Hello folks,

I thought the episode was amazing and especially Henry's face during the karaoke scene was perfect, but it also gave me some difficulties to fit a kissing scene into it. So I really hope I did okay.

I watched the promo for the next episode and wow, did it look amazing or what?

01x19: Punk Is Dead

We miss what's right in front of us…

It's driving him insane. Why hasn't he seen it before? It's ridiculous. It's not like he never noticed how beautiful she is, but somehow he didn't ever really think about her like that. Now that he's seen her with her new boyfriend, he can't believe how stupid and blind he's been. She beautiful, funny, loyal, dedicated and perfect and he just lost her to another man because he's been too blind to really notice her. Just because he's been mourning for Abigail for twenty years he's subconsciously assumed Jo wouldn't be ready to be anything more than friends for quite some time.

Damn.

Usually he isn't really one to curse, but he really can't believe he's been so stupid and blind. And he can't even talk her into breaking up with Isaac Monroe because he's quite a good choice.

Henry doesn't know what to do now. How is he supposed to work closely with Jo when he's got these feelings for her.

"Dad? Are you okay?" Abe startles him out of his thoughts. He stands in the doorway of Henry's room and looks thoughtfully at his father. "This isn't about Abigail again, is it?"

Henry shakes his head. "No, it's not." He doesn't say more but he obviously doesn't need to because Abraham nods knowingly.

"It's about Jo dating the rich guy."

He can't explain why but he's irritated by Abe's choice of words. "Jo can date whomever she desires."

"Well, whatever, but I don't think you have to worry though. Things between them won't last." His son speaks with such conviction that Henry's speechless for a moment.

"Why would you say that?", he finally asks and Abraham rolls his eyes.

"You know for one who's as old as you your freaking clueless when it comes to women."

Henry arches his eyebrow. "Then enlighten me," he says drily because he really can't believe this is actually happening.

"Jo's lost her husband and now she finally wants to go out there again, so she chooses to do it with someone she feels comfortable around with, who she feels at ease with."

"Are you telling me she feels uncomfortable around me?"

Abraham tilts his head and arches an eyebrow. "Well, do you want her to feel comfortable around you, like around a good buddy she likes to have around or feel tingles all over her?"

He feels like he's missing something here. "What exactly are you saying, Abraham?"

His son rolls his eyes. "I'm saying she's just testing the waters with someone who's easy to be around. You are her partner and her close friend. Starting anything with you and then failing would mean the end of that. And besides that you haven't really clued her in on your feelings, have you?"

Well, he has to give him that. He might have made her some compliments or given her that smile that he's somehow reserving just for her, but he's never said anything particular that would make her realize he might actually have a romantic interest in her.

"So what am I going to do?", Henry asks helplessly and Abraham shrugs.

"I don't know, Henry. But before you do anything, you might think about what exactly you want to be for her because she might want more than you're willing to give for now," he says and Henry knows his son is reminding him of the incident with Molly.

"Well, I'm really tired and heading to bed now. Goodnight, dad."

"Goodnight, Abraham," he says but he's still thinking about Jo. Would he want to date Jo? Kiss her, eventually sleep with her? He grins a little as he realizes that his body definitely would like to, but he fears for the moment his mind isn't as ready yet. Henry sighs as he realizes that while he isn't completely into this it wouldn't be fair for him to say anything that would jeopardize Jo's relationship with Isaac Monroe, but maybe it wouldn't hurt to woo her a little.

The next few days he asks her every day for lunch and is pretty delighted when she happily accepts. They eat and talk and he brings her back to the station every time. At one day he starts on kissing her cheek goodbye. She smiles surprised, but doesn't resist. It's the same day she comes to his office late in the evening.

"Detective, " he calls pleasantly, smiling charmingly at her, but Jo doesn't smile back.

His smile falters. "What's wrong?"

"Are you trying to hit on me?", she says and he doesn't know what to say to that. Because it's true, but Jo doesn't look like she wants to hear it. She starts pacing and seems to get angrier with every second.
"I mean you couldn't realize you liked me when I was single? No, you had to wait until someone as nice and charming as Isaac came along to sweep me off my feet. And now I find myself trapped between the flattery of being worshipped by Isaac and the wild beating of my heart because of my ridiculously handsome partner." She looks like she's close to tears and Henry realizes whatever Abraham thought he might know about Jo's feelings, might not be completely true and that he should just do what feels right. So he gets up, walks towards her and takes one of her hands in his.

"Jo," he says sheepishly, "I'm sorry I've put you into that position. For what's worth it I really, really like you."

She sighs. "I like you too, Henry, but-"

"Okay, well, I might more than like you," he then admits, effectively cutting her off. "I don't know why it took me so long to realize this, but I'm sorry and-"

Now he is the one getting cut off because he feels her lips on his all of a sudden. The kiss is short, but hot and it definitely feels amazing.

When she pulls away, she blushes and bites her lip embarrassed. "I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me."

He smiles charmingly. "Well, I'm certainly not complaining, detective Mártinez."

She blushes again and giggles and Henry feels it right down at his less gentlemanly parts. "So what now?", he asks because the decision lies with her.

"I guess I need to cancel the date with Isaac tonight and tell him there won't be any more," she says and blushes again, "and then maybe…"

"Maybe?"

"Maybe we could go out to dinner?", she suggests and bites her lips nervously.

Henry nods, can't believe this is actually happening, but he quickly nods. "We can do that." Leaning down, he presses another chaste kiss to her lips.

"Alright, I should get going now. See you tomorrow." She smiles at him and he winks as she turns around and leaves.

He takes a deep breath, his beating heart slowly calming down and Henry is still a little too stunned to actually believe he hasn't lost his chance. And while he might not be ready to go all the way yet, kissing Jo feels like a really nice start into something more.
