A/N Hey guys. I'm enjoying this story at the moment so here's the next chapter. I'm not planning on have Clemont traveling with them and this chapter will cover that as to why.

Chapter 10

Serena woke up in the Pokémon centre with Fennekin curled up at the foot of her bed. Next to the Pokémon was a note.

"Serena

I've gone to Professor Sycamore's as Professor Oak asked me to.

I'll probably be back at around ten.

Ash."

Serena looked over to the clock, 9:30, she groaned in annoyance and got up.

By the time Ash arrived back in the Pokémon centre Serena was ready to go.

As they left the Pokémon centre and walked towards the middle of the city Serena asked, "Why did you need to go to the Professor's?"

Ash shrugged, "He wanted me to try this out." He showed her his new Pokédex. It had a new attachment on it. "This is used as a Pokémon transporter. I can use this to get any of my Pokémon on the go. The professor wanted me to try it out."

"Wow, that's pretty nice of him."

"Yeah, I still think he's slightly embarrassed that he lost to me."

Pikachu gave a snort of laughter from his shoulder.

"Wow that's impressive." Ash said as the Prism tower came into full view. He walked up to the and there was a crash from the top floor. A he watched a Pokémon was sent falling to the floor.

"Froakie use your bubbles to cushion it." Ash said releasing said Pokémon.

The Pokémon who happened to be a Wartotle landed softly on the mass of bubbles created by Froakie.

The doors at the bottom of the gym were smashed open and a distraught looking trainer ran out of the gym.

His expression calmed when he saw his Pokémon lying safe on the floor.

"What happened?" Ash asked

After the trainer had calmed down he said, "Thank you so much, the gym leader refuses to battle you unless you have four Kalos gym badges, or you challenge him with water types. He sees them as an inferior type of Pokémon."

Ash thought for a moment and grinned, "What's your name kid?"

"I'm George."

"Well George I'm Ash Ketchum, would you like to watch me get a gym badge?"

The other trainer blinked, "You're Ash Ketchum… but, but you just nearly beat Cynthia." George stuttered.

Ash scratched the back of his head, "Nah, I don't think I would have managed it. But anyway I have a number of water types who'd like to put this gym leader in his place."

"Yeah I'd love to see you battle," George said.

Ash pulled out his Pokédex, and opened the Pokémon transfer section. "Hello Professor."

"Hello Ash, I trust you are well."

"Yeah thanks Professor, could you please send through…."

Ash knocked on the door at the bottom of the gym, "Open up"

Within a minute the doors opened and there was a blond man in a mechanics uniform. "I'm Clemont, why are you here?"

"I'm here for a gym badge."

"How many Kalos gym badges to you have?"

"One."

"Then come back when you are a stronger trainer, I will not lower myself to your level." Clemont said, he then turned to walk away.

"I'll beat you with water types." Ash shouted after him, "Any gym leader too arrogant to accept challenges must be weak, are you afraid of losing to a trainer with one gym badge?" Ash mocked.

Clemont clenched a fist and yelled over his shoulder, "Fine, follow me if you want to be humiliated."

As Ash, followed by Serena and George walked down the entrance corridor after Clemont. A door opened at the other side to reveal a huge battle field. Clemont pressed a button next to the door and a robot appeared to be the referee.

"This will be a four on four battle. Only the challenger is allowed to switch out their Pokémon and the match ends when one side has no Pokémon left. Can the challenger release their Pokémon first."

"Come on out Palpitoad." Ash yelled.

"Magneton lets start this."

Ash smirked; Clemont didn't seem to know Palpitoad's typing.

"Palpitoad use hydro pump."

"Magneton counter it with thunder bolt."

The lightning shot down the burst of water shocking Palpitoad. Magneton was hit by the Hydro pump and was sent flying back.

Clemont looked up expecting to see Palpitoad down.

"Use mud shot."

As Magneton got up without hurry also expecting Palpitoad to be down he was hit by a four times super effective mud shot. He was sent flying back and hit the side of the arena knocked out.

"But how?" Clemont said.

"Palpitoad is part ground type," Ash said smirking. "Your electricity will not harm him."

"Magneton is unable to battle, Palpitoad is the winner."

"Come out Emolga." Clemont commanded.

"Palpitoad return, Crawdaunt come on out." After taking a moment to strategize Ash said, "Crawdaunt use bubble beam."

"Emolga use Acrobatics."

"Crawdaunt catch it is a vice grip." Ash said quickly.

As Emolga was about to hit the crab Pokémon she was grabbed in an overly large claw.

"Crab hammer." With the other claw Crawdaunt used a devastating Crab hammer to the stunned Emolga.

Clemont watched on in horror unable to give a command as his second Pokémon was knocked out.

"Emolga is unable to battle Crawdaunt is the winner."

Clemont grimaced as he recalled Emolga, "Luxray lets do this."

"Crawdaunt return, Squirtle come on out."

Squirtle fearlessly faced down the electric canine which unnerved Clemont even more than he already was.

"Luxray use thunder fang"

"Squirtle don't let him, use skull bash."

Squirtle dove under the canine's jaws and slammed into Luxray's stomach.

"Now use water gun."

"Luxray dodge."

"Squirtle use dig"

Squirtle disappeared under ground, Luxray looked around nervously.

"Aqua jet."

Squirtle shot the ground and slammed into Luxray.

Luxray fell to the ground with a yelp. "Luxray use thunderbolt."

"Squirtle rapid spin."

The thunderbolt was deflected from the spinning turtle. "Now dig again."

Squirtle once again dug his way under the ground.

"Now use hydro jet."

Squirtle burst out of the ground starting an aqua jet. It was infused by a hydro pump and Luxray was smashed away and knocked into the ground out cold.

"Luxray is unable to battle, Squirtle is the winner."

Clemont gave a sigh as he returned his Pokémon, he finally realised that he was out of his depth here. His pride kept him from giving in.

"Helioisk lets bring one down."

"Thanks Squirtle that was great. You always love a fight, Buizel come on out."

"Helioisk use sunny day."

As the burst of energy rose into the sky Ash yelled, "Buizel use sonic boom."

Buizel launched into the air and launched the attack, as Helioisk looked down towards his opponent he was slammed into.

When the sunlight settled Clemont grinned, "Use your extra fire power and use thunderbolt."

A huge bolt of lightning shot towards the weasel Pokémon.

"Buizel dodge."

Buizel dived out of the way and winced slightly from the residue static.

"Use dragon pulse."

"Buizel use hydro pump."

The two attacks hit and the powered up dragon pulse slowly started to overpower the hydro pump.

"Buizel brick break."

Buizel disengaged and when he was just in front of Helioisk Clemont yelled, "Hyper beam."

At point blank range a huge beam of energy smashed into Buizel. Ash grimaced "How did I miss that?" he muttered.

"Well I think I've got you there." Clemont said his cocky demeanour reappearing.

Buizel slowly extracted himself from the wall. He was then engulfed by a bright light and Ash's face lit up.

When the light cleared a Floatzel was standing in his place. "Use rain dance." Ash commanded, "You are not the only one with an ability."

"Use brick break."

"Helioisk use thunder."

A bolt of thunder hit where Floatzel was, but the Pokémon moved off at an impossible speed and hit Helioisk so hard there was a sonic boom.

"Helioisk is unable to battle, Floatzel is the winner. This means that Ash Ketchum is the winner." The robot said.

Clemont slumped his shoulders and walked over to Helioisk, he returned his Pokémon and turned to Ash, who was being congratulated by Serena and George.

Just before he said something the door to the gym opened and a small girl ran over the Ash. The girl gave him a hug as she repeated 'thank you' over and over.

Ash slowly extracted himself from her grip and said, "Why?"

The girl pointed to Clemont, "My brother over there has been soooo arrogant. You are the first trainer to have beaten him for three months. You may have finally knocked some sense into him."

"Bonnie what are you doing here?" Clemont asked.

She turned to him and glared, "I happen to help you with the gym. A fact you seem to have forgotten in you being stupid."

Clemont raised his hands yielding. He then turned to Ash, "Thank you, I needed that. I needed to know that I wasn't as great as I think I was."

Ash gave him a quick grin, "no problem, I've had the same problem before. And you would have had me if not for Floatzel evolving." He said gesturing to his Pokémon who was talking with Pikachu.

"Yeah, well as the gym leader I have to give you this so take this, the voltage badge." He offered Ash the badge.

"Thanks, I may come back in here with five badges so get yourself ready for a rematch."

A/N and cut. I'm a bit more pleased with this chapter, though I do feel like I rushed the end a little.

How do you think I handled Clemont, I thought that it would be a good opportunity to see some more of Ash's older Pokémon. I'm really thankful for those of you who voted in my poll for the pairing for this story. If you want to find it, it will be on my profile. At the moment Serena is leading, with Misty second. I will warn you that if someone is voted as the pairing I might not so it simply because I have a couple of ideas for the future pairing that I may end up using regardless. Sorry…..
