Chapter 13
Reunion
~Lisanna~
The three most magical words on Earth were "I love you." Having them said to her, Lisanna's breath was taken away. Natsu loved her? Still? After all these years? Just thinking about it made her heart pound, as she could still feel the warmth from Natsu's embrace surrounding her body like sunlight. She thought about the confession, how he had hugged her so tightly, and began to feel her face become hot.
She looked over as Natsu. The three of them, Elina, Natsu, and herself, were going to the guild to tell everyone what had happened within the past month. Natsu caught her looking at him and she could tell her face was florid with about a hundred shades of red.
"What?" Natsu asked, "Are you sick?" He said noticing her red face.
"o-Oh," Lisanna said, "No, I'm just a little hot."
"Hot?" He looked concerned. "In the middle of the winter? Lisanna, It's snowing! How could you possibly be hot? You're not even wearing a jacket!"
"Well, neither are you" She pointed out.
"That's because I'm Natsu and I can do whatever I want. Plus, I'm burning hot all the time."
"Whatever." She huffed letting all of her mushy lovey dovey thoughts leave her brain, along with her good mood.
"You, look sick." He told her. "Maybe you shouldn't visit everyone today. We can wait until you're better. I can take you home and go to the guild afterwards." He grabbed her hand and started walking in a different direction, probably wondering where he would take her.
Lisanna yanked her hand away bitterly. "For the last time Natsu, I am NOT sick! I haven't seen Mira-nee and Elf-nii in three years! I want to go to them and tell them that I am, in fact, not dead and that two of our guild members are stuck in a cave in the meadow, in which one of them is unconscious and has severe wounds!"
Natsu looked surprised at her sudden outburst. He opened his mouth, but then shut it quickly, as if he had something to say but had decided it wasn't the best time to make a risky comment.
Lisanna turned back in the direction of the guild and stalked off. No one was going to stop her from seeing her family.
~Levy~
Levy walked with Wendy back to Wendy's dorm room. She wondered what Gray was saying to Juvia. Was it something pleasant or heartbreaking? It didn't take too long to figure out. As she waited for Wendy to unlock the door, Gray and Juvia walked out into the hallway, laughing happily. Her tears were gone and her face was filled with joy. If only she could be that way with Gajeel. Gajeel. She hadn't even told him why she was mad. The poor idiot was probably still wondering what he did wrong.
"Hey Wendy?" She asked.
"Yeah?"
"I think I am going to go talk to Gajeel."
Wendy smiled. "That would be great! I hope everything turns out well!"
…
Levy walked confidently into the guild bar and was quickly able to spot Gajeel. He was with Pantherlilly. They were both cracking jokes and seemed absolutely careless. Maybe he didn't care at all. She was about to turn away when he spotted her and motioned for her to come over. She hesitated for a second but then proceeded to the table where they were. As soon as she sat down, Gajeel handed her a giant milkshake, a cup of soda and a huge cake.
"what's all this for?" She asked.
"It's an 'I'm sorry' gift, Midget." He replied. "Now tell me what I did to make you mad."
Levy huffed. "Don't call me Midget!"
"Oops. Sorry, Midget." Gajeel replied. "Now could you please tell me what I did to make you mad?"
"That was it, Gajeel! I don't like being called Midget! I tell you every day to stop calling me that, and yet you still do it! How would you like it if I called you 'Iron face' or 'Gigantor'? I'm sick of it! I don't want to talk to someone who refuses to listen to me when I ask them to stop doing something I don't like!" She yelled, as she stormed off. She wasn't able to get very far. Gajeel came up behind her and put his hand on her shoulder.
"Levy, I'm sorry, i-" But he wasn't able to finish his sentence. The doors of the guild burst open and the sounds of gasps filled the air as everyone saw a sight that they had never thought they would see.
~Juvia~
Juvia awoke to the sound of a smoke alarm. She got up, out of the bed and walked into the kitchen, which, by the way, was filled with smoke. "Gray?" She called out, "What's going on here?"
A figure appeared from the smoke. "You weren't supposed to see this" He said quietly.
Juvia giggled. "I think your hair is on fire."
"Oh, gosh!" Gray yelled as he danced around frantically, trying to put out the flames.
"Come here." She motioned.
He hesitantly came over to her and winced as she placed her hand on his head, extinguishing the flames, revealing an enormous bald spot on the top of his head. The exposed flesh was red, oozing liquids, and bubbly, but not the grossest thing Juvia had ever seen.
Before tending to Gray's wound, Juvia checked the kitchen to make sure it wasn't about to burst into flames. After checking the kitchen, she grabbed a rag and wet it with cold water. She brought the rag to Gray and put it on his head.
"I'm going to go with you to your room and after I make sure you are alright, I want you to tell me where the first aid kit is."
…
After getting Gray to finally get some rest, Juvia began to clean the kitchen. What had he been doing in there? Everything from ceiling to floor looked like a group of elephants had stampeded through it. She found a recipe for blueberry pancakes on the counter and wondered why Gray would own such a thing. On the back was Mira's name. When had he borrowed this from her? And more importantly, why were pickles scattered all over the place? Blueberry pancakes don't require pickles. They couldn't be Gray's either because he hated pickles. If Gray had to choose between wearing a frilly dress for a year and eating a pickle, he would choose the frilly dress; with bloomers and a bonnet. She knew. It had been tested.
Juvia went back to working in the kitchen. It was pretty obvious it wasn't used much. Or at least properly. Juvia thought as she pulled a pair of scissors out of the sink drain.
As the hours pasted, Juvia managed to putt the kitchen into a manageable state and cooked a hot meal for both herself and Gray.
When she went to wake him, she found that he was already awake and had put on a fresh set of pants.
"Gray," She said, trying to get his attention. "I made us a meal. Do you want to eat in the kitchen or would you rather be served in here?"
Gray turned his head in her direction and answered slowly, "The kitchen, I guess."
~Mira~
"There, that should do it." Mira smiled at her work. It was absolutely marvelous, the birthday cake she made for Lisanna. Every year since her sister's death, Mira had made a cake and shared it with the guild. It was the happiest and saddest day in history. She took one quick look at the cake again and picked it up. It was ready to be brought to the bar.
~Natsu~
What he couldn't understand was why Lisanna had gotten as mad as she did. It wasn't like he had said anything mean. Okay, it was kind of mean to try and prevent someone from seeing their family, but he was thinking about her health, so she should have understood at least a little. But what surprised him the most was the fact that Elina had been quiet the entire time. She had been so talkative at the restaurant and seemed out of character.
Women, not even the brightest scholar could figure them out.
At last, they reached the guild. Natsu was expecting a big and warm welcome back home, but when he opened the doors, all he saw were gawks and stares. The entire guild was quiet. "I'm back." He said slowly. "And I brought someone with me. Two someone's actually." The guild remained quiet. Out from behind him stepped Lisanna. If even possible, everything got even quieter. Imagine deathly quiet, multiplied by ten.
"Hello, everyone," Lisanna said slowly. "I'm alive."
The members began to whisper things like 'is this a joke?', 'Someone go get Elfman and Mira!', 'who is that hot chick?' and ' Did Mira get a haircut?'
Lisanna didn't even notice the comments or at least she didn't act like it. Natsu couldn't tell. "Someone go get Mira, Elfman, and Gramps. I have some very important things to discuss."
