Chapter 11
Saturday nights for most teenagers would be them going out to party and have fun. Lee Jenrya was not one of those kids tonight. Currently, the young teen was was at home watching tv in his living room. He spent the last few minutes flipping through channels to try and find something interesting to watch. There was no such luck yet and so he settled for the local news station.
"And in other news tonight" came the voice of the male reporter. "There have been numerous incidents of people getting attacked by a creature late at night." Jenrya let out a gasp as he turned up the volume. "The attacks have led to victims being hospitalized due to blood loss and officials advise locals to stay in at night and not be alone."
"Zodimon." Jenrya said to himself as he turned off the tv and got up from the couch. He reached for his phone and dialed a familiar number.
Ring…
...ring…
...ring
"Hello?" The voice on the other line called out.
"Takato-kun." He answered back in a serious tone. "We have a problem."
"Oh hey Lee-kun!" Takato greeted happily. "What's up? You sound like death knocked on your door or something." He teased and laughed at his own joke.
Jenrya gave a deep sigh before answering. "It's zodimon. She's been attacking people and landing them in the hospital."
Takato gasped at the information he was given. "What?! This can't be happening."
"We gotta do something before more people get hurt."
"Boy, you're telling me!" exclaimed Takato. "It might be a little hard since we don't know where she is though."
"I think I might have an idea."
"It doesn't involve using one of us as bait, does it?" Takato asked nervously.
"Im afraid we don't have much of a choice." Jenrya sighed.
Takato remained silent for a bit before talking. "Then we'll get together with Ruki tomorrow and plan it out."
"Sounds good."
"Night Jen! Stay safe!"
"Thanks, Takato. You too!"
Once the call ended, Jenrya made a turn for his room and plopped down on his bed. He was starting to contemplate everything that had been going on and the guilt was finally starting to stink in. "I can't believe it's gotten this bad." The boy said to himself and sighed deeply. "Terriermon?" He called out and waited. He didn't get a response yet. "Terriermon?" He called out again, this time a bit more urgently, but still nothing. "Terriermon!"
He could faintly hear footsteps running towards his room before he heard a voice. "Yes…Jen…" The white rabbit-like digimon answered, clearly out of breath. "What's…up?"
The teen sat up and took a good look at his panting digimon. "Jeez, you look like you were running a marathon or something." He pointed out. "What happened?"
"Uh…" The digimon in question looked around and tried to think of something. Luckily, someone else had come into the room and stood by his side.
"Sorry, Jen." Lopmon said as she wrapped an ear around 'Terriermon'. "He was with me" she replied coyly.
Jen took a closer look at his digimon and took in his disheveled appearance. "Oh my god." He mumbled as he put two and two together. "I…um…congrats?" He said awkwardly as he got off his bed. "I didn't know you two made up?"
Lopmon giggled at his reaction and nodded. "Yup, we sure did. Right Terriermon?"
"Yup!" The white rabbit digimon replied.
"Well uh…I'll leave you two alone then." The disturbed teen said as he made his way into the kitchen.
'Terriermon' then turned to face Lopmon and smiled. "Wow thanks Lopmon! I probably would have said something dumb and unbelievable." He admitted as he scratched the back of his head.
The brown rabbit-like digimon simply giggled at his words. "No problem!" She assured the digimon next to her. "I know lying isn't your forte, guilmon" she whispered so no one could hear. "So how did your first night of training go?"
"Well…" Guilmon began, "Rena-chan being amazing got it down right away!" He beamed at the thought of his love. "But me and Terriermon…not so much." He admitted shamefully.
"Don't sweat it," Lopmon said as she pat his back. "It might take some time, but I know you can do it."
"But zodimon is still out there." He stated matter of factly. "Who knows what she's up to."
"About that," Lopmon said. "It seems she has been going after people and attacking."
Guilmon let out a gasp before speaking. "What?! Oh no this is all my fault." He said in a guilty tone. "I should have worked harder to defeat her the first time."
"No one is to blame here." Lopmon assured. "Please don't beat yourself up over this. I know you three will be able to take her down and everything will go back to normal!" She continued to encourage her friend.
Guilmon shrugged and nodded at her. "I guess you're right." He said, still unsure of himself.
"You three have defeated much more difficult enemies, I know you can do this." She said as she smiled at him.
"Thanks Lopmon," he said as he smiled back, it was a weak one but Lopmon was glad to have raised his spirits slightly.
"Come on, let's get out of here before Jen thinks we're doing something inappropriate." She teased as she dragged Guilmon out of the room.
"Ok!" He said as he followed her lead "but first…im hungry."
Lopmon sweat dropped as she looked back at him. "Didn't you just eat?"

The Makino residence was quiet and peaceful tonight as Ruki was just in her room reading her math textbook. Being bored out of her mind doing schoolwork was definitely not how she wanted to spend her night.
"I can't believe I have to learn about calculus." She groaned as she continued to take down notes. "I'm a top class digimon tamer for crying out loud!" Suddenly, her phone began to vibrate and she got up from her bed to answer it. She looked at the caller ID and chuckled. "I could always use a distraction from studying." Ruki said to herself just before answering.
"Hello?" The girl answered casually.
"Ruki!" The voice on the other line called out urgently.
"Hey gogglehead." She answered back. "What's wrong? "
"It's zodimon." He replied seriously. "She's getting out of control and landing innocent people in the hospital."
Ruki's eyes widened as she grasped her phone. "Are you serious?!"
"Completely." Takato answered back with a deep sigh. "Lee-kun wants to meet up tomorrow to set up a plan of attack." He then gave Ruki the details on when and where they would meet up. The conversation didn't end there though, as the two teens spent another half hour or so on the phone just catching up.
"So then Juri-san spilled her milk down his shirt!" Takato finished telling the story and the girl on the other line burst out laughing.
"No way!" Ruki exclaimed. "Really? That's my girl!"
"Yea and she didn't even get in trouble because no one believed it was her"
Ruki laughed again and then looked at the clock in her room. "Hey listen, I have to get back to studying."
"Oh oops, sorry about that." Takato apologized sincerely. "I guess I lost track of time." He chuckled.
"It's ok, I didn't wanna go back to calculus anyways." She admitted. Takato just made an 'blegh' noise in response. "Yea I know."
"You know..." the boy spoke "It's nice…talking to you like this." Takato admitted shyly.
Ruki was glad he wasn't there to see the blush forming on her cheeks. "Yea…I guess it was" she responded.
"Ruki?"
"Yes Takato?"
There was a bit of silence on the other line. "Um…stay safe"
"Thanks. You too." She replied back, somewhat disappointed. They both said goodnight to one another and ended the call. Ruki then walked over to her bed and sat down to continue studying.
Shortly after, a certain vixen phased into the room. "Nice study break." 'Renamon' teased as she appeared behind the girl.
"You know," Ruki spoke up, clearly unaffected by her surprise entrance. "I hate when you do that."
'Renamon' just chuckled. "What was that all about anyways?" The fox asked curiously.
"Just digimon business." Ruki answered flatly as she continued to take notes. "What about you?" She peeked at her digimon. "You look like you were out fighting" she pointed out her messy appearance. "And without me?"
"Oh you know,"'Renamon' began. "just a typical late night rendezvous with Guilmon" the fox answered back coyly. (More like practice fighting rounds, but she doesn't have to know) Terriermon giggled to himself.
"Please spare me the details" Ruki groaned. "By the way, we're meeting up tomorrow with the others to plan an attack against zodimon."
'Renamon' gulped, though it was completely unnoticed by Ruki. "So soon?" the yellow fox asked nervously.
"We don't have much of a choice." The girl replied. "She's leaving people in the hospital with blood loss."
'Renamon' just nodded in agreement and decided to let the girl get back to studying. "Well I better get going" The yellow kitsune announced as she went towards the window. "Going back for another round!" 'Renamon' said obnoxiously, clearly getting a kick out of grossing out the girl in front of her. "See ya when i'm done!"
"Renamon!" Ruki shouted as she grabbed one of her pillows. "Gross!" She yelled as she tossed a pillow towards her digimon even though she was long gone by now. "I'm still not buying this new personality from her, but I'll let get to the bottom of this..."

A typical night for Impmon consisted of him causing mischief by scaring people or getting into fights with whoever was around. Some bad habits just weren't meant to be changed. As much as he adored his tamers, he needed to keep entertained somehow once they went to sleep. It wasn't a very fulfilling life, but he had to do something to keep from being bored. Tonight was different though as he was currently taking a stroll with Chiromon around the park. It was a nice change he thought to himself, though he wasn't going to admit it right away.
"Sorry again about pineapple head." The imp apologized for about the umpteenth time. "I dun know what got into him." He explained. "He's normally so carefree and well…nice."
"Oh it's alright." Chiromon insisted. "Im sure he's a very nice mon!" She assured him as she gave a smile. "And no for the last time he is not my type." She added quickly and laughed.
"Phew, that's a relief." Impmon said as he rubbed the back of his head.
The pair continued to walk around the park comfortably until chiromon stopped abruptly.
"You know," Chiromon said as she turned to face Impmon. "I never really got the chance to thank you."
"For what?"
"Taking me in and showing me around when I first got here..."
Flashback...
The moon was shining brightly as a purple figure was walking alone at night. He looked up at the view to admire it for a bit before letting out a deep sigh. The night always found Impmon restless as it left him alone with his thoughts.
"Sometimes I think I miss having fox-face around." Impmon muttered to himself as he kicked a pebble that was nearby. "Sure I did the right thing, but what did I get outta it? Im the one who ended up alone." He said bitterly as he remembered everything that had happened in the past year.
Suddenly a loud crash broke his train of thought. The imp turned around to see where it came from and sure enough, the source of the sound was nearby. Impmon had two options, he could either ignore it and continue to think about his problems or he could investigate to keep him distracted. He chose the latter
Impmon approached the area cautiously, but found that nothing was there. Then he looked around to see if he had missed something but he couldn't find anything. He was just about to give up when he saw something fly past by him really quickly.
"What was that?!" He shouted as he tried to chase after it. Unfortunately for Impmon, the figure was too fast and he lost track of it.
The imp decided it wasn't worth it and decided to head back home. As he looked up to sky again, the figure flew by him again. It left as fast as it came as he lost track of it again. This time he managed to get a better look. From what he could make out it was a digimon, a human hybrid digimon.
"How the hell did another digimon manage to get here?!" From what he could remember, it was a female...a very attractive female.
"Don't get any ideas." He scolded himself. "The last thing ya need is another dame to mess ya up." Impmon decided he had enough for one night and to let the tamers deal with whatever that thing was. He was leaving the park when he heard voices coming from behind.
"What is that?" The voice of a teenager spoke.
"No clue man, let's take it back and examine it!" Another voice answered back in a devious tone.
As Impmon investigated the scene, he saw two boys huddled around another figure who was on the ground. This one was much different than the one he had encountered earier. It was definitely a digimon and appeared to be fox-like.
"Please...don't..." the creature spoke weakly.
"It talks!" One of the boys exclaimed. "We gotta capture it! We could turn it in and get rich or something!"
Now Impmon may have had a reputation for being unpleasant at times, but he had some sense of honor as well. He couldn't let a fellow mon be tortured by humans.
"BADA-BOOM!" He yelled as he hurled one of his signature fireballs at the teens. It was enough to scare them both and send them running for their lives. The imp laughed at their reaction and turned his attention to the figure on the ground. Impmon approached the digimon cautiously and looked down at it. "You alright?" He asked cooly, turning his head away from it.
"Yes...thank you." The figure replied, the voice was feminine and sounded soft. It was obvious that it must have been a female digimon. The fox-like digimon then got up from the ground and stuck her hand out towards the one who saved her life. "I'm chiromon." She said as she waited from him to look at her.
Impmon turned to face her slowly and his eyes widened as he took in her appearance. She was a bit shorter than he was with honey colored fur, and had such lovely, vibrant ruby eyes. He felt like he could get lost in them and wouldn't mind one bit.
"Impmon." He introduced himself as he took her hand and shook it. "You'd better be careful around here toots. Some of these stinkin' humans can be ruthless." He warned.
"Oh my really?" She asked curiously. "Maybe you can...show me around?" Her head was hung low as she asked him shyly.
He smirked at her request before giving an answer. "Sure."
"Oh that?" Impmon asked, trying to seem as cool as possible. "it's fine, i couldn't leave a pretty girl like ya to fend for ya self."
"Oh really?" she teased. "You don't seem like the type to help just anyone" she said while smirking.
"Guilty as charged!" He joked as he put his hands up.
"I mean it though." She took his hands in herd and gave a light squeeze. "Thank you."
Impmon blushed slightly at her actions and hated himself for it. "N-no problem." He stuttered. "Shall we?" He asked as they motioned for them to continue walking.
It wasn't long until chiromon stopped again, something cleary bothering her. She sighed deeply as she turned to face him. "Impmon…"
"What's wrong toots?" He asked, genuinely concerned about her mood.
"I need to tell you something important." She confessed and paused for a bit before speaking. "There's a reason why im here."
"To meet yours truly?" He guessed, half serious and half joking.
She let out a laugh as she playfully hit him. He then faked being in pain which made her laugh even more. "Arent you a funny one?" She teased.
"Hey what can I say? I don't like seeing pretty girls like ya sad"
It was her turn to blush a little before she continued from where she left off. "I have something to tell you, but I need you to just listen."
"Sure thing doll-face"

Renamon sighed of boredom as she was cooped up in Guilmon's hideout. "You'd think I'd be used to staying here by now." She muttered to no one but herself. Suddenly those intense training sessions with Ruki sounded like a lot of fun. Oh how she missed her life of training and keeping distracted. Most of all she missed her home with Ruki and her family. Renamon's train of thought was interrupted as guilmons killer sense of smell kicked in and she sniffed out a familiar scent. "3…2…1"
"Boo!" Terriermon yelled as he appeared behind Renamon.
The lizard turned around to face the fox and just sighed. "Nice try but i could smell you from outside."
"Will you ever let me win?" He asked dramatically and flailed his arms.
"Is there a reason for your visit? Or are you simply here to bother?" Renamon asked in a annoyed tone.
"Not to worry, ice queen's second-in-command" Terriermon replied back as he went over to the basket of bread that was besides Renamon. "Im just here to let you know we're gonna have to fight sooner than expected." He said as he grabbed a bread and sat down.
"Well it's not me I'm worried about." Renamon said confidently. "It's you and Guilmon who need the most work."
"Hey!" Terriermon remarked defensively. "I got some gossip on Ruki but I don't have to tell ya if you're gonna give me an attitude." He warned.
Renamon inhaled sharply and gave a fake smile at the digimon next to her. "Why what news do you have?" She asked sweetly, though it was obviously fake.
"Well," he said before taking a bite of bread. "It seems like miss cool-and-spicy has a thing for Takato."
('No surprise there') she thought to herself, but decided to play along. "What makes you say that?"
"He called her earlier to let her know about zodimon, and-" he continued to eat his late night snack. "What should have been a short conversation ended up lasting almost an hour!"
"Wow and she hates being on the phone." Renamon added.
"That's what I said." Terriermon said in between bites. "You shoulda seen the look on her face!" He exclaimed. "She was smiling and laughing the whole time…it was different."
Renamon smiled at the thought. "Im glad to hear that."
"Anyways, that's about it on your Ruki update."
"Thank you" she said as she slightly bowed. The digimon next to her just just sighed deeply in response. Sensing something was wrong she asked, "are you alright?"
"I just miss Jen…i hope he's okay."
"You could always just teleport to check on him." Renamon stated.
"Really?! No way!" Terriermon remarked sarcastically. "That's brand new information!"
Renamon sweat dropped at his reaction. "Well if you know then what's stopping you?"
"It'd be kinda weird for Renamon to stop by, don't cha think?" Terrermon paused for a bit. "We weren't exactly close when we were in our own bodies so it'd fishy." He stated matter of factly.
Renamon simply nodded at his explaination, unsure of what else to say.
There was an awkward silence for a bit until someone spoke up. "Wait a minute!" Terriermon suddenly yelled. "It'd be weird if Renamon stopped by…but not Guilmon." He said as he turned to face the digimon next to him.
Renamon simply raised a brow at him. "What are you trying to say?" She asked suspiciously.
"Just hear me out for a second," he proposed as he got up. "If Guilmon were to visit his good ol' friend Terriermon and Renamon just so happened to tag along, it would seem pretty normal!"
"So what you are trying to say is," she began. "that you want to use me to see your tamer?"
"Oh come on, pleeeaseeeeeeee!" The digimon next to her begged. "Id like to think of it as helping out a friend in need!" He replied back.
"I do not know about this." said Renamon as she crossed her arms together.
"Pleaseeeee." Terriermon practically whined. "Besides don't you wanna see how your beloved is doing?" He teased.
Just the thought of him made her upset. Renamon scoffed and crossed her arms tighter. "I am still upset with him."
"Aw come on, I forgave him for what happened! So should you!"
"The fact is that he still kept it from me and I had to find out from Lopmon." She spat out bitterly. "He even accused ME of still having feelings for impmon, when he went and did that. How am I supposed to trust him?"
"Look, i'm not one to butt in," Terriermon began, but was interrupted when the lizard next to him gave him a questioning look. "Ahem, anyways! I'm not one to butt in but you should just talk it out with him. I hate seeing him so sad."
Renamon thought about her decision for a little while before she sighed deeply. "Oh, alright," She said defeatedly. "but only to prove to you that I am not as heartless as you think."
"You mean it?" Terriermon asked as he started to jump up and down excitedly. "Wow thanks Renamon! I owe you! Ya know, unless it can get me killed then...nevermind!"
Renamon just stared blankly at her teammate and groaned in annoyance. "Let's just get this over with." She said as she held onto him as he was getting ready to leave, bracing herself for what was to come.

Back at the Lee residence, Jenrya was back in his room again after finding it to be empty. "What a night" the teenager mumbled to himself as he recalled everything that happened the in the last few hours. He laid down on his bed and was starting to drift to sleep until he heard a slight tapping coming from his window. Thinking it was nothing, Jen ignored it and tried to sleep. The tapping noise only got louder and the tired boy got up from his bed to check on it. He looked outside his window to find two familiar digimon outside on his balcony.
"Oh hi, Guilmon. Did takato send you to check on me?" He joked as he opened the window to let the two digimon in.
"I just wanted to pay Terriermon a visit." 'Guilmon' said once he came into the room. The lizard was then nudged by the yellow fox next to him. "I mean my good friend Terriermon..."
Jenrya just looked at him oddly and turned his attention to 'Renamon'. "Nice to see you as well." The boy said politely. "You must have been the one to bring Guilmon over here huh?"
"Hiya Jen!" 'Renamon' greeted almost too nicely and her informality caused Jen to give a questioning stare. The fox was then nudged by 'Guilmon'. "Uh I mean...hello." she said while bowing at the boy in front of her.
"Anyways..." Jenrya said awkwardly as he was heading towards out his bedroom door. "I'll just go and get Terriermon." The two digimon nodded their heads as he left the room.
"Nice one dummy, you almost blew your cover." Renamon whispered harshly to Terriermon. "I always refer to him as Lee-san."
"I can't help it, I got carried away!"
Meanwhile in Shuichons room, two bunny-like digimon were on the floor with lots of papers and some pens scattered around them. For the past half hour, Lopmon was teaching her friend the art of writing. Something she enjoyed a lot and used to do when she was in the digital world.
"Thanks for teaching me how to write haikus, Lopmon." said Guilmon as he was more than grateful that the digimon next to him was good at writing poems.
"You're welcome" the brown rabbit replied. "I had to take your mind off of hunger somehow." She teased as she poked his stomach.
Guilmon giggled at her response and looked down at his paper. "I hope Renamon likes what I wrote for her. You think she'll forgive me?"
"I'm sure she'll love it!" Lopmon said encouragingly as she peeked at his work. "Show me what you have" She asked politely.
"Ahem," Guilmon cleared his throat and was about to speak, but was interrupted when someone knocked on the door.
"Are you both decent?" Jen called out from outside. Both digimon stifled their laughter before answering him back.
"Don't worry Jen, you're safe!" Lopmon replied.
He then opened the door slightly and peeked his head in to see if they were being honest. They were. "Terriermon you have guests" Jenrya announced as he opened the door enough for him to come in. "Why don't you come into the living room so Shuichon can come into her room and get some sleep."
'Terriermon' got up from the floor and ran over to the boy in front of him. "I have guests?" He asked as he pointed at himself. Jenrya nodded his head in reply. The white dog-rabbit turned around and motioned for Lopmon to follow. As they headed into the living room, Jenrya went back into his room to fetch the digimon who were in his room.
"He's all yours." Jenrya said to both 'Guilmon' and 'Renamon'. "I'll be in my room if you need anything, and don't stay up too late." He said firmly, then entered his room and shut his door.
"Renamon? Terriermon?" Guilmon blinked at them. "You came here to see me?"
"I only came so Terriermon could see Lee-san and it wouldn't be weird." Renamon replied, a bit harsher than she intended. "I wouldn't be here for any other reason." Guilmon cringed a bit at her coldness, but didn't say anything. He figured she had every right to still be mad.
Lopmon sensed the tension in the room and decided to play mediator. "Terriermon, why dont we go into Shuichon's room while they talk things out?" She suggested as she grabbed his paw, thought it was a bit hard considering the new (taller) body he was in. Of course he wasn't going to have any objections with spending more time with her, and to get away from tense atmosphere.
"Fine by me!" He replied as they left the living room and headed into the girl's room. Lopmon would have to think of a believable reason for their visit...
Renamon was staring daggers at Guilmon at this point. "I only came as a favor for Terriermon."
Guilmon gulped nervously and hung his head low. "I know you're still mad at me, and I don't blame you." He said apologetically. "but I really am sorry."
"Hmph." was all the came from Renamon's mouth. She had never been this upset before, and she while she knew she was probably overreaccting, her pride made it difficult to back down so soon. She looked over at him and saw how awful he felt about the situation.
"Wait," He perked his head up to look at her. "I wrote something for you!" Guilmon smiled. "Lopmon taught me how to right haikus." He beamed proudly. "Do you wanna hear it?"
"A haiku?" She raised a brow at him. "I suppose..."
"Ok..." He took in a breath before he recited his poem:
"Renamon my dear,
I'm sorry for hurting you,
You're the one for me."
Renamon put her pride down and smiled at him. "Guilmon, I..."
"It was bad, huh?" He sighed. "Sorry, it was my first one an-" He was cut off as he felt himself being scooped up into Renamon's arms.
"Not at all." She assured him. "It was lovely." Renamon said as she squeezed him tighter. "Thank you."
"Does this mean i'm forgiven?" He asked innocently.
Renamon laughed as he gave him another hug."For now you are."
The moment was cut short as the pair felt something trying to break them apart. "Not while you're in my body!" Terriermon ordered as he broke the pair up. Lopmon was right behind him laughing at the scene.
