Holly woke up tied up in the basement. She didn't recognize the place. Her main concern was Gail.
''Gail…''
''Don't worry; your lady is in good hands… Surprised to see a little bump on her…''
''What did you do to her?''
''Oh, behave doctor or you will not live to see where your lady is… Must say she looks sexy with little more wait.''
Holly felt sick. What did he do to her? She was worried about her wife and the baby.
''We have some unfinished business doctor… Yours truly will not be in the way today…''
When he moved, she saw Gail tied up in the other corner. She was still asleep. Holly was so afraid for her wife and the baby.
''Let he go… You have me…''
''But it will be so much fun to see your face when I kill her… and the baby….''
''NO!''
''You said something good doctor?''
''Don't hurt them….''
''Why?''
''Because she is pregnant… There is new life inside of her…''
''And I really appreciate life? With her I get two for one…''
Caveman had gun and a big hunting knife ready for Holly and Gail. Holly hoped that they would survive somehow and that their baby would be safe… When Gail woke up she was confused. She didn't know where she was. She saw Holly tied up and she got scared.
''Holly, where are we?''
''Somewhere with Caveman…''
''Shit! How did that happen? We were at home….''
''Yes, and now we are here. He wants to hurt you and the baby…''
Gail took a deep breath and started looking around.
''Baby, we are going to figure this out. Can you move?''
''No…''
''O.K. How are you tied?''
''Rope…''
''Hm..''
''Try to untie it or cut it against the pole you are tied against.''
Holly tried to do it but it was not working. In the meantime, Caveman returned.
''Oh, I see that the sleeping beauty is up…''
''What do you want?''
''Hm, interesting question. Well, few years ago you interrupted a very intimate moment between me and nice doctor over there… Now I have to relive it… in front of you…''
He took the knife out of his pocket and walked towards Holly. He cut her shirt and top of the pants.
''Oh, ja see you still have small reminder of our amazing time together. Oh, I remember that day… I loved every second of our time together..''
He was going over her scars with the knife.
''Do you remember it doctor? You were working on one of my bodies when I came. I chocked you and then I made these amazing cuts…''
Gail felt sick reliving that day and listening all about it. It made her even more scared and sick to know she could see it again. She was trying to untie her hands, but it was not working. She had to find a way to get away and save Holly. She had to save her wife. Holly was frightened. She didn't want Gail to be the witness of the same thing again. She would have done anything for Gail to be away and not to see her hurt again. Caveman made small cut on her stomach…
''I love to see you bleed my sweet doctor. If only you died that day ant this one didn't come, I would have got away with it. But no… She had to… Too bad no one would be there to testify when they find your body and your lovely wife's body. I'm so sorry you will never meet the little one… Oh, life is so cruel…''
At that point Gail knew she had to save them. She managed to set herself free and she approached Caveman quietly. She took the rope and she jumped on Caveman's back and started struggling him. He pushed her against the wall and she fell on her stomach. Cavemen turned towards her and headed towards her. Holly managed to free her hands and she took the gun. Caveman was sitting on top of Gail ready to stab her when Holly fired four shots. She knew that she had to do this in order to protect her wife and their baby. Caveman fell of Gail and she took his knife away. Holly came to Gail to check if she is O.K. Gail pushed him away from her and jumped into Holly's arms.
''Baby, are you O.K.?''
''I am… I'm fine…. We have to get away from here… And we have to call the police…''
They managed to get out of the basement and they found a phone. She called Steve and told him what happened. Forty minutes later police appeared. Steve and Tracy were in the car with Oliver and Sam.
''Gail, thank God you are O.K. I was so worried.''
''I'm fine Steve.''
''Ambulance is on its way… They will have to check you up.''
Gail started having some pain in her stomach and it was not well.
''Baby, are you O.K.''
''It hurts Holly. What if something is wrong with a baby?''
''Love, it will be O.K. Just breathe and try to relax.''
Ambulance came and they were rushed to the hospital. Some of the Holly's colleges came to retrieve the body of the caveman and get him to the morgue. Steve was impressed with the way he was shot. He couldn't believe it happened. He was sure no one noticed what he has. He had to keep it to himself for some time. Caveman was taken to the morgue and Steve and Tracy went to the hospital to see how girls were. Holly was checked out, but she was not happy about being in her room. She had few cuts and bruises that didn't need a lot of work on so she got to her wife's room as soon as she could. One of her doctors was someone she knew from the med school. They got her some scrubs to change into and she was in Gail's room less than an hour after they got to the hospital. Gail was in bed with IV. She had to get some fluids and some things to prevent her from miscarrying. They gave her some sedatives and she was asleep. Holly got into the chair by the bed and took her hand.
''We are safe my love. No one will hurt us again… He is gone…''
Steve was at the door.
''How is she?''
''She is fine… And the baby is also fine. They will keep her tonight just to make sure she is reacting well to the meds they gave her. She got some hormones cocktail to keep her from losing the baby.''
''And how are you holding on?''
''I'm O.K. I just want her and the baby out of this place and home. I miss my bed and I miss her in it…''
''I believe you…''
There was short silence….
Police will be here soon to question two of you. They determined that her gun was used, so they have to question her about shooting it.''
''Oh…''
''It's O.K. Gail will tell them she shoot him and two of you escaped…''
''Is he…?''
''Dead? Yes he is…''
''Oh…''
Holly knew she saved them and she did all she could to save her wife and baby, but she still had a big problem with the fact she killed someone.''
'' You did a good job Holly…''
She looked at him and saw that he is not judging her.
''What?''
''I know you shot him with her gun…''
''How?''
''Let's say that cops and doctors shoot in a different manner. If she did it, it would have been shoulder and maybe knee. He was shot in the heart, head and stomach. All the parts that could bring him death.''
''I…. I didn't want to kill him…''
''Don't worry… I took care of it. No one will touch you… I promise…''
And with that, they went back to Gail. She was still asleep and she seamed very calm.''
''Drugs always knock her out…''
''Yes, even as a child she could sleep like a baby after her meds.''
Holly smiled…
'' I hope our baby will get all the good from her.''
''It will have two of you in life. That is good enough for a start.''
''I was so scared for her and the baby…''
''I know.''
Steve put his arm on her shoulder and squeezed it.
''I know you are not fine with what you did. And I'm so sorry you had to be in this situation. But… I don't feel sorry for him. He hurt you before and he tried to hurt two of you now. You did what you had to… You protected your family.''
''I took someone's life… I'm a doctor… I should save lives…Not take them…''
Before Steve said something, Gail was the one to speak.
''Nerd, you are dead people doctor… You killed the man… Now, he is in your expertise.'''
''Gail, you are awake… How are you?''
''Sleepy, but fine…''
Gail took Holly's hand and pulled her towards her. Holly let her do it and she was greeated with Gail's lips and she was happy to feel them again.
''I love you so much Gail… I'm so glad you and the baby are fine…''
''We are fine and alive thanks to you love.''
''I…''
''I'll take care of it. No one will do anything to you…''
Holly kissed her wife again and the kiss was interrupted by someone coughing. Two officers were at the door.
''Mam… We are here to ask about the shooting…''
''Not now… I want to rest and have some peace with my wife…''
''But detective Anderson…''
''I don't care… I want you out of my room and away from me and my wife. If your detective says something, send him to me….On Monday….''
''Yes, Mam…''
Holly turned towards her wife.
''What will we do?''
''I don't know now… Let me think…''
