcel. They had to leave now if they had any chance of escape, "We must run."

Klaus scooped up Rebekah in his arms, and they ran, fleeing for their lives as Mikael burnt all they'd built to the ground.

Mikael begun to feed off of Marcel, savagely ripping into his neck as he drained him of life. Afterward, he grabbed a lantern from the stage and he walked up toward the exit past the audience, all of whom had been compelled to sit still and not leave. Mikael smashed the lantern onto the ground, causing the floor to catch fire, which quickly spread throughout the opera house.

Elijah and Klaus were trying to flee from Mikael with an unconscious Rebekah. However, Mikael is stalking behind them and getting closer and closer to where they have stopped.

Mikael yelled out dramatically, "The final act of Le Grand Guignol is upon us! Where are my players? Enough running, children! Step out of the shadows so we can finish this tale of sorrows." He walked down the street with the white oak stake in hand.

Just ahead, Klaus carried Rebekah in his arms. She is still unconscious as Elijah hurried beside him down the dark street.

Elijah continued to look behind him, his voice full of fear, "He's coming." He stepped up onto the sidewalk and grabbed a metal stake from someone's fence.

Klaus set Rebekah down on the street, "All right." He bit into his wrist and fed Rebekah his blood to awaken her, "Come on, sister."

As Rebekah came around she whispered, "Marcel."

Elijah replied sorrowfully, "He's gone, sister."

Rebekah looked behind them to see that the Opera House was in flames. In the distance, screams were heard from the audience members who were trapped inside by Mikael's compulsion, who are slowly burning to death. She began to cry, "No. No."

"Both of you must flee the city. I'll hold him off, Niklaus." Elijah ordered, holding his makeshift weapon in his hand.

Klaus pulled Rebekah to her feet, and shook his head at Elijah, "No. We fight him together."

Elijah disagreed, "We cannot fight him. All we can do is do what we've done. We deceive him. We lead him astray. Now, I can do that as well as anyone. You take her far away from here. I'll follow you."

"No, Elijah. You can't. You can't, Elijah." Rebekah cried, almost falling under the weight of the guilt she felt, "This is just - this is my fault."

Klaus shook his head, his eyes full of sorrow, "No. This is my fault, Rebekah. I am so sorry. I'm sorry. Marcel-"

Suddenly, the opera house explodes behind them, and all three turn to look while nearby a fire truck's siren blares.

"Niklaus, please." Elijah begged Klaus to just for once follow his orders, "Sister, come." He hugged Rebekah and kissed her cheek softly, "You must leave. Go."

Klaus stared at Elijah as a single tear fell from his face.

"Leave!" Elijah screamed, needing his brother and sister to be gone and safe from Mikael's wrath.

Klaus reluctantly obeyed Elijah's orders and disappeared with Rebekah into the night.

Elijah stood tall as he awaited Mikael. He loved his family with all of his heart and he would protect them until his dying breath, even if that day happened to be tonight.

AN - "Oh my god! Just end already!" - me, about 3000 words ago ;)

Who would have thought that there was so much that happened within 500 years? Well, technically 400 as I had to leave it there as the next 'event' will need to be long to include a plot piece as well as what actually happened.

I hope you all enjoyed it, in the second half I used a lot of dialogue from TVD and TO, with a few tweaks and embellishments here and there. Next chapter will be one certain period of time before covering TVD Season 1-5. Until next tim
