"Never mind who I am. Who are you?" The Doctor said, sliding his fingers across the equipment spread out around the room.
The alien being standing across from the Doctor was somewhat short, and lanky. His fingers where long, and it was dressed in what seemed to be a sort of haz-mat suit.
"Because this work you're doing is very dangerous and complicated." The Doctor continued. "And frankly, it's idiotic."
The alien figure chuckled. "You're very judgmental. I take it you're not a fan of the sciences?"
"I'm not a fan of cruelty."
"Ah. See, there is no science if you're afraid of a little cruelty."
The Doctor just grunted in bemusement and contempt.
"You must be a dreamer to believe otherwise, my friend. Now, I must ask you to leave or I will have no choice but to remove you by force."
The Doctor paced the room, staring at the scientist. "This is driving me mad. I can't place you or your species."
"Hmm. I suppose my reputation is not as far reaching as I had hoped. I am Talas. I am a member of the Deraxus Ministry of the Sciences. And I assure you I have clearance to be here. You, I'm afraid, do not." Two of the tall white beasts appeared behind The Doctor. "Now leave..." Talas turned to return to his work.
"I am a Time Lord and former agent of the Celestial Intervention Agency and I demand you tell me what you think you'll accomplish here!" The Doctor shouted, his eyes filled with barely restrained fury.
Talas stopped frozen where he stood. He slowly turned to face The Doctor. "Time Lord?" He asked. The words seemed to drip between his lips. "I thought you were all dead..."
"Not quite."
Talas wrung his hands and stared at The Doctor for a moment. He then waved off his creatures. "Very well. My nosey friend..." He slowly reached over and pulled a chair forward and sat down. "..You want to know about my research? Here it is. I want the secret to immortality."
"Great...not one of these people again..." The Doctor said under his breath.
"Time and space were conquered long ago. Now I will be the one to conquer death."
"Hm. I see. So your creatures-creature- is scattered across the history of this planet and you have them remove the organs of innocent humans so you can test what exactly?.."
Talas' eyes narrowed. "Time Lord, you are dense. It's simple they remove the organs and
so I and my people may have them."
"You're killing people doing this! You're playing with their autonomy, never mind the temporal and spatial stress you're putting this planet through! This can not continue Talas!"
Laura and Nal still stood in the shadows. Laura listened to the conversation, afraid of what this Talas could do to The Doctor, and the whole human race. While Nal was shaking with anger at hearing someone talk so coldly about the people she held dear. The ones she loved.
"Yes. I'm aware. It's a price to pay. If this miserable planet dies who cares? The humans in my time have long since left this place and are well protected by treaties and laws. These humans are free test subjects. Their innards are close enough to that of my people that they make a wonderful organ bank. Plus it allows me to test, on a select few, my temporal stints. Once the organs are removed we see how well they work to keep our humans alive."
"They're not. They are wasting away in agony! This is not science! This is violence!" The Doctor shouted.
Talas chuckled to himself. "You're a bleeding heart, aren't you? The miserable people of this planet are so insignificant that in the four billion years of their existence they have barely made a blip in one corner of one galaxy. What do they matter? They. Don't."
The Doctor stood, his fist shaking in furious anger. Laura stood in the shadows, listening to the words of Talas and hanging her head. She had to believe that humans meant so little. It made the most sense. How important could these emotional, irrational, violent animals really be? The Doctor took in a deep breath and prepared to speak when suddenly Nal rushed past him. She gripped Talas by the collar and held her spearhead to his neck. "You speak so ill of us, villain, but look who can spill your blood all over this place!"
Talas' eyes widened with shock, as the white creatures moved, nails spread, toward Nal.
