Howdy folks,
after last night's amazing episode, I've come up with this version of the kiss that missed. Hope you like it.
Oh, and thank you for your reviews again.
01x18: Dead Men Tell No Tales
This is getting ridiculous. He's hardly the first guy to put the moves on her and yet she's completely in panic. She's never been one to feel insecure, not to mention uncomfortable around men and yet that's exactly what she's feeling in regards to Isaac Monroe.
Sean's been dead for quite some time now and there's probably not a better one to have a first try on relationships again than Isaac Monroe. He's nice and charming and he's got a refreshing sense of humor. Even Mike encouraged her to go out with him. So why is she feeling so dreadful? He texted her not even fifteen minutes ago, asking if they could have another date on Saturday and for the life of her she doesn't know what to tell the guy.
She peeks up her phone, rereads Isaac's text and closes it because for now she just can't deal with it. Right now, she needs someone else's perspective on this. Someone who'll be honest with her even if she might not like the truth. So she gathers up her things and leaves the office on her way to pay Henry Morgan a visit.
She's nervous when she knocks because it's completely humiliating that a woman her age doesn't know what to do about a date offer and yet she finds she really wants to hear his perspective on this.
It's Abe who opens when she finally gets up the nerve to knock and he smiles pleasantly. "Jo. Good evening. Come on in. Henry's downstairs."
She nods. "Thanks, Abe," she says and smiles at the older man before walking downstairs in search for her partner.
Taking a final breath, she finally walks into the room. Henry is sitting on the couch, reading.
"Hey Henry," she greets softly and he looks up surprised, but smiles at her.
"Detective," he says pleasantly and gets up to politely offer her the other seat. "Can I get you something to drink?"
She shakes her head, shrugs out of her coat and sits down. "I need to talk to you about something."
He looks a little surprised, but sits down next to her, turning to face her. "Very well."
Jo takes another deep breath, but still doesn't come up with a beginning.
"Does it have anything to do with the ship?", he suddenly asks, looking quite desperate and Jo quirks an eyebrow at him.
"No, why? Are there more breaking-ins you wanna confess?"
He quickly shakes his head. "No! I just…you looked so serious so I thought you might want to server our partnership."
She can't help but smile a little. "No, Henry. I'm actually here to talk about something more personal. I think I need some advice." She gazes down, not brave enough to look into his inquiring eyes.
"I assume this is about Isaac Monroe," Henry states and she nods.
"Yes, he's quite persistent and I…"
"You don't know what to tell him," Henry finishes for her and when she nods, he continues. "Jo, you've only just met him. If this is going to fast for your taste or if you do not like him, then you should just say so."
She sighs, but forces her next words out. "He's nice enough and I like him perfectly fine. I don't understand why I'm hesitating. As soon as he made a move on me, I literally locked myself into the bathroom," she confesses, still feeling humiliated.
To her surprise, Henry takes her hand in his. "If I asked you out on a date, what would your answer be?", he asks and the question completely catches her off guard and she blushes as she pictures them during a candle light dinner. A date with Henry Morgan would be something, she supposes. Since he's always so charming and gentlemanly, she wonders how it'd be like if he really tried to impress her.
"I'd accept I suppose," she admits and blushes feverishly, but Henry nods.
"It's because you know me and feel comfortable around me. I think…"
As he goes on explaining all the reasons why she'd agree to go on a date with him, Jo has an epiphany all of a sudden and it startles the hell out of her. She likes him. That's the reason why she'd go out with him. And if he tried to kiss her like Isaac did, she'd definitely not flee. She'd blissfully anticipate his hot lips and when they'd finally meet, she'd knot her fingers into his thick, dark hair.
She's got no doubt she'd completely lose herself in him. Jo feels tingles where Henry's still holding her hand and then she hears herself asking: "Henry? Are you asking me out?"
Now Henry's the one who's blushing and he rubs his neck nervously. "Uh…I guess?"
Jo bites her lip and lets out a nervous giggle as she realizes she's not even the least bit hesitating. "I'd love to, Henry."
"Great. I mean, alright."
They are both a little out of their element, so Jo thinks it might be wise if she just left now. Getting up, Henry follows suit.
"I'm sorry I'm not exactly smooth about this," she says apologetically and Jo smiles at him. Her heart is calmer by now and she feels quite brave when she steps into him and wraps her arms around his neck. It feels amazing and she finds she's not the slightest bit uncomfortable or panicked.
Henry looks surprised and perplexed for a moment, but then he carefully, experimentally places his hands on her waist. Looking up, she finds herself staring into his warm brown eyes and while her heart beats strongly in her chest, she isn't feeling anything bad. In fact all she feels is happiness. It seems to bubble right out of her heart, enveloping his whole being. She toys with the idea of standing up on her toes and kiss him, but before she can actually put her thoughts into action, Henry leans down and connects their lips in a mind blowing kiss.
Her head's actually empty for a second, but she can't stop the moaned "God, Henry" that escapes her as his tongue probes against her lips and she opens up.
Abruptly Henry breaks away and takes a step back. "While I rather enjoy this, it is getting out of hand," he pants.
Jo lowers her arms and nods. "I know. I should go home now."
He nods and gently takes her hand. "Come on then, I'll see you to the door."
Smiling, she lets him lead the way. No wonder things felt weird with Isaac, she thinks.
