Chapter 9

Jellal and Erza

~Jellal~

Jellal tightly held the necklace Master Marakov had given him. He took it carefully out of his pocket and examined it again. The silver chain complemented the white pearls that it held. In the middle was a silver sword with a heart outlined around it. It was girly, yet it had a slight masculine look to it. It was something that fit Erza perfectly. He then, put it down and took off his necklace, which was almost identical to the other one, and set it down next to Erza's. He looked closely at the two. His was gold and hers was silver. The matching set would make her absolutely happy. He then remembered what the necklace's purpose was and remembered what had caused Marakov to give him the necklaces in the first place.

~(flashback)~

"I'm sorry," Marakov told Jellal, "we can't do that just yet. As you said, there is probably more to this than you know."

"Why not?"

Marakov handed a pendant to Jellal. "Take this. It will hold back Zeref temporarily. There is someone I need to consult before the two of you go."

Jellal took the pendant and put it on his pocket. There was then a loud crashing sound coming from the guild bar. Jellal flinched and became panicked.

Marakov waved it off. "There's nothing to be worried about. This happens all the time. It's normal." He saw the concerned look on Jellal's face and laughed. "You can go check it out of you want." His face grew serious again, "Come back later and we will discuss this more."

Jellal nodded in agreement and walked out of the office.

"Come back here and fight me you, stupid baka, so I can tear your limbs off one by one and watch you scream in agony!" Erza, fully armed, charged toward Gajeel, her eyes full of hatred and rage. Gajeel calmly blocked her as he made his way to the exit.

"You're out of your head, Erza," He said through clenched teeth, "take a chill pill and calm down!"

"What if I don't want to?" She challenged.

"Erza!" Jellal called in panic. He had never seen her like this before.

Erza turned around, her fiery eyes staring right at him. "What do you want?" she said coldly. "Can't you see that I'm in the middle of something?"

"Hey blue haired guy!" Gajeel called from behind him. "You have to calm her down! She has gone crazy!"

Erza ignored Gajeel and continued to stare at Jellal. "There's something weird about you," she concluded. "You give off both a good and evil aura." She walked closer to him. "You can't make up your mind or something?" she laughed. Erza continued to get closer, a creepy grin grew on her face. "Come with me Jellal, together, we can resurrect Zeref!"

Jellal's eyes grew wide. No, no no. How could this have happened? How could she have been possessed? No, not Erza. This is impossible. "Erza…" Jellal slowly reached out his hand to lightly stroke her cheek, in disbelief that his sweet and loving Erza could be one in the same with this evil, corrupt, and quite insane Erza that he had met just a few moments ago. Was this how she saw him when he was possessed?

Erza took note of his actions and slapped his hand away before he had the chance to touch her face. She gave him an icy stare, as he stood frozen, in fear of what he had just realized.

"Who said you could touch my face?" she growled.

"Erza…?" jellal said. He reached out again but his hand was greeted with another slap.

"Don't touch me!" she yelled.

He reached out once more and hugged her tightly. Surprised by his actions, Erza thrashed, hit and screamed, asking him to let go, and challenging him to a bloody fight to the death. but that only made him hold her tighter. He didn't want to lose her. Not now, not ever. No matter what she became, he would love her. After all, that's what she did for him right?

Deep in thought about Erza, Jellal didn't even notice that she had gone quiet. When he realized this, he looked to find her unconscious with her head on his shoulder. The sudden movement woke her and she slowly opened her eyes.

"Jellal…?" she said quietly. She then realized that everyone's eyes were on her and quickly pushed Jellal way. She felt her face turn red. "Theres nothing to see here! Carry on, carry on." But everyone's stayed locked on her. Then, she saw the damage that had been done to the guild. "Oh my, who did this?"

Jellal was confused. "You mean you don't remember?"

"Did… I do this…?" she asked surprised.

"You really don't remember, do you?" he questioned her.

"I was waiting for cake and then…" She blushed, "You… and me…" Her face was as red as a cherry.

Master Marakov, who had witnessed the entire thing, motioned for Jellal to come back to his office.

"I'll need that pendant back." He told Jellal.

"Why?" Jellal asked.

"I never thought that this day would come or, that it would happen in my own guild."

"What happen?"

"The legend of the two lovers who are possessed by Zeref: The Doomed Couple of Zeref."

"Wait, what?" Jellal was confused. "You mean…"

"Yes," Marakov answered. He took Jellal's pendant and exchanged it for two necklaces; a boy's and a girl's. "I don't really know much about it myself, but you two are possibly the two that fit what little I know about it. Give one to you and one to Erza. It will suppress Zeref until you get to your destination."

"Our destination?"

"You need to go to the Universal Library of Magic to seek help. Both of you."

~(End of Flashback)~

Jellal looked outside the window of the hotel room. Dawn was approaching and they both needed to be on their way. They had been on the road for almost two weeks and they were less than half way there.

He got up and packed all of his belongings, except the necklaces. Today, he would give Erza hers.

~Natsu~

Natsu couldn't believe how stupid he was to have let Lucy out of his sight. He knew where she was and he knew there would be trouble. Loki was waiting back at the cave in case Lucy had come back. It was too cold for anyone to be running around. It was the middle of winter for crying out loud! Why was Lucy so stupid?

He stopped to catch his breath. That's when he saw her. Lisanna. Natsu ran faster and faster. She was there. Right there, in his grasp. The girl he loved. He was so focused on Lisanna, that he didn't even notice the unconscious girl in her arms.
