Chapter 5:
2 Years Later
"Hey, Albey. Do you think that you'd rather see her wearing a plain white dress or something stylin' likes a hot pink color?" 20-year-old Rin had been sitting atop the polished wooden table as she flipped through a magazine, eventually casting her glance towards the brilliant blonde. Wesker was as he had always been, wearing his trademark scowl like it had been any other day. The only difference was that his uniform had been replaced with a black tuxedo, adorned with a crimson handkerchief. His arms had folded against his broad chest, keeping his eyes tightly shut.
"I don't have a true preference, honestly. She would be gorgeous even if she wore a plastic bag, don't you agree?" He drawled on with his lips pursed into a tight line, reaching to grasp his shades.
A soft set of clicking heels alerted the bored pair that sat silently in one another's company. Rin nodded in agreement, flashing pearly whites with that practiced smile. She had worn a simple made creamy pink cocktail dress, the zebra patterned top halted by a glittery belt that led to the tulle of her flowery skirt. Black flats were chosen since she hadn't ever been one for heels. A light coughing noise emitted and both heads turned to be greeted with the sight of the young tanned woman by the name of 'Ai'.
This young woman stood tall at Wesker's side, adorned in a sleeveless shimmering crème dress. The mermaid style, it had been called. The most important thing to her was how the fabric really assisted in emphasized the subtle curves of her petite frame. Glitter covered heels of three inches worn to put her practice to the test. She now stood almost an inch lower than her beloved, as opposed to being the tiniest of the trio. Her features dusted with the lightest hints of rouge and those pouty lips painted with a gentle salmon lipstick.
"Perfect."
Her heart skipped a beat as it always did in the presence of the formerly known 'Mad Man', grasping onto his right hand and securing it within her left. How long had she been waiting for this special moment to happen?
"Mr. Wesker. It is time."
An officer gave the small party an alert and bowed his head, leading them off towards the giant double doors. As the doors parted, Ai's smile widened and her brows knitted together in surprise, finding it so hard to blink back the dewy moisture of gathering tears. "You're so beautiful, hon. I can't believe I get to be the one to walk you." As Wesker made his way down the aisle, Rin looped her arm with the quietly crying Redfield and gave her a comforting squeeze. Today was the day that had been long awaited by the high school graduate. "Walk to me, Ai. Not with a test paper in hand, nor a question about your homework. No. Walk to me as…as my wife." He extended his hand and gazed lovingly towards Ai, who choked on a light sobbing noise and took hurried strides with her best friend.
Once they reached the bottom of the walkway, Ai took Albert's hand and stood pressed into his side. The priest gave all possible blessings to the two, overwhelmed with the feeling of borderline envy as he set his eyes on the couple. He then gave a quiet sigh, offering a gentle smile. When the aged blonde slid the golden band on her finger, she emitted another soft sob. It was finally happening. Just like she had always dreamed of it.
"You may now kiss your bride."
Ai then turned towards her dearly beloved and stood on the tips of her toes, Wesker's head craning for their lips to meet. No teeth or tongue. Only a passionate press that left her lips burning for more when she lowered her head. "I now pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Wesker." The elderly man hummed and bowed his head towards the newlyweds, offering the certificate towards the embarrassed former Redfield.
Of course, her parents wouldn't approve of this. But, she was her own woman. "Congrats, you two!" Rin chirped out and yanked the string of her popper, showering the couple in rainbow hued paper strings along with glitter.
"I do thank you very much so, Miss Rin. Hopefully soon, we shall see you walking the aisles in your very own dress." The blonde mentioned in a sardonic tone, only making both women softly slap his biceps. "Stupid. I'm here for you two. It's not all about me and I thought we all came to this unspoken agreement when I stepped in the car." She joined hands with Ai and the three began migrating towards the doors of the building, all chatting and laughing about idle things. "Hey. Is it all right if I call my parents? I…Just want to let them know that I am still alive and all." Ai mumbled and cast her glance at the ongoing traffic as they had emerged from the Court Hall. Pointing out a nearby payphone, the trio headed to it and Wesker provided his beautiful wife with a few coins. She lifted the phone to her ear, hesitantly tapping the digits of a familiar number. After a few rings, a terribly tired voice answered.
"Redfield residence. Sheva speaking."
Her breath caught in her throat as she heard the voice of her mother for the first time in years, unable to blink back the tears that spilled forth. " !" That soft soprano voice cracked and broke, subtle sobs hinting as her frame trembled in the grasp of Wesker. "Mom. I'm all right. I'm doing really well. I can't stay long because I know you're probably tracking this call but. I just wanted you and dad to know I love you so very much." With that, she hung up. It had been obvious that her mother was at a loss for words as well. They had presumed their daughter to be dead or worse since she hadn't attempted to make contact for the first year. Even though the Redfield's had been worn out from out traveling far and wide for any hope of a sighting, it had turned up fruitless.
"Chris! Chris!" The woman bellowed and began to dial up the man, her widened eyes prickling with fresh tears. Their daughter was alive! Most likely with Wesker, to her chagrin. But, they would get her back. There was no way that they would allow their daughter to live under the terrorism of that disgusting man.
"Chris. I have some news. You aren't going to believe this."
