"You son of a bitch!" Frost screamed as he realised the nurse outfit was just another one of the Joker's bastardy disguises. "I'll kill you for what you did to Maura!" Frost screamed, trying to escape the chains that held him to a hospital bed.
"Now, now. That is against hospital policy." The Joker let out a sigh as she sat down on the chair next to Frost.
The two just sat there for a few seconds, just staring at each other.
Both trying to ignore the obvious injuries to the other's face.
"Ya know, when people say ooo dude, you got burned! I think you took it a bit too literally." The Joker teased.
"You mother-"
"Language, the children's ward is only a feet away and…" the joker held up a remote with a red button "we wouldn't want to blow this out of proportion now would we?" Frost froze as he knew not to test the Joker, "now was that so hard? Basically, I think, you and me, need to have a real one and one chat. None of this political stand points, just good old, I'm sorry and you're sorry kinda thing. You go first."
"What the hell do I have to be sorry for?!" Frost yelled. The Joker tilted her head and almost looked sorry for Frost.
"Everything. You and your… people, we'll put it, let this batman run through Boston streets like he owned the place- or she, and you didn't do shit. You were happy to let someone else do your dirty work, to take out the garbage? While you all continued to let the desperate of Boston citizens continue to suffer, while we-" Joker realised she too was starting to shout as she found herself standing over Frost.
Letting out a heavy sigh, she sat back down on the chair and took one of Frost's hands. Ignoring the flinching, she rubbed one of her thumbs on his.
"Basically, it's both our faults. We let the batman take over. Agreed?" Joker paused as she looked at Frost, only to receive the slightest of nods. "Good. Now I'm sorry that you're girlfriend…"
"Maura!" Frost shouted.
"Maura, Maura. Right. Maura, got killed by those… sleeze bags. But I need you to know, I didn't plan that." The joker lied. "Of all the people the batman has saved, yet he fails to save one of the most efficient kinds of people in the courts. The medical examiner. The one Boston needs the most."
"If it wasn't for you, those sleeze bags would never have gone near her!" Frost retaliated.
"You really believe you're so safe? In your pent houses? All your money and friends won't mean shit when you're at the end of one of these," the Joker replied as she pulled out a rather large pistol.
Taking Frost's hand and wrapping it round the gun's handle and pushing the barrel into her own forehead, Joker looked right into Frost's eyes. "Now how safe to I feel at the moment? You kill me, you take away your chance of taking down the batman."
"What makes you so sure you can take down the batman?" Frost asked.
"Because I nearly did it before, all you need is a good piece of bait." Joker taunted, remembering how the batman had dropped everything once the joker had a certain detective hanging out of a window. "We could take down the batman together."
"Drop the gun Frost." A gravelly voice said by the hospital door.
"Oh my word," the Joker marvelled "you're a woman."
The batman remained silent, focused on Frost. The Joker didn't deserve death, she deserved long term therapy and prison.
"You bastard. You could have saved her!" Frost shouted from his hospital bed.
If Jane revealed Maura was still alive, the Joker would know, if she didn't….
"The Joker's lying to you. Like she has done to everyone. She doesn't need you. She wants to mess with you. She's the reason."
"Oh now why say such hurtful things?" The Joker teased as she stood up from the chair, batman quickly went into a fighting position only to stop suddenly at a detonation device being waved in the air. "Ah ah ah, don't be so quick to judge Batsie, I'm sure the kids would have a blast at this field day."
Bang!
For the first time, the Joker's smile seemed to drop as blood seeped through the white nurse outfit.
"Well… that's not funny… at all…" The joker wheezed out as she slowly fell to the floor.
"Boston PD! Open the door!" A voice shouted from behind the door.
Before anyone could react the door was smashed open. It happened so quickly.
One body on the floor.
One man with a gun.
And some black clothed freak standing in the room.
It was police instinct, Jane couldn't blame them from her own training. Shoot on sight, bullets whizzed around her.
Jane saw the bullet hit Frost through the chest and Jane leaped behind the hospital bed as she throw a smoke bomb as a distraction and made her exit through the window.
Batman flew through the streets of Boston, ignoring the bruised chest she felt from the impact of a bullet.
Frost was dead. The joker was dead. Batman was going to be the cause of all this.
Suddenly she heard a beep in her headset.
"Jane, they've called a shoot on sight for the batman." Maura's voice on the other end of the line said with a scared voice.
"I know." Jane admitted as she continued to fly through Boston.
"So what are you going to do?" Maura asked, annoyed that Jane was giving her details.
"Disappear, they can hunt down the batman… but how are they going to hunt down Jane Rizzoli?" Jane asked rhetorically. "Didn't you want to go to Egypt?" Jane asked, perplexing Maura with such a question.
"Yes, but why-"
"I think this time of year is a good time to go." Jane replied with a smile as she began to descended into an alley near Korsak's place.
"I'll book the tickets now." Maura replied.
