Ursa POV

I got up to use the restroom after Agni left and I stared in the mirror. I aged very well and my hair was still naturally black. I smiled knowing Agni was testing the sands of time for me to stay so youthful but I never complained.

I thought back to the many different people I had been over the course of my many lives. I smiled at the thought of my favorite life, my first one. It was 1000 years ago that I met Agni. The world was a much different place then and the gods walked side by side with the mortals.

My mother wanted me to marry well and Agni showed up at our door one day asking for my hand. I didn't know him well when my mother accepted the proposal but it did not take long for me to fall for his charm or his beautiful personality.

When I died the first time and went into the Spirit World, he explained to me that one day I would be Fire Lady and I would have his children. I will never forget the day I had Zuko. It wasn't the first time I had been pregnant, but it was the first time I was pregnant with Agni's child.

I was terrified that Ozai would find out and I would be killed. He never doubted my fidelity though. That is the only thing I am grateful to him for. He was a cruel leader and an awful husband and father.

That day was exceedingly hot and my midwife was concerned that I was laboring too quickly. Almost 50 minutes after my water breaking, Zuko was born. Ozai ignored me when he first entered the room.

"A boy." was all he said.

I nodded, happy that labor was over.

"He will be a fine leader. Get some rest." he said softly before kissing my forehead and leaving.

I sat there quietly, unsure of how to react to his sudden show of emotion.

He treated Zuko as a soldier, forcing the young boy to call him 'Lord' instead of dad. When Azula was born, he lightened up just a bit. He didn't really like her but he thought that when she was older, he would marry her off to a noble and she would have a few boys.

As the children grew older, Ozai took a special liking to Azula for her quick mastery of fire bending. She was only 4 when she beat Zuko in a match. Zuko, forever an amazing big brother was so proud of her. Ozai however was not pleased. He berated Zuko in front of the entire staff and in front of his younger sister.

That night, he got really drunk and told me that he would teach Zuko a lesson. I locked him in our room, asked Iroh to book tickets to America and left that night with the children. I had a friend that lived in Bronze Lake and she told me that a home recently went on sale. We lived with her for a few weeks until the process was complete.

We returned to the Fire Nation 3 years later for his coronation and 2 years after that for his funeral.

The doctors said his drinking is what killed him. It was no bother to me though. I was happy that he was gone. Iroh took the throne and I lived happily with my children in a small town in the North West.

I left my memories and returned to the present day. I smiled at myself in the mirror and then went back to bed.

Katara POV

The next morning, I woke up with a slight headache and I thought about the last time I had a drink of water. I was sweating profusely from being snuggled into his side with my already warm pajamas on.

I got up, brushed my teeth and went downstairs to get some water. After about 6 glasses, my body felt normal again. A gentle creak on the stairs let me know someone was awake.

Ursa came into the kitchen with a smile. "Cute pajamas."

I giggled and pulled the hood up. "I found these like 3 years ago at Macy's. The fact that I'm 18 and can wear a animal themed onesie makes me so happy."

She laughed and gave me a hug. "Do you want to help me make breakfast?"

"Sure! I love to cook!" I said before washing my hands.

I started making the pancake batter while she began to cut up some fruit.

"Ursa?"

"Yes honey."

"I have a few questions." I admitted softly.

"Is it about being a Fire Lady?" she asked understandingly.

I nodded. "I know Agni picked us for each other, but … I guess I just don't think I can really co-rule a nation."

"Let me tell you a story," she started before putting the fruit in a big bowl. "When I was 18, my parents starting looking for suitors for me. I was raised in a very wealthy family and my dad was a member of my husband's father's council. Ozai, my husband, was the younger of the two boys, but his older brother had recently lost his wife and baby. He felt he wasn't stable enough to take the throne. So it fell to Ozai."

I listened intently, knowing in my heart that she would reassure me of my place as Fire Lady.

"One day, a few months before my 19th birthday, my dad came home saying that Ozai was searching for a bride. He was so excited because he just knew that he would marry me. There was this luncheon organized by the palace. Ozai and 50 eligible young ladies of the upper class. I wasn't really thrilled to be there, but I knew if I married him, I wouldn't need to worry about anything for the rest of my life. So I flirted with him a bit and accepted his offer to go out, just the two of us.

"Within 6 months we were married. Since his father was still alive, we were more of stand-ins for the Fire Lord and Lady. Sozin, his father, was too old to really do anything so Ozai began to take control leaving me to figure out being a Fire Lady by myself. It was one of the hardest jobs I had ever had, I won't lie. But it was so rewarding. I learned so much about the other nations and began to respect their culture and practices. It takes a very strong willed and determined woman to be by the side of the Fire Lord. You are that woman. I know you're still young, but you have me. I had boring servants teaching me the rules. You have me. I will make sure you're the best Fire Lady this nation has ever seen."

I stopped mixing the batter and smiled at her. "I love you so much, I know I've only known you for about 4 months, but you're so amazing to me."

"I love you too hun. I meant what I said, over this next year, I'll teach you everything you need to know about being royalty." she replied before giving me a hug.

Someone came running down the stairs and I smiled knowing it was Azula.

"I'm so hungry! What is for breakfast?" she complained as I poured batter into the now griddle.

"Pancakes, bacon and fruit." Ursa replied.

"Yum." she said before stealing a piece of pineapple from the bowl.

"Go wake your brother up, the pancakes won't take too long and I'm about to start the bacon." I commanded before laying the bacon on the griddle.

"Yes ma'am!" Azula replied before saluting me. I laughed and rolled my eyes.

AZULA POV

"WAKE UP BROTHER!" I yelled as I ran up the stairs.

I opened his door and bounced on the other side of the bed. "Brother! Wake up brother!"

"Go away!" he yelled before slapping me with a pillow and hiding under the blanket.

"I saw that smirk. I'm gonna get you!" I said before taking that same pillow and hitting him with it.

"Oh I see how it is." Zuko said before bursting out from under the blanket with two pillows in hand.

We hadn't had a pillow fight in ages but I wasn't complaining. I hadn't seen Zuko this much since he left for college and honestly, I've really missed my brother.

He whacked me hard against the back and I ran into the hallway.

"You can't run away!" he yelled.

"Oh yes I can!" I yelled back before running to my room to get another pillow. He blocked my doorway with his body and had a playful smile on his face.

"Where are you gonna go? You can't get past me."

I threw my pillow at his face and tackled him while he was off guard. He fell underneath me and I hit him with the pillow as hard as I could. Sadly for me, it wasn't hard enough because he rolled me off of him, grabbed me by the waist and carried me down the stairs.

"Mom! Look what I got!" he yelled as he ran down the stairs.

"Hopefully its not a broken bone, what were you two doing up there?"

"Nope! Its a spoil of war! I captured the other side's princess." he replied before putting me in my seat and settling in his own.

"I win."

I rolled my eyes and scoffed. "You only won because I couldn't get away!"

Katara started laughing, "Isn't that how most battles are won?"

"Oh shut up!" I replied with a laugh. "Is breakfast ready yet? All that pillow fighting made me hungry."

"Everything makes you hungry." Zuko said as he stood up. He walked around the island and gave my mom and Katara kisses on the cheek.

"Eww! You didn't brush your teeth yet!" Katara said before gently pushing his face away.

"They get kisses and I get beat up?" I gasped. "Where is the love?"

"Maybe Aeron will give you some love." my mom said before placing a platter full of pancakes on the table.

Everyone started laughing and I felt myself flush. "Please stop! Thats so awkward!"

"Oh come on, I'd honestly be shocked if Agni didn't like you two together. He's cute, he is really really sweet and he a talented photographer. Your kids baby pictures will look so great." Katara said with a smirk.

I glared at everyone and stuck my tongue out like a little kid. I settled into my seat and watched as my family bustled around me. The easy way Katara had with my family was so incredible to watch. We had only known her for almost 5 months, but she fit in perfectly. Call me crazy, but I already consider her my sister. I couldn't wait for my Uncle Iroh to meet her. He would love her.

My uncle is getting really old and it bothers me. I haven't seen him since my father's funeral and that wasn't exactly the best time for socializing. I remember when I was little how he would always bring me and Zuko candy when he saw us.

I smiled a bit at my memories and looked around the kitchen once more. Suddenly I couldn't wait for the coronation.

ZUKO POV

After a bite of pancakes, I turned to Kat.

"You made these didn't you?"

She giggled and nodded. "I'm surprised you noticed."

"Oh man. When you spent the night and made breakfast, I thought about those pancakes for at least a week later." I said before shoving more in my mouth.

"I hope you can cook everything like your pancakes. This boy eats like he's never eaten a day in life." my mom said before popping a strawberry in her mouth.

"Won't the staff make food for us once we get married?" Katara asked.

"Yeah, but if you give them the night off because you wanna cook, they can't exactly argue with you."

"Good! I love to cook too much to be served for the rest of my life."

"Are you sure she has it in her to be a princess? I .. I just don't see it." Azula said before sipping her juice.

Katara starting laughing and rolled her eyes. "Oh please, I'm so spoiled the royal kids have nothing on me."

"I'll believe it when I see it!" I said before eating my last piece of bacon.

I put my plate in the sink and went upstairs to get ready for my day. I promised Azula I would get Aeron's boutonnière for her after I cleaned up the front yard so they could take pictures.

I was in the my bathroom in my underwear when I realized that I loved Katara.

I went to bed the night before feeling a tad nervous about our relationship but suddenly, I wasn't nervous anymore. I was beginning to get really excited to see where the future would take us.
