Waking up the next morning from a faint squawking, I turn over. There, in my window, is the crow. Groaning, I pull myself up, and run over to the crow, "Shoo!" It flies away, so I quickly close my window. Rubbing my eyes, I walk over to my dresser. Yawning, I begin to brush out my hair, as I walk on over to my closet.

Deciding on my outfit for the day, I slip into it. It's a navy blue dress with a slight v-neckline. Topping it off, I add my ring, a black leather jacket, and a pair of black, high-heeled boots that just about reach my knee. Going back over to my dresser, I grab a pair of earrings and a bracelet to match the silver in my ring. Keeping my hair in its thick, curly state, I add a small amount of mascara to my already thick eye lashes. To finish it off, I add my dark red lipstick, and I smile in content.

Walking out my room, I turn to see Elena and Aunt Jenna talking. "I feel good, which is rare. So I've decided to go with it. Fly free, walk on the sunshine, and all that stuff." Elena says to Jenna. Looking around, I notice a certain little brother missing, "Where's Jeremy?" I ask them. They both turn to me, noticing I'm there; "He left early. Something about getting to wood shop early to finish a birdhouse." Aunt Jenna explains. Raising my eyebrows so high they reach they reach a stray curl of my hair. Noticing this, Jenna pauses, "There is no wood shop, is there?" "No." Nope." Elena and I say at the same time, as I drop the p. "Yeah."

With school now over, Matt, Elena, and I walk through the school courtyard. While we do, we discuss about Vicki; "They're keeping her overnight to make sure there's no infection, but she should be able to come home tomorrow." "That's good news." Elena says to Matt, "Yeah."

"Did you get in touch with your mom?" I ask him. Looking to me, "Called and left a message. She's in Virginia Beach with her boyfriend, so... we'll see how long it takes her to come rushing home." Giving him a nod of my head, "Vicki's lucky that she's okay." Elena adds.

Looking over, I see Stefan is sitting across from us on a picnic table; "Did she say what kind of animal it was that attacked her?" Elena asks. This brings my attention back to our conversation; "She said it was a vampire."

Shocked, "What?" I ask, trying to hold back my laughter, out of respect. "Yeah, she wakes up last night and mutters 'vampire' and then passes out." Confused, "OKAY, that is weird." Elena says, speaking my mind.

Seeing Stefan, "So what's up with you and the new guy?" Matt asks Elena. "Matt, the last thing that I want to do is hurt you." "You know, I'm... I'm actually gonna go back to the hospital. I want to be there when Vicki wakes up, get the real story about last night." With that, Matt walks always. Turning, Elena and I notice that Stefan has disappeared from the bench.

Sitting at the Grill with my twin, Bonnie, and Caroline. Taking a long sip from my mug of tea, I listen into our conversation, "Well, I was talking to Grams, and she said the comet is a sign of impending doom. The last time it passed over Mystic Falls, there was lots of death. So much blood and carnage, it created a bed of paranormal activity." Bonnie says. "Yeah, and then you poured Grams another shot and she told you about the aliens. So then what?" Caroline states.

With that, I find myself blocking out the conversation, as I look around. My attention is brought back to the table to see my sister getting up; "Where you going?" I ask her. "Caroline's right. It is easy. If I sit here long enough, I'll end up talking myself out of it instead of doing what I started the day saying what I was going to do." Looking to me, "Do you think you can get home by yourself, Kat?" Taking another sip of my tea, I turn to Caroline, "Could you take me home, Care?" I ask her.

Nodding her head, I turn back to my twin, "I have a ride. Now go! Shoo!" Smiling at me, "Great! I'll see you at the house." Standing up quickly, I give my twin into a hug; "Make sure to tell me how it goes." I whisper in her ear. We pull away and she goes over to our car, and drives off to the Boarding House.

Elena, Jenna, and I are in the kitchen later in the day. Elena told us all that happened, and I can't help, but feel bad for her; "He's on the rebound and has raging family issues." Rubbing her shoulder in an attempt to comfort her, as Jenna tells her, "Well, at least it's an ex-girlfriend. Wait till you date a guy with mommy issues or cheating issues. Or amphetamine issues."

Suddenly, I hear the door open up. Looking up, I see an obvious mysterious looking Jeremy; "Jeremy? Jeremy, where were you?" With that, Jenna runs after him.

Turning to Elena, "You sure you're okay?" I ask her. Nodding her head, but I know she's lying, so I pull her into a hug. I'd never been good at the comfort stuff, but I could at least try. Rubbing her back in the process, "I'm certain that everything will be fine. Just don't think to hard about it." I tell her, then pull away. She gives me her convincing smile, "Thanks, Kat." With that, we make our way to our bedrooms.

It's the next day as Elena, Bonnie, and I walk through the Town's Square, handing out pamphlets for tonight; "Tonight, night of the comet! Would you like a program?" I hand out some pamphlets as Bonnie turns to Elena, "He didn't call, huh?" "Or text. But I realized we never even exchanged that stuff. We've never gotten to the texting part."

Turning to my sister, "That's an important milestone in any relationship." I say in a series, yet sarcastic tone. "Isn't it?" She responds back to me, then, "The timing is wrong, anyway." "When is it ever right?" "I'm not ready, Bonnie." "Who is?" "At least I put myself out there." " Is that what you're calling it?" I ask my twin as I give a pamphlet to another person. "What do you mean?" Looking to her, "I agree. All I'm hearing is reasons why you can't." Bonnie states.

Now night time, I stand with Matt in the town square. Looking over, I see my sister as she walks over to us. They share some hey's as Matt then lights Elena's candle. "Thank you." "You're welcome." With that, Elena walks over, and lights another person's candle.

Looking over, I see it's Stefan. She turns to Matt and I, then walks away, so she's closer to where the comet's in view. Stefan joins her after a few moments. They share some conversation, then after awhile, Elena blows out her candle, and walks away. Watching her, I watch as she makes her way to the Grill. Turning back around, I look to Stefan, and walk towards him.

"Hey, Stef." I say to him with a weak smile. Turning to me, "Hey Kat." This causes me to smile larger, not a lot of people I knew called me Kat. Only family and close friends, "Does this mean we're friends Mister Salvatore?" I ask with a small smirk. Giving me a toothless grin, "I guess so."

Smiling, "Let me see your phone." I state with my right hand faced towards him. Confused, "If you're going to date my sister, then I'm going to need your number, and you'll need mine." Shock is on his face, "I don't know what-" "Stop." I interrupt him as I hold up my hand, "I know you like her. It's clear to me. And I can help you with that." Without a word, Stefan digs into his pocket, and hands me his phone. Entering my number, I hand him my phone too, to which he puts his number in also.

With my phone back in my pocket, we blow and put our candles down. Looping my hand around his, "Come on, buddy. We're going to go down Elena road." He chuckles at me as we walk through the Square together.

After some exchanged conversation, I feel quite close to Stefan, almost like a brother. For the first time sense the accident, I felt as if I was completely free. Every worry seems to be completely gone now; "I think we're going to be best buds." I tell Stefan. He turns to me and smiles. Opening his mouth to say something, he's stopped by Matt, who walks up to us; "Have you seen my sister?"

Shaking our heads, "No, sorry." Stefan responds for us. "I can't find her. She's missing." "We'll keep an eye out for her." I assure Matt, then we begin to walk back to the Square, but Matt stops us again; "I saw you at the hospital yesterday." He's speaking to Stefan as we spin back around to Matt; "Did you?" Stefan asks. There is almost no emotion to Stefan's voice; "What were you doing there?"

A few moments of silence, then, "Visiting." "Visiting?" More silence. Then, Matt decides to give him a lecture; "You know, Elena and I, we've known each other for a long time. We might not be together right now, but I look out for her. And I'll always look out for her."

It seems as if Stefan's not paying attention to him, but rather somewhere else in this vast world. Then, Stefan suddenly un-loops his hand from mine. "Excuse me." With that, Stefan leaves without saying another thing.

Later into the night, I sit with Caroline and Bonnie at a table in the Grill. Elena had long sense left and went home after wanting to be by herself. Drinking from a mug of coffee, I don't really pay attention to Bonnie and Caroline's conversation. Instead, I'm looking out into space.

The Grill's door opens up, bringing my attention over to them. It's Stefan. He talks with Matt for awhile, who's helping Vicki out, who got her stitches ripped out from whatever she'd done before, then Stefan makes his way over to our table; "Excuse me. Hi." "Hi." Bonnie responds. "Hey Stef buddy!" I say to him with my big smile. "Um, have you guys seen Elena?"

My smile drops slightly, "Oh. Sadly, she went home. Ditching me, I might add." I comment. Stefan chuckles softly, "Well, I'm sorry." he says. Before he can walk off, Bonnie stops him as she writes on a sheet of paper; "I'm gonna give you Elena's cell number and her email. She is big on texting, and you can tell her... 'I said so.'" Looking to Bonnie, "Correction: we said so." I say with a smirk. "Thank you." Stefan says.

Reaching his hand for the paper, Bonnie touches Stefan's hand in their exchange, and seems to blank out for a moment. Coming back to almost being normal, "You okay?" Stefan asks her. "What happened to you?" Bonnie asks. A moment of silence fills the already awkward silence, and she then returns to her normal self, "That's so rude. I'm sorry. Excuse me." With that said, Bonnie walks off. "Yeah, she kind of wigs out. It's like her thing."
