A/N Sorry for not updating, I seem to be writing that a lot.

I'll just get on with it.

Chapter 6

Ash took a deep breathe in, he was about to walk out onto a field in the middle of Kalos, against one of the home favourites, and he was going to win. He took one step, then another, and then another. With each step the sound of the crowd got closer. He knew that Nita would already be there. As he stepped out into the stadium he got a mixed reception. As expected, a lot of the crowd didn't really know who he was.

The people who did gave him a warm enough reception though. He gave Rita a smile from across the field as she said, "I've heard a lot about you, I hope you're not all hype."

Ash's smile widened, "I would hate to disappoint you." He replied.

The two of them stepped into the trainer boxes.

"The green trainer shall release their Pokémon first," the ref declared.

Rita bowed and threw out her Pokéball, "Go Wigglytuff."

"Come on out Infernape." Ash commanded.

Infernape stared down the pink rabbit and smiled gesturing for her to attack.

"Wigglytuff use rollout."

Ash smiled, "Infernape stop it with karate chop."

The ball of rock shooting towards Infernape was stopped dead and thrown backwards and landed in a heap.

"Infernape use close combat." The fire monkey shot forward and unleashed a devastating barrage on the other Pokémon. When it ended the crowd watched with bated breath.

"Wigglytuff is unable to battle, Infernape is the winner."

The crowd was dead silent, no-one had expected this.

Rita broke the silence returning her Pokémon and yelling out, "Go Grumpig."

Ash looked at Infernape he was fine to continue but he would not underestimate Rita despite an easy first win.

"Grumpig use zen headbutt."

"Infernape meet it with a punishment." The two attacks met and a blast of energy threw them both back. Infernape flipped onto his feet and Grumpig landed hard.

"Grumpig get up and use psychic"

The pig jumped to its feet and tried to restrain Infernape. Infernape dived underground with dig without a command. Grumpig looked nervously around. "Infernape flare blitz."

At first nothing happened, and then the stadium started to heat up. Grumpig started hopping from foot to foot. As it landed once more a mass of fire hit it throwing it to the floor knocked out.

There was once again silence in the audience. Infernape was still bouncing from foot to foot. Although it may look like he was fine Ash could tell he was tiring a bit. Ash could see Nita grit her teeth from across the field. She reached down to her belt and then stopped her hand an inch from the last Pokéball.

Her expression changed to one of determination and she reached behind her to another Pokéball. "Come on out Landorus,"

Much to her disappointment Ash's expression of happiness only intensified.

"We may have a worthy battler for him." Ash murmured to himself.

He looked at Infernape who was still bouncing up and down unfazed. "Infernape return. You've done great buddy."

"Come on out Charizard."

Ash's Pokéball released a huge lizard. He roared once and Landorus fell back in shock from the intensity of the roar.

Serena in the crowd watched in shock as Charizard watched, there was screaming from around her and Tierno even fell off his seat.

She couldn't believe the power of this Pokémon. Infernape was amazing but she couldn't wait to see Charizard battle.

Lance, shook his head in shock. He was not expecting this from Ash.

He knew first-hand how powerful Ash could be but this caught him off guard. Pikachu was incredibly powerful he knew, even a match for any of his Pokémon. But this Charizard looked to be at almost the level of his Dragonite, and Lance didn't like that one bit.

Ash smirked as he saw Charizard close his jaw. He turned to Ash and gave him a clawed thumbs up. He was loving every minute of this. It had been way too long since he had battled properly.

Rita had finally recovered and looked at Charizard with interest.

"Landorus lets test it with an earthquake."

Charizard watched as Landorus caused a tremor that raced towards him. He stood their taking the attack, testing the strength of his opponent.

As it stopped Charizard gave a snort of derision. This Pokémon was not powerful enough. He turned his back to it.

Ash smiled at Charizard's assessment. He knew that Charizard was baiting the response from Landorus. He had moved past his phase of refusing a fight because his opponent did not give a challenge.

As expected Landorus roared in anger and ignoring Rita's protests fired off a stone edge and then charged at Charizard.

Charizard took the stone edge extending his wings. He turned shrugging of the four times super effective attack from a legendary.

He caught the outrage and stopped it dead. He then opened his jaw and without a command unleashed a blast burn.

There was a huge explosion. And smoke and dust billowed up all over the field obscuring the two Pokémon from view.

When then smoke eventually cleared Charizard was left standing there unscathed with his clawed foot on the legendary Pokémon.

The crowd was silent for a second; the silence was broken by a triumphant roar from Charizard. This prompted the crowd to start cheering for the pair of them.

Ash walked over to Charizard, he patted him on the shoulder and said, "Thanks buddy, you were awesome."

Rita broke out of her shock and withdrew her ace legendary Pokémon. She had battle everyone there was to battle in Kalos and never had she been beaten quite so completely. She even resorted to her legendary and that was beaten just as easily.

She looked at Ash as he congratulated his Pokémon, that kid was something else entirely.

She walked over to Ash expecting a gloating comment or two from the victorious trainer. Instead Ash said, "Thanks for the battle, Charizard and Infernape rarely get to stretch like that."

Rita looked for any arrogance in the comment but Ash meant it honestly. "Thank you Ash, you have shown me just how far I am from being one of the best trainers as I thought I was."

Ash gave her a smile, "Don't worry these were two of my strongest, you would be able to beat many of my Pokémon another day."

"I may just hold you to that eventually Ash."

Ash flopped out onto his bed. He was tired and had just managed to escape a couple of hundred reporters trying to interview him. He heard the door to the flat that he, Serena, Tierno and Trevor had rented for the tournament fly open.

He turned slowly to see an excited Tierno and Trevor burst through the door to his bedroom.

"Hey guys."

Pikachu rose up from his position on the chair by Ash's bed and scampered out of the room away from the excited trainers.

Momentarily nothing was said, and then Tierno yelled, "That was amazing."

Ash sighed, Trevor than started firing rapid fire questions at the knackered trainer.

He was stopped by a hand clamping on his mouth. He turned to see Serena who glared at him and said, "Let Ash get some sleep. Then you can ask him some questions." Trevor nodded quickly and backed out of the room, Serena gave Tierno a glare and he shuffled out too.

"Sorry about them Ash, they are excited to have someone as powerful as you with them." She paused, "They are right though, you were pretty amazing." And with that she walked out.

A/N, there it is, chapter 6. I enjoyed writing this one a lot. Unfortunately I had to do it in multiple small sessions so if it's a bit disjointed that is why.

I will try to do the next chapter soon but we'll see how that goes.
