Disclaimer: I sadly still don't own Harry Potter
One Unforgettable Year
Chapter 32
Epilogue
This was it. This was the big day that they had been waiting for ever since he proposed. Hermione stood before her full length mirror, all ready and prettied up in her wedding dress. A simple white dress with embroidered flowers on it which were the same colour as the beautiful white dress, two fairly thick straps holding it on her. Her hair was done up like it had been at the Yule Ball to her soon-to-be-husbands request, he had claimed that was the night he had realized his attraction to her and came to terms with it.
Smoothing out her dress in a nervous manner Hermione looked at herself in the mirror. Ginny and Lavender had done her make-up, not that they had done much because Draco had told them he liked Hermione as natural as possible.
Humming to herself as she adjusted her infinity necklace ever so slightly she couldn't believe it was actually happening.
She was marrying Draco Malfoy.
She couldn't help the smile that fell on her lips at that thought. After everything they went through this is where they ended up. All the taunting from Draco in the younger years, the fiasco with Ron and all the other dramas that their relationship brought about. Everything had finally settled and now it was time for Hermione and Draco to move onto the rest lives. With each other.
Hermione adjusted a wild hair as she remembered everything that she and Draco went through. She couldn't wait to go down that aisle and to finally stop Draco from introducing her has his fiancée but instead his wife.
Grinning to herself trying to refrain herself from jumping with glee Hermione exited her room and went to find her father and Bridesmaids.
Draco's left foot was jumping up and down in pure excited nerves. He checked his watch and saw that in a few minutes he would be getting married. He couldn't stop the grin forming even if he had wanted to.
Blaise stood to his left of course as his best man and laughed at Draco's fidgeting no doubt knowing how anxious his best friend was to see his girl.
Thankfully Draco soon got his wish as music came alive around them. Draco's eyes quickly rooted to the entrance of the hall. He watched as the Bridesmaid's came down the aisle all pretty and smiling. He had been somewhat surprised when Hermione asked Tuesday to be one of them but incredibly happy she had, he knew it meant a lot to Tuesday and it had started a rather fierce and loyal friendship between them.
Ginny was of course the maid of honour and Draco half smirked when he saw Potter go all doe eyed for her. He didn't blame him though she looked rather pretty in the long silver halter bridesmaids dress Hermione had picked out for them.
Lavender was the last bridesmaid to come down and Draco quickly glanced at Blaise to see him eyeing his girl up and down. Draco smirked fully and stifled a laugh at the ravenous look Blaise was giving his girlfriend. No doubt Blaise and Lavender would mysteriously disappear later on.
Draco briefly wondered if he and Hermione could too when his thoughts were cut off at the sight before him.
His heart constricted painfully in his chest but he welcomed it because looking like perfection personified Hermione walked down the aisle. To him.
Words couldn't describe how happy he was that this was happening. That he was marrying Hermione Granger. She was always beautiful to him even when she was wearing baggy old clothing she liked to wear when she was feeling stressed. There were a few times though that she really knocked the breathe out of him. The Yule Ball, the Christmas Ball that happened a few months ago during their last year and now.
This was without a doubt the most beautiful he had seen her and he was thankful that he had been smart enough to get his head out of his arse long enough to get to know the beautiful witch in front of him and fall in love with her.
The wedding was a strange experience for Draco, it went in one ear and out the other; his vows though from the heart were just an automatic response. He was so caught up in the beauty that was Hermione that he didn't really take into account what was happening. Yet he knew that in many years' time when they were old and grey and their children were old and grey that he wouldn't have forgotten a single thing that happened here today.
It felt like seconds when it was declared that he may now kiss the bride and grinning widely at the word 'bride' Draco's arm flung out and pulled Hermione flush against him as he swooped down and passionately kissed his wife. They broke away both smiling as everyone clapped and jeered for them.
They walked back down the aisle and not long after they were once again wrapped up in each other as they danced their first dance.
"Guess I can't call you Granger anymore then?" Draco said smiling softly at her.
"It'd technically be wrong so no but at least I can still call you Malfoy when you're being a right prat." She told him grinning back at him.
"I'd be offended at you calling me a prat on our wedding day, Granger if it wasn't a true statement." He teased using her former last name. Hermione merely laughed at him as they continued to dance their way round the hall.
Soon all couples were joining them both new and old not that Hermione nor Draco could tell you who they were as they were too focused on each other.
It wasn't long before Draco was taking the garter off a blushing Hermione has he did so with his teeth. Grinning wickedly he flung it into the crowd and Hermione tossed the bouquet to the crowd as well.
Ginny and Harry had grabbed her into a hug just before Draco and Hermione set off to their honeymoon. Her mother had been crying as she had hugged her too just before Ginny and Harry, her father although he wasn't shedding any tears Hermione could see them in his eyes.
Draco helped Hermione onto the horse drawn carriage that would take them to a nearby hotel where they had been staying the past few days. They would grab their bags and floo to their honeymoon destination which Draco had yet to tell Hermione its location.
Arriving into the fancy hotel that overlooked a very blue beach (Hermione guessed they were somewhere in the Mediterranean) Draco wrapped his arms around his new wife and gently kissed her cheek.
"Well that was one unforgettable year, ey Granger?" Hermione smiled at him and turned around to throw her arms around his neck. She nodded her reply and pulled her husband into a passionate kiss.
One unforgettable year indeed.
