Chapter 3

Have you ever felt like your whole life is falling apart because you've found out that everything you'd heard from a parent has been not entirely truthfull? That's what Rick is feeling right now as his father told him about what had actually happened between Ridge and Brooke during their entire so called love affair. 'So what you mean to tell me is that mother has inserted herself in many of Ridges marriages believing that there was no possible way that he could've loved his wife more than her and this has ended in her being hurt and me and Bridget having to take care of her?'

'Yes, unfortunatly that's what I'm saying. I remember talking to Ridge before his wedding to Brooke back when Taylor was pregnant with Thomas and all Ridge could talk about was how he couldn't believe that Taylor had betrayed him like that, sleeping with Thorne and creating a child with him and that the child should've been his and I must say that the truth coming out after Thomas was born was the best thing that could've happened. Ridge didn't really want to be with your mother at the time, he wanted Taylor, but your mother had lied to him about her pregnancy and Ridge had decided that since Taylor was carrying another mans baby and was supposedly in love and commited to this man, there was only two choices, be with your mother and his child or be alone. He chose to be with your mother and his child, but as you know your mother 'lost' the child because as she wasn't really pregnant, there was no baby on the way and she wouldn't be showing and in nine months there wouldn't be a child.'

'What about when she married Thorne? Why did that end?' Rick asked. 'Well, she married Thorne because she couldn't have Ridge and they ended because Thorne heard Brooke talking to Deacon about how the first thing she wakes up and the last thing before going to bed is thoughts of Ridge and Thorne didn't think that a marriage should be like that and because of how they started Thorne was appalled and couldn't believe he had fallen for Brooke's lies. And those lies just escaladed and eventually exploded during her conversation with Deacon and it lead to Brooke feeling all alone and this lead to Brooke having that affair with Deacon creating Hope, which in turn devastated Bridget to the point where she actually left the country to go to medschool and then it happened all over again with Nick, the fact that Brooke could even think it would be okey to lean on Nick after Ridge left her for Taylor is confusing to me. She knew exactly what Bridget had gone through when Brookes affair with Deacon happened and then when her marriage to Nick ended, Brooke told Bridget that she knew that that is what would happen, I'd like to ask myself why she even thought it was an idea to even try with Nick if she knew it wouldn't last. Also, you were there when Bridget stood up for Brooke and Nick on their weddingday. Couldn't you see how much it hurt Bridget to be there?' 'I'm sad to say that all I could see was that my mother was happy and that she wasn't with Ridge, everything else just fell on the way side. Had I known everything that really happened, I wouldn't have pursued Phoebe the way I did, because I would've known that Ridge wasn't the one who was creating the misery my mother was going through.' Rick answered. Eric then said 'Yes, I know that Ridge left Brooke many times, but contrary to what she's been telling you and Bridget, it was because of her lies and manipulations that came out, unfortunatly she doesn't seem to see that her actions and lies have concequences. Did you know most of her relationships have started with the man in a relationship, be it married or not married, with another woman? Ridge was involved ith Caroline, Ashley or Taylor, I was involved with both Stephanie and Beth at a later point I was involved with Jackie, Thorne was with Macy, Deacon was with Bridget and Nick was with Bridget and Taylor. Brooke has this knack for getting involved with men who are with other women and then believing that when it ends, it's not her fault. She only sees her needs and wants. She even married Grant to make Ridge jealous. I have this feeling that everything Brooke has ever done is to make Ridge jealous.'

When Rick left his fathers house that afternoon, he felt completely numb, like his world was shattered. Having found out about the truth about all the events that had happened in his life weren't the way that his mother had told them to him made him want to apologize to a whole lot of people. The first person he went to see was Ridge, he needed to make sure Ridge knew that he was sorry for the way he had been acting in regards to the hostility he had felt towards Ridge was because of the stories his mother had been feeding him. His talk with Ridge went very well, since Ridge had known that Brooke had been sugarcoating the events to her benefits but had felt like it wasn't his place to tell Rick about it, he added the fact that Brooke had almost closed Eric off as Rick and Bridget's father because she wanted Ridge so much, that she believed that Ridge was supposed to be their father and that Eric was just the spermdonor. As he left Ridges office he felt like his whole life had been a lie and his beliefs were shattered.

He went to Taylor's beach house to visit his sister and her boyfriend to tell her that he was sorry that he hadn't thought about what Brooke's affair with Deacon and her marriage to Nick had been affecting Bridget. To this Bridget said that she accepted his apology and that they were okej. Rick then said that Bridget had his full support in both her research and her relationship with Zach and that he would go to extreme measures to make sure that nothing ended them unless they ended them them self if he had to, Brooke however wouldn't. This relationship would last and Bridget's happiness was most important to him, his sister had been hurt by their mother so many times before that she didn't need to worry about their mother and her needs anymore.

As he was walking by a restaurant he noticed Thomas and Abby sitting and having lunch and he walked over there and asked to talk to them. Both Thomas and Abby said that he could join them for lunch because they saw that he was pretty emotionally drained and they figured he needed to talk to someone. As he sat down and they told him to talk to them, he started to break down and told them everything that had happened earlier in the day and that he now realized that his behavior especially towards Ridge and his kids had been wrong and that he was going to start treating them as they actually deserved and not as he had believed based on his mothers stories. That he now knew that his mothers heartaches weren't due to Ridges treatment of her but because of her own behavior and that he realized that what Taylor and Stephanie had been saying for years actually had some merit to it. He also apologized to Thomas for putting himself in between Thomas and Caitlin before Taylor returned. When Rick had talked himself all out, he offered his best wishes for their future and that he hoped it was magnificent. Abby and Thomas wished Rick well and that he too would find what they had someday.

His apologies to Phoebe, Steffy, Taylor and Nick all went over really well and he finally feels like he's got something going for him again and that he feels like a whole person again. He also realized now that his mothers happiness wasn't his responsibility and that she needed to feel everything to make her accept that her actions have consequences, just like everyone else does. That no one is entitled to things just because they feel like they are. He felt like he had just learned the lesson of his life.

AN: This part of the chapter needed to happen because I know that Rick isn't really the person we've seen on the show lately and mainly he is the way he is because of what he's been told by his mother in regards to her getting left by Ridge and Thorne and many of the other men in her life and also get some insight as to who his mother really is. This is his redemption! I have a woman in mind for Rick and it is not someone he's been with before or currently on the show. She's based on two of my other favorite characters on tv of all times. Also, KLs Rick is the one who'll be in this fic, none of the other versions of Rick. It'll be a while though, Rick has some drama coming involving a future couple in this fic.

There are very few things that has ever surprised Taylor Marone, the fact that Kimberly Fairchild was gay wasn't really one of them, the fact that she needed help to tell her father and aunt Sally was one. After Taylor had talked to Sally on the phone to tell her to come see her at her practice and to bring Adam, there was a few question marks in Sally's head. 'Hello Taylor, how come we're here to see you?' Sally said. 'Well, I've got something to tell you' Kimberly started. Sally then asked 'Is this about you finding out you're a lesbian?' Kimberly stared at Sally surprised and then said 'You know?', Of course we do Sweetie, I think I've always had this idea that you might be since you dated Rick, but I've known for sure since you got back from visiting your friends in North Carolina. I figured something happened back there that caused you to evaluate yourself and your sexuality and it made you realize you were gay.' 'Yes, I met the woman who taught me everything I know about who I am and what I am. I felt like this was going to be so difficult to talk to you about. I've been putting it off for months now.' Kimberly said. 'Well, you didn't need to worry so much Sweetie, I've always been a free spirit and I know that you cannot help who you love, you can just help what you do with those feelings.' Sally said. Taylor then stated to Kimberly 'I need to talk to you about something that I noticed when you came to the Forrester familydinner and I think I need to do this in private so if I could borrow you before you leave I'd really like it.' 'I think I can take this discussion without you now Taylor so we'll leave now and I'll stay for a minute and then we'll talk more about this at home over dinner.'

Taylor waited for Adam and Sally to leave before she said 'You know, I noticed to looks you and my daughter were giving each other at the dinner and I wanted to caution you that she doesn't have any experience, nor does she know where she's at emotionally since her and Rick broke up so if you feel for her the way I think you do, do not pursue her, let her take her time to realize what it is she wants and let it all unfold the way it should. I do believe that you'd make a great couple, but let her needs come before yours and let things take the time it needs! If she comes to the same conclusion that I have and your relationship develops into something very serious, we'd be happy to welcome you into the family and I believe that we will.' At this Kimberly was very moved and deeply touched at Taylor's immediate acceptance of Kimberly's potential feelings and she understood her cautions for Phoebe's sake.

As Kimberly was leaving to go home to Sally's, she met Rick Forrester who was very happy so see her. 'Hi Kimberly! How are you?' 'Well, I'm good, I've just told Sally and my father about something that I have been having a hard time telling them, although I now know that I really didn't need to worry about. How about you?' 'Well, I've been better, but I think I'm starting to get past what I found out yesterday.' Rick stated. 'Yeah, I heard about that, have you talked to Brooke yet?' 'No, I haven't, I feel like I'm not ready yet. Anyway, enough about that. I was wondering if maybe I could ask you out on a date?' 'Rick, I'm gay, I'm sorry, but I can't go out with you. I found the one I think I'm supposed to be with too. But we'll see, she's got to figure out what she's feeling first though. It's what I needed to talk to Sally and my father about, it's also what I needed to discuss with Taylor.' 'But you tried so hard to get me to leave Amber.' 'Yeah, but that was before I met Katie(think Bevin in One Tree Hill). She's the one who made me realize that what I was feeling for you weren't at all what I thought it was.' 'And you're absolutely sure about this? There is no way for us to be together?' Rick asked. 'Yeah, I'm sure, there's nothing you can do about it. Anyway, I've got to go to Aunt Sally's, we've got some things to discuss. I hope you find the one, Rick!'

As Kimberly was leaving, Rick thought to himself, Well, she might think that there's nothing I can do, but I think there is. Drama was about to start and only when Rick finds out who Kimberly's 'The one' might be will he back off. Or will he? Only the arrival of ****** will make him realize that there isn't a chance for him and Kimberly and that his the one is coming.

A while later Rick was walking up towards his mothers house to ask her to tell him the entire truth about her and Ridge and the messed up situation that she called their love affair. He rang the doorbell and waited for his mother to answer. 'Rick, Hi. Since when do you use the doorbell?' Well I thought I should start now since I don't think that I know you anymore mother.' 'Wait, what do you mean?' 'Was Eric going to start dating your mother after he and Stephanie divorced the first time? Were Caroline and Ridge engaged when you 'fell' for him? Were you really pregnant when you married Ridge the day Thomas was born? Did you really have to sleep with Deacon while he was married to your DAUGHTER, not just once but many times?' Brooke looked at Rick really shocked and then she answered. ' Yes, but then I got pregnant. They weren't, but I did practically everything in my powers to stop them from getting married because Ridge belongs with me, which is also the reason why I told Ridge I was pregnant when I wasn't. Well, what was I supposed to do? He told me he and Bridget were getting a divorce and I was lonely because Ridge wouldn't leave Taylor for me and then it just happened.'

'Mother, you cannot seriously stand there and tell me you didn't have a choice but to sleep with your daughters HUSBAND because the man you thought you should be with wouldn't leave his wife for you. Are you crazy? Did you even think about what it would do to Bridget? I cannot believe you would do that and I have been defending you to Stephanie and Taylor for years! How can you even think about doing something like that. And not just to your daughter, but to your mother too! And then do it to your daughter AGAIN, ask that she stands up for you and the guy on your wedding day and then when the marriage falls through tell your daughter that you knew it was going to happen like that any way? Why not just stay away from the guy in the first place, he was engaged to your daughter and your daughter was pregnant with his child. You seriously need to stop putting your needs first and start to think about other peoples needs, you're not the only one who has needs you know! I should've been there for Bridget more than I was and just let you live your life the way you wanted to 'cause in Brooke's world, nobody else matters.' Then he walked out the door leaving Brooke to think about what he had said. But knowing Brooke, we all know she'd never change for anyone.

AN2: As you all might have guessed, Ridley will not last for long, even I can't have the father and son be with the mother and daughter respectively at the same time for long, but Ridge does have a relationship coming in the future too!
