Gail got out of the hospital few days later. Holly got everything ready for her girls. Baby's room was cleaned…again and she was excited about all the times she will put their girl to bed. Holly was sad she couldn't have biological children, but the moment she held the baby in her arms made her forget about all the things that were painful. Gail gave her the greatest gift in life. She made her a mom. For weeks Holly would sneak out of the bed in the night and go to the baby's room and just hold her. She was not a light sleeper, like her moms and Holly could take her and put her back into her crib without waking her up. She would sit in a rocking chair and talk to the child about all the amazing things they will do or did that day.

''I love you so much baby… I never knew there was such a big and crazy love until your mom gave birth to you… I love you so much… You are my number one lady… You know that love?''

Gail was standing at the door looking at Holly. She loved how Holly was happy and how much this baby helped her be more complete. Her mother managed to get her some doubt about how Holly would be invested in being a parent to someone else's child and Gail was ashamed to admit she had few moments of fear how that would all work out, but as soon as they got home and she saw Holly with the baby, she realized her mom was wrong. That baby was Holly's life. She had pictures of almost every move baby made and Gail enjoyed watching two of them together. She was right. Holly was amazing mother and she loved that baby so much. Sometimes she had moments when she felt bad for Holly. She would stand at the door and watch Gail nurse the baby and talk to it. Gail knew that she and Holly experienced most od the things together, but this. Holly would never be able to be pregnant, give birth or nurse a child. Holly would always be the ''other'' parent, ''other'' mother in the eyes of the world and especially her mother. She knew she could never make up for what caveman did, but baby was new beginning, new chapter for them.

''I am deeply hurt Stewart… I am not number one and your baby anymore?''

Gail pouted and Holly smiled at her… She got up from the chair and placed the baby back to the crib. She came to Gail and kissed her. First kiss was very tender and cute. But the next one was filled with passion and desire.

''What was that?''

''I am about to show you how much of a number one and my baby you are…you will always be…''

She took Gail back to the bedroom and stripped her off her clothes. It was the first time they made love after the birth of their baby. Gail's body changed during the pregnancy and even now it was much different than before. She had new curves, her breasts were bigger and more sensitive to touch, her entire body reacted in different way than before. Holly enjoyed making love to her wife and showing her how loved she was. Gail, being Gail, had insecurities about her body. Now, there was no more baby and all the fat and all the ''imperfections'' were actually ''her'' not the ''baby'' or the ''water''. Now there were no excuses to being fat, but Holly pushed all these thoughts away with her words and touches. Gail was not perfect, but she was loved for her imperfections.

''You have no idea how much I love you Gail… Not just for the baby you had for us, but for all that you are…And all that you will be in future…''

Gail started crying…

''I love you too… And I hate being this hormonal…''

''I know love… I know…''

Since they managed to get entire year off, Holly was happy to spend all her time with her wife and kid. Unlike Gail who really had a year off, Holly made commitment to come and work only if she has to and they don't have anyone else. She was just waiting for the call to burst their bubble. Gail was not that good with turning off the work part of her brain. She was happy at home, but sometimes she missed all the action and things from the ''real'' world. Their friends would come and tell crazy stories of how their days went. Chris and Dove chaise some criminals and fell into the barrels with some not so nice things. Chloe was spending her time at home with the baby, and telling them she doesn't miss the work and things happening. Andy and Sam were working on a baby but still had million things to say about their days at work. Gail listened to them and missed the action of the streets and things happening in the world outside of the dippers, bottles and baby cuddles. Holly on the other hand enjoyed being mom and being at home. As soon as Eliza was a bit stronger she was taking her everywhere with her. She carried her strapped to her and they would do shopping, go for a run in the morning. They did everything together. Gail would take that time to do something she liked, and it would usually end with her going back to the office or going to the gym. She was very determined to get back in shape and get her body to the before baby state. One of the people who told Gail she is fat and unattractive was her mom. Elaine would make her feel so bad about her body and the fact she just gave birth was not good enough excuse to Elaine to be that ''fat''. If Holly felt bad for Gail. To her, Gail looked healthy and amazing for someone who gave birth few weeks ago. She did have some extra weight, but it was healthy. She gained about ten kilograms in the pregnancy so after birth she had just few extra that would go with proper diet and breastfeeding. Her wife didn't really understand how could she miss the work, but she didn't make Gail feel bad about it. When Elisa turned six months, Gail went back to work and Holly was at home with the baby. Few days before she got back to work, she got the call from her godfather telling her that a man who was at her place, made mess of it. Officers were not in line as they were before and everyone thinks it's a picnic and not a serious place and office. She knew what that meant.

''How soon you want me there?''

''Monday…''

''That's in three days?''

''I am aware of it CS Peck…''

''Fine, see you on Monday…''

''Oh, and Peck…''

''Yes?''

''They have no idea you are coming. Keep it that way… No one should know… I want you to see firsthand what they did with your office and staff…''

''Yes Sir… I understand….''

Holly found her sitting on their bed with very blank expression on her face. Since she was feeding the baby, she missed the conversation.

''What is happening?''

''It's over…''

''What is over Gail?''

''My time off work… I go back on Monday. Someone screwed up things in the office and they need a Peck to get things right…''

''I am sorry babe…''

''I will turn into my mother…''

''What?''

''My job will be more important than the family…''

''You will not turn into her. I promise…''

''I am so not happy about going back to work.''

''I know love…''

First day back, Gail was very nervous. She spent a lot of time in the bathroom getting ready and getting her hair in a perfect bun or checking if her shirt is properly ironed. Holly fed the baby and got to the bathroom door. She opened them and found Gail looking at herself.

''I don't look ok… I am fat…''

''Gail..''

''I am… Look at me… Look at my stomach… I am fat!''

''Gail, you are already in your pre baby uniform skirt…''

''I know… But it fits in a different way…''

''Aaaand?''

''They will notice…''

''Baby, they are either very frightened to see you or happy… No one would say anything to you….''

''I am nervous…''

''I know love…''

Holly kissed her and Gail smiled.

''I love you Holly…''

''I love you to baby….''

Baby started making sounds… She was waving her hands and ''talking'' to her mommies. Holly smiled at their daughter and kissed her forehead.

''We love you too baby… Your mommies love you very much….''

Gail smiled at two of them. She felt really good about her life. She hasn't felt like this for ages. She and Holly really made it. They had a baby and they had good life ahead of them. Gail finally felt like she made it. It finally hit her how this thing, she has at home, is bigger than any promotion at work or anything uniform can bring… And that made her feel sorry for her mother. She realized how Elaine Peck had it bad at home for some reason so she had to run into her work.

''I can't believe we have her and we have a family…''

''Me too baby….Sometimes it looks like a dream…''

''I don't want to wake up…''

''I know Gail…''

She kissed Holly and smiled.

''For some reason I feel like I can't go to work. I can't leave her.''

''We will be fine… And we will pick you up for lunch…''

''Yey! I love that babe…''

''Now go and be mean boss you love to beeeeeeee…''

''I am not…''

Holly's look interrupted her…

''Maybe just a little…''

''We love you…''

Gail picked up her things, kissed her girls and left the house. Drive to the station seamed shorter than ever. She was very nervous and excited at the same time. After almost a year, she was going back to work and she had to take that place by storm. She couldn't let herself be labeled as soft now when she became a mom and she wanted to know what these idiots did wrong so she had to go back to work a bit early. She parked her car and got out.

''Lets' do it!''

Parking was very empty for six in the morning. Usually there would be more cars and people heading for the station at this time. She got in and the new receptionist was at the enterance. She nodded at her and she tried to stop her before she entered the office.

''Mam, Superintendent Brooks is not here yet… Do you want to wait here in the hallway. I could get you a coffee or something.''

''Coffee would be nice, but I think I will get into the office. And please sent the staff to the office for the morning briefing.''

''Mam, no one is here until some eight or nine…''

''What?!''

''That is the time they come to work…''

''Well then call them… Tell them that they are wanted….''

''And who is asking for them?''

''Oh, since you are new, this will not be taken as a strike… My name is Gail Peck… I am CS….''

''Oh…''

Gail could have sworn she herd the girl mumble couple of bad word and call herself stupid.

''I will be in MY office now… Oh, and send someone to clear out Brooks' things….''

''Yes, Mam…''

''Good… Go back to work now…''

Holly came around lunch time with food. She knew Gail would be nervous and grumpy so she got her all the things she loved. With their baby strapped to her chest, Holly got into the police headquarters and got in the elevator to see her wife. She had no idea Gail had new receptionist. She was surprised not to see Marta sitting there.

''Mam, may I help you?''

''I am her to see Gail?''

''Do you have apointmant?''

''No…''

''I am sorry, you can't enter then…''

''Miss..''

''CS Peck said no one can enter if not invited by her…''

Holly got the phone out…

''Hey, it's me… Can you tell your receptionist to let me and Eliza in?''

Gail got out of her office and met Holly and the baby in the hallway.

''What are two of you doing here? It's nice to see friendly faces….''

''We got you some food…''

''Lunch? Mmmm… I was getting hungry….''

''We know…''

Gail was talking to the baby and kissing it that got her receptionist into shock. Harsh woman who was creating tantrums entire day had a soft side… She saw the look on the receptionist's face…

''For the future references… This is Dr. Holly Stewart… She is forensic pathologist working for the 15th Division. And she is my wife…So, when she comes, calls or needs anything, you get me… Are we clear?''

''Oh…Yes, we are clear…''

''Good…''

She took Holly's hand and got her into the office…

''I am going insane here. They are idiots… I can't explain how things are here… I wish I was at home with two of you…''

''I know. We miss you too…''

Next couple of weeks, Holly would come with the baby and they would eat together. Sometimes at Gail's office and sometimes at her and Holly's places they used to eat when they dated…

''I must find a way to get out of work… I can't do it anymore… They are idiots…''

Holly was bouncing the baby and smiled at her and Gail…

''I think I know the way…''

''Yes? Illuminate me?''

''Let's have another baby?''
