AN: So I know it's been forever and a day since I've updated, but hey, I hope I've been keeping you entertained with my other stories in the meantime. Anyways, quick recap of last chapter; Fitz and Olivia meet each other's mothers and it went horribly. This chapter picks up three weeks later. Enjoy ;)

"What's your schedule looking like for the week?" Fitz asked Olivia as he walked her to the front door.

She had been spending the night over at his place almost every night of the week for past three weeks. It had gotten to the point where she had his two top drawers and a section in his closet for her clothes. All of her hair products cluttered his bathroom countertops and she even had a shelf in his refrigerator for things that she specifically ate and didn't want him touching. They had gotten into a comfortable routine. Because she had a key, after work, no matter if he was home or not, she'd let herself in and start making dinner for them. By making, she meant ordering. When he got home, he would greet her, take a shower, then come and sit down for dinner where they would discuss their day. It was comfortable, it was familiar, it was everything that she wanted in a relationship. It was too perfect and she was starting to retreat, afraid that if she didn't he'd tire of her.

Olivia was terrified that they were moving way too fast. The meeting with their mothers went horribly and she still hadn't been able to resolve that fiasco. And to top it off, every time she tried to talk to mother, she would bring up valid reasons for Olivia to slow down and pump the brakes. Namely being the fact that not too long ago, she was in a marriage with a man that she vowed to spend her entire life with. And now here she was, not even five months later, practically vowing to do the same thing all over again and she was afraid. She was afraid that her relationship with Fitz was going to end in the same way as hers and Jake's and because of that, she was pulling away.

"I'm not sure yet, but I think I'm scheduled for a couple of doubles. I think that I should start spending nights at my place so that I can get some rest," she joked though she was completely serious about them spending time apart.

"You can stay here. I promise to let you rest," Fitz said, nuzzling her neck and voiding his statement.

She gently pushed him away from her and took a step back, keeping the smile in place. "I'm serious Fitz. I feel like I've encroached on your space, plus I'm still paying rent for my place and I should at least be there once in a while so that I'm not wasting my money."

"Okay, how about for the next week or so we stay at your place then start switching off nights until we decide on a more permanent living situation," he suggested, practically implying that they should move in together.

"I think that I should spend a few days by myself," she said as gently as she could. "You know that saying that absence makes the heart grow fonder. Maybe I should give you a chance to miss me."

She could tell by his face that he was not feeling this idea. She knew that he would see this for exactly what it was, her pulling away again when she promised him that she wouldn't. She hated going back on her word, but felt it necessary to keep the relationship going. If she was being completely honest, she would admit that it wasn't that she didn't like the living situation, she liked it too much. She was still waiting for the other shoe to drop and instead of talking to him about it, she dropped the shoe herself.

"Olivia, is something wrong?" Fitz asked, feeling the distance between them growing.

"No, I just want a little time away from you," she told him, kicking herself for the word choice.

"Um, ok. If you feel like you need space, then I'll give it to you," he conceded, his shoulders slumped and his head hanging low. "It's not like I haven't before," he mumbled low so that she couldn't hear him.

"I'll see you later, ok?" she said, thinking later would be in a couple of days.

She leaned in to kiss him goodbye, but at the last moment he turned his head and her lips grazed his cheek. She felt the sting of rejection and realized that that was likely how he felt when she said she needed space. Taking his head in her palms, she directed his face to her and took the kiss that she wanted from the beginning. He resisted for a few moments, not responding at all until she pushed her tongue into his mouth.

"Fitz, this isn't me breaking up with you. I promise, ok? I love you and I want to be with you, I just need a little space," she told him, looking him directly in the eyes.

"Ok. I love you, too. See you in a few days." He gave her a forced smile and backed up so that he could close the door.

She wanted to say more, but he didn't give her the opportunity. The wooden door between them cut her off from seeing how he truly felt about her self-imposed exile. She felt like a bitch but she didn't know what else to do. She wanted to be around him all the time but was scared that he was going to start feeling like she was clingy. In the beginning of her and Jake's relationship, he was always around, texting her constantly and not giving her any personal time. She was often annoyed with him because of it and she didn't want Fitz to feel that way towards her. Shaking her head, she left his apartment and went to work, thinking that maybe a few days was too long to be away from him.

"I haven't spoken with him in nearly a week," Olivia huffed as she sat down with Abby at a restaurant near Abby's apartment.

What was supposed to be two days, three at most, turned into six without barely any contact whatsoever. The first two days flew by because she had to work doubles and was literally too exhausted to do anything but crawl into bed and sleep. When she finally awoke from her coma, she figured that she'd give Fitz a call to see if he wanted to meet up for dinner later. He hadn't answered so she left a message and went to take a shower. When she got out, she had a text message from him saying he was busy for the rest of the week and would try to contact her on Saturday. He hadn't.

"And whose fault is that?" Abby asked as she took a bite of her salad.

"I didn't think that when I said I needed space that that meant I wouldn't talk to him at all. All I wanted was a night or two alone in my own bed."

"So why don't you call him?" Abby asked, thinking the entire ordeal was childish.

"I have, but he never answers. We've been caught in a never ending game of phone tag and I swear Cyrus has it out for us because we have completely opposite schedules," Olivia sighed, pushing the food on her plate around with her fork.

She missed Fitz more than she cared to admit. She missed his laugh, his smile, the warmth of his arms. She missed how after a long day of working, he would take her feet into his lap and massage the aches away. She missed cuddling on the sofa and watching a movie or talking about patients and what they could've done differently in certain situations. Most of all she missed how even after working long shifts, he would come in in the wee hours of the morning and pull her close, murmuring how happy he was to be home with her and how much he loved her. She just missed him period.

"Well you have a key don't you? Go over there. Look, you guys are too old to be playing these high school games. Olivia you need to show that man that you love him and are serious about your future together before he finds someone else that is," Abby advised, sick of having this same conversation with her friend.

"You're right. It's just, I've never experienced love like this and instead of diving in head first, I'm testing the temperature with my pinky toe," Olivia tried to explain. "I don't want to get hurt and I don't want to hurt him. But I don't want him to wake up one morning and decide that he doesn't love me anymore like I did with Jake."

"Olivia, you've already admitted that you've never felt this for Jake and it's obvious that Fitz is over the moon for you. What you two have is forever, but that's only if you're willing to own it."

"You're right as always. I'm sorry for bothering you with my constant worrying," Olivia smiled sheepishly.

"It's okay. In fact, I've been seriously considering going into psychiatry. It turns out I have a knack for being in people's business," Abby joked.

"I would be your first client," Olivia laughed back.

"Btw, a little birdie may have told me that Fitz is off tonight at five, and would you look at that, it's 4:30 now. If he were my man, I would be there when he got home, spread out naked on the couch with a come hither smile on my face," Abby told her friend.

"Well for this information, tell this little birdie that I owe her lunch but that I need to go and get ready for my man," Olivia said with a newfound pep. She threw a few bills on the table, air kissed Abby's cheeks, then rushed out of the restaurant.

"You are too good Whelan," Abby murmured, patting herself on the back.

On her way to Fitz's, traffic stalled her, the cars in front of her moving only at a snail's pace. Since Fitz lived near the hospital she knew that there would be no way she would beat him home. She banged her fist on the horn, honking for long moments before finally letting up. Maybe she should call him so that he'd be expecting her. But no, she didn't want to ruin the surprise. Inch by inch she moved closer to her exit and nearer to Fitz. Finally, over an hour later, she arrived.

She parked her car and hopped out, quickly rushing to Fitz's building. She jabbed the button for the elevator, debating on whether or not to take the stairs when it finally arrived. She pressed the button for his floor and when she got off, she dug her key out of her purse and opened the door. The first thing that hit her was the smell of food and the sound of music. Perhaps the same little birdie that told Abby he'd be off at this time told Fitz that Olivia was on her way. She was just about to announce herself when she heard a female voice.

"Oh, Fitz. You're so funny," the female voice laughed.

Mellie.

One, Fitz wasn't that funny. Okay, he was funny, but he wasn't funny. Two, what the hell was Mellie doing in her home. So what it was Fitz's home, she practically lived there. But either way, this bitch shouldn't be here. It had only been a week and he was already moving on. Putting her purse down by the door, she rounded the corner to the open living room slash kitchen area and crossed her arms, waiting for one of them to acknowledge her presence. Mellie was perched up on one of the bar stools while Fitz had his back to them cooking at the stove.

"Well I figured you could use a laugh," Fitz said, turning to face Mellie and seeing Olivia in the process.

"Really? I think I could use a laugh right about now, too, Fitz," Olivia said, her tone anything but friendly.

"Olivia, it's not what it looks like," Fitz tried to defend.

"Oh is that so? Because it looks like you're cooking for Mellie in our home and who knows what else you've done while I've been away," Olivia fumed.

He just shook his head, not even trying to defend himself anymore. She could tell he was pissed. "So now it's our home, because a week ago, you wanted nothing to do with me."

Mellie just sat back and watched the argument unfold, smirking to herself as she watched Olivia self- destruct. This was going to be easier than she thought it was going to be. She had noticed Fitz moping around the ER lately and knew that he and Olivia were on the outs. Today, she was given an opening and she took it, hoping that tonight would be the first of many between them.

"I told you I needed a couple of days. That doesn't give you license to go out and cheat on me," Olivia damn near yelled, moving closer to where he was standing in the kitchen.

"What was I supposed to do? Wait for you to come back only for you to need more time two weeks later?" Fitz asked, the heat of the moment getting the better of him.

Olivia gave a little chuckle although nothing about this was funny. Throwing her hands up, she started back towards the door. "You know what, fuck it. You're right, don't wait for me."

"Olivia, wait stop. I didn't mean that," Fitz called after her, chasing her to the door.

"No, that's the thing. You did mean it," Olivia said, quickening her steps while trying to keep the tears at bay. "I knew this wasn't going to work out," she mumbled to herself.

She was out the door and walking down the hall towards the elevators, then thinking better of it, she decided to take the stairs. She was down the first flight and she could hear Fitz's heavy footsteps as he tried to catch up to her. She was on the landing of the second flight when he passed her and blocked her path. She turned to go out the door that lead out to the tenth floor, but he grabbed her arm and gently but firmly pushed her against the wall and boxed her in, putting both arms up on either side of her head.

"Today a kid came in with bruises covering his little body and a gash three inches wide in the back of his head. It was obvious that he was abused and Mellie and I did everything we could to save him. In the end it wasn't enough and he died as I did CPR and Mellie held his hand. It was hard on both of us so I figured we could both use a break and I offered to cook for us. That's it," Fitz explained even though at this point, he didn't think that she deserved one.

She softened a little at hearing his explanation, knowing how hard it was to lose a patient, especially a child. Fitz really took things like that to heart and while it didn't happen often, every time it did, Olivia was always there to comfort him. Call her selfish, but she hated to think that another woman got to do that for him.

"Why didn't you call me?" Olivia asked softly, cupping his face with her palm.

"Because I didn't think that you wanted to be bothered," Fitz scoffed, backing off her and turning away.

"Fitz," Olivia called out to him, needing him to turn around and look at her. "Baby," she softened her voice even more but he still didn't turn around.

She went to him instead, finally realizing that that's exactly what he needed. He needed to feel wanted by her, for her to at least make the effort to meet him half way. She wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned her head on his back, kissing his shoulder blade.

"I'm so sorry for leaving you like that. I truly didn't mean to make you feel rejected. I love you more than anything and I didn't know how to handle it," she spoke into his back.

"But how many times are you gonna use that as an excuse? You think that I've felt this way about someone else? No. But you don't see me leaving do you?" Fitz accused without turning around.

"That's the difference between me and you. You're so confident, but coming from a failed marriage, I'm a little more hesitant," she tried to explain.

"Well you'd think you'd have a little more faith since I'm a big reason for why your marriage failed," he joked to lighten the mood.

"I just don't ever want to be without you and to save myself from you getting tired of me, I put space between us."

Finally turning around, he kissed her soundly on the mouth. She moaned and let his tongue in, pushing hers done his throat in return. God she missed him. Twisting her fingers in his curls and pulling him closer, she nipped at his bottom lip before going back in. He grabbed handfuls of her ass and pulled her closer, right up against the hard bar of his erection.

"Does this feel like I'd ever get tired of you?" he asked, his voice gruff. She swallowed hard, ready to beg him to take her against the wall. He leaned down and kissed her again before backing up again. "You have to have faith in me. That's the only way this is going to work."

"I know and I'll try my best not to get scared," Olivia said, ducking her head.

He lifted her chin so that he could look in her eyes. "I'm not saying don't get scared. Being in love can be a scary thing sometimes. All I'm saying is that when you feel this way, talk to me instead of running." She nodded her head confirming that she heard him. "Alright, now I gotta go. Mellie is waiting for me."

If it hadn't been for the smirk on his face that let her know he said that just to get under her skin, she would've went off. She just smirked back and grabbed the end of his shirt, tugging him close. When he bent to capture her lips again, she turned his head sideways and attached her mouth to his neck. She sucked his skin deep and hard, biting him to top off what she was trying to achieve. When she pulled back, her goal had been reached. He had a mark that was dark and red and would last for days.

"Let her know that you're mine," she told him, then turned to the door with an extra sway in her hips. "And when you're done with her, I'll be waiting," she threw over her shoulder and left him standing there.

Fitz stood there for a few more minutes, not exactly sure what just happened. All he knew was that he and Olivia had a lot of making up to do and it would start as soon as he could get rid of Mellie. He headed back to his apartment, tempted to crook his neck so that she could see, loving the fact that Olivia marked him as hers, but decided to play it cool.

"Hey, Mellie, sorry about that. Did the food burn?" He asked as he moved towards the stove.

"Um, no. I checked on it. And it's no problem, we all go through breakups," she said sweetly.

He laughed out loud at that and turned to fully face her. Immediately her eyes went to the golf ball sized bruise on his neck and realized that he and Olivia hadn't broken up and were indeed still together. A look passed in her eyes, almost like disappoint, shock, and anger. He supposed now that it wasn't such a great idea to invite her to dinner. Had he thought that she had designs on him, he wouldn't have, but from their past encounters, he figured that she just barely tolerated his presence.

"We didn't breakup. We're fine. Listen, do you mind if we cut this short?" He asked, already turning off the burners.

"Uh, sure…"she said, though she didn't exactly have a choice.

She thought that they were making progress, that they were on to something. Especially after today. Mellie had barely gotten into the ER break room when she broke down, that young boy's battered body getting to her like nothing had. She had a reputation for being an Ice Queen so when Fitz had come in, she quickly tried to recover. But then he rubbed her back and told her it was ok, that stuff like that happened. And she felt something for him. Something other than lust and irritation at seeing his handsome face. She felt a flicker of a connection. And she let the floodgates open, crying on his shoulder for long minutes and he just held her. And when he invited her to dinner, saying that he was worried her about being alone, she accepted his invitation hoping that they could go further. But she now realized that he was just being friendly. Well she didn't want friendly, she wanted him and Mellie always got what she wanted.

Olivia had just finished changing her clothes when she heard the knock at the door. She smiled to herself, thinking that he wouldn't come by for a few more hours. She took her time getting to the door, still not completely over him being all chummy with Mellie, but getting there. She opened the door to see him leaning against the frame looking way better than he had any right to.

"Well, well, well Mr. Grant. I didn't expect you so soon. It's been what," she paused to check her watch, "forty- five minutes? Did your guest even get to eat?" she asked, a smile on her face as she leaned on the other side.

"I'm sure she stopped at McDonald's on her way home," Fitz smirked back.

"And what about you? Have you eaten yet?" The energy between them was live and reminded her of how they used to be before her insecurities took over.

"Not yet, but I plan on eating something really soon," he told her, his innuendo making her belly quiver. Picking her up, he walked further into the apartment and kicked the door close with his foot.

They weren't going to make it to her bedroom. He lowered them to the floor two feet from the door. He tugged off her leggings without preamble and buried his face in her pantie covered slit. She moaned and arched her back, her pussy weeping for him. He hooked two fingers on the edge of her panties and pulled them aside. Her clit was swollen and straining for attention. She arched her hips again, groaning his name when all he did was graze his bottom lip against her soaked flesh.

"You're so wet baby…so ready for me," he spoke against her, pinning her pumping hips to the floor.

She bit her lip, trying hard to keep from begging him to lick her. He skimmed his finger around her entrance then swiped upward to her bud. He was toying with her on purpose, making her need him more than she already did.

"Did you miss me, baby?" Fitz asked, licking her once.

"God, yes…missed you so much," she moaned and tugged off her shirt and bra.

His hands went to the inside of her thighs, spreading her more for him. He grunted low in his throat then dug in. Her spine curved so much that her torso lifted up off the ground. She screamed as he created a vacuum seal over her clit, his tongue flicking against her as he sucked. Her eyes rolled back into her skull and her toes curled into themselves, her mouth hanging open as she gasped for breath. Her nails were digging into his scalp and before she could break skin, he moved her hands to her nipples. She began tweaking and twisting them between her thumb and forefinger, the pleasure pain pushing her closer to the edge. When he inserted two hooked fingers into her pussy, going straight for her g-spot, she came, stiffening and falling back a she shook like she was having a seizure.

Before she could recover, he was positioning her for his entrance. When he'd gotten naked, she had no clue. He got to his knees and slung her right leg over his shoulder. Pulling her closer so that her lower body was in his lap, her curved left leg around his waist then entered her. He was so deep, almost too deep, she whimpered as he kept going.

"Too much…" she moaned, putting a hand to his hip to stop him.

He had never taken her at this angle before and she could feel him brushing her cervix, butting right up against her womb and stretching her walls wide. He pulled halfway out and then pushed back in, sawing his way in and out of her heat until she was calling out for more. This time she didn't stop him as he bottomed out, the base of his cock bumping her clit and sending shockwaves straight to her taut nipples. She cried out as he did it again and again, stopping every third stroke to swivel his hips. She squeezed him, clamping down on his cock every time he ground against her nubbin.

"Fitz…you're gonna make me come," she groaned, her voice sounding like pure sex.

He pumped faster, trying his hardest to get her to her peak before he came. He let down her leg and took her hips in his hands, slamming into her harder and harder as she moaned for more. He could feel her start to quiver around him, her pussy soaking his cock as she came hard. Her head dug into the floor and the arch of her exposed neck called to him. He sucked on her pulse point, determined to make a mark that mirrored the one he had. He pushed her to another orgasm before he finally succumbed to his, his teeth clamping down on her skin as he shook on top of her.

"Don't leave me like that again," he spoke against her throat some minutes later, still shuddering.

"I won't. I promise," she said as sincerely as she could while stroking his hair.

"You've made that promise before," he reminded her, sitting up and pulling out.

"I know, baby, and I'm sorry. But I won't leave again, I can't," she told him, looking straight in his eyes.

"Ok. I believe you."

She didn't know how quite to bring up the subject and while she didn't want to ruin the moment, she figured that she'd get it out of the way now. "Fitz, while I trust you and know that you'll never cheat on me, I want you to be careful around Mellie. I don't like the way she looks at you," she warned.

"I know, but you have nothing to worry about. I'll talk to her on Monday and make sure that she knows that we're just colleagues."

"Thank you. Now take me to bed, I'm worn out," she giggled and held her arms out so that he could pick her up.

The phone ringing woke Olivia up. Glancing at the clock, she saw that it was ten in the morning. Fitz had ridden her well into the night, saying that he needed to make up for the time lost. Every time he reached for her she had gone to him willingly and on occasion, she reached for him, needing to feel him in a way she couldn't explain. Stretching her sore limbs, she yawned and reached for her cell phone. Looking at the screen, she saw that it was her mother.

"Good morning, Mom," Olivia greeted, still a bit groggy.

"Good morning sweet pea. I was calling to remind you that we have a brunch appointment at eleven and I'm happy that I did because it sounds like you just woke up. I thought that you didn't have to work last night?" her mother asked, her tone suggestive.

Shit. Olivia had completely forgotten that she told her mom that she would go out with her this morning. She was just about to tell her mother that she'd be there soon when Fitz groaned and pulled her closer to him. She was met with his solid chest and she had to bit her lip to stop from moaning. He felt too good and she was so comfortable.

"Mom, I can't make it today. I'm going to spend the day with Fitz," she told her, smiling as she looked back at the sleeping man behind her.

"With Fitz? You're blowing me off for him? I thought that you two were on a break?" her mother accused, sounding hurt.

Olivia regretted venting to her mother, wishing she could take back the conversation that they had a few days ago. It was that conversation that led to them making plans, her mother deciding that they could commiserate in their loneliness. That was then and this was now, however, and Olivia was no longer lonely. Still, she felt bad for leaving her mother hanging.

"I don't have to work on Wednesday, we can do dinner then," Olivia said, keeping her voice low so that she wouldn't wake Fitz.

"I don't understand why you're so caught up with this man. Jake was so much better," Patricia said offhandedly.

"Mom, I'm going to say this one time and one time only; I'm not, nor will I ever will be getting back together with Jake. I'm in love with Fitz and I don't want to hear about Jake. I made a mistake by coming to you with my relationship problems, something I won't be doing again, but I'd appreciate it if you kept your comments to yourself from now on. If you wish to continue to speak to Jake, by all means, go ahead, but do not bring him up to me because I have moved on with my life," Olivia said, feeling better now that she'd gotten that off her chest.

"I don't know what has gotten into you Olivia, but I am still your mother and you will not talk to me that way," Patricia scolded.

"I'm not trying to disrespect you, Mom, but I am a grown woman and its time you let me live my life without your constant opinions. I hope that one day you and Fitz will get along, but if you can't, that's not going to change the fact that I love him," Olivia said, changing her tone to a calmer one.

Olivia could hear her mother take a deep breath on the other end, seemingly trying to decide where to proceed from her. Olivia hoped that she made it clear that things would not be changing and that Fitz was going to be in her life for the long haul. She was going to marry this man, have his babies, and by the way he was making her feel, perhaps do something crazy like move to Vermont and make jam for him whenever he asked.

"Fine. Perhaps we got off to a bad start last time. You said we could have dinner on Wednesday, well bring him along and I promise to be on my best behavior. If he's that important to you, I should at least make an effort to get to know him," Patricia conceded begrudgingly.

"Thank you, Mom. That's all I ask. Now, if you excuse me, I was enjoying my day off by sleeping in and would like to get back to that," Olivia said with a light laugh.

"Mmmm hmmm…I remember when I would have to sleep in because your father kept me up all night," Patricia laughed back. "Tell Fitz I said good morning."

"Ewww, gross," Olivia remarked, happy that her mother was finally coming around. "I love you, Mom. I'll talk to you later."

"Bye, sweet pea."

"How's your mother doing?" Fitz asked from behind her, his voice scratchy from sleep.

"She's fine. She say's hello. And by the way, we're having dinner with her on Wednesday," she squeezed in the last little bit as fast as she could.

"Yippee," he cheered with sarcasm in his voice.

"Don't be like that, Fitz. She says she's going to try this time."

"Well if she tries, I'll try," Fitz bargained.

"That's all I can ask," she said, then snuggled in closer and fell back asleep. He had worn her out after all.

AN: So Olivia ran again, much like her character in the show. She gets scared and she runs. But this time it didn't last long and thanks to Dr. Abby, she was able to see the error of her ways and quickly recover from her mini breakdown. But how many more breaks will Fitz take before he calls it quits? Is she going to get cold feet again? Idk, I haven't thought that far. How many think her past relationship with Jake (her only real relationship) is fair game in deciding how to proceed with her current relationship? How many compare their current partner with past boyfriends/girlfriends? Anyways, leave me a review telling me what you thought.

P.S: If you haven't already, or are too scared too, check out Uhuru. Its a look at how Olivia and Fitz's relationship would go if they were in 1856 and Olivia is a slave and Fitz is the slave master's son. I promise that while it is true to times and can be hard to read at times, it's well worth it. For those that already read Uhuru, I should have a post up by Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest, depending on how long it takes for me to finish editing my last essay of the semester.
