AN: Hi guys, I'm so so sorry for the long update. This has been one of the toughest years for me. I'm not exaggerating, I've been working 12 hour days 5 days a week for 6 months at my new job and I've been going to weekly therapy sessions to help with my recovery. I've had this chapter started for months but today I finally got round to finishing it! I'm sorry if it rubbish but my mind's been all over the place for a while now. So without further ado, I will allow you to read it. Please R&R. Thanks. x
It was the day of the camping trip. Glamping trip. And Rachel was excited. She couldn't wait to meet all the other wolves that were part of her mother's pack. She'd told her fathers she was going away with the Pierce's for the weekend, and obviously Lesley and Steve had covered for her. Brittany and her mom walked into Rachel's house to pick her up and the blonde instantly found her way into her mate's arms.
"Hey Brits, you okay honey?" Rachel asked.
"Of course I am! I get to spend the weekend away with my gorgeous girlfriend, and all my friends, what's not to be okay about? Okay yes, our moms will be there but they're totally cool." She then let Rachel go and went over and scooped up Rachel's fathers into a hug.
"Hey Mr B's. It's totally cool that you let Rachel come on this trip with us."
At first the Berry men had been hesitant to let their daughter go away for the weekend with her girlfriend and her girlfriend's family, but once Brittany heard this, she came round and beg and pleaded with them until they said yes, and obviously, no one can say no to Brittany.
"Well we didn't want to upset our favourite blonde now, did we?" LeRoy Berry nudged jokingly.
"Well come on you two, we better get going. Steve and Luke will already we halfway there with the camper!" Lesley lied smoothly. Well it wasn't a lie, not totally, Luke was on his way there, he'd only caught a ride with Shelby as it seemed pointless having Steve do a six hour round journey.
Almost three hours later and they'd arrived at the campsite. There were five large log cabins, and Shelby and Lesley had assigned them accordingly. Rachel's pack had all been assigned the same cabin, since there was only six of them.
"Well let's head in then!" said Santana excitedly.
Everyone was speechless when they walked into the cabin. It was huge. The living room had a large sofa, big enough to easily have six people sitting comfortably. There was a large flat screen TV that was attached to the wall, which hung over a huge log burning fire. The kitchen was decked out with marble worktops and a large dining table.
There were two double bedrooms and a bedroom with two single beds in it. Instantly the two couple of the group claimed the double room, the boys didn't mind sharing anyway.
"This place is amazing!" Quinn said a short while later, as they were all gathered in the living room. "I'm so glad I could come here with you guys. Especially you!" Quinn said to Santana before pulling her girlfriend in for a rather heated kisses, Santana's hand instantly making their way under Quinn's shirt.
"Okay, enough of that thank you." Rachel said, trying her hardest not too look, but it was pretty hot.
"Baby, stop looking at them." Brittany said jealously.
"Feel free to make out two guys, Finn and I have no complaints." Puck said. Whilst grinning.
"Uh nope, no complaints." Finn said, with his eyes sparkling.
Eventually, Quinn and Santana stopped making out on the sofa and they made their way to the campfire so they could meet everyone. Rachel sat down on the bench next to her Mom, and pulled Brittany into her side. Everyone else sat where ever there was spaces.
"So everyone, Lesley and I would like to welcome you to this trip. We arranged it as it's important that our two packs form a unit and bond, and well, honestly, I wanted to spend some quality time with my daughter Rachel who, as you all know, has just recently came back into my life." Shelby said, whilst gently putting a hand to her daughters face. Rachel just smiled fondly at her Mom.
"So without further ado, we'll start with the introductions." Lesley said, standing up and clapping her hands together. "I'm Lesley Pierce, that's my daughter Brittany, and this is my son Luke. Luke is very new to this, so I'd appreciate it if you all go easy on him, thank you."
Next to stand up was Rachel and Brittany. "Hi, I'm Rachel Berry. I'm the alpha of my pack, which consists of my beautiful mate, Brittany, and two beta's Puck and Santana, and also, my very good friends, Quinn Fabray and Finn Hudson. Brittany has been a real rock to all of us, since we've all transformed for the first time this year, and it's been a struggle, but we've managed to survive without killing each other. Almost." Everyone let out a short laugh at that one. "I'm also very happy to be meeting you all, Shelby has told me so many wonderful things about all of you and I can't wait until I know you all more."
"Oh! And I also can't wait to get to know you guys too. My first transformation was 3 years ago when I was 14 and it was so lonely, I didn't have anyone to talk to except my Mom because I didn't know any other werewolves. So yeah, I can't wait for us all to be friends."
Next to stand up was a quite girl, she was tall with long brown hair. She was very pale and very thin. Her clothes were very basic and she looked like she hadn't had the easiest start in life.
"Hi everyone, my name is Marley Rose. I don't really know what to say at these things, it kinda feels like alcoholic anonymous a lil' bit." Marley let out a nervous chuckle. "But I live with my Mom. She's a dinnerlady at my high school. She has no idea about this whole other world in which there and werewolves and god knows what else. And I'd like to keep it that way. She has enough on her plate as it is without her worrying about me."
"Marley honey, you don't have to worry about that, none of us are going to tell your Mom sweetie. What gets said at this campsite, stays at this campsite." Shelby said, in a soft, reassuring tone.
Rachel felt jealous of the affectionate tone this girl was receiving from her mom. Her Mom. She could feel herself shaking with anger until Brittany pulled her further into her body and nuzzled against her neck, silently telling her to calm down.
Everyone else introduced themselves, and then got started on eating the picnic that had already been prepared for them. Everyone was having a good time. Rachel was talking to a boy that was literally the male version of her. He could sing, he wanted to be on broadway and he was a self-proclaimed diva. Rachel could see herself being very good friends with Jesse St. James
"So how long have you known Shelby for?" Rachel asked
"About four years. When she took over Vocal Adrenaline in my junior year. I graduated two years later. She never found out I was a wolf though until my senior year. One day I totally lost it at our choreographer, Dakota Stanley. He was being an ass. And I thought I was going to kill him. I started shaking, convulsing almost and Shelby realised what was happening and dragged me outta the room and into the woods as fast as she could. I'd never been as shocked in my life."
"I had similar circumstances. I was about ready to kill a bully in my school when those things started happening to me. Brittany followed me. She'd been expecting my transformation for a while. She helped me through it."
"Yeah it's always better when you've got someone talkin' you through it. Marley over there? She had to go through her first transformation alone and scared. She had no idea what was happening. You can imagine the pain you're in, she thought she was dying." Jesse said, casting a sympathetic glance over to Marley, who was talking to Puck and Finn.
"Are you and her?"
Jesse turned around so fast Rachel thought he could get whiplash. "What? No! No way, I mean, Marley's a nice girl and she's beautiful, but she's not the girl for me."
"So Rachel, how do you think the first night went?" Lesley said to her.
"I think it's going good. Everyone's getting along well together. That's good."
"Absolutely. It's super important that everyone gets on well together." Lesley said. She looked over at Rachel who was rubbing her eyes. "You okay sweetie?"
"Yeah, I'm just tired. I haven't been getting much sleep recently." Lesley scooted closer to her future daughter-in-law.
"Tell me what's on your mind darling."
"No it's stupid." Rachel said.
"It's not stupid, if something is bothering you, talking about it helps."
"I've been having nightmares. Bad ones. Everyone's been dying in them, Brittany, my mom, you, my friends, even my dads have been in them. And then sometimes it's just me walking about, 20 years from now, depressed, and alone because my mate's been killed and I haven't been. It's horrible, and it's almost every night."
"Oh honey, I can't promise you that everything is going to be alive. I can't promise you that there are going to be no casualties. I also can't promise you that there will be no deaths. But what I do know, is that you will fight to the death, to prevent anything happening to the people you love and care about. And that's something to be proud of. Have you spoken to Brittany about this?" Rachel shook her head no. "Talk to her sweetie, my daughter is smart, she'll know how to help."
"Brittany already helps. Just by breathing." Rachel said softly. Lesley smiled and gave the smaller girl a hug.
"I know."
Back at their cabin. Everyone was getting ready for bed. Except for Rachel and Brittany. They were in the middle of an extremely heated make-out session. They were already naked. Rachel had told Brittany her fears and now Brittany was determined to make her forget all about them. It also didn't hurt that she totally wanted to rock Rachel's world.
The next morning, Brittberry was the last ones up. They came down and made some breakfast and looked at their friends. Puck and Finn had a fairly smug/turned on expression, Santana had a jealous expression and Quinn looked downright affronted. Gathering by their expressions, Brittany guessed that the newly formed couple, Quinntana and yet to take that step.
"Good morning people." Rachel said, sitting down with her bowl of cereal and cup of coffee.
"Good morning Rachel, I'd ask if you slept well but I'm guessing you didn't sleep much if the bed banging against the wall is anything to go by." Santana snapped.
Rachel blushed and tried to hide her head.
"Oh! Not to mention, the extremely loud screams of 'Harder Britt, fuck.'" Puck said, his grin getting even bigger.
Rachel blushed even redder "Oh god, I'm sorry guys."
"Don't apologise Rach, honestly, it's okay." Puck said seriously, causing everyone to laugh and the tension in the room to evaporate.
That afternoon, they met up with a few of the others and went swimming in the lake. Their was a rope swing and a pretty large rock to jump off of. Everyone was having fun and laughing. Until Rachel suddenly heard her girlfriend's loud growl. She turned around to see Brittany in her wolf form, lunging at Jesse, who quickly followed suit and changed too.
"What the hell happened?" Rachel asked, running as fast as she could, Santana and Puck had already changed into wolf form to try and stop Brittany and two from Shelby's pack who Rachel recognised as Ben and Jack had transformed to try and hold Jesse back. Rachel was annoyed that she couldn't hear the argument going on so she changed too.
"You asshole! How fucking dare you! She's mine! She's my mate! I'll fucking kill you!" screamed Brittany. Rachel was shocked, her girlfriend never swore much.
"You're wrong. Rachel's just confused. All she needs is a real man to sort her out, then she'll realise that this is disgusting! This… relationshipis a sin!" Jesse screeched right back. Rachel was stunned. She almost wanted to kill Jesse herself for the things he's saying but she knew that would be the worst thing to happen on this trip.
"Fucking hell dude! You can't just say shit like that. It doesn't affect you, leave it be." One of the other boys said. Ben. Rachel recognised it was Ben.
"I won't let this happen! I refuse." Jesse said. Rachel was put off by how dark he sounded.
"You won't let what happen Jesse? You won't let my daughter be with her soulmate? Well I'm sorry
But if that's your opinion then there is no place for you on my pack." Rachel instantly recognised that voice. It was her mother.
"What? You're throwing me out the pack? Me? What about her? She attacked me!" Rachel and Shelby both rolled their eyes.
"As far as I'm concerned, this was a provoked attack, and besides, Brittany isn't in my pack, she's in Rachel's."
Brittany took off running. She knew she had to calm down. She knew she'd be in trouble for reacting like that. She knew exactly what he was doing! He was pushing her buttons to try and get a reaction out of her and that's exactly what she gave him. She was so angry at herself but he deserved it. No one else said the things he was saying. She changed back into her human form and collapsed against a big tree. She let the sobs take over her body for the longest time. She'd let everyone down. She was supposed to be one of the wolves in control. She'd been a wolf for the longest! Now what were they going to think.
"Brittany? Baby? Are you okay?" Rachel had finally caught up with her girlfriend and she too had changed back into her human form. It was easier to comfort that way.
"I'm such an idiot Rach. I knew he was just trying to get a rise out of me, and I let him! But you should've heard the things he was saying about you. It wasn't right. No one speaks badly of you Rach, no one."
"Baby shh. It's okay." Rachel pulled her girlfriend into her chest as she continued to sob. She kissed her head and whispered reassurances into her ear. "It seems right now all we're doing in comforting each other huh?" Rachel said jokingly.
"I know, I'm sorry baby. I'm sorry I lost control like that and I'm sorry I scared you."
Rachel smiled lightly "thank you for defending my honour. She said, kissing her girlfriend softly on the lips.
"I'd always defend you." Brittany said. "I don't wanna go back yet. Is it okay if we just sit here for a while?"
"Of course baby. We'll sit here for as long as you want."
