A/N So I haven't updated for ages….

Sorry about that. I just haven't felt like writing and if I don't then I write badly.

I'll try to update more regularly but I can't promise anything.

Chapter 8

Ash was nervous. He had watched Cynthia's demolition of Lucian in the previous round. She had only used her mega Garchomp, Lucian had tried everything and by the end of the battle he was looking completely beaten. He had no chance and he had known it.

Ash was sat in the trainer waiting room of the main arena about five hours early sitting on his own.

There were not many trainers that Ash knew he would have a huge challenge to defeat; Cynthia was not one of those. He was not even sure if he could knock out one of her megas. He put his head in his hands and rubbed his eyes. Pikachu jumped up onto his shoulder from where he was sat on the floor.

"Pika?" Pikachu said questioningly.

Ash looked up at his first Pokémon and smiled, "I'm not sure if we can do this, I'm not sure if we have any chance at all. But I'm not gonna let Cynthia into the final easily." Pikachu broke into a wide smile. This was going to be one hell of a match.

Line break

Ash walked out quickly onto the field. There was a small cheer but most people in the crowd were looking at where Cynthia would emerge from.

He looked around at the people in the crowd. He recognised barely any of them. As he looked towards where he knew his friends were he was met with smiles from the four of them. He gave them a nod causing them to smile.

He looked up into the VIP box. He saw Steven, Lance and Lucian all looking down towards him.

The two champions had just finished their match and Lance was victorious. It was an epic fight coming down to Metagross against Dragonite.

Lucian gave Ash a smile, while Lance and Steven both gave him a quick wave. Ash raised a hand in acknowledgement.

Suddenly the crowd started to scream and shout. Ash looked down to the opposing side to see Cynthia walking towards him with Garchomp next to her.

Ash glanced and Pikachu and smiled quickly, he then walked out towards Cynthia in the centre of the battlefield.

As the two of them met the crowd silenced straining to hear what was said between the two trainers.

Cynthia flashed Ash a smile and said, "I've been wanting to battle you for a long while, I'm glad I now have that chance."

Ash smiled back, "When we met I told you to get ready for when I take your championship, you better be ready as that is going to be now."

Cynthia laughed, "You better live up to that challenge." Garchomp glared at Ash and tried to frighten him by swing a fin at Ash, who in turn ducked and kicked Garchomp back. When the land shark Pokémon had got up thoroughly shocked Ash had returned to his side of the battlefield.

A referee stepped up towards the field, he turned to Cynthia and said, "Can the green trainer please release their Pokémon first."

Cynthia wasted no time and shouted, "Milotic battle stance."

Ash turned up to Pikachu and said, "You're up buddy."

Pikachu dashed forward, he stopped not far from the serpent Pokémon cheeks sparking.

The referee looked at the two trainers and brought down two flags, "Begin."

"Milotic use water pulse." Cynthia started.

"Pikachu electro ball."

The two balls met in an explosion both sides trying to gauge the others power.

"Pikachu use extreme speed."

"Milotic dodge then use brine."

As Pikachu shot towards Milotic the serpent Pokémon moved just slightly.

"Pikachu thunder."

Pikachu changed tactics and Milotic was caught from close by the thunder.

"Milotic use aqua ring." As Milotic retreated back a blue ring of water appeared round it.

"Pikachu use iron tail."

"Milotic meet it with Bulldoze." The two attacks met and after a brief struggle Pikachu was sent flying backwards.

Pikachu landed and sprung back up, "Use thunderbolt."

The bolt of electricity was shot towards Milotic.

"Use protect." As a green barrier was brought up to deflect the lightning Cynthia called out again, "Use mud sport."

Milotic shot mud all over the field some of it covering Pikachu.

"Pikachu use volt tackle." As Pikachu ran forward Ash knew what the attack had done. The speed was there but Pikachu could not conjure up enough electricity.

"Pikachu use iron tail." Pikachu stopped the charge and leapt into the air.

"Milotic hydro pump."

As Pikachu flew down at Milotic he was hit by a burst of water.

He flew backwards into a wall landing badly.

As he was slowly getting back up Cynthia called out again. "Milotic use bulldoze."

"Pikachu use extreme speed to get out of there."

A second before being hit by the super effective attack Pikachu vanished and reappeared behind Milotic. "Use agility."

The already fast Pikachu burst into several copies as it was moving so fast. "Now use iron tail." Pikachu shot towards Milotic like a bullet.

"Use protect."

"Now Pikachu."

Pikachu continued on his cause and a huge explosion was formed.

When the smoke cleared Milotic and Pikachu were both on the floor with a crater where Pikachu had his it. Milotic's shield was still up but it could not protect it against the makeshift earthquake.

After a few seconds both Pokémon started to rise.

"Milotic use aqua tail."

"Pikachu take it."

Cynthia looked at Ash in shock, the young trainer however was only looking at his Pokémon with a grimace. As the move hit Pikachu, the small Pokémon clung on and then unleashed a huge electrical charge.

The two Pokémon then both collapsed to the ground once again. The referee looked at the two Pokémon and raised both hands, "Both Pokémon are…." Midway through the sentence Pikachu let out a groan and slowly rose to his feet. "Milotic is unable to battle Pikachu is the winner."

Cynthia gave a small smile. She had expected Ash to be good but had come into this battle completely sure of not losing a single Pokémon.

The crowd was similarly in shock. This was until there was a cheer from somewhere towards the VIP box and the crowd started to applaud.

"What a surprise folks." The commentator said, "Ash Ketchum has taken a lead in this match against the Sinnoh champion Cynthia."

Ash walked over to Pikachu who was swaying slightly from side to side. Ash took him up into his arms and said, "Great job out there pal. I think your battling is over for today."

Pikachu looked up at Ash and gave him a thumbs up.

"Could the green trainer release her next Pokémon?" the referee asked.

"Lucario come on out and mega evolve." Cynthia shouted, there was a burst of light and a Lucario landed on the ground and was immediately enveloped by light. When the light faded a Mega Lucario was standing there staring straight at Ash.

Ash gave a smirk and pulled out his second Pokéball. "I have just the Pokémon, come on out Sceptile."

"Lucario start this with an aura sphere."

"Sceptile quick attack to dodge, then close in and leaf blade."

Sceptile vanished in a blur and appeared in front of Lucario blades glowing.

"Lucario bone rush."

The two attacks collided, the two Pokémon continuing to exchange blow after blow.

"Lucario now use Low sweep." Lucario swept Sceptile to the floor and Sceptile vanished once again in a blur.

He reappeared in front of Ash, "Use brick break."

"Lucario use close combat."

Sceptile shot towards Lucario but was met by a barrage of attacks.

"Sceptile agility."

Sceptile sped up faster and faster trying to dodge the blows. Eventually Lucario hit sending him flying backwards. He landed hard with Lucario shooting through the air towards him.

"Sceptile use grass knot."

Lucario tripped just before Sceptile but still barrelled into the Pokémon.

"Lucario, metal claw."

"Sceptile dual chop."

Lucario was the first to recover sending Sceptile flying back once again.

Sceptile landed on his feet this time, "Now use leaf storm."

Lucario was caught full in the face by a barrage of leaves shooting towards him.

"Now Sceptile use Frenzy plant."

Lucario who was still recovering was slammed into by huge roots as Cynthia looked on gaping.

When the roots disappeared and the dust cleared Sceptile was breathing heavily and looked close to collapsing. Lucario was worse however, he was lying flat on the floor slowly getting up.

"This has been an amazing fight, you're Pokémon have surpassed my expectations by far," Cynthia called out, "But I am not going to let my undefeated Megas lose a battle. Lucario use heal pulse."

Sceptile and Ash looked on unable to stop it as Lucario was enveloped in a pink aura and when it faded looked refreshed.

"Sceptile would have won this match if I hadn't done that. As it is…. I'm sorry Ash. Lucario finish this with extreme speed."

"Sceptile you know…" Ash said sounding defeated.

Just before he was hit Sceptile lit up the stadium blinding Lucario. He then collapsed to the ground out cold.

"Sceptile is unable to battle, the winner is Lucario."

Lucario stood there in the middle of the field blinking hard trying to get his vision back.

"Charizard flamethrower." Ash yelled suprising everyone.

Charizard appeared in the stadium and he doused Lucario in flames. Still unable to see all Lucario could do was try and roll away.

"Lucario come to my voice." Cynthia shouted.

As Lucario returned towards Cynthia Charizard let out a huge roar. He then dived after Lucario.

"Use submission."

Lucario finally gained its vision back to see Charizard right in front of him. As Charizard smashed into him a shockwave was created and Lucario was sent flying back into the wall. He didn't get up.

There was a shocked silence once again in the arena. Charizard had just taken out a Mega evolution in less than a minute.

Cynthia shook her head being the first one to recover. She recalled Lucario and said, "I guess I spoke too soon about not allowing my Megas to be defeated. However I can't allow you into the final. Garchomp come on out."

Her famous Garchomp appeared on the battle field and started glowing immediately. When the light faded Cynthia's second Mega evolution was revealed.

Ash sized up the Pokémon, he remembered how strong it was from before, now it had a mega evolution, it was going to be downright scary.

Charizard however was unfazed. He stared down the land-shark Pokémon.

"Garchomp start this with a dragon pulse."

"Charizard do the same."

The two attacks met in the middle and the appeared to be a stalemate.

"Now use flamethrower."

Once again Charizard countered.

"Earthquake."

Charizard hovered slightly above the ground avoiding the attack. "Now use dragon rush."

Garchomp shot towards the hovering fire type.

"Charizard use Dragon rush too."

The two met in a huge explosion.

"Garchomp use dragon claw."

"Charizard slash"

The two started to exchange blows. "Garchomp use crunch."

As the two clashed together Garchomp bit down on Charizard's shoulder.

"Charizard slam it with Seismic toss."

Charizard wrapped it's arms around Garchomp and the two started to rise. After reaching high enough Charizard stopped keeping them up and they plummeted Garchomp using crunch the whole way.

The two hit the ground at almost terminal velocity. When the dust cleared both Pokémon were facing each other down.

"Garchomp use Rain dance."

Ash realising the danger shouted, "Stop it with sunny day."

As the two weathers collided in the sky Garchomp unleashed a dragon breath at Charizard. The attack hit the unsuspecting Pokémon and it started to rain.

"Garchomp use surf."

Ash's eyes widened at the huge amount of water barrelling towards him. HE grimaced realising how much damage Charizard would take.

"Take down."

Charizard shot through the water and slammed into Garchomp.

The two Pokémon hit the floor. "Garchomp use earthquake."

"Charizard up."

Charizard was hit by the super effective attack just before he left the ground. "Use Mega Punch."

Charizard pulled back his fist and it was met by a brick break.

"Now Garchomp up."

The Pokémon shot into the air. Charizard shot after it, surprising everyone by catching it.

"Aqua tail."

Just as Charizard reached Garchomp's level it was hit by the gravity enforced aqua tail.

He was sent flying towards the floor. "Now use surf again."

Another huge mass of water appeared, strengthened by the rain it crashed down on the fire type.

When the water cleared Charizard was clearly seen standing up.

There were murmurs of surprise from all around to see Charizard still standing.

There was a small silence and then Charizard's eyes lit fire red. "Blaze." Ash said amazed.

Cynthia looked at the fire type worried for the first time in years. This thing was tough and now blaze was there it was do or die for Garchomp.

"Garchomp use Draco meteor."

"Charizard Blast Blitz."

Charizard started a blast burn attack and then released it using the energy to create a Flare blitz. Charizard then moved at a lightning pace towards Garchomp the ground melting as he passed.

He was hit by two meteors before slamming into Garchomp each barely slowing him. There was a huge explosion and when the dust cleared there was a pool of magma where in the middle the two Pokémon were on an island not moving. Garchomp had reverted to non-Mega. Then very slowly Garchomp raised a fin. He then started to get up. However this caused Charizard to also get up, Blaze having faded.

The two Pokémon straightened up and faced each other down once again. Garchomp gave Charizard a nod of respect and then Charizard collapsed.

"Charizard is unable to battle Garchomp is the winner. This means that Cynthia is going to progress into the final."

A/N and done…. Eventually.

I started this in February. I just didn't know how to do justice to the battle. I still don't think that I did.

I'll admit I a bit of a Charizard lover and Ash's Charizard is one of if not my favourite Pokémon in the Animé so forgive me if he's a bit OP.

I did love writing this chapter so you never know. I might actually do another chapter after this. I'm about to go into the easter holidays.
