Alright, here's the deal. I know no one likes to wait for a chapter, but it's hard for me. Try juggling church, school (honors classes, remember), sleep (yes, I still have a bedtime. Blame the parents ;)), and anything else that takes up time in my life. So there. Sorry. I can only say it so many chapters.
Um, since this is my first story, when I started it, I didn't want to try any romance, although this is a vaguely Sonamy story. But now, it just seemed to fit in perfectly, so this chapter has some romance. And, for all you Knuxouge fans, I'm sorry. I totally like Knuxouge better myself, but Shadouge just fits a lot better right now. I bring her back in this chapter, and this time she's staying in. I promise.
Now, for all you people who probably don't like me very much anymore, there is a lot of Sonamy in here. It's really abrupt, and maybe too much so, but I just really wanted to try putting in some romance. Do me a favor, all you readers, and update. Tell me what you thought, how I did, and if you want more.

Chapter 16
"I'M GONNA KILL HIM! I'M GONNA MAKE HIM PAY! I'M GONNA SNAP HIS FAT NECK LIKE A TOOTHPICK!
"Shadow, please calm down! Don't destroy everything!" Tails cried worriedly. Shadow was currently in the process of obliterating the TV, a chair, and anything else he laid his eyes on. Sonic and Knukcles were trying to restrain him, but it wasn't doing much with the black hedgehog on such a mad rage.
Then Amy stepped in front of the struggling Mobian, hammer in hand, and whacked him on the head.
Shadow fell back, stunned, eyes wide, and just sat on the floor for a couple seconds. Finally he blinked, and looked around with a surprised look on his face.
"Ah, jeez," he muttered. "Did I really do this?" He didn't sound so much worried as plainly surprised, like he couldn't believe he went crazy for a moment.
Sonic put a hand on the dark hedgehog's shoulder. "Yeeeaaah..." Then he smirked. "You beat me to it! The TV was supposed to be mine!" He laughed.
Tails rolled his eyes. "Whatever, guys. Listen, I know we don't have a lot of time. About 3 hours, maybe 30 minutes for each chaos emerald and a full hour for the Master Emerald.
Shadow got to his feet, looking serious again. "I can contact Rouge at G.U.N. and get her down here in 20 minutes."
Tails nodded. "Sounds good. And tell her to bring some heavy firepower." Shadow grinned at that.
It didn't take long for the bat to reach the house. She was streaking towards them at full speed, for once looking worried.
"Hey," she said as she landed.
"Hey," Shadow replied. "Thanks for getting here so fast."
"Yeah, I saw Eggman on TV. I heard what he said, and I figured you would call soon."
"Boy, am I glad your here!" Sonic said happily. "Your one of the only ones I know that can control Shads."
"What do you mean?" Rouge asked.
Shadow blushed a little bit. It was a strange sight. He was gonna answer, but Knuckles beat him to it. "Shaddy here through a bit of a temper tantrum and partially destroyed Sonic and Tails' house.
"Really?" She ran inside, the others following at a slower place. The bat took in the wreckage slowly. She turned to Shadow. "Dang, Shadow. I knew you'd be pissed at Eggman, but not this much. I mean, all we have to do is get another emerald, or fix the dark blue one."
"That's not all Eggman did when he drained my chaos emerald. Whenever he finishes with an emerald, me and Sonic... feel it."
Rouge smiled cautiously. "So?"
Sonic answered in an exasperated tone. "So, it hurts! Like, a lot! Like, us on the ground, clutching our heads in pain!"
Rouge paled. "Oh."
Amy held up her hand a little bit. "Ummm, how long has it been since the last emerald was drained?"
Rouge glanced at her watch/communicator. "About 25 minutes, maybe 30. Why?"
"Oh, crap," Sonic and Shadow said at the same time. They shared a glance, and then visibly braced themselves. They stayed that way for a bit, and then stopped.
Tails sighed in relief. "Maybe my estimate was off."
"What estimate? For what?" Rouge demanded.
"I made a guess about how long each emerald would take to be drained. I said about 30 minutes, but maybe it's longer."
"Hopefully," Sonic stated.
So, of course, when everything is calm, Sonic and Shadow both tense, like they were about to be attacked. Then they fell, groaning, teeth clenched, eyes squeezed shut, hands holding their heads. Just like Sonic said.
Rouge actually gasped at the sight. The two strongest people she knew, on the ground, reduced to immense pain by the one they all hated the most. She crouched beside the hedgehogs, and tried to shake them out of it. Amy joined her and knelt down next to Sonic. She pulled his head into her lap, and Rouge did the same with Shadow. They both stayed in that position for a few seconds, when Shadow slowly brought his hands from his head. He opened his eyes, and gazed at Rouge leaning over him.
"What are you doing, Rouge?" the black hedgehog wondered out loud. Rouge blushed. Then she glanced to her right. Shadow followed her gaze.
He looked up at Amy next to him, and then down to the blue blur in her lap, who looked like he was still in pain. The cobalt Mobian was muttering something, but his friends were unable to catch the words. A few seconds later, Sonic's emerald eyes showed themselves from behind their lids. He blinked a couple times, then saw Amy staring down at him worriedly. He glanced around at the others, and saw them kneeling around him, eyebrows creased with concern.
Catching up with his normal personality, Sonic looked at the group with a strange look that spoke for itself. It said, 'what are you all looking at me for?'
Then he smirked at Rouge and Shadow's current position. "That's cute, Shads."
The bat's and the hedgehog's eyes met for a second. Then Shadow pushed himself up and away from the flyer, both blushing a deeper shape of red than Knuckles fur.
"Alright, enough of this," the momentarily red hedgehog murmured. "We've got work to do." He stood up and walked inside, grabbing Tails' and Knuckles' arms along the way. Rouge got to her feet and followed the three in the house, but not before giving Sonic a look that clearly said, 'talk to her.' 'Her' obviously being Amy, who was still holding Sonic. He didn't move, except for a tiny, almost imperceptible nod. Then, he sat up, an turned to face the pink hedgehog.
"Amy, look... I'm not... I don't know how to say this... so I'm just gonna say it," Sonic began. "Ames, I have feelings for you."
Said girl smiled really big. "Me too, Sonic."
"I know you do. And I just wanted to tell you, well, for starters, I'm really glad you are not still obsessing over me." A little smile appeared on his face.
Amy gave a cute laugh. "I know. I was younger then. And maybe slightly crazy."
"Yeah." Sonic swallowed the lump in his throat. Just say it. Just tell her, and don't worry about her reaction. She needs to know.
"The truth is, I really like you, Ames. Your an awesome girl, and I love your personality. Whenever I'm in a bad spot, you help me through it. When no one else thinks we can win, you open your mouth and lift everyone's spirits just like that." He snapped his fingers to emphasize his point. Deep breath, then he continued. "And I, for one, know how much that can change a situation. Turn the tide. Help good come out on top." Another pause. "Look, there's something I want to ask you."
"Yeah?" Amy asked quietly.
"When your near me, I feel better. Stronger. And I want that all the time. I want you all the time."
"Yeah?"
Sonic took another deep breath. "Ames, will you be my girlfriend?"
Amy looked a little stunned for a moment. Then she laughed in delight. She threw her pink arms around the blue hedgehog's neck, squealing, "Yes! Yes!"
Sonic pushed her back a bit, and stared into her bright jade eyes. He pretended to breathe a sigh of relief, and wiped the imaginary sweat drop from his brow. Finally, he pulled Amy back to him, and kissed her.
The pink hedgehog's eyes got wide, and then closed in pleasure.
At that moment, Tails walked out to see what the commotion was about. He stared, speechless, at the sight before him.
"Tails?" Knuckles called. "What's going on out there?"
Tails was still incapable of answering. Inside the house, the others were growing slightly worried that something had happened to Sonic and Amy in the few minutes outside. They all rushed to the doorway and stood behind Tails, questions rising in their throats, but held back with their surprise.
Sonic finally broke away from the kiss. He didn't even spare a glance at his friends. He just gazed at Amy, and she gazed back in happiness. Then she leaned forward, and whispered in her now-boyfriend's ear. "Let's get out of here."
The cobalt hedgehog grinned even bigger. "Okay then." He stood up, lifted Amy bridal-style into his arms, and took off.
The boys in the doorway gaped as the pair disappeared from sight, but Rouge just smirked, thinking, good job, Sonic. You did it.
